Reginald McColl is on a quest to right a centuries-old wrong. What he didn't expect to find is a compelling woman who can see the man beneath his mantle of shame.
Lauren Bradford only intended to be in Scotland a few days. But a rescue by a handsome highlander makes her question her choices, her beliefs, and her future.
Jo Jones lives in the red-rock area of southern Utah. Her roots go deep into the red soil of cattle country, tended by four generations of ranchers.
She also keeps a tight hold on the ancestral string of her Scottish heritage and keeps a piece of her heart in the Highlands.
With a lifetime love for reading, and writing, she has a soft spot for richly detailed historical novels with characters who draw their strength and purpose from the land and their environment. And of course, each other.
The Mystery, Heartbreak, and Redemption of Reginald McColl
What a perfectly wonderful story. Expertly written and very descriptive. A magnificent find. Full of tender and heartwarming emotions centuries in the making. Follow the life, death, and resurrection of the latest resident of Culloden Moor, as he tries to solve the mystery that brought his family shame and dishonor, as an accident brings a revelation of the truth that occurred 300 years ago to light. A truly magnificent story. Highly recommended.
This is one of my favorite books in the series so far. McColl decides that the first thing he needs to do is return to his home and clear the name of his Uncle Fergus who was accused of stealing the treasures gathered up by the Jacobites to help fund the Culloden battle. My only complaint is that I found the story to be somewhat predictable asI figured out the ending about a fourth of the way through the book.
This is a keeper, one to read again. I loved this story. Reginald left Wickham's ranch to walk from Cullodin back to the Glen where he was raised. He had promised his parents he would return and he meant to keep his promise. Along the way, he found the love of his life and then he found he could give up his quest to right a long past wrong that hurt his family name and reputation.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. The man Reginald is now that he isn't a Ghost is so worthy of the Love 💘 he had for Lauren and she for him. The mystery and genealogy angle was well done. Drew was so worthy of his friendship and vice-versa. When did I realize it was 5 stars? When I shed tears at the truth coming out at the end. Tears always mean a great story to me.
I have to say that this is my favorite story so far. To have one of the ghists of Culloden find an entire family and on his ancestral home, plus clear up a 300 yr. old mystery, clear ancestors' name and find happily ever after was a love story to beat the rest! I loved this story!
This was an extremely touching story. All Reginald wanted, after being released from death at Culloden Moor, was to find what really happened to his uncle, and the valuable things they say he stole. Finding the truth meant everything to him.
I adored this book. Reginald McColl's story is well written, you forget time and I did read through the night. Mysteries abound- love's mystery solved is the best of all.
It's amazing as we continue with the series that the stories always seem fresh and new. It's wonderful story tellers that have kept this series going. Thank you for another heart warming read.
I too fell in love with Reginald McColl. I love all of the 79 but this story hit home in my heart. It was a full rounded love story. The man finds the love of a family, a wife and a friend. Oh I loved it.
I love Jo Jones’ ghosts in this series. They are so real and believable that you want to have them in your family. The love story unfolded in a realistic way and makes you believe in happy ever afters do happen.
I liked the relationship between Reginald and Lauren. I especially liked the characters Aunt Phoebe and Drew. These are people you would really want to know. It was a great story and a wonderful addition to the series.
This book is a wonderfully told tale of finding true love, loyal friends, and family with a mystery all cleverly woven together. An excellent addition to the Ghosts of Culloden Moor.
Sometimes all you need to be happy is home. And here Reginald thought it was just a place. Lauren thought she was just helping her aunt but didn’t know she’d fulfill her dreams. Another great read by Jo Jones. The Ghosties can’t disappoint!
Wonderful book! The characters became my friends. There were a couple of great surprise turns. The writing is so clear and descriptive this story unfolded before my eyes. I wanted to become Lauren! This book goes to the top of my favorites.
Excellent, excellent book. A true page turner. Loved the sentimentality & the intrigue. Truly beautiful romance with family love. It thoroughly enjoyed every minute of reading.
This line in the story sums it all up nicely. "they’d both been trying to find home, and in the process found each other.". This was so romantic with a bit of mystery thrown in. Wonderful book.
If all the other books in this series that I have read, this was one of my favorites. Reginald was true to himself and his history. I liked all the characters in Lauren's family, and the entire story was well written.
Out of every single one of these fabulous books, this one was by far my favorite! I laughed and cried. Fantastic writing and characters. I only wish it wouldn't end.
What a great story. Loved Reggie and Lauren and really all the characters. Very well written. Enjoyed the journey. Cannot wait for the next ghost from this author.
Reggie’s story was very well done. I could imagine being in the glen and would like to visit there. The characters were likable and intelligent. Very sweet and swoon worthy.
