Grace Hamilton is the prepper pen-name for a bad-ass, survivalist momma-bear of four kids, and wife to a wonderful husband. After being stuck in a mountain cabin for six days following a flash flood, she decided she never wanted to feel so powerless or have to send her kids to bed hungry again. Now she lives the prepper lifestyle and knows that if SHTF or TEOTWAWKI happens, she’ll be ready to help protect and provide for her family.
Combine this survivalist mentality with a vivid imagination (as well as a slightly unhealthy day dreaming habit) and you get a prepper fiction author. Grace spends her days thinking about the worst possible survival situations that a person could be thrown into, then throwing her characters into these nightmares while trying to figure out "What SHOULD you do in this situation?"
It’s her wish that through her characters, you will get to experience what life will be like and essentially learn from their mistakes and experiences.
Grace Hamilton is fast becoming THE apocalypse author for me. So far nothing I’ve read by her is worth less than five stars. Final End is another piece of apocalypse perfection and is so emotive. Not just the sadness but also the humour, romance and joys that are woven throughout the story. I loved Josh, Maxine and their children, Storm and Tally, but my most favourite character was Poppet. What an amazing woman! And the vote for the worst, nastiest, bad, bad guy has to go to Gabriel Angel. If you ask how evil is real evil, check out this guy! And there is so much action and double crossing it’ll leave you breathless. I loved this ending to the series!
This is the fourth and final book in the Supernova EMP series and continues to follow the Standing family members as they try to survive the events following the Bernard Star Supernova and its EMP effects. The last book left the family and some of their fellow survivors being captured by the person known as the Harbourmaster, who is in fact someone from both Maxine and Josh’s past. Someone who believes they have a close connection to Storm and will do anything to create his own kingdom and expand his base of power. The Standing’s group includes both of their children, Storm and Tally, as well as Maxine’s dad Donald, the doctor Larry, Poppet the gangster’s moll, Henry the prepper, Halley the mad scientist who predicted all of this and his sister Grace, who has gone mad from the supernova. It is a great mix of characters and each brings something different to the story.
Josh is now at gunpoint, facing his son who has been taken from him and easily been led astray by the Harbourmaster and has allowed his mind to be swayed by his hatred of Josh for deserting him and his mother at his time of need. Whether Josh will make it out of this latest dire situation is going to be a close call and need almost a miracle to occur. Maxine just wants both of her children back and safe, but nothing is simple nowadays. Neither Josh nor Maxine are guaranteed to be able to save both of their children from this tyrant’s palace. It will take a massive battle to get their family and friends to safety. Scientist Halley just wants people to listen to him about a cure for the madness and his ability to get electrical items working again with his faraday cage system. But people’s very survival is more important at the moment and he can’t be the only clever person or scientist to have survived!
The group are severely outnumbered by the Harbourmaster’s minions and there is no safe haven nearby, as his influence has grown widely since the supernova struck. A former foe will provide an act of mercy, but also return to madness all at an important time for all. A huge storm is coming and this will push both parties to have to fight for their own beliefs and those of their followers. The Sea Hawk and the original cast of teenage delinquents will now have a part to play in the very survival of them all. This series has it all, a supernova causing worldwide EMP strike and dark matter making people go mad and turn towards the darkest side of their personalities; long and dangerous treks to reach family, supplies and to rescue those who matter; young love and marriage woes; psychopaths taking power over weaker individuals; and a world that has changed beyond anything anyone could ever have imagined!
I’m sad to see the series has come to an end, but there has been plenty of action in this last book, far more than I even expected, as members of the group must first escape impossible odds, rescue missing people, battle against the Harbourmaster’s thugs and a hurricane targeting the coast. All in a matter of days. The odds are heavily against them and Bernard’s Star is still affecting them all in one way or another, whether they realise it or not. A fantastic series that has been full of disaster, love, evil, perseverance and so much more. Henry is one of my favourite characters and he really came into himself in this final book and is proving to all the sort of man he is becoming! Lots of action and impossible situations, but there will always be a way through, but not always for everyone. Sacrifices have to be made and the ultimate sacrifice may bring them all closer together in the end.
If you have read any of this author’s books, then you know this is not one to miss. If you like any sort of post-apocalyptic tales or fancy a bit of prepper life, then you should definitely read this book and this series. The author is an expert at this genre! This is the most intense book of the series and I would definitely recommend it to one and all. I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.
I received this book via a promo code and this is my voluntary review. This is the final book in the Supernova EMP series and follows the surviving Standing family as they try to find safety following the attack on the family farm when the the Bernard Star Supernova and its EMP effects knocked out the power and turned most people on Earth into mind-altered crazies. Luckily Josh has found one of the few scientists left with the knowledge to help them counter most of the darker effects.. if they could get away from Maxine's psychotic Ex boyfriend and his Harbourmen to live long enough to test his theories. From storming castles, storm chases across the sea and carving out their own private island base of operations, Maxine, Tally, Storm and Josh have come to an unsteady understanding after the truth of Maxine's encounter of with the Harbourmaster was finally revealed in Book 2 & 3 caused so many problems. Ultimately our Standing family are left doing exactly that after all the twists and turns despite the loss of so many allies. Grace Hamilton has become one of my favorite authors and Matt Weight did a fantastic job with the narration.
