I won this book in a goodreads drawing.

First part of a serial where some people are immortal. I felt like I started in the middle, and never really caught up.

The future may look bright
As a general rule, I do not usually read serial books. I much prefer the fast-paced book with a sure HEA, but surprisingly I did not mind that this book is only chapter one in the story. Maybe it is because it is a YA story, or because it is the SciFi that I love so much, but I truly enjoyed this book. The story is fast-paced, and the characters are well written with romance that is out of this world, pun totally intended. Overall, I enjoyed this book and am anxiously awaiting the next installment from the author.

“Prime Vector” is the first book in this Sci-Fi Romance by D. A. Hicks, in the series “The Immortal Oath”. It is written as separate episodes, where each book tells a complete story and also moves you forward for the next story.
Calita and Ry are twins, they are Martian soldiers but not equal. In the Martian society Calita should never been born. The girls are protective of each other. Ry is the first born and received all the rewards so she watches over Calita. Ry is an Immortal and Earth provides the food to sustain the immorality virus. Ry is sent to Earth with her group to patrol the Ukruum fields and she sneaks Calita aboard the ship. As the Immortals visit the village, there is a big fire in the Ukruum fields and things become difficult. Enter Tek Dar, who was born and lives on earth. Tek Dar is able to protect Calita, as her sister, goes with her group to check the fields.
The air is filled with electricity between Tek and Calita and their story is very well written. D. A. Hicks really kept me on the edge of my seat! Not from page one, not from the first paragraph, not from the first sentence but from the FIRST WORD! The action, the suspense and the romance continued throughout this well written story. Now, is the time to get the book and see what happens…..

This infected me, and I don't want the cure.

You could say Catita picked the wrong night to tag along with her sister's commando crew "downloading" to the devastated surface of earth... but since she keeps pushing and pushing, unsatisfied in all the best ambitious ways of someone living in the shadow of her beloved sister, it would happen inevitably.
Tek on the other hand is already in for a pound, so what does a few more pennies matter as he helps Catita hide, one of the very Martians he despises.
How many times did each save the other? But how many times did they hurt each other?
... and I bet they'll do it again and again.

I love the world Hicks created here, its inherent contradictions a delicious tease to the mind, and I can't wait to see more unfold. Hitching a ride with both our protagonists the reader is barely a step ahead of them in untangling the intrigue of their worlds, amid their struggle to do the right thing, and understand their compulsive attraction.

Serializing this is a brilliant move to allow the readers to sink into each successive arc. But I do somewhat envy later readers who will be able to "binge" the entire season.

"The Immortal Oath" takes us on an adventure in space with Catita Johns, a first year cadet and Ry her Immortal sister. After finding out the Ry is taking a trip to the Old Planet, Catita convinces her to let her tag along in order to find the man who has been haunting her dreams. When they arrive there a dangerous situation causes the twins to separate and plan to meet up at sunrise. While Catita is cooling her heels at a local bar, she meets Tek, the man who has been in every dream of hers for as long as she can remember. Through some dangerous situations, Catita returns in order to meet with Ry, only to have it end in an impossibility. Now how will she ever function again as part of the Epoch.

I love to watch sci-fi with the husband, but I don't usually read it because it doesn't usually translate the same way a movie or tv series does. This was the exception, it played out like an episode of "Star Trek" or "Altered Carbon". I look forward to reading more episodes from the Prime Vector series.

The Immortal Oath is book one or should I say episode one in a series. The author created the story to follow the lineage of episodes in order to closely relate to binge watching your favorite t.v. shows. Although I do appreciate the thought behind it, I wish that the book was longer than just over 100 pages. But I guess that just means that it was a good book if I'm wanting more pages. Set on Mars, twin sisters find themselves traveling to the Old Planet in order to help Catita find the man who has been haunting her dreams. Then tragedy strikes. Full of action, heartbreak and romance, this book will take you on a fast paced adventure and leave you wanting more.

This was a GoodReads giveaway of a Kindle ebook.

The author clearly states in the forward that this series will be episodic in presentation. This does read as episode 1 of a series.

The familiar formula of the Z team member suddenly finding herself challenged to become part of the A team. There is also a love interest introduced. Not much that I have not seen in the past. It is a short read. It could be fun, but not enough for myself to devote a lot of time to get into. Perhaps I would binge read this series upon the final chapter. I will wait to see how I feel in a few years.

Have a GoodReads.

This is the first book in a continuing YA sci-fi series and, for me, it had the feel of a story just meant to get you set up for what's to happen later. It has some nice action and a bit of romance but too much was left unresolved. It a short and easy read that makes you want to know more.

Unusual

This is a dystopian future where some of the people from earth have moved to mars and have been infected with a virus that gives them superhuman strength and immortality. Evidently it also causes them to have horrible attitudes towards anyone not like them. This series is set up like a tv series with each book being an episode.
