After recovering from Friday night, private investigator Mika Chalmers is trying to piece together what happened to her. Detective Alex Beech is up in arms about what happened, blaming himself for leaving her alone with a sergeant who’s looking more and more untouchable, especially with no evidence. Eric Foresburg, her kind-of boyfriend, wants to take her away from all of this. Mika just wants to solve the case - which is hard to do since she can’t remember anything.
Due to both men unknowingly putting pressure on her, Mika enlists the help of someone completely unexpected: smarmy defense attorney and pain her butt, Ryan King.
Everyone thinks Sergeant Bill McNally is responsible for what happened to Mika. He was present and he conducted the interview after everyone left. But evidence starts cropping up that it could be the one person Mika would never expect: Detective Alex Beech.
If Mika doesn’t solve this crime soon, Beech is going to be put away for a crime she knows he didn’t commit. But she can’t solve the crime if she doesn’t remember what happened.
Full disclosure: I am an acquired taste. I'm a typical blonde Orange County suburbanite who says 'like' more than necessary, laughs loud and probably obnoxiously, and loves to dance in the rain. I'm a 23 year old college graduate with more than a few tricks up my sleeve, and I also happen to be a pretty big Ducks fan. Oh, and I'm a writer. Like, for real.
Third book in the series start straight off after book 2.Mika have to find out what exactly happened to her,and who is responsible.
It's still a good mystery, but there is no explanation in some parts.Left me with a lot of questions, rather then answers. Still happy that she catch the bad guy,but rolling my eyes at the romance.

“Ice Queen“ is the third instalment in the “Mika Chalmers Hockey Mystery” by Heather C. Myers, an enticing and captivating series that blends character development and mystery in a way that reminds of any good mature aimed mystery movie series. Mika Chalmers (FMC) is a PI and daughter of the coach of the NHL Irving Buccaneers, a fact that plays a primordial role in both the particular book mystery and the overall story-arc following Mika’s character.
“Ice Queen” follows up where “Kept on Ice” ended, with Mika trying to piece together the events that put her into an hospital bed. She remembers being at the police station, invited by Detective Alex Beech to celebrate the end of their last case, and Beech leaving at some time, letting her alone with Sergeant Bill McNally, the rest is kind of blurb, but Mika is resolved to find out, more so, when some evidence begins to point to Alex as the real culprit. Alex himself is publicly giving himself the blame for leaving her with McNally, while Eric just want to get away for everything. Torn between both men, who only succeed in putting more pressure on her. As going back to the police station, results in a flare of PTSD, Mika decides to take things in her own hands and seek the help of Ryan King, the unsufferable but brilliant attorney to get to the bottom of the issue, with very unexpected consequences.
Another fast-paced, action packed and interesting mystery, with unexpected turns, good plot twists, and the usual cast of captivating character. However, a word of caution, the background story deals with themes of violence (rape) and can be triggered for some readers, otherwise the story falls perfectly into step with the rest of the series, showing new nuances in Mika’s ability to deal with pressure, maintain her focus and analytical skills to solve the mystery, while simultaneously dealing with trauma. The relationship between Mika, Alex and Eric suffers some strain and evolves as Mika decides to take a break and reassert her feelings.
The series follows Mika Chalmers throughout diverse adventures that are all comprised into a single story-arc. The books are surely intended to be read in chronological order, and usually end with cliffhangers (a soft one in this particular case). However, they offer closed mysteries, and thus can also be enjoyed without any knowledge of the events related in previous instalments, as any key points relevant to the story at hand, are included (in a subtle manner) by the author. A clear recommendation to any mystery fans, specially for those with an ice hockey fav.
This is a twisty little mystery that left me doubting everything I thought I knew when I opened the cover. The story picks up very shortly after the previous book left off and we follow Mika as she tries to piece together what really happened. I’m still not a complete fan of the dynamic between Mika and Eric and Alex, but I do really want to see where the author is going to take us with it. There are several tantalizing hints about Alex’s backstory that get dropped and the “soft” cliff-hanger ending makes me very intrigued to read more. I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book through Booksprout.
This is a well written mystery that will leave you hanging. Mika was attacked, but with no memory of the even is determined to figure out with happen. This suspense story will have you on the edge of your seat.

