Hot Scots #8

Irresistible in a Kilt

Rate this book
The sweetest lies are the most seductive… Eleven years ago, I fell in love with Alex Thorne. He was beautiful, charming, sexy, and the best lover I'd ever had. He's also a bloody liar. Every word that comes out of his mouth is a half-truth, a con, or an evasion. Now I find out my dream job at a university in America is his way of pulling me back into his world. I will never, never fall under the spell of the British Bastard again. Catriona MacTaggart is the one that got away. The Scottish lass has fire in her soul and in her eyes, especially when she punches me. I can handle that. Maybe the truth and I do have a different sort of relationship, but I've never lied about my feelings for Cat. I'll do whatever it takes to get her back, even if it means deceiving her. Alex still knows exactly how to get under my skin, and despite all my intentions, I still can't resist that body and that smile. Maybe it's time I turn the tables and seduce the seducer, to finally solve the mystery he doesn't want me to unravel. Who is Alex Thorne?

Anna Durand is a bestselling, multi-award-winning author of contemporary and paranormal romance. Her books have earned bestseller status on every major retailer and wonderful reviews from readers around the world. But that’s the boring spiel. Here are some really cool things you want to know about Anna!

Born on Lackland Air Force Base in Texas, Anna grew up moving here, there, and everywhere thanks to her dad’s job as an instructor pilot. She’s lived in Texas (twice), Mississippi, California (twice), Michigan (twice), and Alaska—and now Ohio.

As for her writing, Anna has always invented stories in her head, but she didn’t write them down until her teen years. Those first awful books went into the trash can a few years later, though she learned a lot from those stories. Eventually, she would pen her first romance novel, the paranormal romance Willpower, and she’s never looked back since.

Let me start by saying that I haven't read or listened to any of the other books in the series, and I did not feel like I was missing anything by jumping into this audiobook first. Anna does a great job providing backstory and enough info to keep you informed. What a damn fantastic book! I loved it so much I listened to it twice! I could not stop listening. From the hot AF rekindled relationship to all the crazy situations in between. That slow build up of the drama was really good and didn't overpower the story, it just kept slowly building and building. I'm definitely going back to read/listen to the others now.

Elle is a new to me narrator and I was not disappointed in her performance at all. She has a fantastic voice and did a great job as Catriona of the present and past. Cat is a strong woman now and more badass which was really hammered home by Elle's performance. I loved all of Cat's snarky gaelic comments and insults. Elle delivers them perfectly. Her slip from Cat into Alex was pretty seemless as well considering they're two different accents. I can't wait to hear more from her.
Shane, man, I think this is some of his best work. He did a great job with Alex. His transitions from one character to another were smooth. Probably his best female voice work to date, at least that I've heard. I practically forgot it was him.

I had the opportunity to get a ALC copy of this audiobook. I honestly hadn't read/ listened to any of the others in the series. I loved Anna Durand's other novels like Hot Brits, so I thought I would love to listen. Plus, Shane East is a one click narrator for me. Elle Newlands did not disappoint either!

This book was interesting to start because of course the two main characters have a past history and in this book they reconnect. Alex is a British professor working at an American University and Catriona gets a job as a professor at the same University, thanks to Alex himself.

The story is set mostly in the US but the characters do go back to Scotland for a little while. Alex has a little bit of mystery to him and Catriona is determined to get it out of him. The various ways she attempts to seduce him were super hot! Durand does a fantastic job of really letting the reader get to know the characters.

I loved how much research went into this story. I loved "Highland" Games bit. Shane's narration of Alex, was spot on in my opinion and made me fill like I could really get to know Alex's character. I am officially hooked and will be going back to start the series from the beginning!

I’m lucky to received an ALC for this book. This is my very first Hot Scots book that I’ve listened to but I didn’t feel I’m missing out.

I started listening to Anna's book because I love her writing, enjoy Shane East’s narration and wanted to hear a new to me female narrator, Elle Newlands. I loved Catriona and Alex second chance story, this is one of my favourite trope to listen. This story is beautifully written by Ms. Durand, I love that she writes strong women characters and Catriona is one of them. Her passionate heart and fiery spirit kept Alex on his toes. And the intense romance scenes that I'm so glad the author provided were off the charts.

