A power still unharnessed, a destiny looming, a battle she can’t lose, and a whole shitload of trouble.
Elena Jensen should be safe and sound at Alpha Wolf Academy, enjoying her life and creating a future with her mate and friends. Instead, she’s in Russia to fight for the Alphaship of her family’s pack, a battle that won’t end until either she or Ryker are dead.
She’s steadier now, stronger, and more in control of the natural born Alpha powers that make her a threat, but her powers are growing, and she has no idea how they’ll react in a fight to the death.
Elena returns to the country where her parents were murdered, to a pack who don’t know her and who doubt her ability to lead. Political intrigue and deadly plots await at every turn, making it hard to know who to trust. To win the Alphaship and her life, she’ll need to trust her mate, her friends, The Sisterhood, and herself.
But how do you trust something that refuses to be harnessed and threatens to consume you and everyone you love?
This is the final book of the Alpha Wolves Academy series, and it couldn’t come fast enough for me. Elena and her crew are in Russia for the alpha trials that she needs to participate in in order to defeat Ryker and take her place as alpha of the Russia Pack.
This series started off real strong and just lost the heroine, and me, during the course of the last 2 books. I think what the author was going for was a heroine who is strong, but very vulnerable, unsure of the powers within her and not sure she wants the future that fate has in store for her. But what we got was an insipid, simpering mess of a child playing at adulthood. By the end, I felt real pity for her mate, Bash, and her new circle of friends (because she sure dumped her old “best” friends like a hot potato) because they all had to put up with her. I would find it so emotionally draining to have a friend like her. Seriously.
I think one thing that might have helped, is to have the story told from a few different character’s POV. Being locked into Elena’s head for 5 books was its own form of torture. Which is why it took me a week to read this series, rather than a few days that it normally would. Tamping down on her endless self pity parade would have been nice too because it got super annoying and just ended up clouding all other aspect of the plot for me.
It could be because I didn’t like the way our heroine was portrayed, but I thought 5 books was about 2 books too many. If you’re going to have that many books dedicated to one person, she had better be a stellar character. And Elena wasn’t. She reminded me of Anakin Skywalker (in the Star Wars books, not the movies), nothing but a whiner of epic proportions who cannot appreciate the gift he was given. I’ve read hundreds of books in the Star Wars universe, and my favorites were ones where Anakin was not present. He was actually pretty selfish, which I thought Elena was as well. I mean she spent much of the first book so upset about being separated from her “besties” from her home town to quickly dropping them as a relic of her past. She snaps at her mate and her friends quite frequently, but passes off her actions as Ok because she’s dealing with too much. By the end of the series I couldn’t, for the life of me, see why her friends would want to stick around.
Anyway, I don’t really recommend this series. I think readers would enjoy the first 3 books as I did, but after trudging through the last 2 books, I didn’t think the trip was worth it.
SYNOPSIS (of 5 Book Series): Poor girl gets a scholarship to an elite academy where she meets her soulmate and discovers that she is more than just another shiver. There is the required BFF and Queen Bitch as well as a full scale attack on the academy, shooting, kidnapping, torture and fight scenes with, ultimately, a HEA. The story arc covers the FC finding out who and what she is, how she copes with that discovery and the people trying to bring her down. There is a strong sub-plot around female wolves fighting for equality and against the predominantly patriarchal hierarchy.
First, a gripe. Book 1 was free and it was a decently well written story so I then bought Book 2. The price of over £4 for a book (apparently reduced from £11 - really?) that is just over 200 pages is ridiculous but I bit the bullet and bought it. I, unfortunately, then allowed myself to get sucked in to buying the remaining books to see the story arc through. I should not have wasted my money. My gripe is, (and I appreciate that I, of my own free will, bought the remaining books) that the author then did what I hate which is decide to milk her readers and drag the story out over a further 3 (short) books when the story would have been better served to be over 3 at most. Each book had less content with Book 4 barely being worth reading considering what it added (or didn’t add) to the story. I was skimming by the time I reached Book 5 only to have the climax end up as one of those ones where the author disappears up their own a@$e and decides to introduce allegory as oppose to actual clear description into the final fight scene. The result is that you don’t really understand what is happening and the flow is severely interrupted. There’s no real satisfaction of the bad guys getting their just desserts and questions are left unanswered. The whole climax was a waste of time. If I could go back I would not buy any of these books.
The editing through this series is not good with annoying editing issues where incorrect words used. This is jarring and ruins the flow of any story. How hard is it for authors to publish properly edited books?
