An Inferno World Novel

I’m alone. All alone.
Nothing but a bad boy trying so hard to be a good man.
It’s time to leave everything I know and find them.

My family.

Uncle Charles is a real man. A strong, commanding man. Someone who teaches his two children how they must present themselves in this hard, confusing world.
And he welcomes me with open arms.

His world isn’t like mine, though.
The rules are different.
Dark. Confusing. Twisted. Wrong.
But, still, I understand them.

Rather than shy away from his unusual teachings, I thirst for them.
Crave every lesson, each punishment, and all the rewards.
I’m where I was meant to be.

Most men want to be like their father when they grow older.
I want to be like Uncle Charles.

And when he is no longer able to teach, I have a few lessons of my own…

Cognati is an Inferno World story that follows a young man named Luke Greene, or later known as Pater, just after the book Sparks and before the book Inferno by Yolando Olson. This book is written to fit in her world and is based on the character she created but may stand completely on its own. However, you’ll most certainly want to dive into Inferno after reading Cognati to see what the devious, yet oddly charming Pater, is up to next…if you dare.

I already had a ticket to hell, but Cognati gave me an upgrade.

This is beyond the dark category.

I have never read a book with so many insane characters together!

They all deserve each other.

Did I enjoy it?

Not really. However, I can't stop thinking about this author's brain.
Such a scary and wild imagination!

Friendly note: Run for your life because there are all kinds of taboo here.

Wait... This is K. Webster's???

Uhhh... Count me in?

---------------

This is what happened when you put the brilliant twisted mind of K. Webster and mixed it with the pitch black soul of a series called Inferno. This book is not for anyone. Don't go into this hoping you'll find a happy ending for anyone or even slightest of sunshine. This is dark, wrong and cruel. (Though not as pitch black as the infamous Iniquity)

However, through the horrified gasps and screams I had during reading this, I can't deny that I enjoyed it a lot. Not in the sadistic ways, but in a detachment of mind and body way. Gosh, I can't explain it. You'll think I'm as crazy as Pater by the end of this review. So, yeah. 🙂

Genre: Erotic Horror
Type: Standalone Novella in the Inferno World
POV: First Person - Multiple
Rating:

All Luke Greene ever wanted was to have a family to call his own. When his uncle and took him in, Luke gained an instant family with his uncle’s children Kristopher and Karen. But his happy ending came to a screeching halt when the seemingly perfect family started to show cracks. He must decide what’s best to secure his future.

When I found out K. Webster writing this one under a different pen name, I innocently thought it would be a straight-up thriller/suspense. Oh, how wrong I was. All I need to say is, you can’t take taboo out of the author. It might make you question your morality and sanity. My advice is just to embrace it with an open crot... uh, I mean arms :p

With a grunt, he slams into me. The fiery pain makes me black out. Like a hammer drilling a nail, he fucks me painfully.

I absolutely loved Luke. He knew how to adapt to make the most out of the situations he was in. Kristopher and Karen were endearing in their own unconventional way and I definitely had soft spot for them. The story was quite a wild ride and I enjoyed every second of it.

Cognati is a story of adapting and fitting in. It would appeal to readers who enjoy an erotic taboo story.

Wanting to be part of a family again, Luke is welcomed by his Uncle Charles and twin cousins, Kristopher and Karen. Shortly upon arriving, Luke realizes that while there are some differences on the surface, the similarities are much more parallel to what he knows. Though Luke sees all on the periphery, much of the story focuses on Kristopher and Karen as they know where their hearts belong.

“This is how family is supposed to be.”

Immediately, the setting drew me in with the sheltered and misguided practices followed by this family. Kristopher and Karen have such purity about them and so eager to learn and please. Together, they were truly whole. Uncle Charles had his cringeworthy motivations that were the impetus for certain behaviors. With Luke, he is a character living by his own code.

“I feel like I’ve done something right in this world, reconnecting the two halves so they can be whole. God will reward me one day.”

In starting Cognati, I didn’t necessarily know what to expect other than possibly a darkish thriller, but the plot exceeded my expectations by adding taboo and horror elements. Truly, I was addicted to see what was going to happen next. Needless to say, I plan to read more books in the Inferno series.