It was a great narration from ElleNewlands as Catriona and as always a top notch narration from Shane East. I’m looking forward to read and listen to other books in the series.

First off, I have to say that the entire Hot Scots series should be on your TBR or TBL if you're a fan of rom-com with a bit of suspense and a lot of naughtiness. This series is so binge-worthy, I promise. Each book is a standalone HEA, and you get to visit with familiar characters in each installment.

On to the latest, Irresistible in a Kilt...
Alex and Cat have a second chance after their relationship ended disastrously a dozen years ago. Alex loves Cat, but doesn't feel deserving and doesn't want to drag her into what he feels is a sub-par existence. He's both arrogant and insecure at the same time. But man, is he wrong! It's a classic case of trying to protect the good woman from the mess that the man thinks he is, but he's not at all. And kudos to Cat for being the strong-willed, determined woman that she is and recognizing that the only thing standing in Alex's way is Alex himself.

Cat and Alex's interactions are HOT, HOT, HOT from page one, and not just in the bedroom. They clash, they spar, they flirt outrageously, and they talk, nurture and heal, too. Their chemistry is off the charts, and they are not afraid to explore it no matter where they are. That added a really fun element to the book. Anna Durand took the time to really let us know the characters' personalities, and we also got to visit with some of our favorite McTaggerts siblings and cousins along the way. I love seeing prior characters, especially when the author is true to the character's nature throughout the series, and Anna Durand definitely knows these McTaggerts inside and out.

As for the narration, Shane East and Elle Newlands really blew me away. They really brought the characters to life, and enhanced the experience of the book. They also took on several different accents and character traits throughout, which made it so easy to tell who was talking when. Scottish, British, American, male, female - they were able to differentiate each and every character clearly, while still bringing the emotion and feeling to the delivery.

A definite A+ listen in my book, and I'm sure I'm going to listen/read this one again.

Alex and Cat have a passionate history!

For these two archaeology professors, history is everything, and no history is more important than facing what broke them up more than a decade ago. Cat knows Alex isn't telling her the whole truth, which Alex just can't bring himself to do, no matter the cost. Not only is he not in touch with his feelings, he's actively trying to outrun them.

I enjoyed the fireworks at the beginning while these two were still navigating their misdirected passion, and I loved the way the author took us through both Cat's and Alex's POV so we could see every step of their rekindled love story. Once all the secrets were out, however, I felt a bit letdown because the reasons for keeping the secrets ended up not being an issue at all, which only made Alex look selfish and petty for not telling her sooner.

The book really takes off when Cat's brothers and cousins get involved, and I had a lot of fun with the events back at Rory's castle. There were a few inconsistencies that left some questions hanging, but they were minor and didn't affect the plot at all.

The author also brilliantly connects these characters to those in another of her series and hinted at another romance ahead. I loved the HEA, and enjoyed the way it segued into an introduction to the next MacTaggart love story.

The author graciously provided the audiobook file along with the ebook ARC, and let me tell ya, if you love accents of any kind, you're going to want to listen to this book! Both narrators do a wonderful job with the various accents (Scottish, English, American) and the listener is never at a loss as to who is speaking. I'm not a regular connoisseur of audiobooks, but this one truly stands out as a winner.

This is my first book in the Hot Scots series, but it won't be my last. I love Anna Durand's writing but somehow hadn't listened to this series yet. It is a standalone and can definitely be enjoyed without having read the others. Although this is Catrioana MacTaggart's story, it was fun to meet the other members of the MacTaggart clan and I can't wait to listen to their stories too.

There's so much to love about this second chance love story - the writing, the characters, the witty banter, the sexy scenes and the wonderful narration. Cat and Alex have a rocky road based on how their past relationship ended. Cat is smart, feisty and determined to fight for both herself and for what she believes she can have again with Alex. Alex is charming and yes, irresistible, but also closed off and jaded because of his past. He feels unworthy of Cat's love and tries his hardest to evade his feelings for her. Cat never gives up trying to break down his walls, thank goodness! As Alex slowly revealed his secrets I fell even more in love with him. Their journey is fun and flirty but mixed with a bit of suspense, too. My favorite kind of story!

