Warning: Some scenes within this book may cause triggers and may cause some upset.
Allana lives in Dundee, Scotland with her husband and two daughters.
She has always had a passion for reading and until a few years ago, started secretly writing. She had always debated sharing it but never had the confidence to do so, until now. In her words; 'Life is too short to regret things we could have done and wishing the should've, would've, could've's.'
She wants to show not only her dithers but to everyone else, that you can do whatever you want when you put your mind to it.
She loves reading a range of genres, particularly MC, Mafia and romance.
Other than reading and writing, Allana loves to help out other authors, watching WWE, dancing around the room with her daughters, or at the cinema with her husband. She also loves to bake, it's her stress reliever.
This is a hard book to review. I received a ARC for an honest review so I know the book may still go through editing, which I hope it does because there where a lot of errors. The book does end as a cliffhanger. I didn’t mind the ow/om drama as it fit the story. Striker and Daria where kind of annoying to me. First Striker is a real a$$ and not just alpha. Daria seems strong in one paragraph and weak in the next. They where both all over the place. I know they where each a product of their past but they switched moods so fast my head spun. If not for that fact I would have enjoyed it more. I am invested enough to want to read the sequel.
Striker seen this young girl walk into the clubhouse and even though there as some type of draw to her, he figured she had to be jailbait. He went to his room to get away from temptation and Daria burst into his room moments later after running from someone. Striker was anything but kind. He was a man who lived the rough biker life and he loved his knives. So when Daria stole one of his knives after he was done with her she was on the run again.
Eleven years later they meet again and that same pull is there but there is something much deeper they share with one another. Striker was beyond angry with what Daria has been hiding and he swears to make her pay. Daria was in a fake marriage with her all-time best friend Jake and it was getting time to end their marriage since Daria wanted Jake to feel the love from his spouse that he should.
There are so many events that happen that will have you turning page after page just to see if any of them will survive this. It is full of passion, distrust, brutality and it had me changing sides so often my head spun. It does end with one h*ll of a cliffhanger that will have me one clicking the next in this series of the Demons Disciples MC.
There is only 1 thing that can make me read a book from a new author. The blurb. That's the only reason. The cover might not be that appealing but if the blurb can talk to me then I'm a goner. And this is one of those cases. Allana Walker is a new author to me and let's just say that I will be following her. Her writing is raw and dark. Full of danger and so much more. Three Strikes is her latest release and it's the first book from the Demon Disciples series. This new book explores the lives of Striker and Daria. Striker is the bad guy. He's a badass biker that doesn't take shi*** from anyone. He doesn't intend to settle down but one encounter with Daria. Daria's life hasn't been easy. Surrounded by lies and deceive isn't the way to go. And to have the person who was supposed to love unconditionally hurt you it's not easy, or fair. One visit to a clubhouse she thought she would have some fun but that's not what happened. Someone tried... One encounter with Striker and... I was so freaking mad when this book ended. I was furious. What the hell??? Why? Why? Why? Why is it over? Why did it end like that? Are you kidding me? Fantastic plot, well written, super dark, super intense, and super engaging. Each chapter made me want to keep reading nonstop. One minute it was okay and the next bamm. It wasn't. Darkness lurked in every corner and my heart was beating super fast. The push and pull were so intense. There were parts of the book that I wanted to slap someone silly, but then there were others that I wanted to hold them and promise better days. It was infuriating to read some chapters. Jesus... Stubborn much??? I freaking loved each chapter and I can't wait for the next book. Dayum Allana... Just Dayum... This book killed me and the end... Why? I need the next book. Soon, please... I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
I've read and loved all of this authors books, but this one is very different to what she's written before. It's MC, so you do expect dark, twisty, and obnoxious characters, but I really struggled to like Daria and Striker. At the beginning it jumps from the past to 9 years later, then weeks and months later very quickly. I would have loved more information to connect some way with the characters. Now, saying that, from about 60% in the book takes a twist and we see a different Striker, one I actually thought I liked, but the end I wanted to punch him in the face myself. Daria and Jake were who I was rooting for in this series so far. I am struggling to see a happy ever after for Daria and Striker, because it's toxic.
Holy moly...I want to start by this book will leave you with more questions than answers. Daria and Striker were so back and forth at times that I wanted to beat them. Truth be told, I found myself wanting things to work out for them. I wanted them to find there happiness.
In all honesty this book is very well written. I’m new to Alana Walker, but I loved everything about this story and these characters. This book is a beautiful rollercoaster filled with ups and downs, mistakes, hurt, and misunderstanding. In the end it’s about love.
Three Strikes by Allana Walker is the first book in the Demon Disciples Series. It is also the first book I have read of hers. I am really not totally sure how I feel about this book as you will see in this review. Let me start with the language in this book, I never did figure out exactly where this book was set at, but by some of the language in the book I'm not sure it was set in the USA, I mean we just do not talk that way. Jake in the book does commute back and forth to New York a lot for work though.