Oh my goodness was this quite the treat!!!! I adored this addition to inferno world. The origins of some of things read in "Inferno" I found super clever. Seeing a young Luke was something I thoroughly enjoyed while reading Sparks, but what I really thought was funny about this story, was that Luke was the light and fun character in this book while still being 100% him. "Fun" is an odd way to describe my experience while reading such a messed up book (because make no mistake, this book is disturbing af lol) but it was. I had a blast with this book and I'm also I love with the cover even more now!! 5 stars all day.

Well hell, I don’t even have the words to quite describe what I’m feeling after reading this book. I actually feel a little sick to my stomach rating it 5 stars.....I mean does that I mean I like the depravity of what went down? Am I sick? How can a book that had me closer to actually vomiting than I’ve ever been (reading) get a 5 star review?

It’s simple, regardless of the subject matter this book is on another level storytelling wise. K. Webster was able to weave a web of the most dysfunctional horror erotic madness I’ve ever witnessed and I couldn’t put it down. I’ve read A LOT of dark shit, and this tops it all. I’m still at a loss of words.

This is not going to be for everyone, I’m telling you now if you are easily triggered (or triggered by “normal” dark), this is going to turn you into a mental mess. It features lots of incest and lots of insanity paired with the Bible/God somehow guiding it all. There wasn’t a moment in this book I wasn’t uncomfortable, but I can’t deny that this book was one I have no regrets reading. But this is it, I don’t think I am mentally prepared to continue on my journey with Pater.....if this was the “start” so to speak, I’m not capable of seeing how far he goes later.

Should you read it? I can’t answer that.....there will be far more readers who couldn’t possibly get or enjoy this book than those that could, BUT I do think if you are one of the rarities that actively seek THAT book that pushes your limits, this one is a perfect addition to your TBR/Read shelf.

A perfect new entry to the horror/tragic inferno world, i knew it will be perfect because it's by my favorite author.

In this one we finally find out what happened with Luke after he killed his mom in SPARKS and how all his legacy really started ,reading all the other books i was left with a lot of unanswered thoughts about him,and i finally connected the dots.

Luke goes to live with his uncle's family and here he finds out how that evil man raises his kids and from him he learns how to do it "better" in his own way, also we finally see when he created and digs that hole in the ground , the famous oubliette.

Like the other inferno books this isn't a pretty entry, it's tragic like always. It's all around the twins and Luke is learning how to be a good "husband " and he tries to let his mom go, but in this one he was good, kind of,in this one he isn't at his worse YET (who read all the series will know)😅

Kristopher surprised me lol at first he was so sweet but then he changed , what he did with Karen was really sick , not for their intimate relationship but all the stuffs they were doing after, i couldn't even think about it,i got chills 😅 .

I didn't mind that ending, it perfectly fits for this story. Can't wait to read the next entries in this horrific world.

Cognati is one of those books where I should have done a bit of research before diving into the story. As it was, I was curious because there was very little information about what this one would give me.

As it turns out, Cognati was not for me. At all. I’ll give almost anything a read, but incest is a line I have no wish to cross. I did not realise such was to be the case with this book, especially with how much of it there was. It was too much for me, and I could not connect with it at all.

I know many have enjoyed this out-there story, but it left me with a sour taste in my mouth.

The Inferno World is a.....dark, taboo, twisted place.... but I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy reading it all, haha. Yolanda Olson started the Inferno series, and Cognati takes place in the Inferno World but is written by Elizabeth Gray. Cognati is about Luke ( Pater ) when he was younger... in the roughly 18 year old range. We learn more about Pater when he was a teen, how he became what he is... and why.

We also meet his twin cousins and uncle in this book... His uncle is.... a piece of work to say the least.

You CAN read this book as a standalone, but to truly understand the series, you should start with Inferno by Yolanda Olson. AND READ THE TRIGGERS. This book has a LOT of triggers, and it most certainly is not for everyone....

You know how many times I looked at this cover and said hell naw? So, it’s no surprise that I missed it’s a K Webster book. If you know me, you know I freaking adore Ms. Webster. So, if I had realized back then I would’ve devoured it in a flash because nobody does taboo like she does.

So, it’s no shocker that she didn’t disappoint.

This one definitely weighed more on the depraved sex side than gory violence. It was there, sure but perhaps more as an afterthought. Which is absolutely fine, this gave me everything I was looking for.

