So this is a favourite author of mine so I knew straight off I was going to enjoy this.
As usual, the writing here was fantastic pulling me in and easily investing me in the building drama.
This is part of a larger series it’s book 4 but can also be read as a stand-alone I did and managed to follow along.
It’s also connected to other series by this author which I have read her Broken and also her Devils Reach again reading these is not a necessity.
Saying that I do think it would definitely enhance your experience and there were times where I did get slightly lost with all the many characters.
Reading the other Blackstone books would have made it easier to keep track of everyone.
I also think there were some small bits of information that would make more sense if you had again read the previous books.
The only reason I didn’t read them before this one was due to a lack of time, I do have them On my TBR list and do plan to get round to them.
So I enjoyed this it had a good pace and an interesting story which kept me turning the pages.
This is Blackstone operative John Black and lawyer Sloane’s story.
Sloane is pulled into the exclusive Blackstone fold for two reasons.
First because she’s a family friend of Frank and needs somewhere to lie low after upsetting a previous high-profile and criminal client and second the Cartel is picking off members of the North Rock and Blackstone team.
The Cartel always seems to be one step ahead of Blackstone knowing things and having information that should not be assessable.
It’s Sloane’s job to dig deep and discover the truth so they can plug the leak.
While doing her job the two are instantly drawn to each other and while Sloane is more open to the possibilities John is a much tougher sell he also has some family issues that he’s been keeping to himself.
Ones that also close him off to others and John definitely likes to build walls.
He’s a quiet gruff man but so solid dependable and incredibly loyal.
I liked him and Sloane a lot and they had such great chemistry.
I also loved the dog Tripper in fact I think he may have been my favourite character here.
This one was filled with action and intrigue but also heavily family influenced with all the past characters inclusion here.
It was a solid read that had plenty to recommend it and this author for me always delivers consistently and I can definitely and easily recommend.

Edge of your seat page turner
We're back! Oh, I so love the Blackstone crew.
We Finally, FINALLY get John's book, I can tell you I've been waiting since I read Broken over 5 years ago!
I'll tell you the wait was WELL WORTH IT!
J.L. Drake did it again, she's created this world that just gets better with every book. Even with this final installment in the Blackstone Series, you wouldn't know it.
She creates such a tangled web, that you didn't realize the breadcrumbs were right there all along. And when they all click.....Wham & Yes, I yelled OMG! She knows how to keep me on the edge of my seat, flipping pages as fast as I can to find the answers.
The depth of her characters & the world they are in is what keeps me coming back for more. And you never know who you'll run into.
I can't wait to see what she has coming in 2021!

The Blackstone boys are back in town and boy oh boy they hit the ground running.
J.L. Drake has you right in the thick of it from the very beginning. You get the heart pounding action, the off the charts chemistry, some OMG laughing, some oh no crying and the oh wow twists & turns that Drake is so good at. This book was so worth the wait.

Wow, this was one of my most anticipated book wanting to know more about John. And I wasn't disappointed. J.L Drake hit this book out of the park. I couldn't put this book down at all.
I loved John and Sloane together, John tried to ignore his feelings so he can deal with his life challenges. But he finally gives in. I love them together as she gives him purpose and he gives her love.
I loved Sloane with Ellie. You could tell Sloane really cared and wanted to help them all out.
I loved Tripper in this book. That dog was hilarious.
I highly recommend this book and series.

J.L. Drake has the amazing ability to draw you into an action filled world where you never quite know where you’re going to end up next. This story is an amazing balance between dark action and amazing family love, with some 🔥🔥🔥ness in between. John is the quiet but fiercely loyal Blackstone member, Sloane is a ruthless lawyer, hunting down truth. Together they seem unstoppable. Another 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 read.

