Cyrus: I’m a big city private detective, so I thought I’d seen it all. When one of the city’s three crime families hires me for a missing person job, I should have realized there was more to it. Stupid me. I found Zeke, and then I found out why they wanted him. I was surprised how quickly Zeke got into my head and make me open up but he’s a fox shifter so, of course, he drives me crazy…and I want him more than anyone else I’ve ever met.
Zeke: Being a child of a powerful crime family has its perks. Then again, there’s a lot of crap too. I’m done with it. I thought I had a way out, but now I’m running for my life....from my sister, with a private detective along for the ride. Cyrus is something else, and not just because he refuses to admit he’s a wolf shifter. He’s grumpy and a bit of a jerk, but he saved my ass, and the more time I spend with him, the more I want to see him smile…and the more I just want him.
Running for their lives, the two shifters must rely on each other to survive. Both are harboring deep secrets from their past that threaten their growing attraction and their future. What twists and turns await them as they try to stay one step ahead of death?
This is a heartwarming romance with a HEA. It does contain brief flashbacks of child abuse and graphic M/M scenes.
Noah Harris is a 28-year-old bisexual man currently single and living in a small apartment in New York.
Being a natural introvert with significant extrovert tendencies he expresses himself through the world of writing MM books, often with a darker, paranormal twist. His books are written from the heart of his deep, sensitive and mysterious, but playful and creative, wild spirit.
Noah is dedicated to giving something back to the universe, sharing generously in his successes and inspiring and motivating others through his writing and in any other way he can. He believes in living a natural, healthy lifestyle and has embraced meditation as a way of clearing the 'noise' in his head and allowing his dark creativity to shine through in his books.
He is determined to reach out to as many readers, who he considers his 'friends', as he can through his unique personal touch and through building like-minded communities online. It is this personal touch, with his readers, that sets him apart from most other authors today.
Noah Harris captivates you by creating a world full of animal shifters and a hierarchy of power in which many adhere too. Cyrus runs his own detective agency and has long denied himself as a wolf-shifter from incidents stemming from his past. He has been a lone wolf since he was 15 but he questions this status when his newest case puts him in the path of a fox-shifter, Zeke. His orders were to find Zeke and bring him home, but there may just be more behind those orders then he previously believed. Forced to go on the run with the very man he was ordered to hand over requires these two men to do something neither has done in a long time; trust. It just so happens that being in close confines trust may spark something else, something new and something that both men are ready to fight for.
I would classify this book as a mystery. It heavily focused on the inner turmoil of Zeke's "royal" family and how Zeke longed to be free of them. I found myself wanting a little more romance though to balance out the darker undertones of the novel. I think that it was effective to have some blurbs so the reader could understand Cyrus' backstory but it was pretty difficult to hear. The only thing I didn't like was Zeke and Calvin. Their encounter really left me feeling off. Cyrus just let it happen and that mad be even madder at him. Later on Cyrus does make-up for it? But can you really make up for something like that. Zeke only entertained Calvin because he "had" to I'm assuming they could have found something else to barter with. This very scene just throw me off because Cyrus was compliant with Calvin's demands and this just went against the very nature of the man I thought he was. Despite, these interactions I really enjoyed this book. It was a different shifter story and its fun to read something that hasn't been done before. I would recommend this book if you enjoy mystery, some romance and are looking for a HEA!
One is running from his family, the other is running from himself. What happens when they run together?
I was so drawn in to the lives of the characters in this book. They are colorful & vividly portrayed. I cared about what happened to them. The good guys have secrets and attitudes, and the bad guys will make you angry. The action is non- stop, the sex is hot. It will take your breath away. This book is not for everyone. Noah has placed a trigger warning at the beginning of the book. That said, the subject matter is dealt with respectfully. It was not offensive to me. I would ask that you take a chance on this book. I think you Will like it. Cyrus has suppressed his wolf for 15 years. He harbors a horrible secret from his past. When the daughter of one of the three crime families hires him to find her brother, he does. The bastard son of the head of the Vos crime family, Zeke just wants out! His fox is tired of being used by everyone. Seeking refuge with his friend, part of another crime family of jaguars, he has something his sister wants. Something she is willing to kill for. Come. Join Cyrus & Zeke as they find each other; sharing their secrets. Their journey to HEA will be filled with danger & violence, revelations, betrayal, and soul- baring admissions. I really enjoyed this book. You will too. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.

