One unsolved murder. A best friend determined to right the wrongs of the past.

On the 21st August Tabitha Rice disappeared without a trace. All the signs point to murder, but no signs point to a murderer. The easiest answer is her husband, Rick. But he protests his innocence and there is little proof he is the murderer.

Annabella knows there is more to the story than what the police are telling. Tabitha was her best friend and she vows to uncover the truth.

As Annabella delves further into the past, she uncovers sides to Tabitha that she never saw coming, and she finds herself asking the question... Was this murder? Or is there more to Tabitha Rice's story than meets the eye?

This is a thriller. The pacing did not better me, but it was just boring to me most of the book. I would not say this was the best or worst thriller I have read. It was just ok. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher or author via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review about how I feel about this book, and I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Five years ago Tabitha Rice disappears without a trace. Her husband Rick Priestley is suspected by some of involvement as he’s been having an affair. Her best friend Annabella hires a private investigator who uncovers precious little, she then teams up with podcaster Kay Robero who is obsessed with the case to try to get to the truth. The story is told principally by Tabby, Annabella and Rick and interchanges between the past and the present.

First of all, I really like the differing and contrasting points of view which works effectively and keeps you changing your mind on Tabby’s whereabouts. You clearly see the impact of her disappearance on Rick and Annabella and to keep your interest there are some good revelations about the characters and you have no idea who or what to believe. They all carry baggage, often from their experiences growing up but this only serves to make it a more intriguing read. Rick and Tabby’s relationship from the early days when Rick is attending Oxford University is well portrayed in its turbulence. There’s disloyalty, obsession, lies, silence and sadness. As the story unfolds so characters unravel and the levels of intrigue mount. There are some dramatic moments when you realise that some of the characters are barely holding themselves together mentally and their actions are beyond questionable. The conclusion is good and surprising and I like that even at the finale there’s yet another secret to learn.

Overall, a good, gripping, twisty read which I thoroughly enjoyed. I definitely want to read more by Naomi Joy.

With thanks to NetGalley and Aria for the ARC.

On the 21st August Tabitha Price disappeared without trace. It looks like it's a murder investigation but there's no clues leading to a murderer. The obvious person is her husband, Rick. But he protests his innocence.

Annabella knows there's more to the story than the police are telling her. Tabitha had been her best friend. She goes to uncover the truth. But as Annabella delves into the past, she reveals sides of Tabitha sees never seen before.

This psychological thriller kept me guessing. Five years ago, Tabitha had disappeared. Her best friend Annabella thinks it was Tabitha's husband, Rick who was responsible and Annabella is determined to find out. The story flips back and forward in time, telling us the events that occurred before and after Tabitha went missing. This is a twist filled creepy read. The story flows along at a good pace. I didn't like any of the characters but they were believable. This is quite a gripping read. I didn't guess where the story was going but all the loose ends were tied up at the end.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Aria and the author Naomi Joy for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Tabitha Rice has been missing 5 years. She has never been seen or heard from since that time. The police could never figure out what happened to her. Their prime suspect has always been her husband, Rick. Their was trouble in their marriage and the spouse is always the first person looked at.

Annabella was Tabby's best friend. She just 'knows' that Rick killed her so he could start a new life. She has even gone so far as to hire a private detective to follow Rick, look for Tabitha. Annabella vows to uncover the truth.

But what she's finding is not the Tabitha that she knew .... Tabitha had secrets... secrets that might have got her killed.... by more than one person.

This intricate plot alternates between the time Tabitha disappeared, five years later, and 15 years earlier when Tabitha met her husband. The characters are incredible .. leaving the reader unsure of who to believe, who to like, and who was suspect. Twists and turns are like being in a house of mirrors at a carnival. The ending was quite surprising.

