A very fast paced murder mystery. The main character, Kaiser Wrench, is a tiger investigating the murder of his best friend, a lion buddy from the war. Set in a furry version of the fifties, with a very large variety of species.

Kaiser is a bit of unlikable heel, and this book follows noir detective trope of almost every woman in the book throwing themselves at him, sometimes literally.

At first I thought that the author P. C. Hatter used animals as a Metaphor for the characters names and occupations, eventually I realized that its not, that its a detective cartoon genre and amazingly it was pretty good if not better then just good something in between good and excellent !!!
Narrating the whole thing by: James Scott Spaid probably wasn’t easy but was artistically and professionally done beautifully wrapping the whole thing into a perfect packaging.

Oded Ostfeld.

Ps:
The audiobook which I got for reviewing includes the first five books of the series which does not exist on Goodreads so only here I’ll copy / paste my review to each of the five.

This short furry mystery opens with protagonist and narrator Kaiser Wrench, a tiger detective, visiting the crime scene of the murder of his leonine war buddy Jeremy Wilkins, which provides clear direction for the narrative, with the twist of who did it gripping readers until the end. The book definitely puts quality above quantity, and is largely clear as to what species the specific characters are, except perhaps for the psychiatrist Sylvia Gamal, who is mentioned as a “chameleon,” although I’m not certain if that was a metaphor. There’s also frequent discrepancy in the spelling of the initial murder victim’s first name, but overall, I definitely wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this story.

This storyline reminds me of old Noir movies with a bit of humor and intrigue. I found the characters to be fun and quirky with characters that fit in perfectly. James Scott Spaid did a phenomenal job with the voices he was absolutely on point. I highly recommend this book if you love intrigue, murder, humor and a fun. I can't wait to start book 2. I received this book for free upon my request. This is my honest unbiased review that I am voluntarily leaving of my own volition. Perfect read and or listen.

The Poached Parody series are private eye pulp noir stories but with anthropomorphic characters.
I, the Tribunal is the first story featuring Kaiser Wrench, a tiger private eye.
I enjoyed this novella. Not just that it's a good noir story full of murder, mayhem, betrayal and clues. It's Kaiser isn't a copy of Lucius from the Long Slumber with husky swapped out for tiger. Both are distinct characters with different traits and methods.

If you enjoy pulp noir you'll probably enjoy this.