The book is written in first person alternating chapters. There is a chapter from Daria's prospective then one from Strikers. A few of the chapter endings and beginnings are confusing. They do come back around but they take you out of the moment when it switches between Daria and Striker.
I guess I should add trigger warnings too. There are suicide attempts, domestic violence, actually lots of violence period. Attempted murder, murder, kidnapping, graphic sex scenes, and tons of fowl language. This is a very dark read. With a lot of the triggers happening at the hands of Striker I do not get why anyone would think these 2 are a perfect match.
I personally did not find myself in love or even like with any of the main characters in this book. Daria seriously needs a therapist, and Striker needs a bullet between the eyes.
In the book 17 year old Daria ends up at the Demon Disciples Clubhouse with her friend Jess who is dating one of the members. As she is trying to get away from one of the bikers who is pawing at her she runs into Striker's room. He basically rapes her.
Later she finds out she is pregnant from that one night. She tries to tell Striker but is told to go away by another biker at the Clubhouse gate. Fast forward 10 years. Striker is out of prison, Emily the baby born from the one night stand is now 9. Daria married her best friend Jake and has passed Emily off as his since her pregnancy was confirmed, at his request. Daria and Emily run into Striker at the ice cream shop, after 1 look Striker knows she is his. This is where the story turns very dark. The things he does to Daria while demanding his right to spend time with his daughter is just almost to much to bare. If it had of been me I would of taken my daughter and been long gone. This is no where the end of this book but I do not want to give to much away.
Everything about Daria's life seems dark and she never stands up for herself really. She allows physical violence, it's almost like she enjoys it. She would rather be beat on then to open her mouth and answer a simple question. And to keep going back to a person who has abused you so badly is just beyond my grain of thought.
This book does end with a cliffhanger of sorts as there will be a continuation of their saga in book 2. I am not dying for this second book personally though. I just cannot fathom more of the happenings in this book in the next one.
HOLY HELL WHAT DID I JUST READ?! Allana Walker is a new to me author, and I'm in love! This story was totally edge of your seat goodness, as it came out of the gate with a bang, and never slowed down. Daria has a very over bearing mother, who has already planned out her marriage, which is why Daria ends up at the Demon Disciples MC at 17 years old, and comes across Striker. Now, they have chemistry but it did straddle the line between right & wrong, and he's not a good guy, so treats her terribly from the jump. She leaves quickly with something of his after he basically throws her into his desk when they were finished, and with only one more visit where she got run off when she came to tell him something. Fast forward a decade, and Striker is out of prison, so the cat & mouse games starts all over, and he actually tries to kill her. Man, I despised Striker so much for so long, and honestly, the jury is still out for me when it comes to him, and since there's another part coming, maybe just maybe I'll finally look at him differently. This is a dark read with f-bomb worthy twists all over the place, so be warned there are some triggers as it's no sunshiny story. Now, I'm left dying inside for more after that cliffy, and you will be too after hitting those one click buttons! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Daria ends up letting loose one night, and ends up with a night that left her bad memories, full of regret, and the greatest thing of her life. After that night her life turned upside down, but she ends up making the best of things. Nine years later Striker, the man from her wild night, comes back into her life. It's not long until he figures out what's going on, and for Striker that's the third strike. Striker will make sure that Daria will pay for those strikes.
Wooo….. ok so this was the first read by this author for me, this was … rough. Choppy in bits, parts where you were expected to know what was going on; it does get better as the book goes on and flows a bit better but not by much. Now, the content is a totally different thing. An attempt at an alpha male that comes across as just wrong. Abuse is just abuse, there is nothing alpha male about that; that makes you a d-bag. I found myself pushing through this; the "wild night" was horrible and I could seriously call it something else, there is loads of drama, and I mean seriously unnecessary over the top drama. The naughty bits were lacking, maybe that's where I feel the wild night was something different. Add all that and then we get that ending.... boy I tell you I had never been more angry. I give this two stars, just cause I feel bad for giving it one.
Holy Cow what an emotional ride Three Strikes was for this reader. The book is very well written with characters that you want to hate at times but lord a mercy you just can’t. This is not your typical love story and it’s definitely not all rainbows and roses. It’s a Hardcore MC Romance that is not for the faint of heart - I can only assume the author will give readers a few trigger warnings due to some of the more intense events.
The storyline starts when the main characters, Striker and Daria, meet at a clubhouse party. She is three weeks shy of 17 and ends up getting pregnant that night. That one event changes her life and her dreams forever - but she never forgets the sexy biker in her dreams. Fast forward 10 years. Life has not been easy for Daria but she’s made choices that have given her daughter a good life. As for Striker, he too hasn't had it easy having just got out of a stint in jail. When the two meet up again by pure coincidence, fireworks happen and not necessarily the good kind - especially when Striker finds out he has a 9 year old daughter he never knew about.