This story was wonderfully written but also wonderfully narrated by Elle Newlands and Shane East. They bring out the perfect emotions from their characters and truly bring the story alive. Elle Newlands is new to me, but I was impressed with her. I love her Scottish accent! I am a huge fan of Shane East and his incredible talent shows again here. He's charming, sexy and vulnerable all at once.

I'm looking forward to the other books in the series. I'm definitely hooked!

The entire Hot Scots series from Anna Durand is excellent, and this story is certainly excellent as well. It is also very emotionally compelling. The characters, Catriona and Alex, and brief mentions of their fractured relationship had appeared elsewhere in the series, but this book can absolutely be enjoyed as a stand-alone.

The 2 main characters are both archaeology professors, devoted to understanding history. Both of them have been unable to move past their own history together, which came to a crashing end more than a decade ago. When they both end up teaching at the same University, Cat resolves that she is going to have answers regarding the mystery that tore them apart. She knows Alex isn't being truthful with her. As much as Alex wants to tell her everything, he can't bring himself to do it. He is trapped in the ugliness and shame of his past. The sad emotions in this book are well-balanced by the witty dialogue, laugh-out-loud moments and scorching hot passionate interludes.

I thought the dual POV was incredibly helpful in helping me as the reader understand that Alex was really crippled by his feelings, not simply making casual excuses for flippant choices. It also helps a lot in understanding why Catriona decided not to give up on him. I like that the HEA did not extend to all of Alex’ life because in the real world, that is also how it goes. It was great that the end left me intrigued with the set-up of the next story, and seemingly big hints about the stories after that. I will definitely be reading them all!

The book starts off with one of the best lines I have read in quite a while, and doesn't let up from there. This is Catriona MacTaggart's story about the man who she loved and left twelve years ago, because he was keeping a secret from her and would not be honest. She left not only Alex Thorne, her lover of two years, but her graduate program in archeology, and had been cursing him with every name she could come up with all these years, until she is confronted with him when her cousin Logan, who has been working for the drat man, brings him to the family Highland games.

He never got over her either and not only tricks her into accepting a position in Montana at the University where he is currently employed, but maneuvers housing so that the only place she can stay is his mansion. She decides that she is going to get the truth from him about the events of twelve years ago no matter what, but soon realizes that she still loves the Limey Louse. He on the other hands starts having second thoughts, until both their lives are in danger by the villain of the last book, which leads to the whole MacTaggart clan getting involved.

Lovers to enemies to lovers again. Fun characters, lots of action make this a great addition to the rest of the series. However, I found some of the family connections a bit confusing and now would be a good time for the author to begin the books with a family tree, especially with the Dixons now connected. Perhaps in the next book about cousin Jack?

I read an ARC as part of the authors Review team. This is my voluntary and unbiased review.

Irresistible in a Kilt by Anna Durand is #8 in the Hot Scots series. Admittedly, I am a series purist. I don't often jump in the middle, but with Irresistible in a Kilt, I will say I did not feel any backstory was missing. There are several instances where there are obvious crossovers, but the author does a good job of keeping the reader informed when it is necessary.

Alex Thorne and Catriona MacTaggart have a turbulent past. Their relationship ended abruptly, and not on a positive note. When Alex hopes to rekindle their romance, Catriona makes him work hard for it. Their resistance, first Cat unsure she was willing to trust Alex in again, and then Alex realizing their intimacy may be too much for him, makes their journey that much more interesting.

Alex and Cat's story is sweet, witty, and very steamy. Cat's inner thoughts on Alex's teaching prowess gives me a new way of seeing the act of college lectures. And the Highland Games the MacTaggart clan present gives the story a bit of old-world feel to it.

