Someone is after Mike Recker. After coming close with a drive-by shooting, Recker and the team try to figure out who is behind the operation, before they try again.
As they uncover a name, they also discover his connections to Vincent’s organization. Is Vincent secretly trying to finally take The Silencer out of the picture? Or is there someone else? Someone who may have a connection to Recker’s past. Is it actually Vincent behind the plot? The CIA coming back to him? Or someone that Recker previously had a conflict with?

“Double Barrel” the Latest Mike Recker “The Silencer” Adventure Is a “Page Burner”!!
“Mike Recker”, known to all of us as “The Silencer” continues his quest of protecting “the innocent” in author Mike Ryan’s latest offering, and I have to say it is an extremely exciting read.
The action begins early. The suspense builds, and continues to build, throughout the book making it a joy to read, and I heartily recommend its reading.
Now that I’ve said that I’m certain you may be wondering why I did not give it a five star rating? My answer is I “do not”, under any circumstances” publish a “spoiler” in one of my reviews, and I’m not about to make an exception within this review. If I gave you my reason, then you may not wish to read it due to the “spoiler”.
That said. Do I believe you, as a reader of books within the “Mystery, Thriller, and Suspense” genre, will enjoy this book? Yes, I do. If I did not, then I would not be recommending it to you.
The author’s writing is crisp, and the editing, as always is superb with no typos, or other errors to make reading it a challenge. That alone, to me rates 3 Stars. The plotline superb, and the story well told gives it another star. The only thing keeping it from 5 Star rating is, to me, a “spoiler”.
If you are reading this, you also need to know that I am an Advanced Copy Reader, and as such I received a “FREE” copy of this book, “Double Barrel” from the author in exchange for agreeing to write, and post an “HONEST” review, I was neither offered nor did I accept any other consideration to influence my review. This is an HONEST Review.”
I am DEFFINITELY looking forward to book #14. Hopefully following soon. Thank you, Mike Ryan, for the read,
Great thriller but familiar, so it falls short of what it could've been
This story was disappointing in that it felt like a repeat of a couple of previous stories woven together. The new adversary from the Silencer's past was a great part of the story, but the author could've taken it a different direction to make it fresh and original. I would've liked several changes by this time for as long as the Silencer Team have been in business such as new weapons, gear and tools, new technology for the professor, new supporting characters and other elements to make it happen. I do not believe the author takes it far enough in this story as previous ones that readers have grown accustomed to. Seeing Mia in danger in multiple stories is getting old fast. I hope the next story that it'll be less predictable and repetitive.
Even though the men and women who fight the hard battles and do it to protect and serve, you gotta know that the continuous battles against the evil forces could break down even the most hardened operative. For Recker, Haley and Jimmy this is their daily reality. Though this is fiction, it isn't too far from real for a large section of the population whose job is to stand in the gap between good and evil. To be able to steadfastly stand against the onslaught of such demons takes true grit. The baddies that think they can get their way show the need for the Silencers, both in fiction and in life. Really great storytelling, characters and scenarios.
Just when it seemed things might settle down, another new threat appears targetting Recker, and putting Mia in harms way - another enemy linked to one previously disposed off. As always, the pace is fast and furious with the usual constant action. A hint of possible future problems in the ending.J
This part of the series just gets better and better. Mike and Mia's relationship is strong. But his line of work makes it difficult to predict their future.
Nothing fancy, just nonstop action as a new gang war breaks out, with The Silencer and Mia caught in the crossfire. Recker will destroy any threat to his beloved. Let the bullets fly.