J.L. Drake does it again!! The Blackstone boys are at it again and they don’t disappoint. John and Sloane knocked it out of the park with their instant chemistry. John loves to take control given what life has thrown at him from his past and losing his best friend Paul. BUT he met his match with Sloane. She’s takes him head on and he didn’t even see it coming. You can feel every single emotion in this book and not just with them. The Blackstone house is the DEFINITION of true love, loyalty and the fierceness that is needed to be a part of them. I loved how sneaky Jodi was in this book throwing people in there, the conflict, the raw emotions you felt when it all came together. John has won my heart over but can you really resist?! Is this really the end of Blackstone?! Thank you for yet another incredible read!!

This was a really great ending to a fantastic series of books.
Them Blackstone boys were out on a mission, again, but something was terribly wrong, they felt it, but what - The Cartel was always one step ahead and right on their sixes. Enter Sloane, an extremely capable lawyer from DC with her own set of skills, and a family friend of Frank’s, she’s in need of some protection from an unhappy client, who just won’t give up.
John and Sloane feel the sparks almost immediately, and soon after act on them, but John is closed off and doesn’t feel he’s deserving of any happiness, events that occurred years before, but are still very much in the forefront of his life, are silently dictating his every move. As for Sloane, a recent unhappy breakup have soured her on the idea of any kind of serious relationship, let’s just have fun.
It was extremely satisfying to see all the characters, kids too, of these books we’ve grown adore, come together as the friendly, loving, caring family we love. Sorry to see it end.

Blackstone Boys are Back!!
John Black is a great soldier but he’s reserved and quiet. A loner.
Sloane Harlow is a lawyer. Her last case went sideways and now she’s being threatened.
Love the dog Tripper.
“Well, seeing that you stole my dog…” I smirked. “Not my fault. He’s a giant flirt.” Can’t blame him.
There is a lot going on in this story. It starts out with a bang and keeps the momentum until the end. A beautiful love story with many ups and downs and betrayal on all sides.
“I didn’t understand how the wall I built up for years could crumble with a single look from you, my beautiful woman.
“Sloane,” I rubbed her leg, “you gave me a reason to come home, a reason to care and not be reckless. I came home because of you.”

If you like an action packed military read that also have some romance, then you'll love this book. The storyline has me hooked from the first chapter. This is my first time reading this author but I can tell you it won't be my last.

They’re back! Blackstone’s John finally gets his story written. You get to catch up with everyone but it’s not without the suspense and woven webs you’re used to from Jodi! It was great to meet Sloane, she’s feisty and determined. This is another fantastic nail-biting story that leaves you wanting to hear more from the Shadows Family.

The final installment of the Blackstone Series is here and I'm not ready for it to be done. It all started with my favorite - The Broken Trilogy. It took me 2 days to put this review together because I can't seem to find the words adequate enough to express just how much this book impacted me.
From the first time I read Broken, I knew I needed to know more about John... and with each subsequent release in the series, I grew more and more needy with how badly I needed him to get his story. I love Mark, Mike and Keith, don't get me wrong... but John was always just on the edge pulling me in.
John is a man who holds his cards close... not wanting to burden anyone with the things he carries. Enter Sloane. The one woman who can bring this man to his knees. When missions start going wrong, you're on the edge of your seat trying to figure it out alongside them. JL Drake takes you on the ride of your life as each and every detail spins into a tangled web that will leave you breathless as you read it.
From the very beginning, you are sucked into the world of Blackstone. And it's not just the missions, it's the families, the love, the suspense. Each and every moment pivotal as you watch it all unfold. You can't put it down, you can't miss a word... you are right there with them in the middle of the action.
JL's attention to detail will capture you in a way that this isn't just a book but a live-action movie playing in your head. From the minute it starts to the very last moment, you are intertwined with the Shadows and there is no escape.
Five stars for this captivating piece of work that brought me to my knees begging for more when it was all said and done.

Another Blackstone book and can I say she has knocked it out of the park again. John and Sloane’s story is one for the books. It keeps you intrigued from the beginning to the end. And I live the fact we get a glimpse into how everyone else is doing.

