From my father’s failing drug business to the evil men he sold me to, I have seen the worst of humanity only to find safety in the arms of the greatest monster of all.
I call the Butcher of the Bay mine.
Betrayed by his oldest and most loyal friend, I was stolen away from him and have once again been sold at auction. Time is running out for my Monster to find me and his greatest allies are no where to be found.

2.5/5 ⭐ 3/5🔥 😭 This book was sort of unnecessary! First part of the book is getting her back and all and they finally have sex yay☺ (alot of it). And sort of that's it.
This book was more action-based and getting revenge. He promises her to give her all the hearts of men in a jar who hurt her in the past. He fulfills his promise like a gentlemen he is😏
TBH it was really good seeing the way she took her revenge and how he carved their hearts out. It was psychotic but perfect and fuck me if I didn't enjoyed it.😂
In the end he tattoos her name on his🍆😝 yeah.
Can't wait to start the hannaford prep series next!!
Pages: 256 My rating: 3 Read other books by this author in the future: yes MC: Johnny Illium aka The Butcher, Odette
It’s difficult to write a review without spoiling to much, so I write a bit more in spoiler tags, as there are spoilers in there. I would say this book is a butcher romance. That said I will only add, that it is not as dark as the first part. Odie grew on me a lot in this book.
Edit: while rereading the book I realised that Lips gets her emancipation after she teams up with Illi the second time. She leaves for Hannaford at that point. At the end of The Butcher of the Bay: Part two Lips is already through two years at Hannaford, that's when she and Harley are picked up by Jackal when they leave Hannaford for the summer break.
Unfortunately yet another duet where I found book 2 unnecessary
We begin where book 1 ended with the h kidnapped, Illi eventually finds her and she's able ti finally fight back and kill her attacker. The rest of the book is the h painting, copious use of the word fuck, them finally having sex(yay for her) and him killing eleventy billion people with no repercussions because I guess all the cops are dirty plus they burn houses to hide evidence 😒 3 stars because I actually love the idea of a man who loves his woman so much he'll kill her attackers and bring her their hearts( at least in fiction 😜)
I'll read more in this series as long as the Hs are this devoted
Lots of blood is shed No cheating Not a standalone
***Is it just me or wasn't the h described as French and could barely speak English?? I can't remember and it's irritated me throughout this book lol but I'm too lazy to go back to book 1 to check😂
The things Illi can do for odie ugh 😭, this book focused more on the revenge part where Illi kills Odie’s rapists. I love them so much, The chemistry between the two is amazing. Since it focused more on the revenge part it got a bit boring and there was just sex between Odie and Illi but i love these two anyways. They are so perfect together 😭.
I really loved both parts of this duet. In this part we really see Butcher and Oodie's relationship grow leaps and bounds. Oodie goes through a healing process and I have to say I fell in love with Butcher. How can I love a serial killer you ask? The way he loved Oodie down to his core and protected her in everyway was the most romantic thing that I've ever read. That and I really enjoyed him bathing in the blood of the people who hurt her. He told her he would bring her the hearts of the men who raped her and she woke up to the hearts in jars on her bedside table. Now if that doesn't make you swoon I don't know what will. ;) Head the trigger warnings because this one has some tough scenes and addresses really tough topics graphically. If you can get past those this is one of the best books that I've ever read.
Sadly I didn't enjoy this one as much as Part I. The big reason is both Odette's and Illi' chapters became extremely repetitive and I was mored interested in when Lips turned up, rather than their story. You can tell the author really enjoys Lips' as a character, however in this duet it needed to be toned down.