OMG.
WOW
I am speechless
Luke stole my breath. I LOVED HIM SO MUCH. I always loved Pater and his evilness. And just seeing him as a teenager and actually being a GOOD cousin, I just loved him. He shined so bright.
Kristopher and Karen, man I was rooting for them the entire book. I was hoping and praying Pa didnt do anything to mess with them even more. I know that sounds even more messed up because they are twins but I WANTED them to marry LOLOL I really hated Pa. He was just a sick bad man. No good in him. This book was absolute perfection in every which way. I have fell in love with all the Inferno World books but this one stole the show for me. It will stick with me for a very long time and I want to re read it already. More than 5 stars.

WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST READ?

"Her throat was so delicate in my hands. I squeezed until she didn’t take any other breaths. It completed the circle of life. She gave me my first breath and I took her last."

When I read the blurb, I didn’t have a single idea that THIS would be THIS. I just hop on the read thinking, it’s K. Webster, how and why could it ever go wrong? I've read so many books by K. Webster and I think this is most definitely in my top 3 by the author. (If you are confused about the name “Elizabeth Gray”, it’s K. Webster’s pen name)

Oh my. I wasn’t even supposed to read this book. I was searching to read another book- a whole different plot and everything but this somehow landed along with my search for that novel. Although this book horrified me and introduced me into the world of “Infernos”, I was glad to read it. What do they say, to taste all flavors of food before dying? This is like that for my book genres. This book was so damn unexpected and upto the mark! The characters and their thinking, oh my my.

I was kind of buddy reading it with my friend M ….or maybe I might’ve forced her a little bit to read BUT she did and woah okay, woah. I can’t really say anything because one slight stirrup of my part and this book would be spoiled. If you are wanting to read this, go for it. Horror is good for health, that's what I can say.

I just freakin’ love it when one of my favourite authors of all time just keeps spitting out darker and darker books.

This shit is made for us, tribe!

K Webster is back with another dark and taboo AF story and I can not get enough.

!!!*WARNING*!!!

My review will be talking about extremely taboo and dark content. It contains many triggers for some people, so please proceed with caution.

Now, this story comes from the Inferno World series by Yolanda Olson. Which I have not read.
I plan on remedying that shortly because...damn!

KAREN

This wee lass is such a mix of..well...confusion and innocence and hormones and all sorts of shit. Her upbringing has been fucked up, to say the least.

Her daddy takes it upon himself to teach her and her brother in the ways of ‘godliness’ while at the same time teaching her what she has to do in order to be a good wife and mother.

Do you get what I’m saying here? A ‘hands-on training’ kind of thing, okay?

Okay, well buckle up bitches, we’re about to step into their world and once read it can never be unread.

She has a pure little heart and she loves her brother. A lot.
But you can’t really blame her as they’ve never known anything but their father’s cruel ways and teachings.
I just...I can’t even imagine growing up like they did (thank God).
Her father is an extremely cruel and violent, controlling man.
Sick.

KRISTOPHER

This is Karen’s twin brother and they have a special bond. And because of the way they’ve been brought up...sometimes too special. If ye ken wit a mean?

He tries so hard to get his father’s approval and he has such a sweet demeanor...most of the time.
He tries to fight the ”evil and sinful thoughts” that he has.
He accepts the punishments doled out by his dad because he believes that dad is right!
Again, he’s never known anything other than what his father has taught him.

Basically, life is about controlling and punishing women, taking them whenever you want and the laws of incest don’t really apply.

He tries so hard to be the man his father has been teaching him to be.
A good man. A good husband. A good father.
It’s just so fucked up.

LUKE

This is Karen and Kristopher’s cousin and he is messed up from the very first chapter.
Where the other two are innocent and closed off from the rest of the world, Luke is a little more experienced and knows so much more about life.

And as he’s already...disturbed, he fits into this household extremely well.
There’s a reason he is the way he is, of course, and as the story goes on you start to get a glimpse into his upbringing. *shudders*

He likes to cause a little bit of trouble but deep down he’s seeking acceptance and family.
He feels he’s in the right place when he moves in with them and takes to the ‘lifestyle’ like a duck to water.