This is book three of the Mika Chalmers Hockey Mystery series and sees Mika having to try and deal with the incident at the police station, when Detective Alex Beech had her there to celebrate the end of their last case together and she was to be interviewed for a detective position. She is currently a Private Investigator, having built up her own business, but she works well with Beech and wants to do more with him. But she ends up in hospital, unable to remember much of that night, nor what was done to her! Her boyfriend Eric, the hockey player and her father, the hockey team’s coach, are the first to visit her and are shocked at what has been done to her. Eric wants her to give up on being a P.I., saying it is too dangerous, but this just puts her back up.
While she can’t remember what happened that evening, she has been told what occurred and is now suffering from PTSD when she tries to return to the police station for her interview. This makes her start to wonder if she could really become a police detective or if she is better off staying a P.I.? Detective Beech is really angry that he was the last to know what happened to her and that he is now the prime suspect and has been suspended from work. She knows in her heart that he could never have done something like that to her and this causes friction with the detective investigating her case, but more importantly with her on again boyfriend Eric. He hates how close she seems to be with Alex Beech and thinks he is guilty. No one wants to listen to Mika, telling her that as she can’t remember anything about that night, then how can she know he is innocent? It doesn’t help when he tells the team and press what happened to her, hoping for more leads to be found.
The only thing Mika can do is investigate her own case and look into the police officers who were in the building that night and try to find out who would have the motive to attack her in that manner and to prove Alex innocent. Alex advises her to talk to a therapist and this actually brings about her first fragmented memory of what happened. She is told that anything could trigger another memory, whether that be a sound, smell, or something else and also shows her some ways to cope when her PTSD strikes. Hopefully she can get enough memories back or triggered, to work out who was behind her attack and get them put away!
For those who have read the previous book, you know what happened to her, but the blurb doesn’t mention the type of attack that occurred, but it could trigger things for some readers, so be warned. You can probably guess, but I don’t want to spell it out. Another great book in this series, this time with Mika having to deal with the aftermath of what happened to her and to try and find out who was responsible, when she can’t actually remember anything about it! A difficult and deeply personal case for Mika, but she gets more support from Alex than Eric, which may bring about some changes in her love life if he continues. I can’t wait to see what happens next with this trio of characters. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
There is so much I need to unpack about this book. I really really really want to love this book, but I just can't. I genuinely love the characters, but there is so much that could have been done to make this book better. I read the first 2 books in the series and I pretty much said the same thing: THE BOOK NEEDS EDITING!!! Misspelled words on every other page really gets to me. I feel that's not the worst thing about this book.
• Mika’s boyfriend loses and inch of height between the 2nd and 3rd book. In the first 2 books he was 6’5 and in the 3rd book he was 6’4. The books were released only a few months apart, so it wouldn’t be hard to remember or at least look at a previous book to make sure details are the same. • The book blurb is so far from what you get in the book. In the blurb it makes it seem like Ryan King is going to have a big role in this book. In actuality, he has maybe 10 pages at most. • Also, this book completely ignores the events in the last chapter of the previous book which would make “solving the mystery” 10x easier. It’s like the characters completely forgot about what happened in that chapter just so the author could add more tension and make the book seem like an actual mystery instead of acknowledging that anyone who read the 2nd book knows who committed the crime. The blurb tells you who you are supposed to think did it, so why does no one actually suspect him until the final chapter/s when Mika figures it out.
I wanted to love this book, but editing errors and continuity issues makes what could have been a great book just a mediocre e-book that might not actually be worth your money.
This is a difficult kind of mystery to solve where the victim has no memory of what happened. And yet, she is going to try to find out the perpetrator, with a little help.
Mika Chalmers, a private detective, is recovering from a rape that she cannot remember. While most people think the culprit is Sergeant Bill McNally, so-called “evidence” may be pointing to Detective Alex Beech. Even though she cannot remember anything, Mika is convinced Beech would not have done this. He was suspended while the case is still under investigation, but he joins Mika in looking for evidence to find who did this and who is trying to frame him.
Mika’s sort-of boyfriend, Eric Foresburg, is pressuring her and she asks him to hold off on their relationship for now. She needs to work on her case without distractions. Is there any hope that Mika’s memory will return about the details of the rape? Will Beech be locked up and tried for a crime she knows he would not have done?
This was a well-written, easy to read mystery that I thoroughly enjoyed. The author was excellent at revealing the characters and their personalities. They really came to life quickly! The story line fully invests the reader immediately and quickly moves along in an intriguing story. Grab your copy and see if Mika and Beech can solve this one in time to save the day!
This is the 3rd in an ice hockey series that involves hockey team Buccaneer star player, Eric Foresburg, her father the coach of the team, Private Investigator Mika Chalmers, and her best friend, Detective Alex Beech. The story begins with Mika in the hospital, the obvious victim of a horrible crime of which Mika has absolutely no memory. In attempting to nudge her memory and learn the identity of the perpetrator, Mika and boyfriend Eric butt heads as to the involvement in the crime of Mika's friend, Beech, whom Mika insists is absolutely innocent. The stress of investigating her case, hearing everyone wanting to make Beech the perp, trying to keep herself together and constantly supporting Beech to Eric, she calls a time out on Eric, insisting she needs some time from their relationship to solve her crime, figure out what she wants to do with herself, and then work on where the relationship can go. In the meantime, everyone is pushing Beech's guilt in the crime but just KNOWS that he's innocent. The conclusion begins by Mika learning who the true perpetrator is, being put in horrible danger, and while we learn the true perp, the cliffhanger on the triangle of Mika, Eric and Beech ends . . . hanging . . . !!! Great book and I feel a super series as well.
Mika Chalmers is a private detective who was drugged and raped. With no memory of her assault, Mika refuses to be a victim and sets out to find out who raped her. Her boyfriend, Eric, and her father are being overprotective and driving her crazy. While Sergeant McNally looks like the guilty party, the "evidence" points to Detective Beech who Mika knows didn't commit the crime. When Beech is suspended while the case is being investigated, he and Mika team up to find evidence of who raped Mika and is trying to frame him. Will Mika remember who raped her? Will Beech be arrested and tried for a crime that Mika knows he didn't commit? Will Mika continue to be torn between her feelings for Eric and Detective Beech? Ice Queen is another great book by Heather C Myers. Ice Queen is a great book with characters that will keep the reader glued to their kindle from the beginning to the end. I would recommend getting Ice Queen and the other books in The Mika Chalmers Hockey Mystery series by Heather C Myers.

