She's an unusual girl. Young and more confident than the other women he entertains. For Priest, President of Tarkio Motorcycle Club, everything centers around trust and possession. He's at his strongest when he has total control over his club, his life, his women. So when he finds a free-spirited girl dancing alone at the clubhouse, his dark sexual desires push him to seize her. Make love, not war. Born to hippy parents and raised on a commune, Nicole's desires are sparked by innocence and impulsiveness rather than deeper yearnings. A night of flirting with an older biker has her teasing him with the freedom she lives by. In him, she glimpses a spark of authority that she finds seductive. But not everything is about pleasure. Between murder, sex trafficking, and exposing her family's livelihood, she finds herself pushed out of her comfort zone, and learning a valuable lesson. To truly trust, she should never question.

His Road Dog is book 1 in the Patches: Tarkio MC and was an overall ok read for me. While I liked it, I didn't love it as much as some of this authors other books. Priest was a typical male for this author, but Nicole was hard to relate to. She grew up in a commune where bodies are shared at will and she is very free with herself. The book starts with her dancing in the MC clubhouse before catching the eye of the President. She flirts with Priest and before anything can happen, she runs off with her ride. Priest is eager to find Nicole and when she is charged in the murder of her lover he shows up and their relationship starts. I enjoyed Nicole and Priest together; they had great chemistry, but I found Nicole a little naive which I found irritating.

Heroine works one day a week at a salon and lives in a motel that is paid for by a random man (who gets killed).

She says to the Hero when talking about said man “Roy liked to take me out and be around me. He thought I was good luck when he gambled at the casino. When he won, he gifted me with things.” Hero asks if she slept with him her response was “That..is none of your business.” So basically yes.

Either he was her sugar daddy or shes a prostitute (which she denied).

Priest & Nicole

I almost laid the book down a little over half way through it. Nothing was really happening and there was a lot of discussion (almost too much - i get it already) about the way Nicole was raised, but nothing about Priest’s upbringing. I decided to stick it out b/c the ratings are so high, I kept thinking it must get better. It did, and I’m glad I finished it, but it was a little too late with some things.

Priest’s upbringing/history was given about a paragraph almost at the end of the book. What??? He’s a main character, and had we known about him earlier in the story, we could have understood his assholery as well as sympathize with the wall he had built up around him. His character deserved that.

Then there’s the issue of the club. Who are these guys? They are “family” yet there’s no background on them, no personality traits discussed, and no real interaction between them and Priest. We have no idea of his relationship with any of them. All we got was a list of names of who was in that particular scene. Characters. I want characters.

My last gripe; There’s no story behind the name Road Dog. If there was, it was so insignificant in the story, I missed it. Being that it’s the title, I’d like to know why he called her that.

In spite of those things, it was a good read and I’m glad I finished the book. I hope the next one in the series is written a little better.

Priest and Nicole are like night and day. Total opposites with an instant pull to each other with the first glance. She's young and not worldly, raised in a commune, a free spirit, not used to the harsh things in life as murder or bossy bikers. Priest, a rough MC president used to being in charge and in control that includes his dark desire for Nicole. Only he has to earn her trust and protect her from danger that she doesn't see. Despite the difference in the way they each view the world, something clicks with them. Enjoyed reading!

I loved everything about HIS ROAD DOG! Priest is everything an alpha should be-- dominate, unapologetic, possessive, and most of all, protective. There is nothing sexier than seeing a rough around the edges, completely dominant man who loves control and thinks he has seen it all get completely bewitched by a free spirited young woman! I also enjoyed Nicole so damn much! I thought she was such a unique and different female heroine who was raised in a hippie commune that I don't think I've ever quite read before. She was confident, loved herself and her body and was just so refreshing.

HIS ROAD DOG is the perfect intro to the original patched members world. Now that I have read book one, I have a greater appreciation as to how Debra Kayn set things up with her previous 4 book series of standalones Choices: Tarkio MC. They were teases and little glimpses into the bigger world she is getting ready to gift us with in the months to come! Priest's story was a perfect intro and it felt so satisfying that Priest, the President of Tarkio MC who seemed really set in his ways and most definitely not a romantic, somehow found his HEA and Nicole accepted him without trying to change him. That truly is love!