A family split apart by a thousand miles or more when a super nova hits earth and not only knocks out electronic devices, but steaks havoc on the human mind driving some so crazy they kill because they just do, and others are more rational and just trying to survive. The too much part comes into play because the main characters are the Standing family which already had relationship problems, a son getting last cancer treatments, and then having to all right and fend for themselves while trying to make it to Maxine's parent's farm in West Virginia. Maxine and son, Storm are in Boston while Josh and daughter, Tally are out in the Atlantic with a boat full of young probationers to whom Josh is responsible. If that isn't enough, Storm is not with Josh may not be his dad which takes Storm down another path for awhile. It just seemed too much! Just coming up with more and more to put into a story does not often make for a better story.
Young Storm continues to hold the focus in this final volume as a “blast from the past” surfaces to throw everyone into a tailspin. Aside from the untimely appearance and revealed identity, this bearer of bad news has even more tyrannical plans up his sleeve. Cornered, Maxine must divulge the secret she’s been guarding for many years. Josh is not immune from this turmoil. He and Storm are front and center in this incident, both have important decisions to make. As the old saying goes, not everyone can be saved. Capture, rescue, and escape. Loyalty, love, and family. Unexpected twists and turns, filled with consequence and emotion. This story touches on all the right points. A great story and a hearty recommendation. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
The characters are fantastic. Josh is still trying to find a way to get his family back together. He's come to the conclusion what there is only adapt to this new life or die. He wants to save everyone but sometimes things happen that prevent that from happening. Will they be able to face the storm bearing down on them? They have one shot to restore some order and ensure a future for tomorrow. Great series. Twists and Turns, drama, suspense. Love the series. I had thought that the last book Bitter End was the final book in the series so was happy when I saw this one pop up as I had not been satisfied with the ending of the other being the end of the story. This is a must read all books in order first to last series. If you are a fan of apocalyptic style this series would be for you. So far I have loved all of the ones I have read from this author. Filled with a roller coaster of emotions. Lots of twists and turns. Unexpected twists.

Exciting and fast paced action with a good storyline. Characters are intriguing with human flaws.
A few errors in the author’s story, in the first novel Storm was 22 but later novels he is 20.
Also, I am little disappointed the story ended with “and they lived happily ever after”. I see in my imagination several more novels expounding as they move forward rebuilding. More conflict is bound to occur, Gabe was not the only greedy, unscrupulous villain left in a world gone mad.
Everything about this series is above the rest. First it’s only four books, instead of 12 or 15 or. . . . The story is well told and pulls you in. There is an art to describing scenes and depicting emotions and I think Ms Hamilton does a great job at this. Yes there are gun battles and explosions and blood and all that, but there is also heroism and emotions and realistic, well-written human interactions. I liked it and I’m looking for more of Ms Hamilton’s stories.
I've read several books written by Grace Hamilton; she has done a great job at writing a good book; she is becoming one of my favorite authors. I can’t wait to read more of books her books.
The story line caught my attention at the very beginning and kept me interested throughout the entire book.
I loved the characters.

Final End is the final book in the Supernova EMP series and a definite page turner. I highly recommend you read the first three books to fully understand the journey the Standings have gone on. Great writing, unexpected twists, danger, suspense and well developed characters make this a great read. I am really enjoying this author's writing and I look forward to reading her next series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.
First Matt Weight did an excellent job narrating and he’s moved to my top 10! Anything Grace writes will blow you away. She will teach you things too. Her characters are real and alive. They feel like people you could know and be friends with. Do yourself a favor and pick up this series or any of her series. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Not her best work. Numerous errors and misspellings
I want to find out what happens but I could pass on the rest of the series except I remember many of her other books were very entertaining and interesting. I’m hoping she didn’t rush through the rest of the series like this last book.
An exciting 4th part to this new EMP series by Grace Hamilton! A read read! Grabbed me from the start & kept me up late reading! Like the characters, the plot & ideas! Always worth a read! I do recommend this writer!!
Yes did I love it but I kinda felt it was dashed to finish up for the end of the series. I believe it could of been another book to this instead of everything being smashed into this book. But I'm happy for the standings family members getting back to together and working everything out!
This is the final installment of this series. Although this is the fourth bop I found it to still have the physical and emotional tension of previous books. I was very satisfied with the ending to this book.
This last book was really good. There is so much that unfolds to bring the story to conclusion. The chapters flow quite well and there is so much action that you can't stop reading.
This story line kept me reading a lot more than I should have most days. Wow, it would have been good to see a follow up that would have the group getting back to Donald’s farm.
Good series, well written and the author has a good sense of the time line and being able to maintain the time line regardless of what is happening with each character.
Very well written. Nicely written piece about what can happen when dealing with apocalyptic climate changes. Some things that could happen when dealing with unexpected weather events. Very hard to put down once you start reading. Great series!
Fast paced and exciting...just when you think things are going to go ok, everything changes again and again. i love the world that was weaved with these characters and so much more!
Lots of twists and turns in this book as their fight for survival continues in this exciting post-apocalyptic series. Great characters with good dialogue and plenty of action.
The only beef I had with this series was the typos and the constant recapping of what had already happened. I liked all four books a lot, besides that.
This is a good series book. Last book is good and kept me reading but sometimes repetitive. Glad I read this book and will look for more from the author.