He’s oddly charming though and I find his obsession with digging holes in the ground unusual but amusing (read it, you’ll understand, lol).

SEX SCENES/SICK & DARK SCENES
There were so many scenes to pick from. I had a hard time knowing what to put down as Dark/Sick and Sex Scenes, so I’ve put a scene that covers both.

Again ***TRIGGER WARNING***

Kristopher’s tongue is curious at first, licking and lapping at me. Then, it’s probing inside of me where he’ll take me when we’re married. It feels strange and wonderful all at once. He licks lower to the hole he had his finger in earlier today. His hands spread my cheeks apart and he licks me sloppily. He pushes his tongue inside. I cry out, unable to hold back, and grip his hair. This seems to excite him because he licks and sucks and even bites me a few times. It’s maddening and wonderful. As he tongues my hole, Pa’s hand creeps back lower. He finds the needy nub and rubs on it. I’m going crazy from all the sensations. Pa massages me until I scream in pleasure, my entire body detonating. “My darling, obedient children. Well done. Now I must take my gift. Kristopher, put your sister on the bed.” He greedily grabs me, pulling my naked body against his. I love the way my breasts rub against his solid chest. I want to fuck him right now. I’m sad when he sets me down and steps away. Pa rises, stroking his cock. “Sorry, lovely, but this is going to hurt.” Pa climbs on top of me. His body feels good too. Heavy and strong. Crushing. I feel like I’m burning alive from need. He rubs his dick against my nub that still throbs before gently pushing inside of me, smiling when he meets resistance. I’m so slick and wet, that it wouldn’t take much effort for him to obliterate my innocence. Instead, he pulls out to position himself on the promised hole. “Scream all you want, my love, but you must stay still. I’m afraid if you wriggle, I’ll need to hold you down.” Panic seizes me the moment his thick head breaches the first ring of muscles. Fire burns in my anus as he roughly slides his way inside. Hot tears leak from my eyes as I choke on a scream. “Fuck,” Pa curses. “Fuck, yes.” He grunts. “Too tight. You’ve got to let me in, lovely. Let Daddy in.”

Final thoughts on Cognati by K Webster
Wow...just wow! I’m not sure there was a single trigger not covered in this book, lol. As always though Ms Webster manages to get you inside the minds of her characters and has you feeling some kind of understanding for them. You feel for them. You acknowledge that as wrong and twisted as it is...it’s still love (the siblings, btw, not the sick fuck dad).

Oh this book was a whole lot of twisted and sooo good. It’s not going to be a book that’s for everyone but I devoured it! From start to finish I wasn’t able to think of anything else but these characters, the twisted tale that the author wrote and needed to get to the end. Needless to say, I plan to go and read alll the books that’s this one was set in. I’m intrigued by Pater and all that he is.

We have a lot going on in this book but it was easy to follow. I loved the cultish feel, I loved Kristopher, Karen and Luke. They were all so messed up that I can’t help but love them. Like the blurb says this isn’t a romance but there are romantic tones and I loved them. Maybe that makes me twisted but so be it. It rocked. I won’t give to much away but hold on for this wild ride. 5 stars #2OCCJD

Oh Fucked Christ !! Cognati was a flying chandelier ... yes, a wonderful story ... PATER is my eternal love ..
Well if you already know the Inferno series by Yolanda Olson you know that this series is sensational ...

Pater had a childhood different from other children and was always devoted to his "mother", but after his life changes he sees no other option but to look for clues on how to survive this. It is then that he discovers and that he still has hope and a new family that can adopt him.
But everything Pater believed changes when he comes to know his new family more deeply, and the triggers he keeps in the closet start to want to leave and calls start to take care of him.
Pater in order to be a new Father and a new family leader adheres to what he was taught, having a cherub to care for and some lessons to teach.

I just loved it ... and I do indicate you know this story and the whole series !!

Cognati is the work of the masterful K Webster writing as Elizabeth Gray. Although this is part of the Inferno World, it can be read as a standalone. Although personally, I think you should read Sparks by Yolanda Olson first because that made the experience that much better for me.
This is the story of a boy named Luke whose mother has died. He knows of a brother she has named Charles and decides he needs to be with family. When he arrives on his doorstep, Luke discovers that Charles has children about his age. Twins named Kristopher and Karen.
Since Luke's upbringing was far from traditional, he has his own issues and when Luke sees that his new family has major issues of their own, he is happy being part of this new family.

