Summer, 1971 at the New Jersey Shore. America is a country at war - abroad and at home. An entire nation is clamoring for change. And over a sweltering Independence Day weekend, a sea of simmering tensions are set to boil over. For Surf City Police Chief Mickey Cleary, a new kind of threat and a new kind of enemy will imperil both her and those she cares for. The sleepy little towns up and down Long Beach Island are about to wake up.

Brings back memories of my summers at the Jersey shore. Lots of nostalgic period details that will appeal to those of us who lived it. I can't help wondering if younger readers understand how the Vietnam War tore the country apart back then.
I liked that this took place on Long Beach Island. I enjoyed all the call outs to places like the Surf City Hotel and Ol’ Barney. But the “mystery” itself was dull.
This was well written and enjoyable where the reader could follow along easy and I'm not just say I'm my it because I'm in Barnegat! I am truly enjoying this series 100%
Another great read about LBI, Chief Mickey & Old Barney. The war is wearing on our favorite characters as well as some newbies to the Jersey Shore. The Surf City police are busy as always. A lot of action, crime & camaraderie plus a surprise!
