Running along with characters trying to catch my breath
Crown of Dragons is Morgan Rice’s fifth book in the Age of the Sorcerers series and it does not disappoint. I give it 5 stars as she continues to spin the story of the royals of the Northern kingdom as they navigate the occupation of the Southern kingdom’s forces. I’m amazed at how she masterfully weaves a multiple of plot threads and still hold the reader’s attention with so many things going on. I never felt lost or confused, but rather hungry to know what happens next for every character. In this book five, I was happy to see the dragons playing a larger roll, as well as more of a young man, by the name of Devin, introduced in the first book and only marginally involved until now. He’s an underdog of sorts, gifted in ways he’s never knew, and certainly on a hero’s journey. Rice offers several complex characters that make the story unique and interesting and then masterfully blends their paths to add more depth with twists and turns that have me running alongside the character trying to catch my breath. As I’ve mentioned in the reviews of the previous four books in this series, the only thing I find disappointing is that the story isn’t brought to closure but is more episodic. But with that said, I find the story captivating enough to continue on to the next book. If you are a fantasy reader who enjoys medieval-type settings filled with wizards, dragons, royals, nobles and peasant folk then this book is for you. And of course there is the smattering of love in the works on more than one front. I’m ready for book six.

This is another great book in this amazing series!
Morgan Rice is one of my favourite authors. Her imagination is so fertile, and her writing quality is perfection itself.
Explosive, exciting, incredible and full of magic of many kinds, this potent book takes us further along in the series Age of Sorcerers. If you have read the first four books then you are in for a treat with this one. An amulet of great power is used for its intended purpose for the first time! Among other great storylines!
I have to admit, that I had a truly hard time putting this book down. I know people say that but I truly mean it! I was utterly absorbed by chapter after chapter of this wonderful book!
As the story moves forward to wards a climax I can only imagine with likely be incredible, many strings are being pulled in the different sectors of the book. Things are slowly coming closer to a massive confrontation of, I imagine, biblical proportions! The tension builds nicely with different characters undergoing different trial and tribulations. Where will each section lead, I find myself wondering?
I am heading off to buy and read book six. If you want to read a fantasy that has so many facets that it could be a diamond, then go start with book one, as it's definitely worth a read!
Ravin is Emporer and Vars is still king of the Northern Kingdom, but in name only, and a laughing-stock. Before Ravin decides to execute him like Queen Aethe, Vars decides to flee the city. Ravin is ruthless and demands submission, even from the mistress of the House of Sighs. The Princesses Lenore and Erin, along with Odd are in hiding and the other heroes and royals are slowly returning on the city to wage their own battles with the conqueror, including Devin who brings the Unfinished Sword. The sword, the amulet, the King’s Sorcerer, and the new Queen’s army will meet them there in a bid to regain Royalsport and the kingdom. None are aware that the dragon army is also planning a return to reclaim their kingdom and rule mankind.
Five books in and this series is still a page-turning, action-packed adventure. As the plot developed, I read faster and faster, eager to see the outcome. I received a free copy but my review is voluntary and honest. .It’s a spell-binding fantasy and I couldn’t put it down until I read the final page!
I snagged Crown of Dragons (Book 5 in the Age of the Sorcerers series) and yep — the chaos just went full throttle. The capital has fallen under Ravin’s brutal rule, turning citizens into slaves, while Lenore finally shakes off her grief and vows to summon an army. Meanwhile, Devin is racing to finish the Unfinished Sword in time to save everything. And through it all — what about the dragons? Because they’re still lurking and poised to upend the game.
The pace is wild, the stakes feel real, and things finally feel like they’re hurtling toward something massive. You’ve got multiple players doing big things, betrayals, war brewing, and the dragons — yes, the dragons — might finally have their moment.
It’s not always easy to keep all the strands straight (there are a lot of moving pieces), but honestly that adds to the thrill. And the ending? It left me both pumped and desperate for Book 6.
Also — can we talk about how much I worry for the dragons? Because I swear if the next book doesn’t let them soar I’m going to riot.
I was given an ARC of this book and I found it be an enjoyable fantasy adventure.
The story carries on from the last one and further delves into the journeys of multiple characters. Each character fits well into the story and the threads are gradually coming together - I really like how this has been done.
The writing style makes for an easy read, it's fast-paced and has a great sense of place. There are goodies and baddies and those in between, and not everything is clear cut - like reality.
Overall, I think this is an excellent read and I highly recommend it.
Crown of Dragons plunges us into chaos under Ravin's cruel rule, but Lenore rises from despair to claim her destiny. Watching her summon an army is a thrill! Devin's quest to finish the sword adds suspense as he races against time. And let’s not forget Nerra and her dragons — the stakes have never been higher! This installment expertly blends betrayal, bravery, and unbreakable bonds, keeping you hooked until the last page
Written in true Morgan Rice style, you have a book with multiple characters ranging from the good guys to the villains written in a medieval time which is Rice's best genre of books in my opinion. This book is a page-turner filled with characters that you fall in love with and follow from book to book as you live vicariously through their perils. An enjoyable read.
OMG! on the edge! Will they die from slavery… more plague… nope look theres a crap ton of dragons… but here comes a savior! Whats gonna happen we dont know ugh this series is killing me in the best of ways.
This installment solidifies the interdependence and interconnection of the main characters. As events draw more of them together, the dragons become more than just legends of another time. A couple of the characters remain easy to dislike but hints of redemption for them found a way into the text. The only real problem is that it seems like many of the characters might not survive the next book.
