One positively interesting thing I found within the book talked about spiritual bypassing. That's doing spiritual practice without addressing the actual issues and how this doesn't facilitate healing. A contemplative lifestyle is not a substitute for psychological support. This was something I contemplated on and now watch out for.

While this book was packed full of positivity, much beauty (my oh my the beauty of the little pages was incredible), affirmations, and wisdom, it wasn't exactly what I was looking for on my healing journey at this moment. This little book of healing contains material to be reflected and contemplated on.

Each day you flip to the day's date and meditate or contemplate the reflection or affirmation given. There aren't nearly as many exercises or meditations to practice as I was expecting, it was mostly the author's reflections. It reminded me of a 365 day devotional on healing, not a daily meditation book. (I feel that the title is a tad misleading.) Just about every other day had a HUGE word I had no idea the meaning of and I'm not one who struggles with vocabulary. Unfortunately, the writing didn't jive with me. While there are great things to think about, and I LOVE a ton of the affirmations shared, I feel the author's years of advanced contemplative practice went right over my head.

Maybe this book would be great for the level of health others are at, but as someone trying to transcend beyond survival mode, I personally need more. It's hard for me to think and contemplate when my mind is in a dark place, I can definitely see me referring to this when I do have space to hold and can reflect in a healthy way.

I feel bad for saying this wasn't for me at this time, because like I said before, there's a ton of wisdom and great info in here, I'm just at a different stage in my life/healing journey at the moment. I'll pick this one back up when I'm a bit further along, it is really cute, I like the size of it, and the watercolor artwork is so jazzy. I'm a sucker for anything healing, the color pink, and watercolors!

If you are a big thinker or operate on the more logical side of life instead of the more emotional side, you may enjoy interacting with The Daily Meditation Book of Healing. I have a little bit more work to do before this book feels helpful to me. We must all do what works for us, we are all at different stages, and we must each go at our own pace, AND THAT IS OK!

Much gratitude to Rockridge Press the publisher, and Callisto Media for the early copy I received. I was under no obligation to write a review, my honest opinion is freely given.

This is a book of sayings, suggestions, meditations for every day of the year (including leap day). Some of them are very brief (April 22: I bring heartfelt joy into every moment, and I share this warmth with others.) while others are longer and invite you to actually do something positive, like finding something to laugh at. Some of them touch on the mystical, which may turn some people off, but I found them…interesting.

What I liked: I liked the ideas about forgiving yourself—and others, letting go of doubts and embracing positive thoughts. I even found the more mystical ones intriguing and thought-provoking. While some of the daily sayings may not be anything more than “I am enough as I am, and I am worthy of this life”, most are a paragraph that gives you things to think about and reflect upon.

What I didn’t like: I’d almost rather see this as a part of a journal workbook with each day’s reflection something to journal about. I believe it would be more useful as this. As it is, it’s just something like a calendar with sayings or things to reflect on. In fact, it would make a good “daily calendar”.

Recommendation: If you are just looking for sayings or guidance for a more hopeful outlook, this could be the book for you. But be aware of the mystical aspects – though some may see them as spiritual, depending on your belief system. It’s an interesting book, but I believe would be better suited as a daily calendar than a book.

This book has a short paragraph to read each day with positive affirmations, tools for navigating difficult emotions, and ways to cultivate an attitude of healing and kindness towards yourself.

I'm not sure how I like this book. Some of the ideas are really good, about forgiving yourself, allowing yourself to be imperfect, letting go of bitterness or doubt, and embracing wonderful affirmations and positive thoughts.
But then some weird stuff about "mystical awareness" will creep in. The author seems to think that we will magically gain wisdom from within ourselves if we just listen to our subconscious mind and heart. It's an odd philosophy, and doesn't seem realistic.

There are some really strange ideas in this book about "cosmic energy".
For example, this entry for May 31st....
"Rest in the realization that your indivisible presence is the miraculous embodiment of soulful intelligence, and let the mystery be. As long as you believe your spiritual presence is elsewhere, you will feel split into fragments that appear to be irreconcilable."

I like the normal, common-sense ideas about finding emotional healing, but the mystical cosmic stuff just sounds idiotic.

I really enjoy little books like this! Ones that you dip into each day, one at a time or in chunks, in order or randomly, to get a nugget to think about. Invariably I find something helpful and useful to me.

The Daily Meditation Book of Healing can be used by people of any faith or people without spiritual faith. Regardless of where you are or what you're going through, I guarantee that you will find entries that speak to you. The entries cover so many of our common experiences, emotions, fears and stressors. It helps reframe your thought processes towards positivity, strength, mindfulness, acceptance and joyousness. I found this book to be very uplifting, soothing and centering. It would make a great gift for anyone important in your life.

My sincere thanks to Callisto Media and RockRidgePress for sending me a copy of this book in hopes of a review (NOT REQUIRED) after I read it. This is an unbiased review, and my thoughts and opinions expressed here are my own. I'm so glad to have this book on my shelf!!

The Daily Meditation Book of Healing by Worthy Stokes is absolutely what I needed! Although already April, I went back and read the meditations from earlier in the year and will continue to read one each morning. Worthy Stokes experienced a traumatic vehicle accident when 34 and struggled as her body and mind were broken. Meditation aided in her healing.

As we are experiencing this pandemic, experiencing dramatic change, and finding a new norm, this book truly refreshes your mind and brings your thoughts and spirit into balance. I find myself worried and frustrated with the changes we are experiencing and this read brings your focus back and positive juices flowing throughout your mind, body, and spirit.

This book is trying too hard. There. I said it. I was really hoping this book would provide interesting thoughts for self-reflection, but every time I finished an entry I found myself thinking, “Okay, but what am I supposed to do with this so called meditation?” The language the author uses is unnecessary and makes me feel like I’m reading reflections from a star child. I stopped reading after the first section because I have better things to do with my time.

I have always practiced meditation and lead a prayerful life, so this book caught my eye. I really like the idea of daily meditation, rather than when the urge strikes me.

The daily prompts are short and the ease of the daily reading helps me to consider each subject that will promote healing and guidance.

The simple daily reflections are dated and are less than half a page each.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publishers.

Like any book of this nature, some were better than others. I enjoyed the shorter meditations but found the longer ones to be too wordy and intricate. I think for a meditation book, short and sweet is the way to go for me. I like having just one sentence or word to focus on daily. Not for me, but great for those looking for a little variety in their mediations.

I was a Dorm mom in a recovery center. The women didn't have a lot geared towards them, their experiences, feelings that are uniquely feminine. I bought a selection of books like this and this was a favorite. They felt it touched them more, offered good advice, and even empowerment.

I picked up this little book through my Kindle Unlimited subscription. 365 snippets of wisdom. Some are profound, some are just okay, most are in the middle, and I suspect you'll get out of it exactly what you need out of it ☺️