Many thanks to the author /Aria Fiction / Netgalley for the digital copy of this crime fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Having really enjoyed the authors previous book ‘The Liars’ I was looking forward to reading this
It’s a story of 2 friends and an ex husband, 1 of the friends disappeared after a night out 5 years ago and was never heard of again and all eyes were on the hubby, the friend meanwhile never got over her disappearance and even hired a P.I. to look into it, its stalemate until a podcast decides to feature the story and the story takes a very big change of direction
The first half of the book I would say plods along fairly well, the characters are looked into and the events leading up to and including the disappearance are revisited, often it was quite confusing as the characters and timeline were constantly changing from the past to the past past and then to the present ( and a key game changer in the book which cant say or will ruin it when revealed made it even more complex ) however the authors narration, sometimes humourous in its infliction amd always ‘flamboyant in its descriptive wording’ kept me ‘with it’ and I am glad it did as the 2nd half is good, really good and kinda horrific in its darkness that leads to a scary and chilling end
A couple of subjects ie OCD and fear of germs feature in the book, not overpoweringly but enough to build a picture of how it affects one of the characters
I am glad I ploughed through the build up and all the detail needed to get to the crux of the book

8/ 10

This one starts of a bit slow but picks up pace in the 2nd half, and the last few chapters are a really wild ride! The story centers on Annabella, whose best friend Tabitha (Tabby) disappeared 5 years prior- Annabella is determined to figure out what happened, and believes Tabby's husband Rick had something to do with it. She teams up with a podcaster, Kay, to dig back into the details and see if she can uncover new evidence. The story switches in POVs from Annabella in the current day, to Tabby 5 years ago, and Rick 13-14 years ago when he first met Tabby.

I liked the switch between various voices because it gave me some insight into the characters. I didn't really get Annabella, though- she said and did some weird things throughout that touched on a deeper look into her psyche but the author never full went there. I also had trouble understanding the close friendship between her and Tabby- it felt rather one-sided and they didn't seem like people who would be in the same circles, so I didn't think it was super believable- I wish I could have gotten more into what drew them together.

The end of this book gives a great twist, and then an even greater twist when you think the story is over- that brought the whole thing home for me even though I wasn't fully invested earlier. I would recommend that everyone see this book through, and they will not be sorry they did.

Thanks to Netgalley for providing me a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A good thriller, I enjoyed this book but it wasn't my favourite Naomi Joy book.
Tabitha Rice disappeared five years ago, vanished of the face of the earth? Its an unsolved crime and no one seems to be bothered about her disappearance apart from her best friend Annabella.
Annabella has never given up hope and is adamant that she will uncover the truth.
Although she is a strange character herself, with her own mental health issues but seems to be fairly content with her life as a cosmetic nurse. She suspects that Tabitha's husband Rick is as guilty as hell for her disappearance and joins forces with a journalist called Kay who between them become spies and report live on podcasts to what their findings are about Tabitha's sudden mystery disappearance.
But this is a thriller and we soon discover a few things aren't adding up, they never do -do they? and there's some lies being told by someone but who?
The novel jumps from a few different angles and we see a present day story unfolding and a variety of timelines in the past.
Characters are good if a little annoying at times and I found that half way through the book my patience was wearing a little thin. But then with about sixty pages to go BAM the story goes through the roof and you do not want to be disturbed or even pick up your drink.
Just when you think you've got it all worked out - you'll be wrong and another twist shakes you.
The end was a gripping page turning unravelling climax that satisfies you.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.

This was a written book wherein the chapters alternate between Annabella, Tabitha and Rick. I did find some of the characters annoying at times but as I kept reading I found the story getting more interesting.

Initially it was slow but as the twists and turns emerged, it kept me hooked on till the end. It had me guessing till the end even though most of my guesses were wrong.

Overall, an enjoyable and suspenseful read!

Five years have passed since Annabella's best friend Tabitha Rice went on a date with a mystery man and vanished without trace. Despite his protestations of his innocence, Tabitha's husband Rick was originally viewed as a suspect but no evidence of his involvement were uncovered and the case went cold.

Annabella has never forgotten her beloved friend and colleague so when she is contacted by true - crime podcaster Kay Robero who asks if she wishes to assist her in her investigation into Tabitha's disappearance. Annabella jumps at the opportunity to use Kay's resources to her own quest to uncover the truth.

But when they start digging into Tabitha's life, Annabella learns that her friend had been keeping secrets from her and wasn't the person she thought she was. Was one of those secrets the reason behind her disappearance?.Did Rick know more about his wife's disappearance than he had admitted? Or was the truth even more shocking and unexpected that anyone realises?

