A wealthy bachelor gets a second chance at love when fate reunites him with the woman he let slip away. The Billionaire’s Second Chance follows Duke Benton the last eligible Benton brother as he confronts regrets from his past and tries to hold onto the woman he once lost. The book is part of Kimberly Krey’s Benton Brothers series. Krey writes in a clean, inspirational contemporary-romance vein: the plot is anchored in family dynamics, personal growth, and the slow rebuilding of trust rather than high melodrama.

Moving beyond the premise, the novel’s real strength is its focus on character repair. Duke’s attempt to right past mistakes feels deliberate and emotionally credible, and the heroine’s guarded openness is handled with sensitivity. The pacing is steady: scenes alternate between intimate, quiet moments that deepen the emotional core and family-driven conflicts that test the couple’s resolve. I appreciated Krey’s restraint; she trusts the reader with subtle emotional beats instead of flashier plot contrivances. A small caveat is that readers seeking edgy tension or complex plot twists may find the story gentle and comfortably familiar, but if you favor heartfelt character arcs and hopeful resolutions, this book offers that in spades. I give it four stars for authentic character work, warm family texture, and a satisfying, faith-friendly romance; it loses a star only because its comfort-zone tone won’t satisfy readers who want grittier conflict or more narrative surprises.

Swoony Second Chance!

My Review: 5 Stars

Krey does a great job of forming a heartwarming attachment between two broken characters, bringing them to life with electricity, attraction, and depth.

I was very fortunate to enjoy a vacation in Costa Rica about a month before COVID-19 shut the world down and a part of this book takes place there. Duke has another chance to win over his college sweetheart and what better place to get the sparks ignited than in this tropical location, which I could vividly picture.

I loved that these lovable characters, Duke and Vivi, have a past that they are able to build upon with a palpable connection. I enjoyed the appearances of previous characters and the twist at the end was fantastic. I love how these stories tie together, but can also stand alone. Each one is solid, but together, they're a satisfying tapestry of emotion, loyalty, and love.

Content: mild+ romance (some innuendo, swoony kissing)

This fourth Benton Brothers book made me want to get caught in the rain on a stormy afternoon! I was excited to finally read Duke’s story and learn about Vivi, the one who got away. Kimberly Krey did a great job of capturing the tension of their back-story while developing a new, chemistry-filled romance for them in beautiful Costa Rica. (Picture dreamy kisses on moonlit strolls and candlelit dinners by the pool.)

Even though ten years have passed since their college relationship, the couple discover they’ve never truly fallen out of love. Duke and Vivi have to navigate some tough challenges that test their relationship, but like all great love stories they find their way through.

I enjoyed appearances of some of the other characters from past books, as well as a surprise plot twist in the end that I did not see coming! I can’t wait to read more about that in what appears to be an upcoming book five.

I have been fascinated with this series by Kimberly Krey. In this instance, which is book four in the five-book series, I have now finished reading the series. Let me reaffirm comments from previous reviews of books in this series: Each book in the series can be read as a stand-alone work, but I find that your reading pleasure will be increased by reading the books within the series in sequence. The Benton family is a bit unusual from the standpoint that, even though every member of the family is a billionaire, they are down to earth, everyday type people. I was impressed by how the author kept me glued to my iPad as each development in the story evolved. Ms. Krey does an outstanding job of keeping the reader involved in the story until the very last page. I highly recommend this offering by Kimberly Krey as well as any novel in her body of work.

4.5, rounding up
It's a new book by Kimberly Krey!! And guess what? It's a good one! Second chance stories are so fun.

These Benton brothers are something else. After the last book where Duke's twin brother poses as him and ends up getting the girl, I knew Duke's story would be a good one. Vivi is the one that got away and Duke has always regretted it. As he should because Viv is smart, compassionate and beautiful. She also has more to protect now than she did ten years ago so Duke has his work cut out for him.

I genuinely liked these characters so it was easy to fall into their story. As per usual, Kimberly Krey delivers some yummy kissing and some zingy attraction. Plus, Costa Rica! I really want to go there.

Even though this is book four in this series, each book can easily stand alone. You will probably be happier if you read these books in order as this family of characters show up in each book. This series is on KU if you have that.

Breathtaking

Kimberly Krey is an experienced writer with a big heart ❤️ who values family, love and integrity. She has told a story of two complex people who appear to have it all but are covering up major flaws of which they are not yet aware.

This story will touch and challenge your heart and mind.

(4.5 stars) - Discovering Verita (Truth)

There are tons of billionaire romances available, but so many of them don't really make use of the wealth aspect as a significant part of the story. The Benton Brothers series is one of those that has total fun with it.

Book 4 of the series is Duke's story, and it's a delightful 2nd chance romance. We get the opportunity to better understand what motivates him & where he's coming from, while he reconnects with the woman who ruined him for all other women, as she turns out to be the person doing a major magazine write up on him (to the surprise of both of them, lol)

The two of them directly & indirectly end up working thru what happened. Of course there are complications, but the resolution is quite satisfying. Honestly, I wasn't that interested in Duke's story prior to this, but it's turned out to be one of my favorites!