I found it ironic that the FC is this story wants to be a writer and there are parts of the story where the FC is being given advice on the novel she is writing. It is ironic because this author could do with taking her own advice. There are so many gaps in the story arc that it becomes more than annoying. Examples: - When Book 2 starts you are told that months have passed since the events ending Book 1 yet there is no close out of what happened after the attack on the school and the rescue. What happened to Xavier? How did the rescuers arrive at the school? What did the FC do over the intervening months and at Christmas etc? How did Danielle react? - In Book 2 the FC & MC are at a party and we are told there’s a scream with people running away. Then suddenly the FC is back in her room. No explanation as to what the scream was about or what happened. - In Book 3 we are again told that months have passed since the events ending Book 2 but no open questions are answered. What happened with Ben, Jared etc? Did the FC’s relationship with Daniela change? Why wasn’t Viktor captured, how did he get away? How did they find the FC? - In Book 4 there is, yet again, a gap between the events of Book 3 and the start of Book 4 and more open questions. We don’t really get a clear picture of what the FC did to escape, just some allusions to dead bodies, no clarity on what happened to Xavier until a brief mentioned some way into Book 4 and no clarity on how the FC was rescued. - Why, at no point, did the FC ask who Ariana and Ryder were and how they just suddenly popped up at the academy?
The gaps become more annoying towards the end of Book 5. How can an author draw a story out over so many books with such drivel padding it out and then leave so many open questions when the series is “finished”? What happened to the whole story line about the attacks on the Sisterhood? How does the FC move forwards with her powers? What happened to Adriana? What the hell was the fight with the guy with the crowbar all about? What about the MC’s family and his grandfather - was the FC ever actually introduced to is family?
I’d like to give a specific should out to Book 4 which was just a complete waste of space and simply full of the FC and her angst. By this point I found the FC annoying and weak. Despite the author trying to show her as kick ass I found her the opposite. No real strength of character or fighting spirit and completely self absorbed. Everything was about her.
There are Irritating inconsistencies with timelines such as reference to the FC only becoming soul mates after knowing MC for 6 months then a reference to FC being with MC for almost 6 months yet she’s been at the school for almost a year at that point; reference to it being a year since the attack then to FC knowing Rory for almost a year when she met her prior to the attack. Months passing between the end and beginning of each book with no real clarity as to what has gone on during that period.
As mentioned, this author is a believer on padding out a story and there are constant recappings of prior story ie how Daniela was a bitch. Seriously, how many times can an author write the same thing. Whilst it is vaguely acceptable to do a recap at the beginning of a book as to the previous book to keep recapping sections throughout a book is just annoying and repetitive.
One of the comments that the FC receives on her writing is around fleshing out characters. This author really needs to take that advice. Whilst there is a degree of depth to the supporting characters (although you never get any real back story on their families or lives prior to meeting the FC) I felt that the MC was very superficial. Interactions with the MC seemed to consist of either sex or descriptions of their mental mate bond. You get very little in terms of real interactions between the FC and the MC. In fact most of the interactions are between the female characters which I found very strange. When exactly did the MC & FC spend time together that was not having sex? Whilst there are vague references to the MC’s grandfather you don’t actually meet him or the MC’s parents so you get no real backstory or development of the MC’s character. He comes across as relatively weak in reality with the FC doing all the fighting. There’s no alpha male here.
This was a good conclusion to the AWA series. Although I did enjoy it less than the other books in this series it is still worth the read, and we have a conclusion that leaves us still imagining but not wondering.
One of the...issues I guess is the word, I had was the relationship between Rory and Addison and the other gay couple mentioned because they are in Russia. Russia has a law not to "promote a gay lifestyle to minors", and people who are homosexual can face violence and some are even tortured. While I think it is important to have representation of all sexualities in books, and applaud the author for being inclusive in her books, I think it would have been worthwhile to mention that it is dangerous to even hold hands in Russia as a gay couple and how messed up that is and wanting to change it as opposed to pretending the danger doesn't exist.
Aside from that Elena still has some major survivors guilt that seems to flip back and forth in a single sentence. At times she wants to send people away for their safety and the next sentence she realizes that's not the right thing to do. She also feels guilty for people dying and says it's her fault, but the next sentence she says it isn't her fault. There seemed to be a lot of self blame still going on and I personally found it a little too frequent.
We also never figure out who the attacker was sent by or what happened to him, there was an attack and while we can speculate who they were working for we never actually find out.
These things don't mean this is a bad book, I did enjoy it and particularly the trials and of course the battle for the Alphaship. Perhaps my favourite part was when Elena screeched in her friends, something I myself was going to do last September until Covid cancelled my trip to Newfoundland.
This was a great series that I would recommend!

