Jack and Ham’s first solo case is placed on pause just as the tale of a treasure is brought to light. As the case progresses, Vi and Rita dive in, and somehow it becomes a competition between the two couples. Things, however, take a sideways turn and the couples must unite and work together to protect all they hold dear.
Book TWENTY-THREE in the Violet Carlyle Mysteries. Are you ready for the roaring twenties? You’ll love Vi, her patient husband Jack, her indulgent twin Vic, and their friends. For fans of Carola Dunn, Jacqueline Winspear, Georgette Heyer, and Lee Strauss. A light, cozy mystery with a fun peek into life in the life of a bright young thing. No swearing, graphic scenes, or cliffhangers.
I adore the Violet Carlyle series. The characters are loveable, the plot are fun, and they are quick reads. I highly recommend reading the entire series
I understand Violet and Victor and Rita have a lot of money, except it's never been pointed out exactly how rich they are. Millionaires? Billionaires? The money isn't inexhaustible - if one is overly frivolous and doesn't continue investing, playing the money game, it can run dry. What's so difficult about easing our minds? Really; the ones with money are dilettante who was waste money. Who needs that many dresses in a fashion style that won't last forever? That much jewelry? Shoes, furs, homes? It seems Vi has handed over a lot of control over to Beatrice. Not that she strikes me as a thief; however, Violet has no idea of the house costs - taxes, bills, upgrades, repairs. She hands out money like they're cookies or candy, buys things on a whim. Lifestyles like hers don't hold onto their wealth. I'm not enjoying the twins and their little group of friends much anymore.
Wow this book in the series had it all. I was absolutely enthralled! First my kudos to author Beth Byers. I have read every previous book in this series, but this is by far the funniest. I actually lol at the hysterical banter among Vi and her friends and family. There were great bon mots in the other books but these came fast and furious. Just when I thought this was a comedy things got serious .Vi is forced to choose between giving up information or having or having a beloved friend hurt in her presence. I cried. Then the conclusion stupified me! I really had no idea. Great easy read.(Again with the caveat, author please get a better proof reader!!!).
Love this series! This whole cozy series has everything for a cozy winter snow day…..cute babies, adorable dogs, parties (followed by dreadful hangovers of course), evil doers doing evil deeds (and an occasional murder), love and romance (no sex), mysteries to solve, and good friends. I have the next one on my “to be read shelf” all set to read. Read them in order so you have the backstory. Enjoy!
No actual murders, but hurt a plenty. Treasure hunters are some of the craziest people on earth and the longer you are one, the crazier you get. The plot is easily followed, the gang is split up and a person is hurt and the other threatened harm. A family spent their entire lives searching and were quite mad from it and Violet finds the key to it in less than five days. Such age the vagaries of Life. I highly recommend this book.
A buried treasure on the grounds of Rita and Ham's house. Could this be the diversion Violet and Rita need to get them past the boredom while their husbands are working a case? But are they the only ones looking for the treasure? How far will the others go to procure it? Good easy read! Enjoy!
Good to check in with Violet and co. (Except Lily who barely appears) as they investigate a possible treasure sought by the Hollands brothers from Rita and Ham’s wedding. It ends up becoming more dangerous than they thought (of course). Quarantine read. Love this series.
Another wonderful book, I really enjoyed this book the characters are really well written,it's great to see the characters develop over time and to see the relationships grow between the couples, can't wait for the next one .
I always enjoy Vi and her gang. This story is just as entertaining as all the others in this series but underneath the story it felt like a lesson in life. What is really of value? Love, family, friends and time with them.
Love this series. Fun people yould love to hang with , great cozy mystery, action in an elegant setting. Their fortunes demand a willing suspension of disbelief, but it is fiction.
Really good book! Violet and her group of young things do seem to handle murder quite well. With everyone paired off and staring to have families, it's great to read how they still find ways to solve mysteries.
A disappointing end to this particular story. I spent all this time reading a story about a treasure and do not know what it actually was. It’s as if the final chapter wasn’t written.
A twisty turny ride for the reader of this delightful cozy mystery. A mystery treasure that has been hunted for decades. You won't put it down until you win!
Sometimes the stories in this series are repetitious, but this one was a great mystery with a reminder of the importance of family. Love the connection these characters have with one another.
A good murder mystery with twists and turns and peril along the way. Also, how a fun treasure hunt can take a deadly turn when you least expect it to. ❣️💃🏻😈🙀🥰😒