My heart broke for this couple. They love each other to a level that causes nothing but heartache and pain. Too many lies, too many misunderstandings and too many horrific events keep these two at arms length. The only thing that softens things between them is their love for their daughter.
Three Strikes is part 1 of Striker and Daria story, so don’t expect things to end as your heart will want it to (yes it has a cliffy ending). All I can say is this reader can’t wait for part 2 and my heart is hoping part two has some type of HEA for everyone involved - if that is even possible at this point. 2 Thumbs up and 4 stars for a book I truly recommend reading.
3.5* If you like your biker books hard core then 'Three Strikes' will be right up your street.
Striker and Daria's book concludes in 'Nothing Else Matters' so don't expect an HEA in this book - and to be honest with a couple like these two it will take a second book if they are indeed ever going to get it! As they are two of the unlikeliest couple you could ever wish to meet I suppose that is why you want to see them together at the end!
The book is hard core Striker sleeps with Daria when she is only 17 and at first I am not sure if she really wants to have sex with Striker or not but she went to a Biker party and she is hiding out in Strikers bedroom. A one night stand is all it is - Daria comes from a wealthy family and she is set to marry her childhood friend
Move on 7 years and Daria is married to Joshua and she has a sweet little girl only trouble is she looks exactly like Striker striking blue eyes and. black hair. And where has Striker been for the last 7 years Prison.
Now out all hell is going to break loss. Behind all the blood and destruction that goes on in the club with gangs Daria and Striker are more alike than you first thing both are broken inside both holding on to insecurities since childhood - if only both could work through their anger and walls they have built these two could really have a chance. The only light in this messed up situation is their daughter the light of both their lives
I wasnt given this book as an ARC for an honest review
I met Striker and Daria a long time ago and have been falling in love with them ever since.
This isn't your rainbow and sunshine kind of love story, this is a love story that is not for the faint of heart but make no mistake it is a love story. Daria's life is no picnic, for an early age she is surrounded by control, negativity and lies. Her first encounter with Striker is well, less than a conventional start to a love story, but it's a start nonetheless. He is a complete @$$hole there's no question about it, but Daria doesn't resist him not one little bit. And so their story begins.
No more details from me, you will have to read for those. But believe me when I tell you that you will love the journey these characters take. It's not an easy or straightforward journey but hey that would be boring. Yes it's hard hitting. Yes you fall in love with ALL the MC. Yes you will love the girls. But what you will take away from Three Strikes is a story of unbelievable growth. A story that despite all that is thrown at Daria she makes it through. A story that speaks to the heart and if you let it, it will find a way in and you will never want to forget it.
I love how Allana has grown as an author and this book is a huge testament to that. I have loved the journey her books have taken me on. And Striker and Daria? They are my favourite. Though their story is unconventional and doesn't have a perfect start, it's theirs and it will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Daria is young and trying to break free from her stepmother’s iron grip. Her best friend is dating one of the Demon Disciples, so Daria tags along for a fun night.
Striker is the son of the Demon Disciples president. Daria catches his attention the minute she walks in the door. What was her barley legal ass doing there?
Overall, I enjoyed this book but in the beginning I DID NOT like Striker at all!! I felt he was overdone, unbelievable, but the story kept me hooked. In the end I’m glad I stayed with it. 3.5 stars.
This story was a bit hard to me to get into at first. Striker, especially, was hard to enjoy at first as he was quite a jerk. Daria had a rough time and did what she thought best though I was not too impressed with her strength to start. As Striker and Daria became reacquainted, I began to feel their emotional stories. I enjoyed the support and love from the secondary characters throughout the story. There was a lot of back and forth with their feelings and the book did not end in an HEA. I like angst in my reading, but at times, it felt like too much for this couple. I want to read the next book in this series to see how this all plays out.
I received an ARC of this story through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
Full Disclaimer: I received an ARC for my honest opinion by the author. I only read 25% of the book.
This is only the second time I have received a book where I was unwilling to complete it. This story was hard for me to read. Daria was seventeen and Striker, knowing her age, sleeps with her anyway. He was so rough with her and was not even caring if she wanted it or not. After he proceeded to call her a whore. She ends up being pregnant but when she went to the clubhouse to tell him they biker at the gate sends her away. Fast forward ten years and Striker sees her with her daughter, and he realizes she is his. What he chooses to do when he sees her again is to lock Daria is his room, assault her, choke her, threatened to kill her and take their daughter. I am not sure at what point the author thought we would hope that Daria and Striker end up together. I really tried to continue reading but I cannot sit here and hope for any relationship where the hero has no issue with underage sex, assaulting women with hopes to kill her.