This brilliant thriller is written in chapters that alternated between Annabella, Tabitha and another mystery character. Annabella was a complex character who suffered from mental health issues, the cause of which could possibly be traced back to her upbringing. I thought that she was very judgemental of other people especially when it came down to Rick's guilt or innocence. Tabitha's chapters were set five years in the past and took the reader through the events leading up to her disappearance. She was a very insecure character who harboured feelings of jealousy towards her best friend due to her thinking that Annabella was better looking than she was. Despite some of her actions I found that I liked Tabitha more than Annabella. Interspersed throughout the book there was chapters that were set fifteen years in the past and voiced from Rick's perspective. In these chapters he took us through his life at university, how and where he met Tabitha and events leading up to their marriage. We knew a lot more about younger Rick than the adult version because the author cleverly shrouds his character in mystery making it difficult for the reader to decide If he is innocent or as guilty as Annabella suspects he is.

This is a captivating, well written thriller that keeps the reader guessing and frantically turning the pages. I really thought that I had figured it all out but I was pleased to discover that I was so wrong. I love plot twists that genuinely shock and surprise me. I really enjoyed this enthralling thriller and would give it more than five stars if I could. Very very highly recommended.

This is my second novel by Naomi Joy having previously read The Truth and it was every bit as good.
In Do Her No Harm, Annabella's best friend Tabitha (Tabby) Rice mysteriously vanished five years ago and Annabella has always suspected that Tabby's husband, Rick Priestley, had something to do with her disappearance, however, there's no proof that she was murdered by him. A private investigator she hires uncovers precious little, so she teams up with podcaster Kay Robero, who is obsessed with the case, to establish the truth.
The story is told principally by Tabby, Annabella and Rick and glides effortlessly between the past and present. Psychological crime thrillers do not come any more exciting than Do Her No Harm which was intense and nerve-twisting. Naomi Joy's masterful writing completely beguiled me as nothing was quite what it seemed. It incited me and got into my psyche, refusing to leave, thus I read it in a single sitting. With a strong plot, it's written with precisely the right amount of drive, and the interesting characters were a combination of the affable and the abhorrent. As the three narrators, Annabella, Tabby and Rick each willed me to believe them as they told me their backstories and versions of events in the lead up to Tabitha vanishing, I found myself switching my opinions. While this chilling, taut and compulsive thriller headed towards the startling conclusion, the tension and suspense really escalated and I was caught off guard. A must-read for thriller worshippers.

I received a complimentary copy of this novel at my request from Aria via NetGalley. This review is my own unbiased opinion.

Five years after Tabitha Rice goes missing, her best friend Annabella is contacted by award-winning journalist, Kay Robero asking her to participate in a podcast about the case, in hopes of discovering what really happened to Tabby. In Annabella's opinion, it was her husband Rick yet despite the public scrutiny, the police released him and there were no other real leads. Will Annabella finally get the answers she seeks or will what happened to Tabby remain a mystery.

This book was so twisty and delicious, I couldn't put it down. Set in London, the book takes you on a pretty dark ride in discovering what really happened to Tabitha Rice. The book has it all when it comes to suspense and thrill; lies, deceit, plastic surgery, reinvention, red herrings, murder, manipulation, and the like. Every time I thought I had it figured out, I was thrown for another loop and was still shocked at the ending as further truths were revealed. Very well done! Do Her No Harm by Naomi Joy is worthy of five stars!

Do Her No Harm by Naomi Joy is a fast-paced read that pulled me in almost from the very start. I was virtually propelled through the pages and fully absorbed in the mysterious disappearance of Tabitha Rice from the outset.

On August 21, Tabitha Rice goes missing and is presumed to have been murdered. Her husband seems to be the most obvious suspect, but there is no evidence that would link him to the crime. Annabella, Tabitha's best friend, is determined to find out what really happened that fateful day, and will stop at nothing to uncover the truth.

Told from alternating perspectives, and with a timeline that shifts between past and present, I was immediately invested in the quest to determine, definitively, what really happened to Tabitha Rice.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Aria for this ARC.

Not sure where to start with this one. Description really had me. Loved the past and present dual storyline and you got to know and see the different elements of each character. Having said that I was urging it to move on faster and give me something gritty. Found it was a little to drawn out but then about 3/4 way in it got going and it all came to the fore and not something I saw coming. But I did find it a little unbelievable at times and there was a few things left unanswered and different elements just not tied up. I would definitely read other books by this author as I loved the element of surprise.

Thanks to Netgalley and Aria for the opportunity to read this ARC and review thats due to be published on the 20th of August.