Now I need Curley's story! At least I hope and think that is who we will read about next based on the little tease at the end of HIS ROAD DOG. I've been DYING for Curley's book. Now I am even more curious!

He's been around. Literally, been around in every other previous book we've read about the Tarkio MC members before they became members. If you've been following along, you'll know I"m talking about Priest. He's the Prez of Tarko MC and it's his job to keep things running "properly" and making sure nothing upsets their way of living. And then he spots her dancing carefree. She's bewitched him---so to speak. We meet her when he meets her---Nicole. She's a carefree flower child from the earliest description in my mind. Nothing seems to bother her, but she sure is "bothering" Priest. He's uncomfortable because he's an Alpha male that isn't used to feeling this way about women. However, Nicole ends up in a bad situation and here comes Priest and Tarkio MC to the rescue. Well, maybe! You'll have to read it.

So begins the adventure of Priest and Nicole. Goodness!!

First, I've never really "met" someone like Nicole in an MC format. I've wracked my brain trying to figure out if she's like anyone else I've read and she's not. Maybe I live a sheltered life, but Debra Kayn isn't just going to be satisfied giving you the "average biker chick." Nicole isn't average and she most certainly isn't a biker chick. She truly is a woman of Mother Earth. She's carefree and open. Priest, as you can imagine, is the polar opposite.

What a fantastic way to start the next chapter for the Takio MC. We've all wanted Priest's story and now we have it. He's always been Prez and now he's more than just that. Debra Kayn did a fantastic job incorporating the previous stories (or characters) into Priest's story. I'm hoping we get a book about Curley and Faye. What a mess that probably happens to be. Or is it? You never know with Debra Kayn!

I received an ARC, but I loved this book so much that I purchased it as well. You won't regret it.

I'm voluntarily leaving a review for His Road Dog by Debra Kayn. I received this book as an ARC from bookfunnel and DK.
The queen of MC stories Debra Kayn, has another hit on her hands with this book.

This is the story of Tarkio's President  “Priest” and Nicole Bennett.
You have a rough around the edges man who sees things thru his own mind and in his own way. He's protective of those he cares about and his club.
Nicole was raised on a commune and is a unique and free spirited woman. She beats to her own drum.
There's an instant pull between these two when they meet at Tarkio's party.
Then a murder happens that affects Nicole. What happens, you ask.... Read!
Their story captured me from the first page and kept me in their world all through the story.

Debra Kayn's books are exceptionally well written; this one is no exception. All characters are developed as much as the story needs (main and secondary) and so many emotions. As the reader you felt what the characters felt. Highly recommend!

Loved this book

I am so glad some of the harsher reviews did not keep me from reading this. I absolutely loved it. I read the second book in this series first and loved it so much that I purchased this one. Even though I usually try to only read books through Kindle Unlimited, it takes a lot to make me buy one separately. These books were so worth it.

I absolutely LOVED Nicole. She was beautiful and a free spirit. Not one once of bitchiness in her, yet she totally stood up for herself when she needed to and didn’t let anyone make her feel unworthy. Priest was way older than her, but extremely sexy and very harsh and closed off. There were times that I really hated the way he treated her, but she didn’t put up with it.

I loved the way their relationship evolved. There were parts where I cried—(SPOILERS)—-especially when he went to find her at the commune. This book was so well paced and I couldn’t put it down. Loved the ending. Since I’ve already read the second book in this series, I truly hope there’s more!!

