Seven minutes in heaven awarded me seven years in hell.
Ryan Carter has admired Savannah Fontane since she whizzed down his street on her hot pink bike with rainbow tassels taped on the handlebars. He was in awe someone so young could ride without training wheels, he asked his mom to remove his that same afternoon.
Savannah drew a rainbow heart on his cast the very next day.
From then, they were inseparable. Ryan thought Savannah would heal the cracks his parent’s volatile relationship caused to his heart. Only now is he realizing she may fracture it beyond repair.
Pinkie Promise Duet is Ryan and Savannah’s complete story. It includes both ‘The Way We Are’ and ‘The Way We Were’ and is approximately 180,000 words in length.
Author warning: this duet includes situations of domestic violence that may be distressing for some readers. Discretion is advised.

I love writing and reading. They are both my passion. My genre is generally set to new adult and contemporary, with a few twists thrown in.
Wonderfully fantastic... The book set was amazing... It had a lot of details and juicy scenes to them... The characters and their personalities match them perfectly... The plots and the storylines was very descriptive and amazing...I would recommend this Boxset to anyone!!

There’s so much I love about this boxset . There are places where I just broke out laughing, places where I felt pain and asked why? There were places where my heart grieved, and places where I was rooting within saying, Go get ‘em.
But there also were places when I cringed. Too many of them. I’m not a fan of excessive cursing just as I’m not a fan of authors filling pages with bedroom scenes that add nothing to the plot. I found myself skimming over a lot of both books due to this.
👁 OBSERVATIONS (some spoilers)
4 Stars for plot and emotional draw 1 Star due to crude language taking away from main storyline along with unexplained gaps. 3 Stars total.. 4-1=3
Why so self-righteous Ryan? You told her you found someone else. You sent her packing, so quit blaming her. All this was VERY frustrating to read. He needed to man up. He chose to do what he did. Not her fault.
What….. at the end of the second book we find Damon on trial for shooting Ryan????? We need more detail. There would be lots of space to develop the story simply by doing away with all the unnecessary filler copy of F bombs and cursing G_d.
We are teased about Brax getting mugged (or did they mean robbed). Ryan felt there was more to the situation than a run of the mill petty crime…. he had ‘that’ intuitive feeling… But we’re never told what it was. I wondered if it was connected to Damon???? Don’t know, it’s not explained… or if it was, it must have been one of the skimming parts so I missed it. The mugging/robbery and Damon on trail for shooting Ryan takes place at the end of the book… No, it’s not a cliffhanger. It’s just not explained.
Another gap with Savannah's mom.... what happened the second time she disappeared?
Was Chris in the story just to ki11 him off? What purpose did that fill? If he was that concerned about Noah, he would have known about the abuse and have taken Noah out of the mom's grasp.
One too many Alex characters.... got confused when Ryan called FBI Alex for information. Then I realized he was not the criminal Alex in the story. Good writing, and good editing…. found a couple of typos but that was about it. This author is talented. She knows how to bring together emotions, both positive and negative, as she lures the reader into wanting to know what’s going to happen.
🤔 WISHES: The text was too crude with all the cursing and swearing. Wish I didn’t have to skip over a lot of the text. I’m interested in a well developed storyline and the unnecessary foul language hindered my reading.

From the description at one of my favorite book review sites, this story sounded complex and heartbreaking. I do love a book, or a book duet, that brings all the feels. I'm sorry to say, though, that I found this book to be disappointing. Not because of the story or plot, but I just could not get beyond all the profanity and other crude words that the author felt a need to employ. I absolutely detest profanity in books. Perhaps because I grew up as a reader, enjoying books from an early age that did not have swearing, it always seems inappropriate and jarring to me. And these books were just filled with profanity and other crude words, sometimes multiple times in a paragraph. Swearing at this level is just never appropriate for a book. It certainly kept me from feeling as much compassion as I should for the hero. This is an emotional read, though even that was somewhat blunted for me because of this. If you don't mind a contemporary romance with a boatload of profanity and crudeness, you might find this more enjoyable than I did.
I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.
Ryan’s Story – 3 out of 5 Did Savannah irritate me? OMG YES. Did Ryan irritate me? Yes. Was this because of the age they were written for the majority of the book and the urge to roll my eyes was overwhelming? Again, YES. Did my opinion of Ryan change after this duet? Also, yes. There was some good points to the plot and the storyline kept me reading but I felt like I was reading a half story. I loved the chemistry that the author created between Savannah and Ryan and learning about Ryan’s background, which was heartbreaking to read especially about his mom, but at the same time, I feel like so much was missed on the development of the characters. It’s like one day, they are growing and the next page they jumped 5 levels and the reader is left trying to figure out how they grew so much. I didn’t like that the author put out Clara’s story first because now I knew something about what was going to happen to Ryan and I was interested to read how Savannah would take what happened to him only to find out that the author went ahead and skipped over that whole scene just to do a happy ending wrap up. Don’t get me wrong, I love those but again, there seems to be a consistency with missed opportunities to really expand on a character past the damsel in distress that refuses to admit she is in over her head and the knight in shinning armor whose too perfect to be true. I loved the Ryan in the Enigma books, this Ryan….Meh. Overall it was an ok book but not, to buy worthy.
Okay so here is the think about this book. One the majority of it is set during high school and when they are young. I don’t really think it’s much of an issue until we start getting to the DV and all of that. Do i think it’s Important to talk about and all yes but I just hated seeing them have to go through that.
Ryan I know why he lied to savannah, I mean to protect her and all but at the same time I feel like the story was kind of useless and just one thing after another, after another. Yes I knew that going in to the story Ryan would eventually have to lose Savannah for the present day story to make sense, but I have to say the second have of the book just felt kind of drawn out to me. Like it all could have been ended sooner. As I said I think that it was just a bit too much for one story, for example just in the second half of the book Savannah she has to become essentially a stripper to make ends meet, discovers that Ryan lied to her about cheating on her, went to go to a brothel to perform but then go arrest and all the money she made was taken from her, then we discover she was being abused in the witness protection program and not only that she is a mother to the child of the abuser, plus finally she is driven off a cliff in to the water where she drowns for a second time in the book.
I just think everything is getting over complicated with how this world is working out. Don’t get me wrong I will still read the rest of the books. I just think having all of the books be so deeply connected might make it harder for others to enjoy.