This book is not for the faint of heart, just like all the books in the Inferno World. However it was really dark and twisted in the most fun way. Its also a great way to see more of Luke before he became Pater.

Well, this book was my first introduction to the Inferno series. And now I have to go back and read the rest of them. There's no question about it. I love this twisted story so much.

First off let's talk about this cover. Holy crap if it doesn't give you the chills, but it actually fits the story so well! That's the kind of story that this is. It's so brutally twisted, but magnificently written.

If you like dark, twisted, taboo stories, then you absolutely need to pick this book up. I can only imagine what the rest of the books in this series will look like. I don't know if I want to binge them all in one sitting or space them out between other light fluffy reads. Haha!

Oh my lawwd the level of twisted dark in this book is over the roof! K Webster writing as Elizabeth Gray in this Inferno world is...i'm trying to find the right word here🤔 but if you have read her War series, you know what I'm talking about then multiply the level of twisted and darkness in that series to this book alone, and you get the right word that lost in me.
Fair warning, this book only for you who have strong stomach

What a phenomenal book!
This story was a roller coaster ride of ups and downs, twists and turns, and highs and lows.
Uncle Charles, how do you describe this man? And his teachings to his children and now Luke, his nephew, made my toes curl. I am happy I don't have a white room.
I highly recommend this read but it is not for the squeamish.

THIS BOOK IS NOT FOR EVERYONE! Extremely Taboo subject matter!

Having said that, this book was a rabbit hole of sin, darkness, depravity and death. A blood bath of lust and unexpected twists and turns. It is amazing where our minds are willing to journey to when led there by a genius author.

This book made me question my own sanity!! But I loved every page!

HOLY SHIT.
This was extremely forbidden read and I loved the hell out of it.
Fuck, I need more.
To fall in love with the forbidden and to get into you in a way, that even you can't expalin to yourself...this is what K. Webster is doing to me every time I read her forbidden treats. And I get addicted with every new one she delivers. Her words touch me and make me feel...feel things I shouldn't. Because they are wrong...oh, so wrong and yet they get to me and they feel so right. They get into my system, and make my blood runs so fast and make me crave more and more of her words. I can never get enough of her stories.
If you are not affraid to go out of your comfort zone and have a little taste of the dark erotic forbidden world, I highly recommend this book.

Luke as a teenager, the missing years. And oh, are they some sick, twisted, disturbing years!!! We already knew his mom had screwed him up, but now we really know why Luke becomes the insane man he is…

I noticed a few editing mistakes, for example, referring to a deceased character in the present tense, a day going on for way longer than humanly possible and some punctuation errors, but aside from that, this book is absolute perfection! I was consumed by the graphic, twisted details from start to finish!!! And these might be Webster’s most fascinating, dark characters yet!!!!

*removes clothes pin*

goodness gracious. What a read this was.

Another facet of Luke. This time, we get a glimpse of 18 year old Luke. The snippet/blurb in the beginning lets you know when this novella intended to take place:

____________
Cognati is an Inferno World story that follows a young man named Luke Greene, or later known as Pater, just after the book Sparks and before the book Inferno by Yolando Olson. This book is written to fit in her world and is based on the character she created but may stand completely on its own.
____________

Next, let's look at the title of this novella.

Cognati : Noun. (plural only) (law) relatives by the mother's side.

18 year old Luke has only lived with his mother as we found in the original inferno series. We were given a glimpse of this biological father, but he was just a blip on the radar in Luke's life. All poor Luke wanted was to be an obedient child and to be loved by his family. Is it really too much to ask?

Well, Luke is about to meet his Uncle Charles .. on his mother's side. Cognati. The Greene household.

______________
My spine straightens at his praise. It feels good to have a family.
______________

You would think it was just Luke's mother who molded our dear Luke to the man he would become. But, oh no .. in this story, Luke finds himself and becomes a man through his time with his Uncle. His uncle is a strict man of .. his interpretation of God's word. But his uncle does not reside in this home alone.. of course he doesn't.