Priest is a man who wants to be in complete control of his club and his women. His life is devoted to his club and he wants experienced women, who will satisfy him with no strings attached. Nicole is unconventional and free-spirited. She seeks a man who will give her the love and devotion she craves. Bur the world they live in is a dangerous place, and Priest must do everything in his power to protect her and earn her trust! A breathtaking story about love, loyalty and family. Priest is an intriguing character, sure of himself and his desires, but when he encounters Nicole, his life is turned upside down! He is mystified by her and her attitude, and can't believe he's found what he was looking for all his life. Nicole wants to enjoy life to the fullest but Priest is unpredictable and demanding, and sweeps her off her feet! His Road Dog has a riveting plot that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Extreme intensity, extreme conflict, extreme passion equals one Major book hangover. But worth every page of it.
His Road Dog is the first book in the Patches: Tarkio MC, But Priest and several other members are introduced in the Choices :Tarkio MC series. In my opinion it is not 100% necessary to read the other series first, However it will give you a much better understanding of what is going on in the Patches series.
As always with Debra Kayn her books are very well written with a great story line. This is an age gap book, but done in a way you never really seem to notice. Priest is the rough, curt, and always needs to be in control. Nicole is love, peace and harmony. You would never think they would work, but amazingly they do. This book is intense with many twist and turns.
Grab yourself a copy today you will not be sorry!!

I really enjoyed reading His Road Dog, I love going back in time
Priest is a hard man, being as he is President of the Tarkio MC and many responsibilities. Priest watches and decides that the dancing girl named Nicole will be his and a murder in the mist helps to bring her in to the MC world a place which she has no idea how this life works, as she has been raised by free spirited hippie parents in a commune. Watch as the two worlds collide.
Priest is the man! I loved his character and fell in love with the raw grit that was so very common in the MC world back in the 70’s & 80’s. As always Debra gives us a story in which is a whirlwind world away with rough and tough men and the women who have their back and love them. His Road Dog is a well worth it read! Can’t wait for the next book!

We are back in the Tarkio MC world with this new series Patches. I have to say that I love EVERYTHING Tarkio! In this book we meet the MC president Priest. He is a very rough man who sees the world in his own way. He is fiercely loyal and protective of those he cares for, his club. One night he meets Nicole at the clubhouse and his world is forever changed. Nicole is a free spirit who was raised on a commune and is now out experiencing the world. She is much younger than Priest, yet fits into his MC world perfectly. These two come together in a way I did not see coming. They are perfect for each other and she is perfect for him. They have obstacles to overcome before they truly trust each other and it makes for a wonderful story! This was a fantastic read!!

Ahhhh, Priest..... We finally get Priests book. If you think the name Priest sounds familiar than you'd be right. Priest made many appearances in the last Tarkio series. I have to say I was really excited to see that the Tarkio series was going ro be extended to a new one.

Again ahhh Priest, the myth, the man, the Prez of the Tarkio for a long, long time. Priest made many appearances in the last series. In this book we get to really know Priest.

I have to say Nicole was alright. I know she was a hippie but she was a bit too flighty for me and thought she acted a bit childish. And when I found out her age that's when I realized why she acted so young.

I enjoyed the book and am giving 4 Stars out of 5!!!

**I received an ARC of this book for my honest opinion**

Loved this first book in the new series. Priest is the president of the Tarkio MC who is rough and takes no crap from anyone. Nicole is a free spirit hippy who was raised in a commune. One night Nicole ends up at the club house and just wants to dance and enjoy herself. Priest sees her dancing by herself and as hes watching feels drawn to her. There is a murder that happens to someone Nicole knows and Priest wants to protect her. While Priest and the Tarkio members look into the murder he does everything to keep Nicole safe. A great story with a mystery and Priest & Nicole learning to trust each other and finding their happily ever after.

His Road Dog is book 1 in the Patches: Tarkio MC series written by the talented author Debra Kayn. I fell in love with Debra's MC romance stories, then read all her other books. So far every books she writes is better than the last one. His Road Dog is a must read for any fan of biker romances, You won't regret it! I was completely captivated with Priest and Nicole Bennett's story. He's Tarkio's President and she's a free cheerful and spirited woman. Two people from different worlds collide and fell in love. The plot is intense and full of action, danger, passion, some twist and turns and romance.

