A must read for Alaskans, especially for new ones like myself! This book helped me realize the bounty of food that is available if you know where and how to look for it. This is especially useful in a state where a majority of our produce gets shipped or flown in, making locally harvested and foraged foods that much better for our health and the health of the planet. Hoping to use this book as a jumping off point for a new foraging hobby and as a reference point in the future. The photographs are beautiful and the write ups on each plant interesting and informative. I love that Schofield includes many different names for the plants including native names and uses. I also greatly enjoyed the recipes she includes and the research she references when talking about plants medicinal uses. Overall a very well put together book and resource.