This one definitely needs a couple of trigger warnings. There is a SA off page but it’s after effects and how Mika deals with them is very much the story. So read with caution. This is definitely darker tone than the previous books in the serious. Perhaps serious is a better word than darker. I mean the SA is dark and frankly as a woman I think a more difficult crime to deal with than murder so perhaps that’s why I see the darkness here. Which is not to say that this isn’t a well written story, it is. I think the way the subject matter is dealt with is excellent and Mika is brave and resilient and admirable for how she handles herself. I think all the people around her save for Beech need a serious reality and attitude adjustment. Or maybe they just need to watch some more Law and Order SVU to see how it’s done right. While I’m not sure enjoy is the correct way to describe the reading experience I am still loving the series and eager for the next book!.

Mika is recovering from a rape that she has no memory of. She is spending a lot of time in her office and her dad and boyfriend, Eric are being overprotective in her mind. Her police detective friend Beech is under suspicion for the rape but she knows he could not be involved and while he has been suspended he helps her look into her case. She tells Eric that they need to take a break in their relationship and she is questioning her feelings for Beech. Will Mika remember what happened the night of the rape? Will her feelings for Eric and Beech be resolved?
I enjoyed this story but the ending left me confused about Mika’s future personally and professionally. This is part of a series so I guess we just need to wait for the next book to find out more.

Mika has no recollection of her rape. Eric and her father are concerned about her, but their constant contact is somewhat annoying. Eric wants her to quit her PI career - Beech wants her to join the PD - they're both driving her nuts. But Beech is a "person of interest" in her case. WTF? She's the only person who is convinced that he had nothing to do with her rape. And the tension between Eric and Beech has not eased up at all. I am just loving this series, and this book was wonderful - a little darker perhaps - but still an incredible story. Mika is so smart, with great instincts about her cases. I love Beech, but am mystified about his background. I'm almost hoping that Mika and Beech get together, because I'm not sure Eric is the right guy for her. I can't wait for the next book!

I really enjoy the world the author has created and I will definitely read the next in the series, however the topic of rape and victimization and such was difficult for me. I had a hard time feeling connected to the female MC in the beginning because she seemed nonchalant about the whole thing. While everything grows and is presented in different ways, it was just a topic that I find hard for me to enjoy and see done in a way that I appreciate, regardless of its plot or character development role.
As for the solution to the mystery...I felt I had known it since the last book, so it wasn’t entirely shocking. It did surprise me that the MC and the main suspect never had a falling out over it either. Kind of blind faith which the MC has rarely offered others (in terms of completely accepting their role/guilt/lack of guilt).
I do enjoy these quick read stories and the author, though!
I absolutely love the Mika Chalmers series, and Ice Queen does not disappoint. Each book has a mystery to be solved, which keeps you guessing until the end. What keeps the reader truly involved in the series is the ongoing relationship triangle between Mika, Eric and Beech. Mika is fearless in her job, pushes herself to find the truth whatever that may be and is beyond loyal to those she cares about. In Ice Queen, Mika can't remember being assaulted. She refuses to be a victim and with Beech's help, they look for answers while becoming closer than friends. The story flew by and before I knew it, the mystery was solved and I have to wait yet again until the next book.