This book... this book was everything! Yep, that pretty much sums it up! Like seriously EVERYTHING!
What does everything mean? It means this book had it all. Suspense, romance, amazing characters, humor, steam, an original plot, and most of all... it had the mysterious John Black! The strong, silent, mountain climbing, Blackstone team member...with baggage. That is my crack right there folks...give me a strong, silent, protector...who climbs mountains! I am dunzo!
Sloane is a strong, intelligent lawyer, that took on the wrong case and now needs to hide out for a bit while things cool down. Frank decides the best place for her to hide out is at Shadow's. See, in Frank's eyes, he can kill two birds with one stone. Sloane can stay safe from her former clients, and because she has a knack for finding the truth...she can help Blackstone get to the bottom of their problem. What problem? It seems the cartel is one step ahead of them. Can Sloane figure out how the cartel is getting their intel before people die? Can she find the answers Blackstone needs to save the team?
I am just going to stop there because part of the joy of reading this book was I had no spoilers, had read no reviews, and just went in to it knowing that J.L. Drake would blow me away, and she did! I laughed, I teared up, I held my breath, I cursed, my heart broke, and it got put back together. I went through the entire gamut of emotions with this book. However, the biggest emotion... was simply joy.
Joy, because Courage brought me home again, to the Shadow's with the characters that have become family over the years. This book is literally EVERYTHING!! It was exactly what I didn’t know I needed and EVERYTHING that I wanted!!
I think this is my favorite J.L. Drake book now, and that is over Devils Reach...and I have been #TeamTrigger for years, but Courage... J.L. Drake up'd her game for this one! This was EVERYTHING!! This book gets all the recommendations from me and I simply cannot praise this book enough! Bravo J.L. Drake... Bravo! And just FYI...I would meet John at the peak anytime!

It's been a hot minute since I was introduced to the Blackstone world, and let me tell you, it feels like just yesterday. The more I read, the more their world came back to me. And what a world it is.
Suspense, action, questions without answers, missing pieces of a puzzle that needs to be unlocked before there are any more losses. These things are not new to Blackstone, but there's something amiss and they need to figure it out before the unthinkable happens. That's where Sloane comes in. She's an ace with details and digging up the truth. She may have gotten off on the wrong foot with the Blackstone crew, but a little time and a lot of patience and persistence and she more than proves her worth. John and Sloane's story is just as intense as the others. As always, the sense of family and brotherhood are central to the story.

The Blackstone boys are back again trying to take down the cartel and make it home safely. However, something is not right on their new mission and everyone feels it. The cartel are somehow one step ahead of Blackstone and danger is everywhere.
Frank pulls in lawyer Sloane to investigate how the cartel are always ahead of Blackstone and she quickly catches the eye of John Black. Sloane a tricky situation ongoing herself with an unhappy previous client who will not take no for an answer.
The story allows the readers to catch up with past characters and in true JL Drake style there’s those WTF moments!!
At one point I did have to stop reading and DM Jodi 🤣🤣🤣my heart was in my throat!!!

I adore his character! He’s committed to the team, an amazing friend and the most incredible uncle to Olivia. The scenes of John and Olivia together are beyond adorable!
Tripper! LOVE him!!! Perfect addition to the team and I think he might also be my favourite pet in the blackstone team (sorry scoot)

JL Drake has built a fabulous world with Blackstone and I was THRILLED to see that this book would be releasing soon- totally a huge fan of this author and series! John Black is made up of true blue hero stuff and is all kinds of hot and loyal and just WOW- if you can't tell I am a huge fan! Courage is the story of John and Sloane and is a freaking fantastic book!
This book is HOT and sweet and I loved the action packed story line. I will always be behind this author because she delivers books that are the perfect mix of everything I like in in romance novels and Courage kept me hooked from the first paragraph and loved how everything was tied up and explained throughout the story- I loved it and give it 5 outta 5 stars!