I was gifted an early audio copy of Irresistible in a Kilt, which is my preferred way of experiencing a book. Narration is everything. I know that there has to be some sort of direction, but misinterpretation of text is one common issue I have. Shane East and Elle Newlands are excellent at this. The story flows very well with their performances. I would suggest Irresistible in a Kilt by Anna Durand to those who enjoy a modern romance. I think the Hot Scot series is the next on my list of ones to follow.

A continuous and entertainingly smexy-fueled battle of one up-man-ship/up-woman-ship

Irresistible In A Kilt (Hot Scots Book 8) by Anna Durand is a fantastic, entertaining romance journey. Alex and Catriona finally get a chance to explore the why’s and how’s of their past. Alex is determined to remain aloof, uninterested and dispassionate regarding Catriona’s return to his life and orbit. The barmy thing about it, its at his own machinations, making that happen. This poor man is the definition of denial! Catriona, on the other hand, shifts from determined to banish Alex from her life to fiercely determined to learn all of Alex’s secrets and love him into self-supplication.
The plot is chock full of quips, quirks, teasing banter, seduction, fun-filled flirting and an eventual wearing down of Alex’s guarded, ironclad, deflective walls. Once Alex bares his guilt-ridden past, Catriona embraces his with empathy and love, the opposite of his expectations. But the plot has antagonism built within it, that rears its ugly motivations and provides the whole MacTaggert clan an opportunity to rally and demonstrate love and acceptance for Alex.
Overall, Catriona and Alex’s separation, while so very long, was also just what this couple needed to work through their past by patiently breaking down walls with love, understanding and acceptance. Catriona and Alex’s reunion is a fun and entertaining journey beginning to end. The HEA especially is delicious, loving and promising more Hot Scots to come.

I received a copy from BookSprout; this is my honest review
-Although the story overall is interesting, the really good part of the story starts ~45 minutes before the end. For a book that should've taken me 5-6 hours, it took me 12 long, stretched hours.
-Some aspects or information are repeated over and over throughout the book and it got old. Some of them were even word for word. For example, the names Catriona gave Alex in front of her family. Or the fact that she's not the same infatuated girl Alex used to know. Or when Alex wants to know "who had the pleasure of enjoying your body".
-At some point, the author forgot that Alex & Catriona didn't see each other for a long time. First for 11 years, then 9 months, then overnight. Catriona says "these days he never...". She just got there.
-There's also the fact that Catriona thinks Alex is the best lover ever "based on that single encounter yesterday". How can you say that when he just plunged into you with no kissing or touching?
-My pet peeve? Alex's secrets. Too many secrets, too long to reveal. When told, they are not deemed being secrets in my opinion. They are petty things anyone could have done in their youth.
-Alex and Catriona are both exhibitionists so it calls for a few laughs, especially when Logan spots them in the hall.
-So, in the last 45 minutes, you have suspense, mystery, more secrets revealed, bad parent looking for absolution, new family get-together, a bit of romance, and a small step into the next book.
-I'm still confused as to why Reggie doesn't like Alex.

Irresistible In A Kilt by Anna Durand

I loved the push and pull between Catriona and Alex. Irresistible In A Kilt is an enemies-to-lovers mix with a second change romance and I happen to love both tropes. That doesn’t automatically guarantees a ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️, but we’re off to a good start!

Story: well developed with a slow build and some unexpected turns
Characters: I adore both characters. They’re not perfect. He’s secretive and arrogant and she’s impulsive and a brat. But both have their hearts in the right place and they develop — albeit slowly.
Flow: I loved the push and pull and although the MCs not always choose logically the story flows well
Writing and editing: good
Steam: the attraction between both characters is palpable, the book is fairly ‘clean’ to my standards

Although the book is part of a series, it can be read as a stand-alone and I haven’t read the previous stories. It didn’t diminish my joy in the book, it does — however — make me want to read the previous ones about this clan.

Definitely ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars from me and an absolute recommendation!

Disclaimer: I’m leaving a voluntary review and this is my honest opinion. I’m in no way, shape or form coerced, influenced, or paid to leave this review.
I’m not related nor friends with this author and I do not have a personal interest in this book.

