Addison Holmes has her hands full. Marriage changes a woman, and pregnancy hormones are no joke. But despite her promise to retire from dangerous P.I. work, she has no choice but to take this case.
Twenty years ago, her father and his partner cracked the case of their careers. But it was all a set up. They sent the wrong men to prison, and now it's time for the real culprits to tie up loose ends. Her father is dead, but his partner, who happens to be her mom's new husband, is very much alive. At least for the time being.
Discovering the truth is no easy task, but saving her father's legacy and her step-father's life is her top priority. Because family means everything.
Liliana Hart spent five years teaching music in the public education system. She molded America’s youth, busted kids for smoking pot in the restrooms, and broke up illicit affairs behind the stage on a regular basis. (Liliana’s Addison Holmes Mystery Series, about a small town teacher who gets into a whole lot of trouble, is somewhat autobiographical, but she won’t confess to which parts).
Liliana began reading romance novels with all her new found free time, and when she ran out of things to read, she decided to write her own novels. The result was a 150,000 word thriller—a dazzling adventure—where the heroine was a thirty-year-old virgin assassin (Yes, you read that right). She couldn’t imagine why people weren’t knocking down her door to read it, but she persevered and began writing a second book. She finally got the hang of things, and eventually learned that losing one’s virginity wasn’t all that romantic after all. All of her books involve some kind of suspense (she just can't help herself), laughter, and a lot of steamy sex.
Since the failure of her first attempt, Liliana’s books have won awards such as: The Daphne Du Maurier, The Suzannah, The Linda Howard Award of Excellence, The Maggie, and many others. Her affiliations include Romance Writers of America and Mystery Writers of America.
Liliana loves to cook, and is addicted to reading, Internet Boggle, kickboxing, and Bones. She lives in a big, rambling house in Texas with a couple of cats to keep her company. She loves to get emails from readers.
Yay, Addison and all the gang are back for another insanely hilarious mystery...
Addison and Nick had a fantastic honeymoon, and now back home, Addison is still battling morning sickness and pondering what to do with her life besides be a great wife and mother... Addison has given up PI work!!! Yes, she promised Nick... Lol, so when her mother comes to her convinced her stepdad is well stepping out on her with another woman, what can Addison do? She has to look into it, right? And hey, it's family, so it's not like she is doing real PI work again... Now we should remember Addison”s penchant for attacking trouble!! Now to see where this story is going, right? Yep right to my funny bone... Lol Talk about a wild adventure. My sides were splitting. I'm seriously hoping there are more adventures to come for Addison, especially after that ending.
It has been years since I read a Liliana Hart book and I liked the start of her JJ Graves series so when I saw my library had her audiobooks I decided to give her Addison Holmes series a try. I listened to this entire series via HOOPLA and yes let me first say it does remind me of the Stephanie Plum series, but then it took on a life of its own. I needed something light/funny/ridiculously OTT and this was perfect, especially at work. Addison is a high school history teacher who tries to be a stripper because she is need of extra money, of course she botches the audition. She ends up doing PI work at her best friends’ agency where all the adventures begin. She has two sexy suitors: a cop and a FBI agent, Rosemarie the crazy sidekick and a southern Mother. In the later books crazy Aunt Scarlett shows up and is a hoot! Throughout the series you go on many missions with Addison and the gang. Highly recommend if you looking for just pure craziness!!
Connie Ventress does perfect narration.
When the ladies are together On the job Aunt Scarlett THE VAN
Another laugh out loud fun mystery from Liliana Hart's Addison Holmes series. The only problem I have with these stories is that each book comes to an end and I always want more. I adore Addison, Nick, Rosemarie and Aunt Scarlett.
I loved this series. It was silly, ridiculous and at time made me laugh out loud. They should make this series of books into a tv series. It would be hilarious .
I like how they're playing the pregnancy, its funny. What I don't like....SCARLET, again! OMG, its like she's the main character in this. Who would ever allow someone who is that clueless, stupid, disrespectful, inconsiderate and dangerous to hang around when they're doing important things, no less life threatening situations?! Most REAL women would not put up with that shit! She is making me dread the rest of the book. I'm not enjoying them quite as much since she started being a regular part of the storyline. I really actually hate her! I was reading a lot of other comments like this and wow were they right! Liliana had a great series going before the old bitch took over, she could still turn it around and make them enjoyable again, just get rid of Scarlet!!! I'm really loving these books, with the exception of Scarlet, but it's getting to be a pretty major thing. I'll cross my fingers that the next book only makes mention of her but doesn't put her in the story.......one can dream!
