A sultan sworn to bring down the mountains.

Spirits seeking revenge.

When war comes to Astaran, Kisrabah is faced with an impossible army.

This battle will decide the fate of both the human and spirit realms. But Zadie’s come to realize that magic, not might, will determine the outcome of this war.

At the end of it all, will she sacrifice everything to save the man and the kingdom she loves?

Zadie has been rescued but instead of going back home they have to try to get the book of names which has the true names of the spirits, with that they can bind the spirit and either control them into fighting their battle or banishing them to their realm.

They don't find the book and have to rush back to their kingdom in order to help prepare for war. You see, in the last book the brilliant Zadie told Iram how to use the lamps and now he has brought the mountain down and he is leading his army into Artasan. Of course as a made-up villain , his army is comprised of the young people in his kingdom, conscripted regardless of their feeling to fight his war. His people live in fear and ever sympathizer of how the spirits are used are burnt at the stake. Even though the only spirits in this book is the one Zadie and Iram are using. How can they have sympathizer in his kingdom if there isn't any spirit in the kingdom or any kingdom for that matter but I digress.

Iram and his legion of spirits are decimating Kassims army and the war is almost lost until they realize that the book of names which they journeyed up to the mountain for is in the palace. Apparently Kassim's mom had a thief steal it just in case they ever need it someday , lo and behold the day has finally come. They are able to use it and evil is vanquished.

This series was mediocre at best. It keeps you interested even though you know nothing exciting is going to happen, I call that a gift.

Another fun book finished! I was happy again with this series, I really appreciate how the characters are not completely stupid, how they don’t rely on being magical to have worth, and how they all love and respect each other in their own ways.

I received a copy of the box set in exchange for an honest review and these are my thoughts specific to this title.

Good ending to the series. There were a few things that didn't feel as strong as the first three books, but it closed things up nicely and seemed to have more action and violence than the other books, too.

We cover a ton of ground and get to explore so much more of the kingdoms it seemed. I really like the Ali, Elian, Zadie, and Kassim travelling group and their dynamics.

Some of the conversations felt more stilted/forced, which was disappointing. But, most of the dialogue was good.

One question was raised during the balcony scene with Iram and Zadie and it never got addressed again...this made me think that maybe a traitor was in their midst, but it was completely dropped.

Phew reading this series has been a captivating, non-stop adventure, through the exotic world inhabited by our heroine Zadie and her Sultan Kassim. This final book was so breath taking I just had to read it in one sitting as I could not put the story down. Zadie risks life and limb a number of times as she battles fire breathing Azhdaha in the mountains through which she travels in order to find the book of names before Iram, of the Phoenites and Suna his sorceress got their hands on it. She, Kassim, Aliyah and Elian face ancient curses in their fight to free the spirits of the lamps before they are enslaved by Iram and used against them. However, the feud between the sultans is too strong, and is even worse now that Iram had kidnapped Zadie on her wedding day and imprisoned her in his dungeons, so war seems inevitable. This book is full of challenges for the people of Kizrabah, but Zadie fights tooth and claw to try to save and protect her city and most of all her sultan. She was the Sultanah, a long held dream she would see fulfilled if possible, but so many evil things stood in her way, namely the hundreds of spirits/demons who joined the war against them but even these did not deter her. I loved this book which is so full of love, courage and loyalty and a steadfastness which allowed nothing to take away a promised future. I loved the very beautiful ending where all loose ends were so neatly brought to a close but I know I am going to miss the beautiful characters of this series. I always enjoy Helena Rookwood's writing but this series was the first time I came across Elm Vince's work and I thing these two brilliant writers work wonders as a team and I look forward to reading anything else they write together hopefully in the near future.

