Spies follow shadows, private investigators keep secrets, and bodyguards know where the bodies are buried...

For ex-spy Vivian Carmichael, her new life as a private investigator has helped to ease the pain of being ruthlessly burned by the CIA.  When she and best friend Parker Chase land a lucrative gig as bodyguards for a prominent Savannah family, it's the perfect chance for her to taste a little of that old life without the danger.

Or so she thinks.

In this long-awaited fourth book of the Pistils series, Vivian faces the greatest challenge of her life: finding out that old ghosts really can rise from the grave.

I'm an author, photographer and blogger, I'm married to a wonderful chef, and I LOVE TO READ! Come over and say hi on Instagram @twintypebooks, and leave a comment mentioning if you found me via Goodreads!

I don't bite, so please feel free to add me as a friend! I also love book recommendations (I'm always reading SOMETHING), so let me know if there's anything that you think I should check out! I am a stalker of NetGalley as well, and am always happy to check out (and review) new authors' work!

My favorite genres are Women's Fiction, Adult Contemporary, Historical Fiction, Romance, Mysteries, Espionage, and Thrillers.

Books I have zero interest in are bodice-rippers, done-to-death tropes, and writing filled with errors (I will DNF and post a review saying so).

A very engaging fast paced read. The best of the series. The final pages lead me to believe there may be a 5th addition to the series and will be a definite read on my part. Can’t wait to see what happens next! I love the characters, especially Viv & David, and have a real emotional connection with them.

I received a free copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

Nightshade is the fourth installment of Kate McNeil’s Pistils series. Having read the other three books in the series, I was ecstatic to read the fourth, and most recent addition to this series. Once again, Kate knocks it out of the park! I absolutely LOVE Kate’s writing style!

I am going to end up writing at least one spoiler, so if you have not yet read this book, please stop reading my review at this point.

This story picks up with Vivian & Parker still running their PI business out of the flower shop they own & operate with Parker’s grandmother. They get hired to go on an awesome adventure with two elderly women, & David enters the storyline during their adventure. Upon return, that’s when chaos once again returns, & of course involves Vivian. What ensues made me fall in love with David even more than I already was, which I didn’t think was possible. When the chaos is resolved for the most part, with David, with M16 at his back, working with Vivian to find answers. The story ends with some loose ends that can lead to more tales for this series.

I absolutely LOVED this book, & can not wait to see what else should come from this series, or what Kate will come up with!

Keep up the awesome storytelling Kate! I love where you’ve gone with this series & can’t wait to read what you write next! I’m definitely one of your biggest fans!

I received this book as an ARC.

The Adventure continues, this time, across the pond, and we're introduced to a few new characters. I enjoyed the change of scenery in the novel and the introduction of the octogenarian twins, but there's something just too clandestine about Vivian & David's meetings...
I hope to see more of Charlie's involvement, and looking forward to finding out who the CIA mole is...
The jig is up Linka.

This has to be the best yet in the Pistils series and I hope there are even more to come. The Author continues to use the same techniques to bring the reader into the story that she has in the past. The creative language and specific details that are used make everything very realistic. I truly believe in the two couples relationships and everything that has happened during the series pulls together nicely. If you haven't read Pistils yet you need to start! I recommend this book to everyone but you need to read the others first in order to understand it.

I absolutely loved this book - my favourite of the series! This one takes you on a emotional rollercoaster, as Vivian makes some big life choices, and some people from her past return and make some unwanted choices for her.

Vivian always knew there was a possibility of her past coming back to haunt her, but what happens here was beyond that. She is a fighter, though, and won't go down easily.

This is a book (and series) full of suspense and intrigue, but also love and friendship and all that warm, fuzzy stuff. This was a great read and I so hope there'll be another one!

I received a free copy of the book from the author, for purposes of a fair and unbiased review.

Kate did an amazing job balancing the action with the romance. Her level of research while writing this book is obvious with each word written. I loved this book and am always eager to read more when it comes to the adventures of Vivian!

I have read all the books in the series and this one is as good and possibly a bit better than the first three. The balance between action and romance is great. The character development makes you feel as if you know these characters personally. I hope there is more to come with this series.
