dang

Started out so good. I was laughing out loud. Then suddenly the h became this winey, self absorbed, woe is me pity party. The 10th time she asked him why he would ever want her for one reason or another (once she literally asked how he could want her since her ex cheated). Couldn’t continue. DNF 64%

Stopped reading at 60% I can’t understand how this book is rated so high, for being 29 years old Lilli comes across very immature, for me there’s just something missing, I didn’t connect to the characters at all and it’s easy to work out what happens next, it’s only a short read but I lost interest and couldn’t even be bothered to finish the last 40%

3 *it was free* stars.

I'm not going to lie, the amount of 5 stars on this book is kind of surprising, but then again. If I had read this a couple of years ago, it would have probably been a 4 star for me. But since then my tastes are definitely different.

I'm not sure what it is, but this book lacked something for me. The writing was good, but there wasn't a lot of substance to it. Each plot-line just fell short, never fully developed and finished. The book leads up to the next couple from the way it ended.

There is quite a bit of time jumping in this. I thought it was going to be a good ole' age gap MC book, but it definitely fell short on both those aspects for me.

All in all, it was just okay. This author has some potential in my mind, but she is going to have to work a little harder at staying on point to really pull you in and feel her characters.

Poseidon Malone is a protector and when a slip of a woman ends up on his cabin doorstep, he knows he is going to protect her. Lillianna Rose ran out of her home after she overheard her fiance and best friend plotting her murder. Running she ends up in the snow and finds a cabin she hopes she can lay low at. What she finds is Poseidon who nurses her back together after she falls ill. She had not planned to fall into the arms of another man. However she realizes quickly that Poseidon is unlike any man she has ever met. He is patient and willing to wait until she confronts the two people she should have been able to trust.

This was great, I liked all the characters in this book and thought the way the story unfolded was fantastic. Can't wait to read about the rest of the characters in the books to come.

I love this book. It was a great older/younger love story.
Poi’s den is taking his annual vacation at his late grandfathers cabin. Lili, is running for her life and sanity. Her fiancé and her best friend is trying to get her out of the way so that they can get her wealth. They mess with her health, her car , and try to get her committed to the mental health place.
Her car breaks down when she runs, and its during a snow storm, so she walks out and try’s to find help. She finds Posidens cabin and collapses on his porch. He finds her, saves her life, takes out the best friend and boyfriend, and they fall in love. He has the help of his MC, will do anything for him and his lady.
It is truly a great love story.

Wow! This was a great story!! Random Amazon find.

From the very first page, I was pulled in by Jesse (aka Poseidon)'s story. And when Lillianna arrived on the scene, her story sucked me in as well. Great meet-cute. Great chemistry & banter & insta-love w/o infringing on the overall story. I.e., Poseidon has the immediate "I know you're mine" thing down, but they don't rush right into the sack. There's a time & place for that story line - I was just happy that this didn't go in that direction.

The drama in the story is outside of their relationship, and I LOVED it! Loved also getting to know the other members of the club & am looking forward to more in the series. Definitely going on my favorites shelf! : )

What a first meeting this was between Poseidon and Lilli! Lilli needed the bit of good luck that brought her to Poseidon's door. The time they were stuck in the cabin worked out well. It allowed them to get to know each other, share their history's and come up with a plan for Lilli to be safe once she was better. Once they were back to town and at the clubhouse, it was fun to see how Lilli fit in and helped where she could and how the guys took to having her around. Those that were trying to wrong Lilli were dealt with in a good manner for each of them. But better was how Lilli really got her revenge, but living her life and doing so in such a great fashion with Poseidon at her side.

Could have been a 5*

Loved this storyline but felt like we missed out on the story a bit. I know the book was focused on the relationship but the story behind the characters and what had happened and was happening was a bit lacking, I guess I just wanted more details. Nevertheless it was a good read and will suit anyone who likes their MC books a bit lighter

Fall at my feet

Lilianna, did just that with Poseidon. He is always going to remind her of it as well.
A couple that came about through turmoil. But one that was strong in each other.
I loved this book and can't wait to see what else the others have in store for us readers.

really cute, more of a cookie cutter MC

These are the “nice guys” of the MC romance reading world. Sugary sweet with a cherry on top. My first book by this author. The pace was a little slow at times but not too bad. Reading the next book in the series immediately after this.

I did not know what to expect with this first book in the Poseidon Warriors MC series. However it is a very enjoyable book and I loved all the characters. The writing style is somewhat different than I am use to, but I got use to it quickly. Looking forward to book two.