Enter our other two main characters:

Kristopher
Karen

Have you seen the beautiful cover? It draws the eyes. You can't help but stare into theirs as you wonder... who are these individuals in the story? Her long flowing blond hair..and that mysterious boy behind her.

____________
Twins are supposed to be identical—and I suppose we are—but we’re not identically shaped.
____________

Why, yes captain obvious.. you aren't identically shaped. Isn't this quote funny? but funny isn't what we come to find out. Actually, throughout the story ... we will come to learn that dear Uncle Charles has kept his children quite naive. Purposely. Now, there is another individual in the home who is Uncle's wife...but you'll find out about her later. The most important thing that is blatant in our faces as we are introduced to the twins is...their devotion to one another.

I know what you're thinking ... the Greene household + devotion = a recipe for the inferno world. And you would absolutely be correct. But ... not.

_____________
One can never be too sure of anything.
_____________

the only thing we can be sure of is that this is a part of the inferno world. We have a inkling of what's to come..and that's what keeps us on our toes. Now I have to say..I did find the twins quite riveting in their devotion to one another. Fascinating. Captivating. Engrossing. You can't help but root for them.

I also loved how the author wove poetic prose of fire and inferno throughout the story ... the way thread is woven together to make a whole.

_____________
The man was here all along, he was just standing in the shadows, soaked in gasoline, waiting patiently to burn. The fire has sparked and it blazes like an inferno.
_____________

Beautiful. I think the story, the title, the love, the poetic prose fully encapsulates the book as a masterpiece. Kudos to this author. They really took extra care on this one. And because of that, it deserved more than 5 stars.

As this story ends, leaving our hearts in pieces but at the same time cutting us with it's shards and pooling our blood together .... I leave you with this final quote:
_____________
He was the bright, burning inferno of light we needed in our dark world. We just didn’t know it yet.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review.

I'm alone. All alone. Nothing but a bad boy trying so hard to be a good man. It's time to leave everything I know and find them. My family. Uncle Charles is a real man. a strong, commanding man. Someone who teaches his two children how they must present themselves in this hard, confusing world. And he welcomes me with open arms. His world isn't like mine, though. The rules are different. Dark. Confusing. Twisted. Wrong. But, still,I understand. Rather than shy away from his unusual teachings, I thirst for them. Crave every lesson, each punishment, and all the rewards. I'm where I was meant to be. Most men want to be like their father when they grow older. I want to be like Uncle Charles. And when he is no longer able to teach, I have a few lessons of my own.

This is a story written in the Inferno world about Luke Greene who will later become known as Pater. This is how he became who he became. We meet Peter as he has lost his mom and now knows that it is time to go out in the world and become a man. That leads him to his Uncle Charles and his twin children Kristopher and Karen. A Uncle who teaches his children the lessons that need to be taught in his mind to make them good wives and husbands. I don't want to give anything else away about this book but I will tell you that I thought it was really good and now I need to read Inferno to find out what happens in the rest of Peter's story. This book is dark and twisted and will not be everyone's cup of tea. Heed the warnings in the first of the book because when I say it is twisted it is really super twisted.

What on earth did I just read?!
And at the same time...I actually want to read more?!
I want to find this series this is from, and I want me some more Pater!

THIS is NOT some romance thing. THIS was...forbidden romance/horror/slasher/psychological thriller/WTF am I reading. I don't know how else to explain it.

But for some reason, K Webster writes these books in such a way that you just can't put it down. She has extremely good talent in my eyes, because even as I cringe and wonder if it's even legal to tell people what I just read, I can't seem to put her books down.

I had no idea what Cognati was and I have not read any of the other books in the Infernal series, but I...I have to say I will! This was DARK. But at the same time, it was actually very good. It was messy, gory, cringie. It was forbidden romance, it was a psychological thriller that just kept me at the edge of my seat (kind of) and I just couldn't stop reading.

Read it all in one go! Which is what K Webster is currently doing to me.

She's also thoroughly blackening my soul I think, haha, and really pushing my limits!!
But it's a fun feeling. I love authors who do this and do it this well.

There are definitely strong cases of triggers in this book and it's not for the faint-hearted. But again...if you read Life of Anna this isn't going to scare you.

Now I need to find more Infernal because I feel like this is some sort of "Prologue".

5 - unpure-wickedly-dark stars from me.
