Rate this book
She ran away from her past. He wants to bring her back. Can she face her demons to give love a chance?

Dating Rule #1: Don't fall in love with your best friend. But aren't rules meant to be broken?

Tessa Walker left her father’s ranch at 18 to pursue her dream of becoming a photographer and hasn’t looked back since. Her only regret was leaving her childhood best friend, Brody, behind. Now, her controlling father is on his death bed, and she’s forced to return to the place that harbors so many bad memories.

Luckily Brody McAllister, all grown up and looking sexy in his cowboy boots, is there to help her--in more ways than one. Surely he can't be the only one feeling the sexual tension between them now that they are adults, right?

Can Brody convince Tessa to stay on the ranch and make new memories with him or will her wanderlust pull her away?

Hi Readers!
I am a writer, reader, wife, mother, teacher, and photographer. I married my high school sweetheart - a real-life second chance love story! - and have been a hopeful romantic ever since. When I'm not reading swoon-worthy romances or letting my characters take over my stories, you can find me sipping on a fountain soda with a true crime documentary on TV.

At least I wish that was all I had to do. Usually I'm chasing my two daughters around with my camera, grading papers, or cleaning up after the animals on our mini-farm in rural Maryland (at least goats, chickens, dogs, and cats are cute, right?).

I have a BA in English-Secondary Education, a BA in Psychology, and a Masters of Arts in Liberal Arts where I focused on writing, photography, and juggling. Yes-juggling. I still practice in my kitchen much to the horror of my husband and delight of my kiddos.

Cute story but parts felt rushed and the ending was a little confusing and abrupt.

Fifteen years ago Tessa Walker's life was crumbling around her and the only person keeping her from falling apart was her best friend Brody McCallister. Then her father's abuse escalated and Tessa had to leave. Ten years later he's now on his death bed and she's been called back home to settle his affairs and maybe come to terms with the past. But there is a handsome cowboy still living next door and they've got unfinished business as well.

Brody can't believe his first love is back. But for how long? With her father dying and her career taking off, he has no doubt she'll leave again. Yet, he never forgot that kiss, or the regrets that he never told her how he felt about her. Will Brody get the chance this time or will her father's will be the last straw for Tessa.

The book carries several names and offers to the contrary it is no longer free.

Pregnancy and childbirth are not risk free, a fact the public fails to acknowledge which is why, in America in particular, only specialists carry malpractice insurance to cover it. When a mother dies in childbirth and the child survives the baby suffers doubly for this loss. When a girl resembles her dead mother she becomes a haunting presence as here.

[Mothers who try to lose weight while breastfeeding can suffer calcium shock, a condition that is instantly fatal.]

Tessa Walker suffered emotional abuse at home and left at 18 to pursue a career as a photojournalist leaving behind her neighbour and childhood best friend Brody McAllister. Ten years later she is returning to pick up the pieces as her father lays dying.

This then becomes the story of the boy she left behind her. During her ten-year absence he hasn’t been a monk but he still carries a torch for the girl he kissed the night she left. But ten years later the pair barely know the adults they have become.

The text need further editing and contains some profanity. Mild sex scenes.

The title change was a little confusing when trying to leave a review. I enjoyed the story and chemistry with Brody. The sex at the end was disappointing and may need pre-screening before giving to the young adult reader.
