Le soufisme est la dimension intérieure de l'islam sunnite. Prenant sa source dans le Coran et dans la Tradition prophétique, il a souvent été défini comme la « science des états spirituels » dont la maîtrise doit permettre à l'initié de dépasser son ego pour parvenir à la connaissance et à la contemplation de Dieu. Fondamentalement, le soufi aspire à puiser dans l'influx spirituel ( baraka ) du prophète Muhammad, transmis depuis des siècles de maître à disciple, grâce auquel il pourra lutter contre les passions et les illusions qui l'assaillent.
Mettant en relief l'universalisme du soufisme, Eric Geoffroy explique comment s'est formée cette « science de l'intérieur », et comment, au fil des siècles, les grands maîtres ont adapté les doctrines et les pratiques initiatiques aux transformations du monde musulman. Il montre aussi que le soufisme constitue aujourd'hui un véritable antidote contre les divers intégrismes et qu'il est appelé à jouer un rôle croissant en Occident.

Eric Geoffroy, universitaire islamologue, est l'auteur de plusieurs ouvrages sur le soufisme.

كتاب الصوفية ..طريق الإسلام الجوانية

الإسم الأصلي للكتاب هو :
Initiation au soufisme

و من العنوان يتبين أن الكتاب هو مدخل للتصوف، وعندما نتكلم عن أي مدخل فيجب التطرق للقاموس الإصطلاحي أولا. وهذا ما بدأ به إيريك جوفري كتابه، حيث يجب على أسئلة من قبيل : ما التصوف ؟ ما الفرق بين الصوفي و المتصوف؟ ما طريق السلوك؟ كيف السبيل إلى معرفة الله؟ العلاقة بين العلم الظاهر والباطن؟
هذا عن الفصل الأول المسمى مقاربات، والذي أفرده للتعريفات الأولية، ناهيك عن علاقة الصوفية والتشيع، القسم النسوي للتصوف ثم إيضاح بعض الآراء الخاطئة عن الصوفية.
الفصل الثاني : الصوفية و الإسلام
تكملة للفصل الأول مع تبيان فلسفة الصوفية وطريقة استقائها لمبادئها من الكتاب والسنة
الفصل الثالث : التصوف في الثقافة الإسلامية : مدخل تاريخي
وهذا أجمل وأغنى فصل في الكتاب، يبتدئه بحال التصوف زمن الرسول محمد صلى الله عليه و سلم، ويستطرد في سرد حال المتصوفة وتطور الفكر الصوفي زمنيا و مكانيا على التوازي، فنجده يتطرق للمدرسة البغدادية، التصوف بأرض خراسان وفارس، الشعر الصوفي وعلاقته بالميتافيزيقا، ثم يأتي للتنظيم المادي الذي بدأ في فجر القرن 12، رأي أئمة المذاهب الأربعة في التصوف، ... إلى أن يصل لحال التصوف اليوم والعلماء المتصوفة المعاصرين.
أما الفصل الرابع فخصصه لواقع التصوف المعاش : العلاقة بين الشيخ والمريد و في الأخير يأتي على ذكر التصوف وانفتاح الأديان على بعضها في هذا الباب ثم مقارنة بين تصوف اليوم و الأمس.

يعتبر هذا الكتاب مدخل غني جدا لمن يحب أن يستنير عن التصوف، فكرا وفلسفة. لا كما يروج له اليوم، وعلاقته بالسلوكات الشنيعة من سحر وشعودة ودجل، ناهيك عن الصور النمطية التي رسخت بأذهاننا : من رقص مولوي، وأقبية، وحركات هيستيرية أشبه برقص مصاحب لموسيقى الميتال.
التصوف بريئ من كل هذا، فنجد أن ابن جلاء يقول : " التصوف حقيقة لا شكل لها"، أما الهجويري فيقول :"التصوف اليوم اسم بلا حقيقة، وقد كان من قبل حقيقة بلا اسم". هذا حال التصوف منذ مئات السنين، فما بالنا اليوم!!