A fun duet that adds some fun little details to the Hannford Prep series. Now I might just have to go back and re-read them!
random thoughts: the good His devotion to the h, the way he treats her, it was well balanced with his dirty talk and possessive (almost aggressive) behavior in bed. The side characters are good, very define all add little bits that make the story more cohesive (the bikers, the kid) The h evolution is getting there but...
the not so good: That invincible cloak that the H is wearing! the guy killed a couple dozen guys (that knew he was coming) and so far he got away easy-peasy! The h giggling, sex starved side didn't let her evolution shine! Him tattooing her name in his d*ck! *cheesy* (i much like to see it on his chest or on his wedding band, better meaning!) The story dragged a bit... The book keeps referring Lips life out of the Bay, but since i'm not an fan of RH i'm not biting that bait!
Lead the way, mon Monster. I will always follow you.
This one picks up right where book one left off. It’s dark-ish, with ott murder and sex (finally)!
I think this author can write the heck out of chemistry, but the actual sex scenes read like porn which was a disappointment after LOVING their crazy non-sexual intimacy in book one.
Odette Illium Odette Archembault is no more. The name shed like the skin of the snake who sired her. Odette has been reborn in blood and flames, in pain and paint -a bloody beauty. In her place, Odette Illium rises. And Odette Illium will bring wicked men to their knees.
They sold her, assaulted her, and then they stole her from her home. They beat her, tried to break her, but they had no idea the monstre she had on her side; in her bed, and in her heart. No idea that Lips, le loup, taught her she need never feel powerless again. No idea that when Odette and the Butcher cried Havoc, the Harbinger and his brother would ride to war. The Jackal may send his regards, the Vulture may sell his skins, but The Butcher of the Bay will destroy everything to rescue Odette. And when he does, Illi, Odie, Lips, Harbin, Roxas and Colt will unite to carve out the hearts of those who dared touch the French Angel; it's time to pay for their sins.

This book was EVERYTHING. Everything.
I said once before that J Bree had written perfection when it came to Johnny "The Butcher" Illium and Odette "Odie" Archembault's origin story in BOTB1. In The Butcher of the Bay Part Two, it somehow gets even better.
Whether you choose to read the Hannaford Prep series first, or begin your journey with The Butcher of the Bay, you will be enthralled with the world from the moment you enter. Corruption, bloodshed, seedy underbellies and powerful players in places you'd never expect abound, and there is such an incredible rush to be found the second you open these books and step into the Bay. Just keep your eyes open because the threads you follow can either weave a pretty picture or a terrible trap.
The characters here are deep, dark, twisted and morally...ambiguous. The foreshadowing, storytelling and plotting - phenomenal. As in, I could die happy watching J Bree deftly weave intimations across story arcs, series and timelines. I'm absolutely mindblown at the details and clues she's had right in front of our eyes across six books, some of which I'm only just picking up on now.
The Butcher of the Bay: Part Two is nothing short of MASTERFUL. Much like our fierce French bombshell, I never want to leave The Bay.
Another dark addition to this universe, but so good. I don't know if I really needed a second book, but I loved reading about how Illi is willing to destroy the world for Odie and her love for him slowly grew as well. I mean, I don't know if I can call this a slow burn, but it felt like it. This book did seem to drag at times, but I am glad to have more to read about this couple.
This couple is great. I loved reading about this love for each other, even if is dark and twisted.
4.25✨ i love how this story came to an end. such a satisfying conclusion.
i loved everything about illi and odie’s love story and i think it was done absolute justice. the way illi lights up inside and out at the sight, thought, feel of his baby girl is just something else. and the way odie grew and got so strong and never cowered. the way she refused to be obedient and pliant like she was with her father all the time except for when she’s with illi was so special.
everything odie did in this was just so king. she was incredible and i loved seeing her character development. both in the way she changed and grew and in the way she kept some habits but how they kind of transformed. she was no longer stuck in her head but instead eternally confident and had so much faith in her man. i loved it.
again loved the growing relationship between illi and lips and i love how this ended as an opening into hannaford prep. i can’t wait to reread it now!
“You ever disrespect the Wolf like that to me again and I'll give you a whole new meaning of the word fucked, you hear me?"
“That fucking kid, one in a fucking million.”
“He loved me at my worst and most broken. I want to give him my best.”