Courage is the longest of the Blackstone books and a culmination of the series. One the best for last it's quite layered. This is John's story. It's been long awaited if you follow the series. Throughout the books the guys all played a part same here. When they've been after this cartel who seems to know their playbook. They just don't know how. When the current mission goes bad they bring a lawyer to help out. They really are in a tough spot with everything happening to their teams.
Sloane is somewhat hiding and helping out. She had a big case with the mafia that's causing them to come after her so she's laying low. I never realized how secretive John has been he has his this other side to his life. Comes from a farming family and has a sister who has a brain injury. I have to note the author tackled that issue well. How it affected a their family and John and everything.
Lots of things happened in this hard to elaborate all. But basically the enemy is hunting the special teams. Sloan is did her best to find out why. It's also a lot of adjustment for her being part of Blackstone in way. The lifestyle and all. She and John had their fair share of issues to start but it was communicated and solved well. They didn't have much drama between them it's more external. This one had a lot of action and in between.
It was a nice wrap up to this series from the the feel of it. We all see the members have happy endings. I enjoyed their camaraderie and the bond between each of the guys. It was evident through the series.

Good story.
This continues in the Blackstone secret ops world do there are lots of references and appearances from previous couples plus spin off series.
I would say it's best to read series in order but each couple receive a book except for the original couple, Cole and Savi, which were a trilogy.
The Hero has issues with relationships, this is not only due to the job but also guilt over his twin sister who has a brain injury.
The heroine was a bit tstl (too stupid to live) at times but generally okay.
She has come to Blackstone to hide out for a bit, a case she was involved in centred around the Mob, an ex who seemed as if it was going to be drama but wasn't and a father whose identity is kept a bit hush for a while.
Everytime she leaves the Mob jump in so why did she still travel.....
No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
Non man-whore Hero.
HEA.

I didn’t think anyone could knock Mark out of my top spot for Blackstone book boyfriend #2 (because c’mon ladies, we all know Cole will always and forever be #1) but the Scott Eastwood doppelgänger went and did it!
Courage sucked me in and didn’t spit me back out until I finished the very last page in record time. I was so captivated by both John and Sloane, that I couldn’t put this story down! I adored what a strong heroine the author created with Sloane and how she held her own the entire time. John was his typical apprehensive self but showed signs of vulnerability that we hadn’t seen before Ms. Harlow stepped into his line of sight. These two couldn’t have been more perfect for each other. The way Sloane fit seamlessly into John’s family dynamic just melted my heart! I absolutely adored the relationship that transpired between the heroine and John’s twin sister.
Drake brought the perfect mix of wit, romance, drama and heartbreak to the read. I needed a seriously strong Marcus Martini after I closed this book. My emotions has been put through the wrong net. Might have stopped breathing a time or two. Definitely needed a change of undergarments!
One thing you can always expect from this author is that she puts the necessary amount of time and effort into researching the storylines she writes, to ensure that even the littlest details are accurate and realistic. I truly appreciate the authenticity of her writing, especially when it comes to military romance.

As part of the Elite Team Blackstone, he has to have his head in the game on every mission. they're after a Mexican Cartel that is dangerous and deadly. They are attacking the team and successfully taking out some of them. He needs to be there 100% not distracted by family problems or the gorgeous attorney that's been brought in to help strategize.
Another amazing story of team, family, and evil. As the team grows and adds family, wives, and kids, it gets better and better. There is still plenty of action, steam galore, and humor. It seems that humor is what holds them together between missions. The women have to be as strong as the men in their own ways. They are the reason the men fight so hard to come home.
The men are wonderful, strong, can tease, and hot enough to heat the compound. The women keep the home fires burning, the kids in check, and often jobs of their own.
As for John and Sloane, he hasn't considered a family life besides his sister with her own problems after a serious accident. And Sloane, she has a former client stalking her, making demands. He's dangerous. No safer place to be than on the compound is there? But one danger she didn't plan on is John and the pull they feel to each other.
An exciting, fun, and action-filled read with old and new characters along with maybe their most dangerous mission yet.