The Pinkie Promise Duet gives you both of Ryan and Savannah's stories in one place.
I have devoured all of the Enigma Series, and Ryan is one of my favorite heros. He is so protective of Savannah, even in their younger years. It's not surprising he grew up to be a detective.
Savannah is just trying to keep her head above water, and survive. She is strong, fighting for the life that she wants.
They made so many promises to each other when they were young, but circumstances got in the way.
This duet is emotional and heartbreaking. It is full of secrets and so many twists. Prepare to have the tissues ready.
I love Shandi's writing, and highly recommend this duet.

This duet is emotional and heartbreaking, taking the reader along through the good times and bad. The secrets, promises, and multiple twists will pull you into the heart of these wonderful story lines.
This book's ending not only brought happy tears to my eyes, I honestly think it was the best ending I've ever read. I love this series so far, and this one by far has made it to my top 5 best books I've read, and I read a lot. I love how Shandi has cameo's for the past characters, reminding her readers that this series is more of a Big Happy Family series where everyone somehow is connected, and I love finding out that connection, it always gives me goosebumps.
This was my first book by Shandi, but it put her in my top authors to read list! Her story of Ryan and Savannah’s enduring love is full of unexpected twists and turns, but they just add to the delicious, steamy story of how love can overcome seemingly impossible odds. Ryan’s promise to never let Savannah down or drown is the one constant that sees them through a life that many would never be able to survive. This will be one I will come back to reread in paperback form as soon as I purchase!
This duet is Ryan and Savanah's complete story. Wow, what an amazing read. Two great characters that go from childhood friends, being inseparable to not. This story is the journey of Ryan and Savannah that is not easy, contains secrets and twists but well worth the read. This duet had me teary with sadness and smiling with happiness. As always from this author, a great read. Enjoy!

Savannah and Ryan were sweethearts since they were 4 years old. Circumstances in life separated them twice, miscommunication and heartache beleaguered their relationship. This last separation caused untold hurt, until Ryan finds her again and most importantly finds Rylee, her daughter. They are on the run from a psychopathic law officer who beat up Savannah and tortured her while in the witness protection program.
I fell in love with Ryan and Savannah while reading this duet. They are so relatable and realistic characters and the author does such an amazing job of laying out this emotional and beautiful love story that you just get swept away in the pages.

This is a heartfelt story with humor, sexiness, and times where your heart will just cry and not stop. I couldn't stop reading because I felt everything for Savannah and Ryan. I love that it's in a box set because there was no way I couldn't continue after the first book.

Loved eqchother since they were 4 and knew that there was no one else for each other. It was beautiful. Loved reading their story from the start and involving others. My heart broke a few times, but I understood why Ryan and Savannah did what she did. I would have loved to have read the letter Savannah left for Ryan
Wow I enjoyed this duet. The characters are well developed and engaging with undeniable chemistry between the couple which made for great storyline that kept me entertained throughout the pages.

Good story but since it encompasses two books, more of Savannahs story once she left would have made it better as it seemed as if random bits were thrown in at the end.
I loved Ryan & Savannah's book. Great chemistry. This was a great duet. I received a free arc copy of the book. And am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Bit of a tough read - bit slow in places and then also time lines jump massively. Also tough to read due to content of familia and spouse abuse. Decent duet with HEA
This novel had a lot of good moments, a lot of sweet moments, and a lot of amazing moments that just brought a warm smile to my face; however, there were the times were it would lull and I would think about placing it down in favor of another, but in the end I'm glad I stuck it out and finished it.