The first 10% of the story was like reading a check list. Actions were taken without displaying a single thought. Oh? Your fiancé and best friend slowly poison you to get your money and your first reaction is just (almost without a thought) packing your bags and driving away to escape them. No thoughts about why she did not go to the police, the hospital, other friends. No doubts. No questions. Just the action of fleeing.
If something like that happened you would be hysterical, afraid, sad and angry. And would drown in a mind spiral if they found out that she fled etc. What did she do with her phone when she took all her electrics with her?

She flees, she leaves her broken down car in the middle of a snow storm because the lights were blinking... Girl, I thought you were running away and in the middle of nowhere with a blizzard around you??? Drive it till it stops, it won't explode.
She proceeds to walk for 30 minutes trough the snow and thinks Hm maybe I won't survive this. Great observation, maybe just add some feelings to that.

She then collapses at the door of a cabin. When she wakes up in his arms she is a little bit concerned. Understandably. But why the heck doesn't she turn around to see who she is up against and just goes to the bathroom. When she comes back all she can think about is how hot he is....

The story continues and he thinks to himself that he is really attracted to her. Good. Apparently feeling attraction for the second time in your life is enough for him to decide that she is his.
But it just doesn't fit. She doesn't reciprocate this feeling of belonging to him.
Her grandparents left her a huge amount of money and the parents left her their firm which she doesn't have to manage. She even says that in two weeks time she never has to work again. Girl, why are you telling him that. Just say you have money.

On the one side she is a little bit suspicious of him and the food and doesn't want to have anything sexual while she is technically still engaged (she often repeats that she doesn't want to be a hussy, although she didn't love her fiancé and he wanted to kill her) and on the other she just gives herself completely away.

Him:
“It is my concern. I told you I’ve claimed you, woman. You need to get with the program. What that means is since you’re mine, I will deal with that fucktard.” He’s done enough to her and her things, that I don’t trust the weasel anywhere near her.
Her:
“There you go again with that claiming shit. We’ve known each other for less than a day, which defies even the fastest insta-love fiction book out there!”

Actually Insta-love fiction can be even faster than a day, but here even the day long supposedly Insta-love does not work because she does not want him. She just finds him attractive and is too clear headed to fall in love right now.

The theme didn't work, it was just a check list of a plot, there were some minor plot holes regarding the blizzard and being stuck and the flash-backs at the beginning were so weird.

* spoilers

I have been in an MC kick lately and saw the great reviews. I really wanted to like this. I even finished it which was very surprising. The story was very fast paced which did help. Some of the characters sounded interesting enough that I may have tried another if they were out already. I found the writing very immature. Not very realistic. I finished this and two days later in writing this review feeling gipped. I wasted time I could have been reading a good book.

The female character won't "move on" to the lead male character until she " properly " breaks things off with her fiance. No, if you know someone is trying to kill you, that is not how one responds in the real world. If you don't break up in person and move on because your ex is cheating and trying to kill you, it does not mean you are a slut! Again very naive and immature story telling. Then there was the repetitive telling of things repeated by the characters. I seriously thought when I looked up the author she would be 15 year olds. Now I know she just has a strong following that will give any of her books very high reviews based on her personal beliefs.

terrible

Seriously - one of the worst books I’ve ever read. I got it on KU, and when I picked it up, I thought it sounded familiar but I didn’t have it marked as read on my goodreads. As it turns out, I had started reading it, but ditched it at 18%. Maybe because of the unrealistic instalove, or the horrible characters, or their lack of development, or maybe even their ridiculous dialogue (my 6-year old sounds more mature than them). I ended up skimming through the book, and I could probably give you a detailed cliffs notes even though I skipped most of it.

So yea, that was a few hours of my life I’ll never get back. I do NOT recommend. Sorry, not sorry.

This was NOT a MC Story

Cute love story tough guy helping a damsel in distress. The MC story was non existent. This seems to be trend. A passing mention and some dubious action does not make a MC
story. Read Bink Cummings, V. Thelia, L. Wilder to name a few.

