Maybe It's My Imagination I actually did the audiobook of this story, but for some reason, GR didn't give me that option. This is the fourth book in the Adele Sharp series. I've listened to each one up to this point, and I'm not sure how I feel about the series anymore.
To be sure, Adele Sharp is an interesting character in a cast of complex personalities. Her father and partner are both so complex it's hard to decipher them at times. Adele is a brilliant and driven young woman who remains haunted by the need to find her mother's killer. It's an obsession, really. One she shares with that enigmatic father of hers.
The story was creepy. It was also astoundingly easy to solve, although I honestly don't care if I solve a mystery before it unravels or not. That doesn't spoil a book for me. But to know the instant the antagonist has a chance meeting with a main character that this is the one... it made me question how well this story was put together.
I also had a pretty big issue with the narrator this time. She's amazingly adept at different voicings and accents, which she would need to be for this particular story. But when there's no dialogue, I feel like a kid being read to by his parents. The timing of the narration is just off. Maybe it was me, but it really bugged me this time around.
If you like the Adele Sharp series, keep reading. If you're new to the series, don't start with this book.
In this instalment of the Agent Adele Sharp series, Adele teams up again with her father to save a missing kid. The focus here is kidnappings/missing persons, and I enjoyed the story.

Adele Sharp Mystery Series are really growing on me. The more of them I read, the more interesting these mysteries are to me. This Adele Sharp Mystery takes place in the forests of Germany not far from where her father lived. Her partner John and her father are involved in trying to solve the mystery of who is taking young men and women of all nationalities. The reason that she is called in on the case because she works for interpol for the USA, France and Germany. I loved the twist on this case, even though it was horrible what was happening to these young people. It was a good read.
This Adele Sharp Novel was a lot more straight forward than the others so far. I am intrigued by their family nuances and her will she won’t she with her work partner. I find him a great balance for her, especially with her obsession with her mother’s death. It was an easy listen on audio and I usually want more of a who done it, I was pleasantly surprised I didn’t need it for this book. I am more intrigued with her outside work happenings. Overall would recommend for an easy read/listen, but obviously think you should start at the beginning and not just start midway through with this book. It would be possible though, just not my style.
I enjoy this series. Adele is a great interpol/DGS/FBI employee. I feel each book we get closer to her moms murder but it is this anticipation of when will this be solved. Also in this book is a series kidnapper/possible killer when a women is found in the woods in horrible condition. Adele is called in with John to determine what happened and work with the Germans. Again Adele and her dad relationship is strained again. Which makes me feel sad as I do enjoy sergeant Sharp. I can’t wait to start the next one
I love this series from Blake Pierce. The characters are well developed and I find myself laughing at the humor he inserts. The twisted plot set in the backdrop of never ending forests adds to the darkness of this Book 4 in the series. Adele continues to search for answers surrounding her mother’s murder amidst the sometimes strained relationship with her father. Pierce doesn’t disappoint. Can’t wait for Number 5.
Another fast paced thriller from Pierce. I wish some aspects of the story would have wrapped up better, since I’m sure they won’t be revisited in a future book. Overall, it’s a great unpredictable read!
So far, this is the best book for this series. Couldn’t stop thinking about it when I didn’t have time to read. The suspense is great, the character development is getting better. The barriers are being dropped. Have already purchased the next book.
The fourth book was much better than the third. I like Adele and John working together. Look forward to the development of their relationship and Adele looking into her mother's death.
Never a disappointment with Blake Pierce!!!! I love all of her books!!!! I've read all of the Riley Paige series (both) and am enjoying this series as well!!
I'm starting to enjoy the series. Book 2 left me frustrated. Book 3 was a good start to gain ground. Book 4 was a good launch. Here's hoping book 5 pulls through.
Somehow the characters just don't appeal, Adele is fine but her supporting cast is awful. The story was good - very twisted and sick. How do people get such bizarre notions.
I absolutely love this series. Adele. John. Robert. I’m worried about Robert and look forward to seeing how the relationship between Adele and John develops. These characters have depth and I hate I must wait to discover what’s next.