I received this audiobook as an ARC for my review.  Anna Durand is one of my favorite authors and Shane East is a favorite narrator, so I knew I would really enjoy it!  That being said, I almost listened in a single sitting, playing "1 more chapter" until 4am.  This second-chance romance with a touch of enemies thrown in started off with a bang and kept me engaged.  It's hard not to fall for Alex's charms and I was very intrigued by his resistance to form attachments and secretive nature.  He is super sexy and definitely irresistible (no matter what he is wearing)!  Cat is a kick-ass character who has learned some tough lessons and isn't afraid to stand up for herself and fight for the answers she needs.  She fights the best kind of dirty!  This story is full of humor with some intrigue, family drama, and is yet another story that proves secrets and lies will not stay buried forever.  I love all of the family dynamics, antics, and teasing.  The sex-positive banter and open discussions made my day!!

The narration sealed the deal on this book for me!   Elle Newlands is a new-to-me narrator with a fantastic Scottish accent and excellent performance!  I look forward to more from her.  Shane's drop-dead sexy voice with perfect inflection and great variation with the different characters was everything we know and love about him.

This is eight in the Hot Scots series. It well written, hot and steamy and had me laughing. I’ve read the first three books and enjoyed them, so I figured this one was a safe bet. I’m glad I picked it up. It reads as a standalone so you don’t have to read the other books, but the other seven books will give you a lot more on the family background and dynamics. I have the first seven books ready to go on my kindle and will be reading the series starting with the first book.

Alex and Cat have a lot of history together or rather apart. They were together for over two years before Cat being arrested for something she didn’t do. When she wanted to know why she was arrested Alex clammed up and refused to talk to her. He let her walk out of his life and she’s spent the last 12 years hating him. Cat has spent the last 12 years avoiding and cursing him every name in the book. Alex recommends her for a job in the US at the university he’s working at and finagles her in to staying with him. Cat decides to forgive him and she’s going to get to the bottom of all Alex secrets. Alex is just as stubborn and wants to keep those secrets secret. Can Cat get Alex to open up? Can they overcome the obstacles that those secrets cause? Will Cat stay after she finds out his story?

This is entertaining, dramatic and romantic. After manuevering Cat into a job and his home, Alex wonders if he made a mistake, because now that Cat has had to face him again, she keeps confronting him about the past. Alex is an emotionally unavailable man who manipulates people to get what he wants from them. Cat had left him 11 years before because she was arrested for something she didn't do and Alex knew why, but refused to tell her. He's never gotten over wanting her, and he wants one more time before he sends her back to Scotland, but Cat refuses to give in to him. She does start using sex to get him to confess things, things that he never anyone to find out. The more Cat learns, the more sympathetic she becomes. He thinks he's unworthy of anyone, his past rules his present, until the past threatens his future. I never really liked Alex, he was too cold and condescending, but learning about his past I see him differently. Cat had good reason to hate him, but I'm glad that she got the chance to discover all that he was hiding. This is a great series, and while this book can be read alone, it's much more amusing to know the backstories of all the characters. I can't wait to read about Jack.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. This is my honest and voluntary opinion of it.

This was my first Anna Durand book and it's book 8 in the series. I feel like it might have been beneficial to have read/ listened to the other books in the series first to fully understand the dynamics of the family as some things happen that had me really scratching my head as to why.

This is a second chance romance with a little suspense thrown in. At the start, I thought it was going to be enemies to lovers but nothing really came of that aspect. It was more a rekindling of a relationship.

I wish there was more of a bridge between how the characters felt to begin with and their change of feelings. It was like they both had a huge shift without any cause or explanation for it. That being said, the chemistry was certainly there and could be steamy to say the least.

Shane East and Elle Newlands narrate. I thought Elle’s performance of Cat was fantastic, but unfortunately, this is one of those cases where I think a duet would have been much better. Her male voice and British/ American accents really took me out of the story, it was very jarring. Shanes performance was brilliant and his transitions between accents and gender was smooth. The production was great with no issues.