I really really really Liked this book. Yes there was a few thinks I shook my head at , came out of a book fog and said "Really?" I have read a few books by this Author and well they are good books. They are mainly time passers. This was one of the better books. I think my problem is that there is always plot holes or plot fillers... I mean things get mentioned or we meet people ....and then nothing happens even though you believe it will and you keep waiting except nothing comes of it. So then you ask yourself why was it even in the book? Why was it mentioned? The book didn't gain anything from it and all it did was nock you out of the book. Like I said this was one of the better books by this author and I really, really loved all the guys the three things that got me was -

1. When Lilli and Kassidy are at the pharmacists arguing Jesse is in the next aisle and mentions there is something is Kassidys hand as she comes closer to Lilli yet when he comes up behind Lilli it's never mentioned again. At first I thought she might be like all the other psycho chicks and have a knife but nothing came of it. I also didn't like how he told her " better leave sunshine" what? Sunshine? This is the woman who screwed up you old lady and your calling her Sunshine?! Came outa left field for a guy like Jesse.

2. The Club girls... J was a bitch and I don't see why anyone put up with that. Especially with what she was doing. We only get told of what happens when she go's postal, in the epilogue. So maybe that might be something in later books along With T and R. ( really liked those girls)

3. The dialysis... Now mind you I am a HUGE forensic files and crime show junkie so I know about thallium and Prussian Blue.. but when they mentioned dialysis I admit I looked it up curious because it just seemed so quick. Like a half an hour went by. From what I found out it's not a minor thing. So I think that scene would have been better if the doctor had a least said it would take a bit and yada yada.. THEN fast forward. What killed the scene was when Lilli walked out swaying... I don't see a hospital letting a patient walking out .. maybe pushing a wheelchair yes and when she stood up THEN she swayed and almost passed out.. that would have been more realistic. Instead she walks out alone swaying and Jesse catches her again.