Full Moon is the final book in the Alpha Wolf Academy series. Elena is finally in Russia and ready to fight for her right to become the Russian Pack's next Alpha. She will have to fight Ryker, her cousin of sorts, for that right, as well as gain control of her inner demons. Elena's mate, Bash, is there to support her in every way that he can. Her friends Daniella, Connor, Rory, and Addison are there to lend support and aid as needed. Elena's mentors and other allies from the Sisterhood are there as well. What could go wrong? Everything! Elena quickly finds out that becoming an Alpha is not just a physical test. She goes through intense trials to earn her rightful place as Alpha that brings her past, present, and future on a collision course that could annihilate her. Not to mention, she is up against Ryker and his uncle Michial, men who will do everything underhanded to win.
In Full Moon, we see Elena truly come into her own. She and Bash make discoveries about their mate bond that takes romance and passion to a new level. Intrigue, suspense, paranormal action, twists, and betrayals fill every page. Through it all, you root strongly for Elena and deeply feel for her as she has to overcome so many challenges and obstacles to become Alpha. This book is very engaging and keeps you reading through to the last page. It is a fit ending to this series.

Once again, JJ King gives us an exemplary ending~ Elena, Bash, and the crew is in Russia for the final fight for Alphaship against Ryker. She will experience visions, untold battles, some within herself, memories, doubt, love, camaraderie…but most of all, family and love. She will have to trust her inner self, her wolf, and the ancestors to guide her along the path to redemption, power, and being Alpha. She will be tempted to let go and a strikeout, but will have to retain her control to save others in the process. She discovers some that who sits on the Council are not free of bias. She will also endure trials and tribulations with her fated mate. She has so much to overcome, to prove, and learn to control with little time…and finally a fight to the death! Who will win? How will they win? This epic ending had me crying in places~ I received this as an ARC and am leaving a voluntary review.
I absolutely loved this series... following how Elena grows into the beautiful Alpha and mate that she was destined to be!
I’m so happy for Bash and Elena, finally being able to be happy with their engagement and knowing they can fill Elena’s old home with the happiness and laughter that was once there.
She’s the badass heroine that every woman and girl wishes she could be when she grows up.
She finally got her happy ending and I couldn’t be happy for her. After everything she went through, the fear, the heartache, the sadness and the fight... she deserves it!!
I will definitely need to see maybe a bonus where we can see them get married?? I feel like after everything is as readers have been through to follow her story... we definitely need to see the long awaited marriage... and maybe Elena being pregnant and how she tells Bash? What is Bash like as a daddy?
This series is amazing. JJ King has done a wonderful job of fleshing out the characters, describing settings, thoughts, and feelings in such a way that you can see and feel the emotions of the main characters and see what they are seeing. I found myself holding my breath through the attack on the school, the airplane crash, and the abduction and torture of the main character.
Although there was fear and tragedy within the series, it was balanced by love, hope, and friendship. This was another series that I read one book to the next without stopping. Forgetting about things I needed to do, including sleep. My only regret is that I've finished the last book in the series.
Wow!! Just wow!! How can Elena control such huge alpha powers??? I love how much she has grown thru out the series and also how her relationship with Bash develops!! I also love how her relationship with Daniella turned out and how deep their connection is now. Elena has so much going on right now that it hard to grasp the amount and we see how important her friends, both new and old, are. I hope we get a standalone about Daniella and Connor... I know there is a passionate world going on beneath his stoicism. I am not ready to leave this world yet, so I need some more books on it
We have a lot going on in this book. Love, suspense, action mystery and loss. We have a few new characters that come into play. Elena and Bash have made it to Russia, now who will win the Alpha position? Ryker is still a threat and is going for the Alpha too. How low will Ryker go to get it? Can Elena survive everything she has to go through? Will her friends and Bash keep her sane? Who will win, or will the council decide she is the wrong candidate?

A great ending. Now in Russia, Elena has to fight her cousin Ryker for the Alpha of the Russian Pack. She knows she’s the natural born alpha because she has powers no one else has. But she’s afraid of them. She hasn’t learned to truly harness and control them, and she’s afraid she will accidentally kill someone. But Ryker is truly evil like his father, and he’s cheating. So how can she accomplish her goal without killing him? She has help from her mate and many friends but will it be enough? I did enjoy the conclusion and the entire series of AWA. I thoroughly enjoyed the evolution of Elena and Daniela's friendship. I was really happy to see their fierce loyalty to each other. I do wish there had been a bit more growth with Elena's control of her Alpha powers, or at least more understanding of them by the final battle. Overall, I think she proved she was the better leader of the Russian pack. A follow-up on Daniela and Connor would be nice!

