I was surprised FINALLY I read how he JT-3 became the JT-3D! This is off the charts GEEKING but wonderful off the charts geeking an indepth yet logical explanation of every technological advancement that lead to the 707 and how the Boeing 247 was superceeded by the airplane series that culiminaed in the DC-3 the book provides through words and disagrams a brilliant explanation of jet engine technology and explains how the original yaw damper worked in understandable words and pictures. The book largely lacks he personalty dramas that Clive Irving and others highlight but describes in logical understandable ways much of the technology that lead to the 707 and how it rendered the Bristol Britania obsolete.

An interesting "inside story" of the path leading to the 707, which was one of the first swept wing commercial airliners and set the path to the future.