Detective Beech is an investigative partner and close personal connection.
When the rapport Mika has built with the department and with Detective Beech in an horrible way, Mika is unable to recall enough details to save her relationships or herself from wondering the worst
Deep distrust and bad actors are revealed and those who should be supportive are unsurprisingly not as helpful as they intend
Compelling emotion and drama packed story.
It really brings home trust and its loss are at the heart of some violations. To be a survivor not a victim is not easy to achieve
Mika has to find out who hurt her. Mika was raped by a police officer in the police station and she was drugged so she doesn’t remember. The detective on the case keeps asking her if it was Beech, but Mika categorically says it wasn’t’ He’s suspended from the force and now he and Mika are looking into who did it and why. If only Mika could remember. And Mika has finally admitted to Eric that after he broke up with her, and they were apart for a long time, she doesn’t love him anymore and she wants to be away from him for a while. But he comes back with his suitcase if he he’s moving in? I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review
Best book in the series! MIka's relationships with Eric and Beech change drastically. Ry-Guy actually shows human compassion.
Mika is assaulted at the police station and wakes up in the hospital with no memory of what happened. The person of interest is Detective Beech but she is adamant he did not do it. Beech and Mika have to team up to get the bad guy. With no apparent motives for their suspects, their work is cut out for them. At the same time Mika has to process what happened and how she wants to go forward. Highly recommend!

This book in the Mika Chalmers series was pretty intense. I enjoyed how loyal Mika stayed to herself, her intuition, and her boundaries. I do feel like the bad guy's motive wasn't believable. It seemed like too big of a jump especially since it was premeditated. I don't feel like it was fleshed out enough. With that said, I enjoyed how Mika and Beech stood together and fought back at a bad circumstance. They are a great team. I really love mystery novels with a hint of romance and I love that this series has been tame - only alluding to intimate scenes.

Following the shock revelation at the end of book 2, Mika is determined to prove that Beech is innocent despite the fact that he is the police departments chief suspect.
The bulk of this book is taken up with an examination of Mika's relationships with both her boyfriend Eric and the confusing (for her) feelings she has developed for Beech. The investigation takes a back seat whilst Mika struggles to know whether she should go for the detective role, remain a PI or to quit altogether.
An enjoyable episode in the series but hopefully the next installment will throw up a juicy mystery to distract Mika from her relationship dilemma.
Mika wants to find out exactly what happened to her during the hours she can’t remember. However, Eric just wants her to give up and Detective Beech is angry and feels responsible for what happened when he left her alone. This is a well written mystery and I would recommend reading the entire series. I do not know what will happen, but I am leaning toward Team Beech. Either way, I will continue to follow this series.

This is the first book I've read by this author so I was a little lost starting out but caught up quickly and really enjoyed the book. It's a sports romance without a lot of sports in it which I found interesting. After I finished this book I do go back and read the first in the series to catch up a little bit and fill in some questions I had. Overall a fun read and I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.

This is book 3 of the Mika Chalmers Mystery series. This one starts where the last book of the series. You don't miss anything from the last book. Mika and Beech are trying to figure out her hurt her. Beech is a suspect of what happened to Mika. Her and Eric are taking space in their relationship because of how he is telling people what happened and blaming Beech even though he isn't the person. This book was a mystery revolving around a private investigator that was drugged and couldn't recall her rape. She goes through quite a bit to find out who it was, and dealing with her on again off again boyfriend and also her sometimes partner going at each other. It ends on a cliffhanger regarding the relationship.

Overall, I love the characters and their histories. I do enjoy the relationships between the various characters and how well they develop.
Poor Mika finds herself in a hospital bed, not really sure how that happened. Can she figure it out?
HC Cardona seems to love leaving each book on a small cliffhanger. As someone who grew up with late night soaps (Dallas, Dynasty), I do love me a good cliffhanger.
Book three in the The Mika Chalmers Hockey Mystery Series a well written story that kept me turning pages. That was one very sick man, I never would of expected it to be him! I enjoyed reading Mika Chalmers , Erik Foresburg , and Detective Alex Beech's story. I hope there is more to come in this series. The mystery continues in this story where Mika can't seem to remember what happened. It picks up shortly after the end of the previous book so you do have to read these in order. It's mysterious with some couple tension thrown in. I am not sure yet on the dynamics between Mika and Eric and Alex and then someone else comes into the mix in this book. So now I can't wait to see what happens next.
Ice Queen is book three in the series and picks up where book two left off. Mika was attacked but has memory loss and doesn't know what happened or who did it. As the mystery unfolds and Mika does what she can to find out the truth. The writing is good and the ending left me ready for the next book. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
