Su Ming grew up dreaming about becoming a Berserker even though he knew that the chances of him becoming one were close to nil. One day, he found a strange piece of debris, and it allowed him to walk the path of becoming a Berserker. But would it be enough for Su Ming to become just another Berserker to protect those he cares about? Would he be satisfied with leaving everything in fate's hands? *This novel was originally named Beseech the Devil, but due to the author's wishes, it was changed to Pursuit of the Truth

This series pretty much gets crazier and crazier with every volume. The mysteries here are ridiculously deep. There’s this continuous feeling of what you see being the tip of an iceberg while the real depth will be exposed later - so there’s the “promise”. But then the author reveals the mysteries in a very satisfying fashion as the novel goes on. The other really great thing is - the mysteries that are revealed make the world feel really rich - eg, we progressively learn about Su Ming’s background and as it happens the events feel both well interconnected and thought out in advance (I have no idea how the author is able to do it, frankly). These books are usually at the scope of a series like The Wheel of Time - with the crazy world building and the lore the author creates. The other amazing thing is that the author is connecting all of his series together. While the connections are not very important to enjoy the story, they shed more light on the world itself and its lore.
My one pet peeve with this series is that the translation is not at Deathblade’s level. It’s not badly done or anything, but I usually have higher demands from prose than other ppl I know and Deathblade was able to deliver there. It’s still workable though.
Short review, as it is only book/arc 3 of 7. Overall, the book is slowly picking up. Throughout the first 2 books, there were a lot of moments that almost made me want to stop reading but then there would always be a chapter or two that hooked me to continue. Book 3 is different in the fact, that the quality of the writing and consistency is improved and holds throughout the entire book. Excited to start book 4.