A Fantastic read Cyrus is a big city private detective who is hiding from his past. He is a wolf shifter but he doesn't want to be so he keeps his wolf within. When he is hired to find a missing person he is glad of the money but he has a feeling there is something going on he doesn't know but he takes the job and starts watching the man. Zeke is a fox shifter with a very difficult family. His mother had slept with a crime boss and he would never be excepted as a true son. His mother never went back to him But when he gets ill as a baby his mother has no other option than to go to his father and beg for him to take his son on and get him the help he needs. He takes him in but he is never treated the same as his other siblings. Now 20+ years later he gets out of there and starts a new life for himself but what made he leave?? This is a fantastic read with loads of drama. the storyline is brilliant and fast paced. The chemistry and passion between these to is electric but can they both rely on each other??? I could read this book all over again.!!

I absolutely love this story. It had all the elements I like in a shifter book. Cyrus the private detective who denies his wolf half was a character I liked a lot. Even though he has his demons, that doesn't effect his work and his dedication to do what's right. His job in finding the long lost brother from a crime family is really trying his emotional state. Zeke the fox shifter/stripper/long lost brother sees something in Cyrus and is drawn to him. I really enjoyed Zeke with his sassy attitude and his love of life even though he is running for his life. Good thing he has Cyrus. The more the two are around each other and get to know each other, both realizes they mean a lot to each other. Their banter was hilarious and their intimate times were HOT. Danger is all around them and they know they can trust each other. What a page turner...I laughed, cried and smiled throughout the story. A very nice ending and I hope the author explores more with the 3 crime families and make this into a series. I would love to see love for the coyote shifter or even the cat shifter.

Zeke is a smart, playful, mischievous fox trying to escape his crime family. Cyrus is a grumpy, troubled private detective who denies his wolf and had a horribly abusive childhood. What starts as a simple job becomes anything but as the reality of it quickly escalates into high risk and deadly. This is an intense story full of suspense and action, you can feel the intensity of their situation - running for their lives, danger around every corner, who can be trusted - and it will keep you glued to the pages right through to the end. There is a growing connection between Zeke and Cyrus that neither expected with moments of understanding, tenderness, fierce passion, and protection. This story has a heartwarming ending full of playfulness, sweetness, happiness, and genuine love. I would definitely recommend this book but it could upset some readers due to the triggers listed so be cautious.

Cyrus is a grumpy private detective, the product of a very rough past, who is hired by one of the big crime families to find someone. His first thought was that they could more than likely have found the guy themselves, but it was a paying job, so he agreed. But after finding Zeke, the smart and mischievous fox shifter who was trying to escape his crime family, the threat becomes real as things begin to escalate and turn dangerous. He and Zeke end up going on the run together for their lives. They will need to rely on each other for survival. But that requires trust – can they put aside their personal fears and trust each other?
This is a fast-paced story filled with danger and tension. The attraction between them intensifies, along with the urge to protect. Although there are bumps along the way, will the two of them be able to find love? Will they find a way to be together and safe? Grab your copy and see what they must face in order to find freedom.
Siblings! Cyrus, PI,was traumatized in his childhood and doesn't shift into his wolf. On a case, he overhears bear shifters talking about having lost him. The bear shifters chased him, he drew his gun, they won't forget. Zeke's sister hires Cyrus to find Zeke and bring him home. It wasn't until he met his target, that he realizes the siblings' stories don't match. Cyrus makes a choice that puts him on Zeke's side. As they get to know each other, their baggage is opened and examined. They share a few truths and build trust. They go on an adventure of survival and develop a good friendship. Their back and forth is delightful! Do they escape danger? Does Cyrus ever let his wolf out? Does Zeke prevail? Good story. Interesting and nice characters. This story exceeds expectations of Mr Harris' stories. Well done! I received an ARC from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Cyrus starred at the female who wanted him to hunt down her brother which is kinda interesting sense she should have been able to do that herself but hey she's a pay client. Patience is everything when dealing with a subject who can disappear with little to no warning. Yeah Zeke wasn't exactly what I'd expected for a sly fox and now that he knows I've been hired to find him his story is a lot different then the one his sister. my client told me. The last thing I expected was to be caught in the middle of some family squabble. Now we need to figure out how to deal with his conniving sister with out dying.

