Sundae Leighton writes romance novels that are sweet with a dark twist. She got her start writing fanfiction with her friends in school, but didn’t take the plunge to publish her first book (Picture Perfect) until 2020. Born and raised in Connecticut, where she currently resides with her husband and their cats. She sometimes scares herself when she writes things darker than intended, considers coffee the nectar of the Gods, and once ran the NYC marathon (OK - half marathon). When she isn’t writing down what the voices in her head tell her to, she likes watching murder shows, NASCAR, and reading romance books with lots of dark angst.

I'm a racing fan, so I was so excited to finally find a romance that centered around the racing world. You don't need to be a fan, though, to read this book! I read this book in one sitting because I couldn't break away!

Brooklyn is a photographer, still grieving the death of her fiance, when she takes a freelance job at a race track. There, she encounters Rand, the bad boy driver who only cares about himself. Despite their best efforts, they find themselves drawn to each other. What follows is a love story that had me hooked from the start.

Leighton's characters are all well-rounded, and I found myself even interested in the side characters and what they were going through in their lives. Rand was such a jerk (to put it lightly) at the start of the novel, but I found myself rooting for him anyway. The storyline was well-paced and I had to keep reading to find out how everything would play out. I thought I had it figured out, but there was a bit of a surprise toward the end!

I'm so glad that this is the start of a series because I cannot wait to find out what happens next!

I am so excited I found this series! I am a Nascar fan (Bowman!) and this was such a treat. Dark, sexy, and perfect when it comes to a dirty alpha. I loved learning about Brooklyn and Rand, how they met, the love/hate relationship they had in the beginning. SO GOOD!

This is such an amazing story, I read it in one day.
Brooklyn (Sully) a freelance photographer and Rand a NASCAR driver. It was hate for her at first due to age difference and she swore off NASCAR drivers after Cooper who did her wrong in so many ways and then died in a car accident.
Rand was younger than Brooklyn and a driver. From the moment he met Brooklyn in fell hard. Now he just needed to convince her.

Since I first read Sundae Leighton I've been wanting to get my hands on this book, and I can't believe it's taken me so long! Rand & Sully were a couple that I really liked meeting, especially after reading their appearances in Out of the Dark & The Lying Tree, their story was very interesting, unexpected and I was delighted to discover thanks to it the great growth that Sundae has had as an author since her first book.

Sully was the one who broke my heart the mosts: her life has not been easy and she has had to confront the death of her fiancé, the health problems of her sister and an unstable financial situation, however she's a strong, courageous woman who is not afraid to speak her mind, especially if Rand is involved, and although I didn't understand very well because she hated him right after meeting him, I have to say that I loved reading Sully put him in his place over and over again.

Rand stole my heart right away! He's the bad boy of NASCAR, a young driver with a promising future, who stands out wherever he goes thanks to his large size and his body covered in tattoos, in addition to being known for being a womanizer and a bit reckless, however, a lot of it is just a facade to protect his heart from the damage that people can cause him, something that has happened to him several times throughout his life and which was a little sad to know. And although I fell in love with Rand with her playful personality, flirtatiousness and sensuality, there were also moments when I didn't quite understand her behavior and it seemed to me that her reactions came out of nowhere, so I think her character lacked a bit of work.

As for the love story, I don't know if it can be considered an insta love, because Sully & Rand fall in love super fast, BUT so much happens between them in such a short time that I can't complain about the way Sundae developed their relationship. Not even after that surprising start to the second part, which would have bothered me if I hadn't read this author before. Also, I think these two are so cute together, I loved reading them talking about their future, helping each other heal and overcoming all the obstacles in life.

Desde que leí por primera vez a Sundae Leighton he estado deseando poner mis manos en este libro, y no puedo creer que tardara tanto! Rand & Sully fueron una pareja que me gustó muchisimo conocer, especialmente después de leer sus apariciones en Out of the Dark & The Lying Tree, su historia fue muy interesante, inesperada y me encantó descubrir gracias a ella el gran crecimiento que Sundae ha tenido como autora desde este primer libro.

Sully fue quien más me rompió el corazón de los personajes principales: su vida no ha sido, ni es, nada sencilla y ha tenido que enfrentar la muerte de su prometido, los problemas de salud de su hermana y una situación económica inestable, sin embargo es una mujer fuerte, valiente y que no tiene miedo de decir lo que piensa, especialmente si Rand está involucrado, y aunque no entendí muy bien porque lo odió nada más conocerlo, tengo que decir que me encantó leer a Sully ponerlo en su lugar una vez tras otra.

Rand se robó mi corazón de inmediato! Es el chico malo de NASCAR, un joven con un futuro prometedor, que destaca a donde quiera que va gracias a su gran tamaño y su cuerpo cubierto de tatuajes, además de que es conocido por ser un mujeriego, fiestero y un poco imprudente, sin embargo, mucho de eso no es más que una fachada para proteger su corazón del daño que las personas le pueden causar, algo que le ha pasado varias veces a lo largo de su vida y que fue un poco triste conocer. Y aunque Rand me enamoro con su personalidad juguetona, coquetería y sensualidad, también hubo momentos en los que no entendí muy bien su comportamiento y me pareció que sus reacciones salían de la nada, así que creo que faltó un poco de trabajo en su personaje.

En cuanto a la historia de amor, no sé si se puede considerar un insta love, porque Sully & Rand se enamoran súper rápido, PERO pasan tantas cosas entre ellos en tan poco tiempo que no me puedo quejar por la forma en la que Sundae desarrolló su relación. Ni siquiera después de ese sorpresivo inicio de la segunda parte, el cual me hubiera molestado si no hubiera leído a esta autora antes. Además, creo que estos dos son muy lindos juntos, me encantó leerlos hablar de su futuro, ayudarse a sanar el uno al otro y superar todos los obstáculos de la vida.

As a fan of racing I was super excited to find this book. I loved it. Rand was a perfect alpha and Brooklyn was the woman that he needed to tame him. I can't wait to read more!

I love the enemies to lovers trope and the plot was really great, however the beginning was a bit too fast paced for me. I would have loved to see them into more confrontational situations before they gave into their feelings and realized thay actually liked and loved each other. The story was otherwise great, even though at times it seemed a bit childish, but then I remembered that Rand was only 20 years old, so it fit, duh! Great read overall.

I always enjoy reading books with different settings and NASCAR is a fun one. Rand is super sweet with a bad boy look. Brooklyn was not my favorite and not sure she deserves Rand. Good read though.

I loved the characters names. I loved the characters and story line. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster. I didn't like every thing that happened in the book but I loved the fact the characters are flawed. This book gave me all kind of feels and that is the best part of reading a great book!!