Surprise ending

I can honestly say that this book kept me guessing the whole way through. The jump from character to character was a little off putting but once you get used to it, it makes for a great read. I never expected the plot twists - the murderer, the star crossed lovers. It was well written and I throughly enjoyed it.

Author Naomi Joy wrote another intriguing story where I felt I were the dog chasing its own tail. How did she do it? She ran rings around me, making me move in one direction, then the next. It was dizzying at the way twists popped up. Until I stood still and the story split apart revealing its secrets. Oh my!! There were many…

Where was Tabitha? Oh where was she, Annabelle’s best friend? Five years had passed, and there had been no trace of her. After the initial public fury, Rick, Tabby’s husband was roaming scot-free. Everyone had forgotten about her. But not Annabelle and neither had Kay, who wanted to reveal the killer in her podcast.

A swift paced book with multiple POVs, at different timelines providing all the angles to the situation the characters found themselves in. The writing was maddening at first until the author slowly tied them all together. These characters, I tell ya, they were all shifty. The things they did to themselves… Sheesh!!

I couldn’t have ever predicted where the story was going, each POV led me astray. I kept going farther until I realized I was close, so close to the truth. And explode it did with the truth and I knew where Tabitha was!! Do you want to know?

My afternoon read!!

Tabitha Rice disappeared five year ago, and any trail she may have left is long cold. It seems that everyone has moved on with their lives, and only Tabitha;s best friend, Annabella, is still actively grieving. Annabella has always suspected Tabitha's husband, Rick, and when a journalist contacts her with a view to spying on Rick for her investigative podcast, Annabella agrees. But the more Annabella finds out, the more questions are raised. Who was responsible for Tabitha's disappearance? And is Annabella about to uncover more than she could ever have imagined?

This was a tautly written psychological thriller, and I really enjoyed the flawed narrator and the way that the author manipulated information throughout. It was cleverly done, and although I guessed some of the twists, I didn't see most of them coming . It's always a massive plus for me if I don't guess the ending of a novel as I like to be surprised, and this one was a shocker. Really well thought out, and brilliantly written - Naomi Joy is fast becoming one of my favourite authors.

Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley who provided me with a free advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Tabatha and Annabella have been friends a long time. They even word in the same place. Tabatha being married to her husband Rick doesn't make a difference, the women are still friends and take time to have dinners, lunches and girls night out.
Then Tabitha disappears and is determined to have left on her own. The public opinion is that she was murdered by her own husband, Rick. He is taken in for questioning but cannot be found guilty of any crime. Annabella thinks that he is indeed guilty of murdering her best friend. She sets out out to find the justice she knows her friend deserves.
What she discovers may be detrimental to her very existence.
Twisted, psychological weirdness at it's best!

I started this book and had a hard time keeping interest because of jumping characters and time frames.
Since the storyline was interesting I kept reading. Needless to say, I couldn't put the book down.
Annabellea searches for her friend that went missing five years ago. Tabby was Annabella's coworker and best friend. When Tabby went missing, Rick; her husband became the primary suspect but no evidence was ever found to arrest or convict him. Annabella was determined to find evidence that He had killed her even though no body was ever found. A great suspenseful read with many twists and turns. Can't wait to see the completely finished product.

This book follows the disappearance of Tabitha Rice, who disappeared 5 years ago and has never been found. Her husband is the prime suspect as he was having an affair at the time of his wife’s disappearance. But what really happened to Tabitha?

In this book, you hear many different points of views on what might have happened to Tabitha. Whilst reading the book, I changed my mind multiple times on what I believed had happened to her. I never guessed correctly.
The characters in this book were well developed and interesting. They all had their own secrets.

This is an addictive gripping thriller. A great read.

Creepy, compelling and completely unputdownable.

This is a tremendously twisty thriller featuring betrayal, best friends, and Botox!

Do Her No Harm is a blur between psychological thriller and crime thriller. From the modern motifs of true-crime podcasting and cosmetic surgery, to the classic who-dunnit plot-line, it was a story that had me totally gripped from the outset. No one is who they appear to be in this book... and with the back-drop of surgically altered faces it makes for a really good read.

The ultimate twist is cleverly crafted and I didn't see it coming at all.