This book is amazing! It is the first one I've read by Noah and I will definitely be reading more! The story of Zeke and Cyrus is one filled with lies, betrayal, dark pasts and finally finding love. Cyrus is a wolf shifter and private investigator who hasn't shifted in 15 years due to a horrible past. Zeke is the illegitimate son of the head of the Vos family of fox shifters who is just looking to get out of town and away from the family. Cyrus is hired by Zeke's half sister Naomi to find him and this will set Cyrus on the path to a journey filled with danger and betrayal. It will lead him to find peace within himself and to a happiness he never thought he would have.

Running for Freedom is an intense book and might not be for sensitive readers. That being said I couldn't put it down. I loved this book and was on the edge of my seat until the very end. I didn't want to stop reading because just when I thought all was well something would happened to change that. When Cyrus, a private detective, took a job he had no idea it would change his life forever. The man, Zeke, Cyrus was paid to find turned into so much more than a job. In the end I think Cyrus and Zeke saved each other and got their happy ending. Another amazing story by Noah Harris and I highly recommend it.

Cyrus is a private detective, and when he is hired by Naomi to follow and find out more about her brother, he has no problem accepting the job - or the money she is offering. But when he meets Zeke, he finds out that she actually wants her brother dead - and Cyrus is not about to let that happen - there is something about the fox shifter that makes Cryus want to protect him. Death is on their trail - will they survive the twists and turns, and be able to work out exactly what they mean to ach other? Loved it!