One of the most enjoyable and fast paced series I've read. Loved the way it ended, but I wish it could go on. Zadie's transformation from someone with a single minded goal of becoming a Sultanah and constantly comparing herself with her sister, to becoming a person with varying priorities, understanding what is right, taking responsibilities and becoming her own person was amazing.
I also finally liked Kassim since the last book and didn't feel like strangling him for his chauvinistic attitude.
Saffiya is a sweetheart and Aliyah is one badass lady. I liked them way more than Zadie. I was so heartbroken when Elian died.
I'm not sure how I feel about Tarak, he was my favourite in the beginning, but after Lalana came, I found his behaviour a bit annoying towards Zadie. I'm a bit glad he finally acknowledged her instead of fawning over his sister just because she is pretty. I know the book says it's not just because of her beauty, but I wonder if he would have been as good if she was plain looking.
Overall, the series was awesome with a range of loved and hated characters. The world building was great. It was well written with so many adventures one after another.
I would definitely recommend this to all. It's my new favourite.

This has been a delightful, fun series all along. I looked forward to each book and was never bored or skipped ahead of sections. Rookwood and Elm's storytelling made this such a joy to read. I love books with strong female leads and Zadie, our female leed is without a doubt a strong character in a very positive sense. She may be afraid of a circumstance or a person but she stands up to it not letting the situation bring her down. By her strength, courage and compassion she is a great role model. Another plus for me is the clean romantic interaction that she has with Sultan Kassim her soon to be husband. This is also a series you can share with any young adult family member and not worry about the content. Not to worry though this does not lack for excitement, intrigue, adventure, magic and a whole lot of action. Queen of Djinn is a well done finale to the series, I was quite satisfied with the ending, nothing was left unanswered.

I started this series thinking that it had already been completed, and devoured the first three books in one night. Suffice to say I was desperate for Queen of the Djinn to arrive. Thankfully, it did not disappoint! It did rip my heart out before even reaching the halfway mark, but man was it worth it. All the character arks were wrapped up quite nicely, with a few loose ends/open ends that make me pray that there will be a spin off series (please let there be a spin off!). Zadie does backslide in her character development a few times here, but ultimately her growth - and the growth of those around her is impressive and well handled by the authors. If anyone is interested in Arabia Nights, 1001 Nights or loved Aladdin as a kid (or adult!) this series is definitely for you, and as an end to a series, Queen of the Djinn does not disappoint!

Excellent, fun series

‘This was a fun, well-written series. The clean romance and action were well-paced as was the ending (meaning it didn’t drag on). The series followed formulas of the genre quite closely, so it was a fun read, not designed to be a challenge. These are often the best.
Would highly recommend for those who like clean Romance and High Fantasy with a serious/darker twist.
The magic system in the series is quirky. On one level it’s the blood magic of sorcerers and the language of the Djinn. On another level, the Djinn are so uncontrollable, even when bound, that the magic is truly quirky. Also interesting is that the main character has no magical blood or ability to be a sorcerer.

Queen of djinn is the queen of happy endings

I have adored each book in this series and this one did not disappoint. We start with Kassim and Zadie escaping Phoenitia and following yet another crazy scheme of Zadie 's to find the book of names and free the spirits before Iram figures out how to control them and bring the mountains down. We meet some incredible new characters such as Maya of the Osmari people who live high in the mountains wandering where they choose. There is adventure and romance, joy and sadness, loss and battles. In the end it works out in a surprising twist that I absolutely loved. I won't spoil it for you. Just read it for yourself and see how incredible it is!

Oh, what a rollercoaster of a ride this final installment of the series was!!! An epic conclusion to the "Desert Nights" series, that had me at the edge of my seat the whole time! I read it in one sitting, I just couldn't put it down. Amazing characters (both good and evil), a unique magic system, tight-weaved plot, non stop action and adventure, unpredictable twists and turns, a love that transcends obstacles and a HEA that was expected but still... it was heartwarming.

Now that Zadie has found her happily ever after, I'd love to read a spin-off on her sister's second chance :hint, hint:

If you haven't read the series, I highly recommend it!!!

This is the fourth and final book in the Desert Nights series and all I can say is I enjoyed this book and I really enjoyed this series. I absolutely love Zadie and how she gets herself into stupid situations with her stupid plans but somehow manages to get out of them. In this book Zadie and Kassim’s relationship had me smiling so much with what happened and the epilogue has me very happen.