All in all I really did enjoy the book and it was a good read. I know most don't read for realism but there are just something's you freeze and go wait a minute.. and this book had a few of those.. like Hales and Addy's book. I've read them back to back and I have to say I enjoyed Jesse and Lilli more. The ending was a bit rushed kinda like the author went wait?! It's almost done?! Eeck! I still need to wrap this and this... But again this is just my MINOR issue and the story was a good one. Simple , sweet and easy with a bit a "easy" drama I will of course reread this book and look forward to Tridents book.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A romance with bikers who seemed to have a lot of potential (I really liked the idea of the groom and the best friend wanting to kill the heroine) BUT ultimately it was a disappointment ><
I liked the hero who was a badass biker without being too macho but the heroine just had no survival instinct and she was sometimes so stupid ... I have nothing against naive heroines but there, it was going too far : she discovers that her fiancé wants to kill her and she flees without warning anyone to the north in the middle of a storm without a cell phone ... And of course she gets out of her car without protection which is not at all dangerous ... Then while she is just coming out of a very toxic relationship, she trusts the first stranger she meets ... And I'm not even talking about the fact that she ignores that she is
And the story with the ex-fiancé and the best friend who wanted to kill her was hardly exploited and ended a little too quickly and without real conflicts ...
Anyway, maybe I wasn't in the right frame of mind but for me, it's a disappointment ...
As immensely tired as I am of biker boys falling in love immediately upon meeting a damsel in distress, I enjoyed this book.
Poseidon (Jesse Malone), while staying at a secluded cabin, meets Lilli (Lillianna Rose) when she literally falls at his feet after nearly freezing to death in a blizzard. She falls at his feet and he falls in love. A familiar premise, to be sure, but it is well written in an enjoyable style.
There is attempted murder, intrigue, and a little suspense – all guaranteed to keep the reader’s mind occupied. The story is fast-paced and introduces a host of interesting characters that will undoubtedly be fleshed out in greater detail within their own upcoming books. This one appears to be the first in the Poseidon MC series.
The story is well used: biker meets distressed woman, works to solve the woman’s problem (an ex, of course), solves the woman’s problem with the help of his MC brothers, and sponsors an unexpected (sic) pregnancy.
[sidebar: I thought hard about adding the unexpected pregnancy in case it’s a plot spoiler, but I don’t believe it is. It is such a trope…and for the usual reasons…not a failed condom this time but rather the use of antibiotics which reduce the efficacy of birth control pills (another overused plotline).]
Yes, the plot is old…but…the characters are SO nicely developed and fun to get to know. I got totally caught up in the characters. Not just Poseidon and Lilli, but also other MC members and I liked Detective Ames – I hope he is a recurring character in upcoming books.
Trident (Brock Storm) is the club’s enforcer and is set up nicely for the next book in the series. The setup is done well, stemming from his meeting a woman at his job as an Emergency Department nurse. I’m curious about how that will be handled since there are definitely some intriguing difficulties already outlined in this book. We’ll see….
At any rate, the characters definitely make this book. I like the writing style, too. It is crisp, clean and easy to read. The writer is a good storyteller. That’s something that is missing in too many books, it seems to me. While the story is a frequently recurring one, it succeeds because of the writer’s talent. I’ve never read a book by Ms. Tallman before this one and I’m looking forward to another.
I Give This Book 6 Stars!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Darlene Tallman knows how to write an MC Series that has family as a backbone. We saw it with her series co-authored with Liberty Parker, Rebels Guardians MC & Rebels Guardians Next Generation. She went a little gritty with The Nelson Brothers' & The Black Tuxedos MC and we all LOVED it! Now with the series Poseidon's Warriors MC, she went solo as she went back to her roots and she hit it straight out of the park! In Australia she has even earned herself a well deserved orange ribbon for making #1 with the 1st book in the series, Poseidon's Lady!
Lilli is on on the run for her life when she finds Poseidon at his cabin during a snowstorm. Poseidon was looking for a little peace and quiet for a few days, something he needs from time to time being the President of an MC. When these two meet, with Lilli literally falling at Poseidon's feet, the chemistry between the two is felt immediately.
Even though I would say this is a quick to love book, at the same time it's not. You get to enjoy the build up, watching them get to know each other and watching the chemistry between the two heat up before it explodes into a white hot heat between two people who cannot wait a moment longer before they finally give in to their shared desires.
I said it before to start this review and I want to end it reiterating my point. We know and love Darlene Tallman for her MC Romance books, but Poseidon's Lady took her writing to another level. And with the little teasers that she has posted on her Facebook page I see each of the books in this series just getting better and better, if that's even possible! I can see it now Book #1 - 6 stars, Book #2 - 7 stars, Book #3 - 8 stars... if they would only let us give more than 5 stars! This series is going to be epic! Now when is Book 2 due out, because I need to know what happens with TRIDENT and his QUEEN now!
Poseidon’s Lady is the first book in Darlene Tallman’s Poseidon’s Warrior MC. In it readers meet Jesse “Poseidon” Malone, the president of the MC, and Lilliana Rose. Destiny brings them together during a severe snowstorm as Lilliana “Lilli” fled her existing life after learning that her best friend and boyfriend were plotting to murder her for her trust fund. She seeks refuge at a cabin once owned by Poseidon’s grandparents. They are trapped for two weeks wherein they got to know each other. He learns of her plight and vows to help keep her safe. He is older than she is and was instantly attracted to her when she collapsed at his feet. Can he keep her safe from her best friend and boyfriend? Will they succeed and get their hands on her trust fund? Will their relationship flourish? You must read this book to find out.
As this is the first book in the series, readers are also introduced to an array of secondary characters. Ms. Tallman does a remarkable job in portraying an inner view of life within a motorcycle club. It harsh at times and soft at others. She highlights the strong bonds of loyalty of a motorcycle club whether its forged by blood or brother/sisterhood. I enjoyed the way Ms. Tallman moves her plot through an array of emotions. Readers witness familial love, romantic love, loyalty, greed, betrayal, and justice. Her skill in crafting dialog, both conversational and internal, is outstanding. Her descriptive scenes are vivid and enthralling the reader’s attention. This is an action-packed captivating MC romantic read. Well done, Ms. Tallman!