wolf and a Fox sounds like Disney? Ah, no to the max!
I haven't written a five star review in a long while. if I could give this book a 10, I would. Cyrus and Zeke make an amazing couple even though their path to love is a dry river strewn with boulders, tree stumps and darn few smooth spots. The story line is multi-dimension and there were several surprises along the way. The villains are hideous and cruel with little to no redeeming values in them. Reno, the coyote, is sweet, funny and a true friend. I want to say more but don't want to spoil the fun for you. Excellent book.
Great story about a wolf in denial and a fox running for his life. Cyrus and Zeke meet and there is an instant attraction which Cyrus tries to deny. Cyrus tries to hide his wolf until Zeke brings it out by seducing him on their first night on the run. Soon the two find themselves in and out of danger as the action and betrayal unfolds. This book is full of action and hot sex as they try and find their footing as well as their feelings for each other. Pick up a copy because you will enjoy it too!
Noah Harris is an expert in stories about shifters and fated mates, so it was not a surprise this story was so good. Action-packed, page-turner, with a complex plot and an endearing and somehow sweet love story between Zeke and Cyrus this book caught me since the beginning until the very end. The book had some angst and difficult situations that can be a trigger for some people, so I recommend discretion. A wonderful reading! I received this book as an ARC and this is my honest opinion.
This heartwarming story and it’s amazing characters will absolutely captivate you from the very beginning. The chemistry between Cyrus and Zeke sizzles ... just waiting to be ignited. Their journey is filled with family drama, tension, pain, suspense and high-stakes danger. Don’t miss anything. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This book had a different take on wolf shifters than I'm used to in Noah's other books . It was difficult at first to understand this different dynamic but once I got into the story it all became clear to me . Different isn't necessarily a bad thing sometimes it's what's needed. Good job Noah.
I liked the story. My problems was the long paragraphs. My eyes ml over fast and they tired me out. Otherwise, loved the characters, the fox as so cute and brave and the wolf so damaged and heroes.
Running for freedom is how to get out of a crime family with your life. This is a great shifters book. I could picture the animal forms so vividly. The coloring would be something I would love to see.
Private-eye detective books are one of my favorites, but its best when shifters are involved. I must say for some reason I kept thinking of Cyrus Wright as “Colombo” (the old TV series), but Cyrus Wright sounded far more handsome and younger.
Cyrus is a great character; a wolf-shifter who denies his animal side for his own dark secrets, and a man who hated being around people especially wolf-shifters; he was a real loner. But Cyrus was your man if you wanted to find someone.
The man who got most of Cyrus’s jobs was Reno. Cyrus doesn’t know a whole lot about Reno’s life or past, but then again neither did Reno know Cyrus’s past life. All Cyrus needed to know was he had jobs for him and he could take them or not, and the man always had his back and was an occasional lover. Reno seemed to really like the grumpy, snarly, sarcastic man Cyrus was and knew not to bring up questions about the man’s past. It was a perfect setup for Cyrus.
Reno gets a call from one of the “mafia” family members in their city, Naomi Vos, daughter of Elias Vos, fox-shifters. She wanted to hire Cyrus to find her younger half-brother, Ezekiel “Zeke”. Cyrus is given the place her brother worked, the Cat’s Meow (I love that name) as a stripper, and some story she wanted to be reunited with him, but the young man kept disappearing just when she was so close to getting to him.
All Naomi wanted was Cyrus to get as much information as he could about her half-brother, but most of all where Zeke lived. Cyrus was only to gather the information and report back to Naomi by phone, and Cyrus would be paid well for his work. Money Cyrus needed.
Zeke had good reason to keep away from his half-sister; he had something she wanted very badly, but as Cyrus gathers info he has no idea what was going on between the young man and his half-sister. Zeke was under the protection of Clayton Leon, Leon another important “mafia” family. Naomi wouldn’t dare step into Clay’s establishment or it could be seen as an act of war. That’s one of the reasons Zeke had made a deal of some sort with Clay.
Zeke became a stripper for the club and made good money and loved his work. He loved to “read” people who were at the club, something he was very good at. But Zeke also loved the flirting and the young man has a wonderful personality. Clay was an occasional lover as were many other men in his past.
Zeke’s background, since he was ten years old, was not an easy one nor was it normal, but then his father was a game player and used all his pawns including Zeke. Zeke’s father had his legitimate children and his many illegitimate children. Only Elias’s legitimate children would be able to inherit. This thought had passed through Cyrus’s mind as to why Naomi was so pressed on finding her half-brother who couldn’t inherit a top position in the family.
Cyrus takes the job and the first place he headed was the Cat’s Meow to start gathering info about the estranged young man. When Cyrus sees Zeke for the first time, the rather unflustered Cyrus was blown away by Zeke’s looks but also his easy personality. Cyrus thought there was no way that he would be able to get close enough to ever learn any information about this gorgeous man. But Cyrus came back to the club every night hoping to get a chance to find out something about the guy.
Then one night Cyrus couldn’t believe his luck when he was offered a private room one-on-one session with Zeke which got even better when Zeke was forced into leaving the club because one on the Vos family members was there. Zeke invited Cyrus back to his apartment which was unbelievable to Cyrus that he had gotten this info and sent off a text to Naomi Zeke’s whereabouts.
Well, the action really begins when Zeke finds out Cyrus had been in contact with his half-sister, giving her his information and in turn, she had sent her gunman to kill Zeke and probably Cyrus. This half-sister wasn’t about to give up and the chase is on as Cyrus helps Zeke flee into the night trying not to get killed.
The two men become lovers which the first time wasn’t what Zeke had imagined and wow was it hot. But Zeke and Cyrus seemed to have trouble follow them wherever they went and the two were on the run. Even friends of Zeke’s couldn’t be trusted. The conclusion to the book was just as fantastic, because how was Zeke ever going to be free from the Vos family and especially Naomi. He was a Vos possession.
This book kept me riveted until the end. Zeke’s sexy personality with his flirting and teasing was an art that opened up the closed-off man with a terrible past. They became close and both men opened up to reveal their skeletons in the closet. Two very sexy men and the thrill of the running for freedom were exciting. A great book and I am looking forward to hopefully another book to make a series.

