Phew reading this series has been a captivating, non-stop adventure, through the exotic world inhabited by our heroine Zadie and her Sultan Kassim. This final book was so breath taking I just had to read it in one sitting as I could not put the story down. Zadie risks life and limb a number of times as she battles fire breathing Azhdaha in the mountains through which she travels in order to find the book of names before Iram, of the Phoenites and Suna his sorceress got their hands on it. She, Kassim, Aliyah and Elian face ancient curses in their fight to free the spirits of the lamps before they are enslaved by Iram and used against them. However, the feud between the sultans is too strong, and is even worse now that Iram had kidnapped Zadie on her wedding day and imprisoned her in his dungeons, so war seems inevitable. This book is full of challenges for the people of Kizrabah, but Zadie fights tooth and claw to try to save and protect her city and most of all her sultan. She was the Sultanah, a long held dream she would see fulfilled if possible, but so many evil things stood in her way, namely the hundreds of spirits/demons who joined the war against them but even these did not deter her. I loved this book which is so full of love, courage and loyalty and a steadfastness which allowed nothing to take away a promised future. I loved the very beautiful ending where all loose ends were so neatly brought to a close but I know I am going to miss the beautiful characters of this series. I always enjoy Helena Rookwood's writing but this series was the first time I came across Elm Vince's work and I thing these two brilliant writers work wonders as a team and I look forward to reading anything else they write together hopefully in the near future.