DNF... I'm sorry this was not my favorite. This book starts with Lilli overhearing a conversation between her best friend and her fiance about killing her. She then decides to leave by getting into her car and driving with no destination in mind. She end up caught up in a blizzard and having to walk to find help when her car dies. She wanders upon secluded house in the woods (keep in mind this is Georgia?) She gets to the house of where a lone man Poseidon is staying and after he answers the door she proceeds to passes out. Poseidon nurses her back to help and decides to claiming her as his old lady. Wow, anyway. Once back to civilization they set out with the help of the police to have her best friend and fiance arrested. Now here comes the crazy part. Poseidon and his group are not a 1% club and were working closely with the cops to get the friend and the fiance arrested. Evidently law enforcement were not moving fast enough and they decide to kill the man. What I don't understand is, they appear throughout most of the book to law abiding citizen and then they decide to kill a man. Huh? The whole book just felt like a contradiction. One minute they are like we need to call the cops, then the next lets kill him. Lilli was engaged to this crazy man the next she just accepts to be an old lady, no questions asked? The book just didn't feel realistic. Either you are a 1% club or you are not this club felt like they were straddling the fence.
Had high hopes for this. It was really long winded, no danger or excitement.
I feel like all I do lately is give negative reviews, maybe I need to stop reading Mc books. 🥲
So the first major complaint is the cover. Jesse/Poseidon is only 35 but looks 55 on that cover, and he doesn’t fit his description. I like to imagine a really good looking bloke. The second thing is I don’t like Jesse being spoken to by his dead best friend. It just seemed really weird. Whatever your opinions are on ghosts, I personally do believe in them, but not like that!!!
Lilli finds Jesse when she’s escaping from her fiancé and best friend. As they plotted to kill her.
He immediately knows she’s ‘The one’ just by seeing her… okay…. Lilli goes to stay with the club and they protect her. It sounded really exciting on the cover but it really wasn’t. There’s no romance, no dating, no wooing, it’s just “You’re mine pretty lady” That’s all he said throughout the whole book! Sex scenes are pretty dull as well.
A few inaccuracies in the book as well. They report her being poisoned to the police. The police then notify Jesse of the results!!! Erm no! They would tell Lilli not him!!! There’s a few others but I won’t spoil the plot.
If anyone has got a good Mc book to recommend, please do.
Finally a complete story!
This book is an appropriate length book that has intrigue and still manages to have explained reasonable closure. There were a couple of things that could have been better. You can tell the author was trying to have conflict with the club girls but it just didn’t add to the story in the beginning so it seems really late in the story when it shows up. Time passes quickly in this story as well but you don’t feel too much like you are missing anything. She left me with a few questions but it appears there is going to be a series so we will hopefully get those answers in upcoming books. Best idea for an MC clubhouse I’ve seen yet though! I gave this book 5 stars because this is by far one of the best stories I’ve read lately. It is a complete story, with reasonable characters, who behave in a somewhat realistic manner. I mean, I’ve never been with a biker but the actions of the heroine seem much more realistic than a lot of books I’ve read lately so I very much appreciate the touch of realism. I look forward to Trident’s story. She did a nice set up for that as well and I still got an epilogue.
Let me say before I start that I have avoided reading MC romances; to me, the two are mutually exclusive. I am, however, a fan of the author, and decided to give it a go. Boy, am I glad I did. Poseidon's Lady is a superb book, which gripped me from the first line right 'til the last page. I didn't want it to end.
Ms Tallman has crafted an incredibly well developed, genuinely likeable cast of characters, teaming them with a gripping and fast paced plot. Dark deeds are afoot, and Poseidon is determined to get to the bottom of every last one.
Refreshingly, although their attraction is instant, Poseidon and Lilli take the time to get to know each other on a deeper level, becoming friends before taking their relationship to the next level. I love that Poseidon cares about what Lilli is dealing with, and truly wants to help her, listening to his heart not another, much lower, part of his anatomy!!!
The banter, interaction, and close bond among the members of the club - an added bonus.
This is a captivating story and I cannot wait to read the next one in the series. Highly recommended.
Poseidon’s Lady by Darleen Tallman was a quick MC read for me. The story is fast paced and focuses on the relationship of Poseidon, former Navy SEAL and President his MC and Lillianna Rose, a woman on the run from her ex-fiancée and best friend who are definitely shady! Poseidon saves Lillianna from near death in the snow and from there , their relationship grows in leaps and bounds. Poseidon is a no nonsense, alpha male who only wants to protect Lillianna, especially when he hears about everything, she has been through following her parents’ death and escaping her ex-fiancés clutches. Lillianna seems to catch on quickly that Poseidon is the real deal, even though it takes her a little while to wrap her head around going from one man to the other. But there is definitely instant attraction between the two and it’s not long before both of them are fighting and loving on each other….with a little bit of help from the MC boys and girls.
Overall, a fast-paced, insta-love MC story with a little bit of drama, some steamy moments and great characters.
Absolutely amazing! From beginning to end I couldn't put this book down what a wonderful start to a new series. Poseidon and Lilli are absolutely perfect for one another. I loved how they were there for each other as the shared their loses with one another. I loved how Poseidon cared for her from the very start and that Winnie made her present know when he needed it. I loved how the brothers accepted her from the very start. Poseidon is very much an alpha through their story and I absolutely loved it. Lilly is making for a great first lady and I loved seeing her out Kassidy I'm her place. I didn't feel bad for Anson one bit. I'm so happy Lily named their little girl after someone who ment a lot to him. I loved that this series is about bringing on the legal side of things because it was quite refreshing. I can't wait to see what the future holds for them, the mc and I'm so ready for Tritian's story.