I am super content with where this series ended and do not for one second regret reading g this series. I’m very happy with everything that happened and am excited to read more by these two authors, both there individual books and any books the co-write together.

Ahh, such a magical series!

I love when the ending is as satisfying as the beginning, and stays true to the characters as they’ve developed over the series. This whole series has been well written and thoroughly edited. Excellent character development and world building, with good plotting and pacing. I really enjoyed every book, even the darker last two, where true pain and loss were inflicted on Zadie. No spoiler alerts, but know that every character is expendable to these authors. So fall in love at your own risk. But you won’t be able to help yourself, I’m sure. This really makes me crave more of my childhood fairytales retold as grownup tales like this one.

This is the best book in the series! I loved all the exploration of new places and the ramped-up action. Miya and the Osmari were a neat addition. The first half of this book was by far my favorite--the pacing, action, and storyline were superb! The ending to the major conflicts was wildly fast, but then we did get to see the recovery for a couple of chapters, which I appreciated. My one qualm was that Lalana just . . . bothered me for some reason? I kept thinking she wasn't going to be who she said she was; I think she felt too perfect and flat. Overall, a satisfying ending to this fun series!

I was tense all the way through

I was terrified for Zadie and her friends all the way through this book with good reason. They were up against a tyrant and powerful sorcerers. I wasn't sure if she could outsmart them this time.

There was never a dull moment. In fact, I had to take breaks in certain parts of the book because they were so intense. Once my butt muscles unclenched, I was able to continue reading.

It's sad to say goodbye to this series and the characters with whom I fell in love with. I'll have to look into reading more from this writing duo.

My review for books 3&4.

I really enjoyed the plot twist that were in these two! I loved the villains, the main villain in book 4 was *chefs kiss* fantastic.

I only had a few complaints with these two books. My main one was that it felt super rushed in the end. My other complaint was regarding Zadie's sister. I don't feel like she offered a lot to the story, she just kinda was there for Tarak.

Speaking of Tarak, I loved him. On more than a few occasions, his dialog made me laugh out loud. He was so snarky and I loved every bit of it.

I did love the adventure the series offered. It remained consistent throughout the series and I always wondering where the adventure would go next.

Total series rating : 4.3/5. Would def recommend!!

This book! What a crazy adventure this book took me on, even with the events from the previous three books! I loved this series so much! It's definitely in my top 5 series for 2020!

The world building, the characters (both major and minor), and the magic was just phenomenal. I can't wait to see if these two authors come out with more books! I will be snatching them up in a heartbeat!

An exciting read that takes the reader on another fantastic adventure, although that adventure is filled with many surprises, much danger, and some heartbreak. The characters are like old friends and when something scary happens, the reader is drawn in hoping for the best for the friends. I enjoyed this fantasy and am sorry to see the series end, but the Ms Rookwood will delight with other reads that will be fantastic.

Can’t even explain how amazing this book is!!

I wish I could put into words how amazing this series is but it is quite impossible! I feel like this is a one of a kind story and gave me some Aladdin type vibes in how I pictured the story which was an amazing thing because I do t hunk I’ve ever read a book like it plus the spirts and how that plays into it there literally isn’t a book like this and I will recommend it a million times over its that good!

This book throws our friends from the frying pan to the fryer many times. At some points you are not sure how they are going to survive. These predicaments have the deck stacked against them.
Lots of adventure and chaos....but not to worry, Zadie has a plan!!!!

Great series!! So sad to say goodbye to these endearing characters.

I really enjoyed reading the whole Desert Nights series, but thoroughly enjoyed this final installment as Zadie becomes the true Sultanah she was destined to be, with daring mountain adventures as well as an impending war, Queen of the Djinn was all I expected it to be!

DNF somewhere not very far into it. The other books in the series were decent enough. But life got busy and I had to press pause on this book and I have not been able to pick it back up again. There’s just absolutely nothing enticing about this book.