لكل من يحب أن يتعرف على هذا العالم الذي أصبح مادة دسمة للروائيين اليوم، ابتداء من محمد حسن علوان إلى إليف شافاك.
اقرؤوا هذا الكتاب فهو جامع مفيد.

Evolusi sufisme (atau lebih tepat tasawuf) yang sebenarnya bukanlah ranah asing atau baharu dalam agama - seperti sering yang diungkapkan 'dahulu tasawuf ialah realiti tanpa nama tetapi pada masa ini, nama tanpa realiti.'

Banyak yang boleh dipelajari daripada apa yang disorot oleh Geoffroy ini khususnya golongan yang menolak tasawuf atau terpengaruh dengan definisi yang diberikan oleh orientalis dalam sejarah orientalisme meskipun ada beberapa bahagian yang memerlukan kita mengambil sikap berhati-hati terutama dalam melihatnya dalam konteks tracendental of religions.

Buku ini memberikan kita pandangan dari mata burung untuk melihat sejarah evolusi yang bermula daripada realiti tanpa nama pada zaman Rasulullah SAW yang mewariskannya kepada para sahabat sehinggalah ia membentuk suatu disiplin ilmu dan amalan yang binaannya tersusun melalui suatu metodologi yang kemudian dikenali sebagai tariqat.

Dalam reaksi kepada zaman (ahli sufi selalu dianggap sebagai anak zaman), sarjana ini melihatnya dalam dua bentuk yang perlu diberi perhatian oleh kita, iaitu reformasi oleh ahli tasawuf dan tariqat sendiri serta interaksi golongan literalis khususnya Wahabi dan modenis.

Buku ini ternyata boleh menguak pintu pengetahuan kita terhadap makna tasawuf atau sufisme tetapi tentunya jendela yang dibuka oleh pengarang adalah juga mewakili pandangan alam pengarangnya juga.

He considers himself a practitioner of Sufism, a Muslim. In the 1980’s he was on his “spiritual quest” …; in 1983-1984 in Cairo (here to “restore the initial pact of Adam”). But earlier in life, before Islam, there were two years of Buddhism; and before that, a catholic background.

E. Geoffroy is an Islam scholar, a professor at Strasbourg University.

He thinks Arabic knowledge is needed to embark in the interpretation of the Koran (“exegèse”); acknowledges Arabic’s density and the possibility of “multiple meanings” …”superposition of meanings”. [So in Judaism]

To him, the Koran is a “mirror of man”.
Regarding conversion, he said “you shouldn’t limit your horizon to ego and belief”.

Good, though at times it makes broad generalisations that are most accurate to particular turuq and not the generality of Sufism. This aside, it's a good overview from an academic/historical perspective.

كتاب جيد و شامل للمبتدئ في فضوله تجاه التصوف. يلاحظ فيه الموضوعية و عدم الانحياز في تقديم الحقائق التاريخية للتصوف وطرقه و علاقاته بالتسنن والتشيع.

كتاب قيم، ضل طريقه التحليلي أحيانًا، فغرق في نزعة تأريخية هو في غني عنها، أو لم تكن ضمن أهدافه، إلا أنه يقجم استبصارات هامة، أحرى بها أن تؤخذ بعين الاعتبار في عالم مجنون كهذا الذي نحيا فيه.

كتاب جميل للتعرف علي الصوفية من بعد و ليس كمدخل بل كتعرف علي المذهب و بعض خصائص التصوف و العنواين المهمة في التصوف

This is essentially a brief history of the development of this branch of Islam. The work is pretty academic but provides a very useful context for anyone wanting to understand the teachings. Essentially the mystical branch of Islam there is much here that is consistent with the teachings and experience of Gnostic Christians and Buddhists. The great schism that seems to infect all religions, between the idea that there is a direct relationship between the individual and the divine and thaw exploration of that is a very personal thing and the idea that the representatives of the political church are indispensable to the formulation and the exploration of that relationship. I'll go with the Sufis!

I found this book fascinating but sometimes so thick with detail and foreign terms and names that I got a little lost, but the thrust of the book was easy enough to follow. I will explore further.