If you are a heir to the Russian pack and a natural born alpha. How hard can it be to claim your place in the Russian pack. Meet with the alpha council and and you are the new alpha? No, a illegitimate cousin comes forth to challenge you. It doesn't matter that he is illegitimate or that his father murdered your entire family in order to claim the role of alpha. It doesn't matter that he was evil, corrupt and a sociopath. The cousin is allowed to challenge you. For months you must endure gruelling get to prove who is worthy. The pack of Russia is depending on you.
This is a continuation of Bash and Elena's story. I think that it could be read as a stand alone book. I enjoyed it. Elena has an unusual alpha power that is either going to drive her mad or she will conquer it. She is fighting for the position of Alpha of the Russian werewolves. The characters in this book are great. I loved the story line. I would recommend it.

I had no idea what Elena was going to face in the final pages of her story...and I'm positively thrilled with the outcome! I cried, I screamed and I felt more feels than I thought I would! Outstanding characters, heartbreaking and action-packed wrapped in a trilling storyline that left me wanting more! Absolutely stunning finish!

Very enjoyable read and great conclusion to this paranormal series. The story picks up after book four and is filled with action, adventure, suspense, betrayal, secrets, discoveries and romance throughout with plenty twists to keep you guessing.
I look forward to reading more books by the talented J J King.

Perfect ending of this story. This story is full of passion and love, our MC is in deepest possible symbiose with Bash, it’s beautiful to see. There is suspense, twists and betrayal. But also friendship, support and future. Trials was really heavy on Elena. She fought battles, also the battles within herself. Really interesting.
We have followed Elena’s journey from a scholarship kid from a random pack to on her way to take her rightful place as Alpha of the Russian pack. Every chapter, every page, every word has building to this. Some women are lost in the fire and some are built from it. Nothing worthwhile comes without struggle and Elena still has a bit to go as she’s thrown into a new country with customs and a language she has yet to tackle. Friends and foes lurk behind every corner as she struggles with her power, her trauma, and her responsibilities.
Have tissues handy for this NC17 paranormal alpha contest between Elena Jensen AKA Elenora Galina Dom Volkova and Ryker Ivan Aristov Dom Volkov, which requires a full, long day.

A long series but so Good. Elena’s path to Alpha was often difficult and almost deadly, through her strength and determination she prevailed. Finding your fated along the way is the best part. I high recommend this series.
This whole series has gripped me from the get go. It has been such a wild ride. Elena is such a strong character surrounded by an amazing group of friends/family. I love it!
This was a great ending! This series was great.I just wish it ended with a better conclusion with certain relationships but that's okay we know what's going to happen. I just wish the author actually put it all in the book at the end.
What a gripping conclusion to this outstanding series. The characters certainly have come along way. This book had certainly a lot of twists and plots. Definitely a series I’ll re read
Loved the ending to Elenas story. In this book she is fighting for the Russian alphaship. There are challenges with her growing powers. Still want more.
I am not ready to say goodbye to Elena and Bash. This book was amazing. It answered all questions we been asking from book one. We had a major battle with Ryker. It was hard to let these guys go as this series is what got my hook on J. J. King. I can't wait to see what else is to come for her.
This is the last book in this series, and I'm trying to keep up with what happens to Elena and Bash. This book starts in a different country, taking place in Russia. A different time than the last book ended, obviously not picking up where the other book ended. This book has Elena accepting the role of Alpha of Russia and starting the trials and tests that come with it. Elena is still very much damaged from the trauma of the previous books, and surprisingly the entire cast of characters is here as well. Although this story is filled with love, friendship and chaos, I really wish it didn't jump around so much. It jumps from one event to the next chapter with something completely different. This story does end happily, but they had to walk through a very treacherous path to get there. I really did love this series. It was sweet, action-packed, and full of danger, but the characters always came out stronger because of it.
What an exciting book. Elena, Bash and their friends try and fight their way to win alphaship of the Russian wolf pack. Twists and turns pop up at every moment forcing them to try their best. Elena's natural alpha powers are gaining strength but maybe too much for her to control. Can she win the fight to become alpha without killing everyone she loves? Can her and Bash have a hea? Will she be safe and happy or left watching Ryker take control if she taps out of the battle. This crazy, action packed book has all the answers. It's also super sweet and incredibly heart breaking. 4/5