Steamy Rapprochement a Long Time Coming

I have read most books in this series, and I enjoy the MacTaggart family characters and their spouses. The books are a little raw for my taste, including profanity and sometimes too explicit love scenes or other descriptions of carnality. But I was looking forward to this one as we have had teases of this couple's tormented past in other books. The book is written from the dual perspectives of the hero and heroine, which I always like in a romance. I thought it was particularly important for this one, or else the hero would not have come across as sympathetic whatsoever. It helps to understand his struggle and emotional difficulties that kept him from being the man the heroine deserved. As with all the books in the series, this is certainly a steamy hot read. I also quite enjoyed the witty banter between the couple. I didn't like that there was a bit of an information dump, some of it repetitive, at the start of the book, which I never like to see in any novel. I'm not quite sure how I feel about the ending in terms of the HEA, but the author did set up the next book of the series well.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

IRRESISTIBLE IN A KILT is the eighth book in the Hot Scots series. Though each book will stand on its own, this series is much more enjoyable if you read it completely and in the order of release.

Catroina and Alex are amazing together. Their banter is hilarious and true to nature, plus their chemistry is absolutely off-the-charts! It is obvious from the first moment that these two belong back together. The fun for the reader was watching Cat fight it. Of course, Alex, is Alex and that makes it all the more funny. For those who have read previous books, you know what that means. If you haven’t, you’ll catch on quickly!

Even if I had never previously read a “man in a kilt” book before, Anna Durand would make me a lover of the genre. Rawr! I will always read her books as quickly as they are available to me.

Note: While I received this book as a gifted ARC from the author, my opinions are my own and are given freely.

Not my first Anna Durand book but it was my first in the Hot Scots series. I just have to say, WOW. I absolutely loved it. My favorite part of this book was the hilarious inner dialog of Alex Thorne. I found myself laughing a lot. This man is part respected professional, part man with a painful past and part man-child. The comedy and inner pain were performed very well by Shane East, narrating as Alex Thorne.  Catriona MacTaggart is voiced by Elle Newlands, a new to me narrator. She is one I will be happy to listen to again. Anna Durand did a great job of making these characters complicated, multi-layered people. The story also included lots of other characters from other books in the series, mostly other MacTaggarts. Although I had not listened to any of the books, I got a good idea of who they were too. I recommend this book to anyone that likes, hot British guys, feisty Scottish women and/or lots of sexy heat. As much as I liked this one, I will now go back and listen to the previous books in this series and any new ones that come out in the future.

This is the first Hot Scots book I listened to. Even though it is a part of a series I didn’t feel list at all, there was enough back story given to show how all the characters relate to the story.

I loved Catriona and Alex’s second chance story. Their chemistry is off the charts from the start. I enjoyed their banter with each other. My favorite part is how Cat never gave up on Alex no matter how much he pushed her away. This book has the right amount of suspense, mystery and humor.

Elle Newlands is a new narrator to me and I really enjoyed her performance. She really captured Catriona’s personality and I look forward to hearing more from her.

Shane East is a favorite of mine and always blows me away with his performances. I love how he can make you feel his characters emotions. Another amazing performance from him.

This book will definitely be a repeat listen for me!

This entire series has been a winner - this is a standalone but the other books are definitely worth reading. Alex and Catriona have A PAST! Twelve years ago they had a relationship and Catriona fell in love with Alex. But he lied and hid things and evaded until she had had enough.

Now a new job offer brings her back into his orbit and while she's still attracted to him, she's not going through THAT again. It's time to uncover the truth.

Loved the characters and their banter. Cat is a great heroine and takes no prisoners. Alex has always wanted Catriona but his secrets aren't going to be revealed, to heck with the truth. When they meet again, Cat decides to find out who he really is. Great interactions between the characters. Both are strong and they do love each other but the half truths and lies must be overcome. Dual POV is perfect for this story so we see both sides and watch as they find a middle ground.

