Absolutely love this series, so long ago I had 5 books picked out and one was this weird book about a necklace and aliens invading Earth, lame I thought, but I choose it out of the 5 and it is a series I love reading and look forward with anticipation to the next book - roll on October for New Beginnings. Not only that from Survivors I have read Nythan Hystads other books and have had as much enjoyment. He has an uncanny skill at creating likable, believable characters. He is a master story teller, I have no idea how he manages to plan ahead, but Survivors has not had one book that has left me disappointed. Each moves the story forward, the characters lives move on and develop along with the worlds that Nathan has built up around them. I just hope he keeps writing them. This is a a series he could return to for his whole writing career, he has created such a fantastic backdrop of worlds and given us snippets of alien histories, cultures and individuals stories. Anything could occur.
If by some chance you are reading this and thinking, this tells me nothing of this book, well, you're right, because you don't need to know, if you are a fan you're going to read it anyway, if you haven't read any of the Survivors series yet, you're in the wrong place, go and read the first one, you're in for a treat! Adventure, Sci-fi, battles, alien worlds, mysticism, tech, great characters and story telling about humanities survival awaits! Go, what are you waiting for!?
I'm not going to review each and every of the 18, so far, books in this series because it would be exhausting. Suffice it to say, as I just this morning told my son, to have the talent to write a series of 18 books (so far) and each and every book be as engaging, thrilling and be able to pull a reader right into the story instead of being a spectator to it is so rare and his books do that. From book 1 to the current book 18. Also, these are not novellas or short stories. Each in this series is a full on NOVEL. I've been opened to genres I never thought I'd be interested in before and it's writers like Nathan Hystad that make that possible .... that make reading ..... an important part of my life.
Jules takes herself to Lom's timeline and dimension with all the power of the Deities and begins the battle to end Lom once and for all! From across the timelines many versions of her friends and enemies bewilder Jules, some to help, some to hinder. Some alive here, but dead in another dimension. With the help of Lom's enemies in his timeline, and help from her powers from the Deities, Jules once more saves the multiverse. Different actions from familiar characters made for some interesting chapters! All the familiar faces in unfamiliar settings kept me hopping from page to page and never gave me time to adjust! Storylines jumping between timelines, characters jumping into action unlike they have heretofore. All together, made for an amazing read! Can't wait to see where this goes next!
OMG! What a fantastic read this is. Hold on to your hats people. Jules finds a new understanding of who she is. Then in true hero form, she decides to go to the alternate world where Lom of Pleva resides. The only thing she really wants to do is kill him in order to save her father in her timeline. Keep track of who is now on who's side as everyone is not necessarily who we are used to. I loved the twist at the end of the epilogue - no reading ahead! Now I am really looking forward to Book 15 to see how all this develops. Nathan Hystad, thanks for another very enjoyable story.
I enjoyed this instalment in the Survivors series. It's filled with action, dilemmas, villains and heroes. I like strong female leads and Jules is certainly that.
This story is cleverly different because of the timelines and yet similar in some, if not all, regarding the characters - an intriguing look at how experience can change perspective.
It took almost 17 years for Dean Parker to take a step back and let someone else take on a mission but that someone else was Jules and an alternate version of himself from a different dimension. But it’s not his dimension that he and Jules travel but to the one that Lom was sent to almost 20 years ago. To locate and end Lom of Pleva, Jules must help liberate the people of Earth, Haven and New Spero from Lom’s rule but it doesn’t come without the biggest price she has to pay.
Loved that we finally get caught up.to.Lom of Pleva. .Jules.has plans for.him, but before that happens Julz has.lots.of.work.to.do, and doesn't she.need to.free.The deities? You will love this!
This is a continuation of this series. Wonderful writing, weaving the characters together to tell a fantastic story. This book wines up part of the story line while starting the next adventure.
Even though it has been quite a long time since I read book #13 - I was able, for the most part, to remember and understand the characters etc. Just as gripping as the others. If you like apocalyptic world, futuristic space living and special powers - you'll love these.
Nathan Hystad has continued to keep my interest in this series of The Survivors. On to book 15 for more adventures with Dean, Jules, Magnus, Mary and the gang. Keep it up, Nathan!
Didn’t know how the book series could go on and get better but it did with new twists and turns. Great set of books. You won’t want to put it down. Big D
