I am so relieved that I decided to look over the Goodreads updates and saw that Kristen Middleton added her latest book of the Night Roamers trilogy. As I've stated in the past, I have felt a little fatigued when it came to vampires so when I saw this book come up on the feed, I went back and revisited my review on the first book, Blur. I re-read the last chapter of that book to refamiliarize myself with the characters, and then proceeded to buy the next book, Shiver. Needless to say, similar to the bloodythirst felt by practically all of the characters, I devoured that book until there was no longer life in it...or um...pages left.

We start off a short period after where we left off. The protagonist, Nikki, is done with the whole vampire thing and frustrated since everyone's memories have been wiped clean but hers. Her mom continues to date the town sheriff, who is also the head vampire intent on turning her into one. Her brother thinks she's delusional as he pursues Celeste. Duncan can't even look at Nikki. And now two dead girls turn up murdered.

Each scene in this book is fast. No one is safe and that's what makes the series so refreshing. It doesn't cling to clichés but leaves the reader completely unable to put the book down because things are happening so fast and one honestly has NO idea where the story is going.

With respect to the textual errors, there were a few but in all honesty, I couldn't have cared less as I was too enthralled by the story. I absolutely cannot wait until the third and final book comes out - please come earlier than May. With that said, I'm thankful that I can read Middleton's other novels in the meantime as I am now an official believer.

Part two of the Roamer series picked up in a slightly different place than where the last one finished. I quickly caught up to my favorite characters and was, as usual, thoroughly engrossed in the story. This time around, after much convincing, both Nathan and Anne now believe in vampires. Ethan's "friend" Faye is raising all kinds of h-e-double hockey sticks and Nikki is again torn by her love for both Duncan and Ethan. I cannot wait for the end, so I can finally see who she picks. I know I would be totally torn between the two! As always, Kristen Middleton does not disappoint. There WERE many grammatical errors, and one line towards the end where a sentence was completely cut off, but as she states at the end in an apology for grammatical errors, she is stuck editing and proofreading her own work at this time, and i for one am more than willing to overlook such an insignificant thing. I get what she means and the story flows well regardless. Five stars once again for a fantastic book.

This was the second book in the series and I believe I liked it better than the first. There was more twists and turns in this story than the first. Like in the first book, I think the characters' emotions needed a little more development but other than that I enjoyed it.

Wow...

The whole point of this book was one girl trying to decide if she wanted to sleep with a vampire or not. One point she was saying she was not going to sleep with him because he was evil... and than she slept with him.

Nikki did not understand why her family did not believe her about the vampires. Her family thought she was crazy, so instead of not talking about vampires she yelled that she was not crazy.

And the mom. What a terrible mother. She basically said she did not care that her daughter was scared and going through things. She had a boyfriend now and was happy for once. You would think that with the daughter having an abusive father she would understand that if her daughter was scared of a man that she should be caring about it and not blow her off.

People were dead and then not dead. The back and forth of Ethan being evil and than not evil was done way to much. The plot line was completely predictable and not to interesting.

Since I own the third I might read it. We will see.

Shiver was even better then Blur. I don't have a favorite character, I love them all. Duncan is cute and seems sweet, where Ethan is HOT and a control freak. As someone that didn't read very much unless I had to...I am glad I came across this series. It is an addiction, I can't get enough and just want more. I flew through this book in just two days, that is how much I loved it. I would love for this to be a movie!
Now I need to read book 3 before I go crazy trying to know what has happened next.

Mixed feelings.

I had very mixed feeling on this book.

Things I liked:
-The vampires or roamers are a little different from 'traditional' vamps.
-the idea of the story.

Things I DID NOT like:
-the main characters are all stupid fools. Making stupid mistakes and not learning from them
- the main bad guy or in this case girl, has a boring reason for killing girls. She's a jealous *itch so she kills girls that look a little like her boy toys old love.
- you're not aware of the bad character till the start of this book even though the storyline started in the first book.
-the love doesn't feel real. I'm talking about the love between any and all of the characters.
- she gives away her virginity away because she finds out her other love interest had s*x with Celeste.
-both Duncan and Nikki experience s*x while they are not aware.( not together )

I still gave it two stars because I can see why people would enjoy it. Especially young adults. Hopefully they are smart enough to make smart choices.

Won't recommend because of the virginity scene, and because they have s*x while she's not aware. Not cool.

I was actually debating whether to give this two stars, but the writing was decent enough to warrant at least a median meh. There are quite a few red flag characteristics between the main people. So much so, that literally all of the 'love' couples feel fake and forced. Not to mention there are some inconsistencies in the plot with the first book. Celeste, for example, was said to have been made a vampire by her father to save her from Typhoid. Later on she says it takes three sexual encounters with a vampire biting to turn someone. The minute I read that part of the plot the ick factor was immediate. If the reader's following along with the plot, then Caleb slept with his daughter three times to "save her life." I mean wtf?! That's messed up.