Another good thriller! I liked this book but didn’t love it. Truly I think I didn’t connect with the characters for some reason. I was shocked at the end, the story went so slow until the last 50 or so pages. Took awhile to heat up and then it was only interesting for a minute. I liked the plot lines but something was off. I’ll be checking to see if Joy has any other books.

A spectacular read with twists and turns galore!

Each of the main characters are suitably flawed and better for it. The squeaky-clean husband who's having an affair, the cosmetic nurse who's crippled with OCD, the best friend who lies about her past and keeps secret in the present...

This book is captivating and contemporary and I highly recommend it. 5/5

I read Do Her No Harm over a few days. From the synopsis it sounded right up my street. An unsolved murder, the uncovering of secrets and a husband claiming innocence but the reality I found was a book that lacked pace and I just found boring. Sorry but this wasn’t for me. I’d rate it 2.5 stars. Thank you to NetGalley, Aria and the author for the chance to review.

Having been introduced to Naomi’s work last year and really loving her previous two books, I could not wait to get stuck into the story for her third novel, Do Her No Harm. Holy moly, what a thrilling ride that you are taken on and I am pleased to say that it is 3 for 3 and this is another winner that Naomi has put together here!

I am also happy to report that I learnt from my previous mistake when I read Naomi’s last book The Truth, which was to make sure that my kindle was fully charged before I dove straight into this story. My experience of not doing this the last time, was really a difficult time for me when it died at a crucial part and I had to wait valuable minutes while it charged enough before I could continue on with it! 🙂 (Yes, clearly I am still scarred by this!)

Do Her No Harm tells the story of the mysterious disappearance, (presumed murdered), of Tabitha Rice and her best friend Annabella’s quest to find out what happened to her that night. All roads lead to Tabitha’s husband Rick and his behaviour as having something to do with her disappearance, but along the way, Annabella learns some harsh truths about Tabitha and her character that has her questioning if she really knew her best friend at all…

Naomi has done such a great job with the plot, that is executed extremely well and with its telling of some of the story through a true crime podcast, which have become so popular of late, really was a great move on Naomi’s part to incorporate into the story. It gives it that extra something that enhances and what made this book stand out to me all the more.

Right from the outset Naomi had me in her clutches and I was taken along for the ride to solve the mystery. I was completely caught up in it as I was transported from the present, back to the past as the three narrators of Annabella, Tabitha and Rick each demanded my attention, willing me to believe them as they told me their backstories and versions of events in the lead up to when Tabitha disappeared. When all is revealed it is not what I was expecting at all! Very well played Naomi. I take my hat off to you!

With its striking cover, a strong plot, a cast of both likeable and unlikeable characters, one that moves at the right pace with tension and suspense that is cleverly built up along the way, to a thrilling conclusion and finally, that is all told through perfectly flawless writing, you can’t go wrong with this book! You are a natural born storyteller Naomi and I can’t wait to be swept up in what you come up with for us next!

Thank-you to NetGalley, Aria Fiction and Naomi Joy for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Do Her No Harm which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

This book was just okay for me—not great, not terrible, just somewhere in the middle.

The story follows Tabitha, who went missing years ago, with everyone suspecting her husband of foul play. Now, her best friend, Annabella, teams up with a podcaster to uncover the truth.

What I Liked :

• While some parts of the book dragged and felt boring, there were moments that were so nerve-wracking I couldn’t put it down.

• I liked how the story was told from different timelines and perspectives. It was a bit confusing at first, but once I got the hang of it, I appreciated the structure.

What I Didn’t Like :

• Despite being the missing person, I couldn’t connect with Tabitha’s character at all. She was manipulative, narcissistic, and made so many poor decisions—catfishing a man with her friend’s photo, spiking drinks “for fun,” and constantly trying to get back at her husband. Her husband was just as unlikable, making it hard to root for anyone in the story.

• From the start, neither Annabella nor the podcaster felt genuine, so I couldn’t trust them. While I wasn’t surprised by the ending, I didn’t expect Annabella’s final actions, which added a small twist but other than that, it was so predictable.

• The sheer number of secrets, infidelities, and hidden motives made the story feel overly dramatic and unrealistic.

Overall, this book had its moments, but it didn’t leave a lasting impression. The pacing was uneven, the characters were difficult to connect with, and the plot was predictable. While it wasn’t a bad read, I wouldn’t revisit it.