Ms. Durand delivered this second chance romance with all the feels. I loved it. The story line kept me wondering how they were gonna make it work yet again. I love how Cat got Alex to open up and how he finally let her in although he’s a jerk to her and kept pushing her away. I love their banter, and the sex scenes are hot as heck! I only read/listened to one other story in this series and it wasn’t preceding this one. This story is so well written that I did not find it difficult to follow along, and did not need to read the others to understand what’s going on.
The narrators are exceptional, Shane delivers a phenomenal performance as Alex.
Ms. Newlands OMG!!! She’s new to me and I cannot say how much i loved her performance! She knocked it out of the park! I will definitely be looking forward to more from her!

This is Book 8 in the Hot Scots Series by this author, and can be read as a standalone. It is a passionate second chance romance between archaeology professors, Alex and Catriona. These characters are likeable, the connection strong, and the unique plot makes for an interesting read. Once they re-connect, it is a journey of self-discovery as these two flawed characters figure out a renewed relationship between them with love and intimacy while overcoming life's challenges. It is a love story dealing with redemption and maturing love, along with some drama, humor, and steam, plus engaging secondary characters to keep the reader interested. The story flows smoothly and the chemistry between the main characters is hot. An engaging solid read with a happy ending.

Cat is going to force Alex to finally tell her the truth....even as he digs his heels in

Irresistible in a Kilt is the eighth book in the Hot Scots series and is the story of Alex and Cat. They have a history together that crashed and burned over a decade ago. But when they are both teaching at the same college there might just be a second chance, or at least a chance at the truth.
This was a really interesting story and not quite what I had expected based on the characters popping up in previous books of the series. As always the author does a wonderful job of writing and storytelling giving dual POV with depth to the characters. I enjoyed this book and Alex is definitely irresistible when he puts a kilt on!!!

All those wild MacTaggart's are at it again as they attempt to protect Catriona from Alex Thorne. He was her old flame from years ago, and he has gotten her a job at the same University, where he now works. Alex was in hopes of rekindling their old sparks. Things do not go as Alex had planned when some things from his past come back to haunt him, some of Catriona's brothers show up on his doorstep, someone burns downs his house, and then someone kidnaps him and Catriona. Will be ever get the girl or was life just to much? His life was never dull that was for sure. Enjoy the many advantages of Alex and Catriona.

This was a second chance for Catriona and Alex. They had loved each other but Alex kept too much hidden from her. Alex realized he still loved Catriona and was willing to try whatever it took, though he still wanted to keep his past a secret. Catriona was so strong and determined to continue hating Alex, but her heart knew better. Their interactions were entertaining and steamy, and I loved how the truth came out and brought them closer together with all the threats and danger around Alex.

The narration by Elle Newlands and Shane East kept me listening to the story, bringing to life Catriona and Alex as well as all the secondary characters all around them. Together, they enhanced this story.

I bought this story on Chirp, and this is my unsolicited review.

Love this one! I couldn't wait to get my hands on this one! Catriona (love that name BTW) is one fiery girl! She doesn’t hesitate to do what needs to be done. She is one determined lady and wants to figure out a few things from her past with Alex. Alex is a shifty guy who plays his cards close to his vest. He is full of secrets and he can’t decide which to keep…Catriona or his secrets!

I can’t tell you how much I love this McTaggart family. They are sooo much fun when they all get together. Whether is playing pranks, teasing or going into protection mode it is always good.

I did listen to this on audio. Both the narrators did a great job on the different accents. Its joy to my ears.

I really enjoyed this book. Alex came across as your typical wealthy stud who knows he has a very pretty package. Then his layers unfold until you find the real Alex and you realize he has not had the easy life his attitude portrays. Catriona somehow always knew there was good in Alex even when Alex did not think there was. She just has to convince him and, with some help from her family, they work to overcome all the secrets of his past together.

This is Irresistible in a Kilt (Hot Scots Book 8) by Anna Durand and I loved this book. It's Catriona and Alex's story, they have a past history together and are both archaeology professors but they ended in a disaster with a mystery that tore them apart and when she asks Alex for answers he clams up and she leaves. Later Alex recommends her for a job at the university he’s working at and talks her in to staying with him. I loved the story and the characters with their banter it was an amazing book and I loved reading it.
