If you fear public speaking but need to do it anyway, this book helps you face that fear and provides excellent ideas about giving a presentation, providing information on the tools that will help you along the way (whether intangible tools that help mindset of actual tools like software). The author spends almost half the book discussing and addressing fear. First, he tells you that you really shouldn't be afraid and then discusses the way that fear can affect you, wrapping up the fear section by looking at ways you can address or move past it. When you get your fear under control, he helps you work on communication before spending some good time on actually crafting your speech and presentation slides, even discussing some software options for the presentation. One thing that I did find amusing was that he discussed several presentation software but not actually PowerPoint, even though he did talk about Google Slides and Keynote. In talking about creating your speech, he focuses on the beginning and the end, though he does discuss what you should do in the middle as well. He wraps up the book within two chapters that look more closely at how to attract an audience during your speech and how to, essentially, avoid shooting yourself in the foot. This guide is concise and super practical. If you need to up your public speaking game, this book could very well help you do that, especially if you have any big fear surrounding it.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