It was a great surprise to discover a universe so rich and varied in shapeshifting creatures. The story is set in New Haven, a city populated by shapeshifters. The city is run by 3 main shapeshifter families (wolves, foxes and felines).
Cyrus is one of our heros, he's a detective and also a wolf, even though he tries to surpress his animal side and haven't shifted in years. The reason why he denies his other half is clear to the reader pretty soon, but as the book goes we get more details of his horrific past and of what he had to survive. Cyrus is the classical grumpy character that little by little melts a bit and gets sweeter.
Ezekiel, aka Zeke, is our other hero. He is the bastar son of the Vos family, the foxes, and his big sister is after him. Zeke was a more charismatic character due to his foxy side: he's funny, playful and a little mischievious. Zeke's life hasn't been as hard as Cyrus, but he had to survive his own hardships and there's just one thing he wishes in life: to be free of his family ties, to be able to be his own person. Just Zeke and not a Vos.
Life gets this two together under atypical circumstances, and soon the two of them must work together not to get killed by their chasers.
I liked how balanced tha action and Zeke/Cyrus moments where. I had the sensation that everything flowed at a niece pace and that we had enough time for all plots to develop. Although their relationship evolves pretty fast time wise, all the book is set in a pretty short time, so it doesn't give a bad feeling. And I loved how both Zeke and Cyrus are to each other once they understand their feelings. The perfect mix of sweetness and pretectiveness.
I must confess that I loved some supportive characters (Clay ♥) and that I hope to have another book on the future starring this particular panther. He so deserves his own story and he would make an incredible main character.

Zeke - the illegitimate son of a fox shifter patriarch and part of the powerful Vos family. Given his family, he is not at all what you would expect. He has a fun, playful side. All this time, he'd been able to survive despite his family name. All he wishes is to be free from the label of that life.
Cyrus - a private detective for fifteen years, trying to make ends meet. He's also a wolf shifter who suppressed his animal half and left his pack family behind (you learn more about this as you read further into the book). His family dynamics are much like that of the Vos family - a hierarchy. Despite how much he wanted to denounce his wolf half, he could not get around it.
Cyrus is hired by Naomi Vos - patriarchal daughter - to find her brother Zeke. He is instructed to locate him and return him to his home. Something does not sit well. He follows his instincts and realizes there is more to this than initially let on.
With the need to tread lightly, Cyrus follows Zeke back to his apartment and is quite surprised to see how he lived. He looked around and realized this was not the home of someone who lived well, needed a break from family and decided to hide away and pout for a while. Instead, "The entire apartment felt more like a hastily chosen hideout, one that could easily be abandoned without leaving anything important behind."
Cyrus was surprised to find that Zeke found him attractive. Not to mention, Cyrus began to pick up unusual and overwhelming scents from Zeke.
Let's just say throughout this story, things are not what they seem.
The truth about the Naomi Vos and what she wanted with Zeke, especially since the family could have found him on their own. Will Cyrus give into his wolf? What will happen between he and Zeke? Can they survive this whirlwind shifter mystery?
You will fall for these two characters. Zeke brings out a side of Cyrus in a way never thought possible. Get ready for a fun read, filled with surprises at every turn.

Dari awal udah dibilang sm Noah Harris kalau di dalam buku ini ada child sexual abuse tp sinopsisnya menarik jadinya kenapa ga coba baca.
Ada beberapa hal yang aku tidak suka di buku ini:
1. Zeke berhubungan intim sm temannya, Clayton in order to protect him dari keluarganya sendiri.

I enjoy all Noah Harris' books. But Running for Freedom is my all-time favorite of his so far. It's a Games of Thrones of shifters. It's gritty, thrilling, and dark. The world building is just so amazing and so unique. The characters are so well-developed: They're very three-dimensional that I can actually imagine real people in these situations. The characterization of all the characters fits so well in this Game of Thrones. I hope there's more; that this is a series and Clay and Reno will get their stories.
