Fifth book in the HC Heroes series, with a hero I loved. Strong, sexy, with a wonderful moral compass.

Love the Heroes Series
Dean is recovering from a horrendous wound while working at ESI. The helicopter he was in was shot down and he almost lost his arm. It's taken determination to get it healed enough to join a black ops group to honor one of his buddies who died in the crash. In the meantime the woman next door who owns the bakery has caught his eye. Loni is going blind but is determined to continue living her life as normal as possible. She's attracted to Dean but knows he will be leaving. This gives them both an opportunity to enjoy each other with no strings attached. Sounds great in theory but neither one realizes how strong their attachment will become. Love the characters and the storyline.

If you like tension, suspense and drama Dean was written for you. He is in Harland County helping out Mac and the team. It is just a stop gap while he rehabs. He has things to do. Promises to keep. That doesn't stop him for drooling over Loni, the baker, and her cinnamon rolls.
Loni Champion is a renowned baker. She has won numerous competitions on television. She owns a bakery with her twin sister, Lori. She is planning for a future that will be the biggest challenge of her life. And no one knows but her sister. This will definitely create awkward moments.
On paper Dean and Loni work well. A short time fling is perfect for them. No commitments. No complications. Everything is above board. Lots of sex and no emotions. What could go wrong? All the lovebirds from previous books know exactly what can go wrong. Add to that, troubles that Loni hasn't shared with anyone and you have a book filled with suspense, drama and a whole lot of sex.

Dean is the sixth book in the HC Heroes series and it is the story of Dean and Loni. Dean is only in Harland County for a short period of time. The former Seal has an injured arm that he needs PT to get it back to 100% before he can head to his next job. Loni is an award winning pastry chef, preparing for her final competition, that is until the hot new guy arrives in town. A recent diagnosis will put an end to Loni's passion and she so wants to win this last competition, but somebody doesn't want her to win. The protective side of Dean comes out, but will it be strong enough to make him stay.
This book is loaded with romance, passion, friends, fun and just enough angst to keep it interesting.

Dean was in a helicopter accident while serving. Now he is in Harland recovering and working at ESI until he regains use of his arm then off to D.C.
Loni has opened a bakery in Harland and her sister will be joining her soon. She really likes Dean but with her chances of going blind and being so busy, she has convinced herself she doesn't want a relationship.
Dean and Loni agree to have fun until he leaves. She is going to be in a baking challenge soon. She has received some threats but hasn't told anyone.
Dean gets the call to leave. While he is gone, she is threatened at the completion. Will he get there in time?

"Dean" (HC Heroes Book 6) by Donna Michaels is a terrific read. I loved Dean and Loni's story. This is a wonderful addition to the HC Heroes series. This story is packed with entertaining characters, romance, passion, action, military heroes, close friends, family, and more. I enjoyed catching up with the residents of Harland County again. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens next with this interesting cast of characters in the future. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, military, and series.

Five Stars
This is the romance of Loni and Dean. One rugged sexy ex-seal, and a sweetheart of a Baker with secrets. So well written that I fell into the pages, and didn't come up for air till I'd finished the book. I simply adored Dean. He was only supposed to be staying in Harland County temporarily, and Loni only wanted temporary in her life, and so their love affair began. With a few twists and turns, and a secret or two coming into play they finally found the HEA neither knew they were looking for. Fantastic read. Highly recommended 💘 🌹

Dean and Loni are a great couple and a wonderful addition to the Harland County Heroes series! Loni brought a sensitivity and a triumph of spirit while Dean added a measure of perseverance overcoming adversity. Neither want anything permanent, just a fling. But we all know how that works out… These two together are poetry. Plus there are a few little twists that I didn’t really expect. I love Ms. Michael’s writing and we visited with previous couples in this series which is something I really like. An excellent story!

What a great addition to this series!
I loved the whole book. It had suspense, mystery, laughter, banter, and sexy times. All my favs.
I adored Dean. He was a straight shooter from the get-go. He didn't want to start anything knowing he was leaving. Loni wasn't the type of love and leave. I really enjoyed his scenes with his buddy's. You could sense loyalty among them.
Loni was a wonderful character. She has some devastating news she was dealing with but wasn't letting it stop her or stop her dreams. I think we all could learn a little bit fro her.

Spell!
Dean: It's sad what the men go through when they serve their country! They love the challenges that they go through. It was a rough mission for Dean because of they young men that were lost on the crash and his need to follow what Troy wanted to but could because of being killed in the crash. Dean was trying so hard no to fall for Loni but he was enjoying being with her but didn't want to believe he was falling for her. It took all the guys to point out little thinks they all went through. Great surprises and challenges throughout. I really enjoyed it.

Fling turns into more
Loni has a lot going on in her life but she might have time for a fling with Dean before he leaves town. A no strings attached short arrangement is what they're both looking for. Everyone knows how those work out in this series. I think the ending came up really fast and was anticlimactic. It was good, but more details would have been better instead of fast forwarding to the end of the competition.

Bicycle built for two
Lori and Dean couldn't be more suited. Both had internal, living nightmares to deal with, career decisions to make, extreme senses of competition and strong loving hearts. Luckily their time together was only temporary. Yeah, right! The rest of Harland County knew the truth.

Against the odds
Loni and Dean have instant sprinkles/sparks, baker and a SEAL, odd combination but it works for them, both knowing it's a temporary romp in the frosting, a beautiful compassionate story with a happy ending and no more sprinkle bombs, thank you, Dana Zamora