Not sure how I feel about this book. Throughout the first and the second, there’s no way of knowing what is true and what is a lie. Too many good people die which I’m not a fan of and after a while the twists and turns are overwhelming. I like a good plot twist but this felt like it was every chapter. I do like the characters- especially Nikki and and Nate but the continuous questioning of whether Nikki likes Duncan or Ethan kind of gets on my nerves as does their consistent fighting over her. All in all, not my favorite vampire novel but I also didn’t hate it

I'd probably stretch to 3.5 stars if I'm honest, this book had a better pace and developed the characters more than the first book. More twists and turns along the way and yeah there were times when I seriously wanted to bitch slap Nikki, she can be extremely annoying at times.
I will be reading the next book in the series.

"Shiver (Night Roamers, #2)" by Kristen Middleton is a disappointment. The plot lacks depth and originality, feeling like a rehashed version of the first book. The characters remain one-dimensional, with unconvincing developments in their relationships. Middleton's writing style lacks sophistication, making the story difficult to engage with. The pacing is inconsistent, with long stretches of boredom followed by rushed, unresolved conflicts. The paranormal elements are underdeveloped, leaving readers unsatisfied. Overall, "Shiver" fails to live up to its potential and leaves much to be desired. It's a one-star read that struggles to hold the reader's interest.

"Shiver" is another brest brest in the Night Roamers series. I must confess this will be a difficult book for me to review because it is hard to discuss without revealing spoilers. However, I will try.

The book begin 3 months after the first book ends. Summer is about over and kids are about to head off for school. Nikki has had a difficult time because Celab has brainwashed her family and Duncan not to remember vampires exist. Duncan has avoided Nikki since her betrayal with Ethan.

Just when it seems her world cannot get any worse, her family believes her father, the abused may have found them. Also, more girls are found dead and a new club in town seems to be all the rage with underage kids. Nikki's mom is looking unhealthly and has lost weight. Are Caleb's claims true that she has cancer?

Before Nikki can do anything about the things threatening her sanity and her world she and the others must come to grips with vampires or roamers may not be the only supernatural creatures in Shore Lake.

I enjoyed this installments even more than the first because there were so many twists and turns at every corner. You are never sure just who to trust or who really is the bad guy. I for one love a book that keeps me on my toes. "Shiver" is this type of book. Read the series for yourself and decide. This book picks up where the last one left off, Ethan is gone, or is he, Nikki is continuing on with her life but struggling with the fact that Nathan and Duncan can't remember the truth about what happened, due to his lack of accurate memory Duncan can't forgive Nikki for what he saw and is hanging out with Celeste, as is Nathan. Anne is still dating Caleb but looks to be wasting away, and so the story continues.

I enjoyed this book and would give three and half stars if I could the reason I've given this book less than the last one is that certain things I felt were overdone and the obvious was sometimes ignored, the fact that a shape shifter was involved but no one seemed to consider that any shape shifting could actually have taken place was annoying and I felt this should have been picked up at the beta reading stage. This said it's a good series and I'm waiting for the next one.

This book wasn't as good as the first one but that does not mean that I did not enjoy it.

It starts off with Nikki trying to forget about what happened last summer and just get through each normal day without thinking of Vampires/Roamers. Ethan was banned from Shore Lake last book so Nikki sort of still misses him but is slowly getting over him. That is until he comes back. But is it the real Ethan? There is someone impersonating him and causing a lot of trouble/murders in Shore Lake and Nikki needs to get to the bottom of it. Nikki and Duncan broke up last book and they obviously still have feelings for each other. Those feelings grow when Duncan suddenly disappears after a car accident that he and Nikki had after being attacked. I won't say anymore but this book was pretty good and I can't wait to read the next one!

Firstly, #TeamEthan ! Duncan is super annoying and clingy to Nikki. He needs to adapt to the fact that Nikki loves Ethan. He never believes what a genuinely kind hearted, and vulnerable person Ethan can be, and that sucks.

I love the plot of this book even more than I liked Blur's plot. This book is definitely the way to go if you were hooked on Blur. There is a psycho in town, and many more action scenes. The action scenes are very vivid too. The only con of this book for me is the use of Cliché simile's and descriptive phrases. I have a tendency to go into English major/editor mode when I read, and this book was annoying in terms of its detail, dialogue tags, and description. If you're like me in this sense, I suggest you build a tolerance for those things before you read Shiver. Overall, this was a captivating read.