Three Strikes is the first book in the Demon Disciples a new new series from Allana Walker. Its left me feeling really conflicted, I'm not sure how I feel about Striker and Daria's story. At times I felt like I was getting whiplash back and forth but on the other hand I was really rooting for them and found I couldn't put the book down and read it in one sitting.
Striker and Daria are both troubled people and its been over 9 years since they last saw each other. When Striker discovers Daria's secret it makes it his mission to plant himself in her life whether she wants him there or not.
This is book one of Striker and Daria's story and is full of twists and turns throughout. I cannot wait to read their conclusion.
Daria just can’t catch a break. She is living a life of lies except for her daughter. Striker is a very mean man and doesn’t take anything off of anyone. This is a very dark read. Striker is all alpha but had little compassion. It will be interesting to see where this book goes.
~~~~~~~~~~Tracy's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review~~~~~~~~~~
I have to say that I didn't like Striker when I first started reading this book. When I learned more about him and his history with Daria I started to change my opinion of him. Daria wow, she is someone who was dealt a hard life. She had to make choices that were for the best not herself but her daughter. She was always thinking of how her choices impacted those around her so now when she gets the choice to choose her path she isn't sure what path she wants to take. Great story that I loved and the struggle between Daria and Striker was riveting. Highly recommend this book and author!!!
The beginning of the book was a little hard to take in. She get treated like whore by the male lead. He calls her a whore and almost kills her. However, I continue to read it to see how the book would turn out.
It didn't disappoint. Through the book you see both characters fight their demons, while attempting to navigate being parents and having feelings for each other.
The relationship between the characters seemed real. I would recommend this book to anyone who wishes. It is dark and violent but it is enjoyable. The only bad part of the book is the cliffhanger at the end of the book.
This is the 1st in a series and is Striker and Daria’s story. When Daria first meets Striker, she is young and innocent, and after that encounter she ends up pregnant. Fast forward 10 years and she is now married, and Striker has just been released from jail. This is a story which is not for the feint-at-heart and will contain triggers for some readers due to the content of abuse. This story is an emotional roller coaster which is dark, action packed, violent, and with twists and secrets which all lead to a steamy read. This story does end with a cliff-hanger, and I look forward to reading #2.
This is my first book by this author and it has me feeling mixed emotions.
There is a lot I like about this book. The overall writing is good, the plotline is mostly thought out, most of the characters are either ones you will like from the beginning or ones you will love to hate until they change your heart.
This book has some triggers and it is on the dark side. It isn’t the darkest book I have read but there are definitely dark themes and actions. I am interested in where the author is going to go with the storyline and characters in book 2.
I read this book in one day. It is rough to read some of it, but it had me in tears through it too. I don't like that it ended on a cliffhanger, but I can't wait for the next book to see what happens between Striker and Daria. Striker fits the stereotype of bada** biker. Complete Richard if you get my drift. However, one dalliance with Daria, and he is hooked but doesn't allow her into his heart. It isn't until years later that they finally get together to be a family. But the biker life doesn't always allow for an HEA. That is where we are left. Finally liking Striker, and our hearts hurting for Daria. So when is the next book coming out?
Great book to a new series! Absolutely loved it! If you like MC books. This book may not be for some. It does have some scenes in it that isn’t for some, however, I did love it & I’m looking forward to the next one. Daria learns the hard way that you don’t mess with the Demons Disciple. Striker has anger issues but there is 1 little girl that can bring out the better side of him. This book is interesting.
This is not your typical love story and it is definitely not for the faint of heart. Daria and Striker are a complicated mess, mostly due to Striker being a royal butthead. He's mean & hateful, but as you get further into the story, you realize why he is. I didn't agree with all the crap he puts Daria through, but you can see that they really do love each other. The ending left me shocked and I can't wait to see what happens next.
I wasn't sure what to expect from this book. And I wasn't left disappointed I was hooked and had to know what was going on. This is a great start to a series.
I loved Daria and Striker together, they may of had a tremulous past. But they manage to get over it. They had a high charged relationship from get go. And I was happy to see Striker change.
I can't wait for next book to find out what happens next.
I'm addicted to this series. At first I was not a fan but slowly I came around. It is definitely a slow burn kind of book and one where you hate the hero but fall in love with him by the end. I look forward to reading more from this author and hope that we see more from this series.
Daria just can’t catch a break. She is living a life of lies except for her daughter. Striker is a very mean man and doesn’t take anything off of anyone. This is a very dark read. Striker is all alpha but had little compassion. It will be interesting to see where this book goes.
I'm so torn on this review! I really wanted to love it, but for me it just fell a bit short. Striker & Daria had this crazy chemistry, but life (and sometimes their own decisions) just kept getting in their way. There seemed to be so much drama and I was so on edge trying to figure out what would happen next. It did end on a cliffhanger so hopefully the next book will answer my questions.
