Updated Review 8/11/22: "Nothing changes you as much as making new connections." Absolutely loved rereading this volume again and seeing all our guys interact together! They make me so happy! <3 <3 <3
Original Review 5/23/22: THESE GUYS ARE JUST TOO WHOLESOME!!! *happy sobs*
This has been one of my favorite series and definitely one of my most anticipated reads this year AND IT WAS WORTH THE WAIT!
These goofy guys just make me so happy and I love how they all look up to/admire one another in different ways. It was SO precious seeing Shun tell Souma something that was oh so encouraging in one of the chapters! <3 <3 <3
And Hayate!!! If I had any "complaint," it would be that we didn't get enough page time with him (he's my favorite <3), but he continues to be so stinkin' adorable that I just can't even!! I love his character to pieces!
And the new guy who I will not name due to spoilers!! I LOVE HIM!! I really enjoyed how he has a backstory interwoven with another character and how that played out! Very good, very precious, and leaves me very excited to see what happens next!
Truly, I loved everything about this volume! I think Shun's chapter was my favorite, but I laughed so much reading all of this! The series truly never fails (or disappoints) in brightening my day with these guys' silly goofs!
There are so many nice things in the world. I too want to give something like that to the world soon.
This manga is perfect!!!!!!!!!! If you're having a bad day, this story can be the one to cheer you up! I love following their life, seeing their clumsy but cute self, and how all of them end up meeting each other and radiate more happiness (and goofiness hahahha). Even though the chapters are all pretty relaxing and there's no elements of suspense, there are never a boring moment! The author is also great at introducing new characters, which makes the story flows easily~~ The art style is also really really adorable especially when they have sparkles on the happy faces awwww looks like mochi I want to pinch their cute cheeks🥺🥺🥺🥺❤❤❤
There's a new cool dork on the scene and he's just as adorable as the other guys. Again, no heavy analysis or thoughts for this book. It's light and fluffy, a complete opposite of the Cronenberg book is just finished listening to. This was the perfect sensory cleanser. One small, thing; I would love some romance in this. Preferably queer romance.
Another cute volume. This one was a little harder to connect with, especially with the addition of a new character. I really enjoy seeing the friendships continue to grow, though. I think Mima's my favorite character.
Oh the way I’m so in love with all of them (✿˃̣̣̥᷄u˂̣̣̥᷅ ) now that Takayuki has also reunited with a childhood friend of his (who happens to be super clumsy as well), things are getting so much more funny. Takayuki not remembering Motoharu from the get-go is literally the very thing I’m always scared of, because I always have trouble remembering people, so it’s something that I could relate to.
I hope Motoharu will be able to join in the gang soon; he seems really lovely (I’m biased because he has long pretty hair <3)
This volume is pretty much my favourite volume so far! Here are some other things I love in this volume: – Shun writing a reply letter to the girl who confessed to him – Takayuki’s ad idea for Motoharu’s book-turned-movie; I think it’s a really beautiful execution that I wish I could see in real life! – the possibility of the gang going on a roadtrip/vacation together! – Hayate thinking it’s impossible for him to use a cute kids umbrella but then there’s Takayuki who don’t mind it at all as long as he’s dry – (I forgot it’s in this volume or the previous one but) Souma finally letting himself giggle openly and not hiding his laughter after making a clumsy mistake BOY IS SO ADORABLE
With the way this manga is structured, you only get glimpses into the lives of these characters until they bump into another character to transition the perspective. It's part of the reason why I feel (at times) I'm missing that extra something because I want to stay with each character longer instead of by piecemeal. That's how I felt about volume 2 and wondered how they can keep the story sustained in this way. But, I didn't expect that volume 3 could hit me that hard. That ending was so sweet and heartwarming and I loved it and I enjoyed getting to know the new character introduced here. The flashbacks with Mima and Igarashi helped to add substance and background with a pay off at the end. Mima wanted to do his best to promote his friend's craft. He wants the world to engage in it. That world includes his friends so he thought about them and found a way (no spoilers) to bring even strangers together. Love how this series centers around a group of dorks who admire each other and gain energy and inspiration because of their friendship.
Did I just learn that Yuta Nakamoto of NCT 127 is playing Hayate in the live drama of Play It Cool, Guys? Yes. Did that prompt me to finally read the next volume in this adorably wholesome series? Also yes. Is this become one of my favorite manga series to ever grace this planet? Wholeheartedly yes.
I didn't realize how much a basic plot of clumsy guys pretending to be cool and making friends along the way would capture my entire heart and soul. It's truly the most delightful thing to end a day and read a volume about a bunch a bois being bois. Going to school, being an adult, and exploring yourself are all just a part of that journey.
Now, in this particular volume....we get a new clumsy boy. The one who does it confidently: Motoharu Igarashi! Famous young author, and space cadet by trade, Igarashi officially joins the part of clumsy boys! And he's kind of a dream boat too! (My roommate says that I have a thing for guys with long hair....it's not a lie)
This volume didn't make me laugh as hard as others, but it's still just a delight.
More of a 3.5 star rating but I gave it 4 stars since I liked the flashbacks that were shown in the volume. I really like that the new character ended up being the childhood friend to one of the main 4 guys. It was also really cute seeing how much they admire and genuinely enjoy spending time with each other. It was funny seeing the background characters reacting to all of the clumsiness from the boys.
This is a really cute series and I like it more and more as I read on. I really like the new character that was introduced and his backstory and connection to Mima is sweet. I'm looking forward to seeing this animated.
The new person appears and it’s tied to one of the connection to of the of cool clumsy guys, such a (quite) heartwarming reunion!🫂.
Also the advertising for that specific characters book to movie was an amazing idea!! Wish it exist so I can watch it too… 😭 can’t wait for the next volume 4!
OH !! New character alert !! Who is just as clumsy and forgetful as the rest !! Sir, you’ll be fitting right in with this group !! But how this series continues to get more wholesome with every volume is just delightful !!! I really appreciate how much their lives have become entwined together!!
3.68 - Average Motoharu's introduction allows a more focused plot. Clumsiness is sprinkled throughout. A relaxing slice-of-life with hints of humour. Character interactions are sporadically driven by chance and relation.
2.75🌟 rounding up. I was hoping these would continue to get better as I went, but I did like the second volume more than this one. There are two characters, who I feel are drawn so similarly at times that I have a hard time telling who is who sometimes.
I'm crying 😭😭 I love this series so much 😭 It's so wholesome and funny 😭 MCs are so stupid 😭😭 I love himbos so much I really do 😭 The art style is also so damn nice 😭😭 A comfort read frfr 😭