“The woman was fucking made for me. Put on this Earth just for me to find and protect, teach and fuck and own. She’s mine for all of time the same way I’m now hers too.”
“To think that there are men out there who buy flowers for their beloved and hope that wins them their love. Mine brings me hearts.”
This one is much more character driven that plot driven and I loved that because we get to see so much of Odie’s character growth. I really enjoyed seeing her come into her own and make the conscious decision to work through and purge what had been done to her. Since there isn’t as much happening in this book it means that Illi and Odie get some downtime to really grow in their relationship, which I loved. I also enjoyed seeing how the ending of this book worked right into the beginning of Play the Game from the Hannaford Prep series. I always get a little thrill whenever I see little crossovers like that. Now, on to Angel Unseen!
After the cliffhanger of the first part of the Butcher's story I knew this story would be filled with vengeance and the inevitable passionate conclusion to Odie and Illi. J Bree did not disappoint she has delivered pure Gold. Illi is a pure work of art, she has created a character filled with so much passion, love, devotion and brutality that you can't help but fall in love with him yourself. His devotion to Odie is breathtaking, Odie herself is a strong woman who overcomes her past to bloom under the love of her Mon Monstre. I loved the snippets of Lips that we get and the Devil and this book just made me want to start the Hannaford Prep series all over again. I have no doubt that this will be a bestseller for J Bree and she deserves it. 5 stars from me and I cannot wait to see what she brings us next!
It’s a great story on its own - the French beauty and her monster - but having Lips’ backstory woven through it made it that richer. Highly recommended.
While I did like Odie and the butchers story, it just doesn’t live up to the hannaford series. It’s still a really good story, but idk, I guess I expected it to be sooo much more because of how much I love hannaford. I’m really hoping Queen Crow doesn’t let me down because I’m dying for that book to come out.
Ok I am not going to yell, really not gonna yell, I am not going to yell damn it but who the fuck I am kidding I am so gonna yell....... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Can't wait for this
I really enjoyed the continuance of the duopoly. It flowed well with the overlaps with Hannaford Prep. It was good to see Odie rise above her past and the relationship between her and Illi become more than it was. Once again, seeing the creation of this family that started in Mounts Bay was fantastic.
”MON MOSTRE & BABY GIRL” i mean how can bree turn a violent man into this softie ahhhh!!!! I love the second part more than first part but its a amazing read tje character development is best in 2 part. I love the romance the chemistry everything.
Book: The Butcher of the Bay Part 2 Author: J Bree Recommend: Yes Spice: 🌶️️ 🌶️️ 🌶️️ Age recommendation: 18-30+ Years
My feelings:
Illi….. Johnny Illium…. What a whole lot of man. Honestly is there anything mope attractive and addictive then a man who will go out and kill all your enemies and give you the hearts in a jar!
A man’s allowed three vices. Whiskey, cigarettes, and a good woman. Okay, so my motto used to be pussy but I’d never disrespect her like that, she’s more than that perfect, wet pussy between her long legs. It’s a fucking great pussy though. I need to get my head back into what I’m here to do but, fuck, she’s definitely my vice.
I wish illi was real. And I wish he was mine.
"Baby girl, the only tears on your face from here out better be from choking on my dick.”
So now that we have established that in love with illi, lets talk about the book.
Then he pulls out a ring. God help me, it's the most beautiful ring I've ever seen. A big rock in the centre of a platinum setting, the deep dark blue is stunning. "I thought about taking you somewhere to do this but I know what this place means to you. Marry me, baby girl.”
I loved the book, it was also good to get the backstory from a different POV. I love reading how he killed them all. I also loved reading about the hearts in the jars.
My girl deserves every fucking cartel heart in this room. She deserves them all and more. By the end of the torture and their deaths I have six new hearts in jars and the Unseen have a whole new appreciation for the Butcher of the Bay.