*Clean romance level: passionate kisses, nothing graphic

Beautiful Billionaire Romance

What if you were given a chance to right a wrong? What if it happened 10 years ago? Would you take it? Vivi has a chance to interview Duke Benton. He wronged her 10 years ago. She's no longer in college and is a single mother of twins. Should she take the job and write the truth? Can she be unbiased? Duke would like another chance with the beautiful lady he wronged? Will he get the chance? Will they be able to overcome the obstacles of a relationship? Would they even want to? Find out in this wonderful clean romance with plenty of surprising twists and lots of chemistry. Happy Reading!

Sweet Romance

I love a good story of Redemption where he doesn’t completely screw things up! I was a little worried when the timing was just a year off, but once I knew that Duke wasn’t the Dad, I was pretty happy about him getting his second chance. He was never really a bad guy, just a misled guy. And getting rid of the man bun was a huge plus, in my opinion. Hurray for a guy willing to take on two boys that aren’t his and hurray for their hard working single mom! The end surprised me, but it was fabulous!

I enjoyed this second chance romance; Duke has made many bad choices in life and has earned a bad boy reputation. To clear up his rep, his PR agent schedules an interview with the top background check journalist Verita, meaning truth. When they meet, he comes face to face with the girl that got away! Vivi. What will happen?
I really enjoyed this story with the well-developed characters and the new character introduced. I look forward to the next book.

Love

This book shows the beauty of love and redemption. It also includes how a mother will do anything to protect her children. However, it shows us how love is our greatest gift to both give and receive

The Billionaire's Second Chance

Vivi was a Stanford alumni and met Duke Benton while attending university. The two had a love affair that lasted almost a year when Duke was awarded an award his father and grandfather had received years before. When time came for the Gala and award ceremony Duke made the mistake and took another girl to the Dance. Vivi broke up with him until ten years later when she was asked to do an article on his life. This was a great book to read and shows how media can make a mockery of the truth. This is my review and mine alone. Norma Gorrill

The Benton family is said to be old money, famous and well connected, I didn’t see it. Why would Duke have to do an interview to clear his name? Why did they choose Slipper Magazine? In a previous book (#2 Her Best Friend Fake Fiancé) the editor-in-chief’s daughter wrote an article slandering his sister Betzy, now an independent writer will conduct the interview. What happened to Daisy Shay?
Vivia Tripoli publishes by the name of Verita to keep her family especially her twin boys out of the public eye. She should know to make sure that no personal pictures are on social networks and advise her parents as well. As a jounalist she should be well aware what kind of information can be gained that way, so the complications later in the story are her fault as well.
Once again there is a mean socialite, here Sylvia Sampson, trying to rope in a Benton brother and when thwarted she publicly slanders his love interest. And again we hear nothing of any consequences.
Apparently they live in LA and have attended Stanford college: why does the Stanford alumni gala take place in LA and not in Stanford or San Francisco?
The last chapter ends with an earth shattering revelation that didn’t make sense:

🎶 Young love, first love, filled with true devotion 🎶 … at least that’s how the song goes. But young love gone wrong can fill a life full of loneliness and insecurities. Vivi knows that first hand. Duke broke her heart when they were in college, something he’s always regretted. Now, ten years later, their paths cross again. Duke, so badly, wants a second chance. However, a lot has happened in those ten years and he realizes he can’t just go back, pick up the pieces and start over.

There’s more at stake now. More people in the picture. More than enough time for insecurities to build and flourish under the camouflage of career and family. Yes, Vivi is scared. The pain she suffered ten years ago lingers making it hard for her to trust, let alone love again.

But as the lyrics in Young Love says:

🎵They say for every boy and girl / There's just one love in this whole world / And I know I've found mine 🎵

….Vivi and Duke found that love when they were young. Now they have to let the song play out and find their way back to each other. It won’t be easy, but is it ever?

This is my second read of Kimberly Krey (and first book of this series - yes I am reading this as a standalone) and I must say this might not be a favorite of mine out of the two. Firstly, I really wished there was a proper blurb here on GoodReads, I was quite lost on what I was expecting so yeah partly I dove into the book blindly. Even the comments section didn't prepare me for what I might be expecting. I didn't expect this to be a single-mom, second-chance romance and for some reason I was really wishing it to be a secret baby trope though I am personally not a fan of any MC hiding anything that important. I also disagreed with the way "introducing boyfriend to kids" part was handled. The FMC could and should take her time and do what is right by her for the kids. I didn't see anything wrong in her thinking at all.

Overall, the book was okay but personally would not give a re-read.

Since the blurb is missing, I can at least try providing with the tropes you can expect - billionaire romance, second chances, highschool sweethearts, opposite worlds, single mom romance.

Everyone deserves a second chance especially Duke.

This is a wonderful series. I enjoyed this story especially as the scenery and all the fun activities were described so vividly when Duke and Vivia went to Costa Rica for a photo shoot for a magazine. Duke is hoping for a second chance with Vivia, his exgirlfriend from their college days after he broke her heart. It's now or never, does he stand a chance?

Surprise

Duke gets his story. He is looking to repair his image and he gets his second chance with the girl he dumped back his freshman year of college.

Can they make the second time stick. Read and find out.

A very happy ending

Although early on I was somewhat confused if the two would come together . The many scary wrong turns, that have a way of happening in all of our lives gladly ended up in their favor

An enjoyable story

This story was so much fun and enjoyable to read. This whole series has been about the family siblings but yet each one has been different. I have had a problem choosing just one to be my favorite.

Clean, good story

Kat didn't trust her fraud detection skills in people. She was sure the scientific method would find a much better, life-long match for her.