The story of MC President, Michael “Priest” Hiatt and Nicole Bennett. Nicole is young, carefree spirit, and seemingly just dropped from the sky into Missoula. While Priest is attracted to her, he was still very cautious, yet can’t seem to let her go. With murder, and shady things going on his town, he is determined to protect her, even if it means giving her up when danger is imminent. I was drawn into their story with a few surprises, mystery, and lots of romance.
Debra Kayn has a way of weaving the words so beautifully that you can only become wrapped up in her storytelling.

Priest & Nicole

His club is his life. He's never claimed a woman or let one into his life. Oh, he's had women--for as long as needed to do the deed. This one is different. She doesn't cling. She's like a butterfly flitting where she wants for as long as she wants. He has no idea she's been raised in a commune where life is just what you want it to be with no help or interference by society.

While his club doesn't run by rules other than his, their lives are very different. Is there any chance they could be together? Let's just say Priest has done the impossible before will he do it again with the only woman ever to say no.

The reader finally sees the MC and how it runs--very well--with the strength and control of its leader. Just how strong and controlling Nicole has a hard time learning. Some may find his lessons shocking and wonder if she will come through on the other side--gonna have to read to find out.

Meanwhile, there are a few distractions, murder, death, steam, a connection between the club and her parents. So much going on. A fast-paced, exciting read. Don't miss it.

Priest Prez of the MC he is the total package an alpha older man that cares and protects those who he cares for.
Nicole total hippie, raised in a commune, free spirit loving, generous and beautiful.
What happens when total opposites attract? Fireworks. Ms. Kayn weaves a story so strong you don't want to put it down and when you reach the end of the book your like no I want to continue to read. The characters are so we'll developed and scenes are so real you feel you sitting in the room watching it all unfold. Never doubt Ms. Kayn's ability she writes a wonderful world with words.

Nicole and Priest are as different as night and day. Having grown up on a commune Nicole is a free spirit and has been sheltered from the evils of the real world. Priest is a hardened President of the local MC. He's a dominant and likes control over every aspect in his life. I thought they had amazing chemistry and it was nice to see how Priest was so taken by Nicole. I think their souls called to each other. I had a hard time connecting with Nicole but I loved how Priest wanted to protect her. A good read overall.

Talk about intense. I read the first series and I knew Priest was a tough guy. But Holy Hot Bikers, Priest was so much more. I understand why he didn't think he would settle down. He didn't think he would until Nicole.

Nicole is so unique, the product of hippie parents living off grid in Northern California. She is such a free spirt. When someone threatens to take that free spirit she will be on her knees thanking priest.

Lots of excitement. Lots of thrills. Lots of suspense and a whole lot of hot sex. What more could one ask for in a MC book.

I will start by saying Debra Kayne never disappoints. Having said that no one misunderstands my review, I have to say I had a love/ hate for Priest. I don’t want to spoil any thing but I almost wish we had been ale to read the convo between her dad and priest. I wish this book had been longer there were some things I would have liked for her to dig deeper into or spent more time on/with. This by no means the book was not good just that I wanted more. I can never get enough of her writing.

Loved it!!!!!

I don’t understand the negative reviews I read from others before buying this one???? It was great. I loved it. Priest is demanding and dominant, demanding complete trust and control. Nicole, is a free spirit, hippy, typical flower child. They are complete and totally opposite while being completely the same when it comes to loyalty. They are similar in their belief of not wanting to be judged by their lifestyle.it was pretty steamy too. I recommend.

His Road Dog is a great age gap read.
Priest is  the President of Tarkio MC and Nicole was raised in commune in California. The two couldn't be any different but they fit together perfectly. He teaches her about trust and the things of the world and she teaches him about love. They challenge each other and even compromise..... maybe. But even with all the differences in their lives, they love tremendously.

Hard life, hard man

As President of Tarkio, Priest has to be tough but his defenses are tested when he meets Nicole. Raised in a commune, she is unlike any other woman he knows. I love that she is written as a soft and innocent woman but one with a backbone. She has to be to stand up to Priest!

Good story!