I would love another story about the serial killer leaving bible quotes… that sounds like a good opening for another book. I guessed the serial killer night be Nate aka The devil aka Morningstar. But im not 100% sure if it is.
Every victim has been left with a Bible verse. There are similar themes but no real patterns have been found yet. None of the verses seem to relate to the victims or the perpetrator, but to a third party. A man the verses identify as 'the Devil’.
I love how Illi learned French for Odie, it was sweet to hear him learning for her. I wish the story kept going so we could get Illi POV of getting stabbed, staying at the school and disposing the heads for Lips.
“And where exactly am I putting your wife’s name? And I need the spelling, I’ve never met an ‘Odette’ before.” I smirk at him and stand up. He doesn’t notice the smirk and he doesn’t catch the rosy blush on my girl’s cheeks either. “It’s O-D-E-T-T-E and I want it on my dick.” Kiefer blinks at me and then shakes his head. “Of fucking course you’re getting it on your fucking dick. Like my day hasn’t been long enough. Well, come on then. Get the monster out.”
Highly recommend these books! I cannot wait for J Bree to keep writing about this world, its not finished and I need more!

After the cliffhanger from the first book i was anxious to get started on this one! There wasn’t long to wait to get into the hang of things, though the prologue of this one kind of threw me off. There is the loose thread of the flower serial killer, so I’m wondering if we’ll see this figured out in one of the other characters books, particularly the Devils.
Illi and Odie continue to be the cutest and i love them so much. I love how their relationship develops and how they get (most) of their much needed revenge. I love the hints of Lips that we see, and that we actually got to know what Illi was thinking about her. I love that he cares so much for her.
The timeline threw me off at times but i love how it all leads up to when we first see Illi in the Hannaford books. Also, love the hearts in a jar! That was a nice touch.
After the cliffhanger of the previous book, Illi was ready to get to work and DAMN he works hard. At this point we've caught up to around the first and second Hannaford Prep books and it's great to see what was happening outside the school during that time.
It was also fantastic to see Illi and Odie truly get together, still working through her traumas. Despite all they murder, they're a great couple and I really enjoyed reading about them. Hopefully they make appearances in future Mounts Bay books!
This was an amazing conclusion to Illi and Odie's story but I also loved this as an extended prologue for Hannaford Prep as it gives us insight in Lips's life before attending the prestigious academy and in this book you even get a partly overlapping timeline with the Hannaford Prep series. Win win for sure!
In this book Odie takes back the power over her life completely by facing her demons with the help of Illi and it is GOLD! I won't deny that other characters also piqued my interest and I am looking forward to read more in the Mounts Bay Saga to see where J Bree takes us next.
Enjoyed the conclusion of Illi and Odie's story. It was nice to see Odette get her self worth back and become a strong woman and Illi was deeply and madly in love with her and treated her so well. She got plenty of hearts from him...literally! My only complaint is the use of "baby girl" way too much.
I really enjoyed this two part series. Illi and Lips were by far the MVPs in this series. Oddie was a really great character too; she truly endured a nightmare and I'm happy with how she got closure.
Made me question myself cheering and enjoying Illi's bloodlust, but hey, he's such a lovable guy haha. This duet is definitely one of my favorite reads this year.
DNFed at chapter 8. Read enough to find out how *spoiler* Illi gets Odie back and that was enough for me. I feel like that could have all been in one book. I didn't really understand why a serial killer was brought into the story that had nothing to do with the plot in book one or the completion of that plot in book two. Too many side plots with the MCs and the Twelve.

Odie & Illi oh my goodness. This whole duet is perfection. The plot keeps you on your toes & the spice is 🥵 I absolutely love how possessive and devoted Illi is towards Odie & how nothing else matters to him as much as she does 😍
Definitely read the triggers for this series it has some darker themes.
Almost DNF’d but finally made my way through. It felt like this book was unnecessary and that there were a lot of plot holes and missing details. The characters lacked substance (which you don’t always need but it was needed here)
I loved Lips and want to know more about her story though