This is the 4th book in this amazing series and is John and Sloane’s story. John is an operative for Blackstone, and he is a quiet, gruff, and tough man who had family issues. Sloane is a lawyer, and the chemistry between her and John is off the charts. Blackstone is trying to figure who their mole could be as the cartel always seems to be one step ahead of them and why they have information that they should not have access to. This is a well written tale, and this talented author weaves a tale in such a way that I was on tenterhooks throughout. This story is a riveting and all-consuming story which had action and intrigue and had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner. I cannot wait to read more from this author and highly recommend for all.

OMG I’m back home with my Blackstone Family!!!! John’s story did not disappoint, I enjoyed getting to know the Black family so much. Jodi you made me laugh, cry and get my blood pumping for sure on this wild ride of Courage!!!! John & Sloane make my heart happy with the love of they both have for John’s sister Ellie. This book added to my love of all things Blackstone and now we have so many amazing Blackstone women!!!! Cheers ladies lips, bits & tits hooha!!!!!

New favourite of the series!
Romantic suspense, intrigue and all the complications that life brings can be found in this story. An elite military team has to deal with than the next mission – as if that wasn’t enough. And there was a lot more than a single mission gone wrong here. Guilt, remorse, loss – I found all that and more in this fast-paced read. I couldn’t wait for John’s story and Sloane was just what he deserved…
Sloane was smart and she shouldn’t have had to semi-hide like she was doing. She was able to help family though and at the same time fall in love. Digging into John’s character was a treat, seeing what motivated him, how much he held back even from those he considered family. Throw in love, a deadly mystery, and all the ups and downs of falling in love, well, you have this wonderful story…
John and Sloane’s story ended up being my favourite so far of the series. I say that, because I hope there will be lots more from the Blackstones!

Sloane is strong and fierce and exactly who John needs in his life to be there for him as he is always there for everyone else. This story finds the perfect balance between romance and intrigue and it is always a pleasure to catch up with the other characters we know and love.

Blackstone is at it again. We’re chasing down the cartel, but this time, the tables have been flipped on us. Members of Team North Rock are being plucked off one by one. The race to understand what is happening can be the difference between life and death. This book in the series was absolutely brilliant, I really loved it. The story line was so addictive and interesting, so full of well thought out drama, action and hot sex, the chemistry between the characters was wonderful and oozed from them both, both very likable characters that it left you wanting more. This is a great read.

John is with Blackstone and they are after the cartel that keeps just a step ahead of them. Sloan is a lawyer that has her own secrets and is helping Blackstone. The two never intended to have a relationship but the spark is strong. A romantic suspense read that will leave you breathless.

John is a quiet, complicated man, but once Ms. Sloane Harlow shows up, with baggage of her own, his walls began to slowly crumble. Of course, these are the Blackstone men, so nothing ever comes easy in love or on a mission.
Drake grabs your attention from the beginning, throwing you right in the thick of it. Things quickly go sideways with Drake leading down a series of twists and turns you don't see coming. Special appearances throughout this book didn't go unnoticed, and it makes me hopeful for more.
The gang is all here, and like every other time, Drake makes me feel like I'm coming home again. She sucks you into their world and stamps their story on your heart. This is a series that stays with you and leaves you eager for more. One can only hope this is not the true end.

John Black is the man we’ve waiting for in the Blackstone world! He’s the quiet, mysterious one but once you get to know him he’s amazing and will do anything for those he loves! Sloane is his the one he’s been waiting for, she’s absolutely perfect for him!! It was so nice to catch up the whole (kids included!) Blackstone gang in Courage!! JL Drake does not disappoint!!