The way Liliana Hart writes is very easy and enjoyable to read however it was disappointing that the 3rd book is unavailable in Australia through Kindle.
There are also a lot of inconsistencies throughout the series from Nick's grandad not being alive in the first few books leading to family tensions but in the later books he is alive and a senator?
Other little things like haircuts (Addison never having changed her hair since highschool but the previous book she had a crazy hairstyle change because of having hair ripped out). She also rented the house on Savages street and in the last book she apparently owns it. She also alternates with being the oldest/youngest sibling, and her cars change as though she has never had a certain one.
Overall I enjoyed the books but wouldn't recommend reading them back to back.
I appreciate Addison’s evolution as a person and private investigator in this installment of the series, but my gripes are too big to rate it above two stars.
First, the prologue (which is not even a prologue, but a copy/paste chapter from later in the book), gives away the majority of the mystery! I should know better by now than to waste my time on these prologues, but this is the first time one has straight-up ruined the book for me. Also, why are there still so many spelling and formatting errors in these books? In a pivotal part of the book, two of the names were switched. Does an editor even review these books? So weird.
Until recently, Addison Holmes worked at her friend, Kate's detective agency. She and Nick, a police officer, recently got married and she is pregnant. Kate is shutting down her detective agency and looking for other opportunities.
Vince, Addison's stepfather, has disappeared. Her mother suspects he is having an affair when she finds a woman's phone number. She asks Addison to check things out. Vince and Charlie, Addison's late father, were former police officers. There was one case 20 years ago that didn't seem right so Charlie continued to investigate. It turns out that Vince has now picked up where Charlie left off before his death and there's no other woman ... he's just hunting down clues. As Addison tries to find Vince, she has the help of her best friends, Kate and Rosemary, and her eccentric great aunt, Scarlett.
It was a light fun book to read. It is written in first person perspective from Addison's point of view. I liked the writing style ... it was amusing. There is some minor swearing.
Though it is the seventh in the Addison Holmes series (I've read them all), it works as a stand alone. It had been a few years since I'd read the sixth one so it took a while for the characters and relationships to come back to me.

This series is so much fun! I was a little bit afraid that Nick and Addison were leaving the scene after their marriage. I am sooooo happy that I was wrong. They’re BACK!!!!
Addison and Nick are settling into married life and even have a baby on the way. Addison has promised to give up her PI work for the baby’s sake. She knows it’s for the best. It’s dangerous work and she has a child to think of now. She’s OK with it. Until her stepfather goes missing….
In typical Addison fashion, she stumbles into secrets that are best-left secrets. She has her entire entourage of friends in on the action. The reader gets one hilarious story as the mystery unfolds. Nick takes it all in stride and has a surprise for Addison when everything is wrapped up. I love this series! I love Nick and Addison…they are the perfect for one another couple!!!
I guess this is the last book in the series. The audiobook was pretty entertaining if you are looking for a lighthearted read with a mystery that is less important than the character interaction.
This book and series was so quirky, it didn't even bother me when the inconsistencies popped up. It might have mattered more if I had read the books, but listening to them didn't make them seem as obvious.
I am pretty disappointed because I feel like I was left hanging. What happened to Nick and Addison's house? What happened with Addison's mom and Vince when he came to finally? Were the police still looking for Scarlett? What happened with the pregnancy? How did Addison manage Nick's gift during and after the pregnancy? And a few other unanswered questions.
In #7, Addison is now married and pregnant, with morning sickness and raging hormones. She thought she would give up being a PI and stay at home, but that's not really working out for her. Life is always zany for Addison and this series is just a fun romp through crazytown. With an aunt in town who knows no limits, and a best friend who can't control her, Addison's impulses always get her in trouble. Mom has asked her to find her husband and this leads Addison to Miami and the Louisiana bayou, to her dad's old police files, Witness Protection, the mafia and police corruption. It's mayhem!
Okay you left out if Addison has a big like she thinks it a girl like everyone keeps predicting. Only a women knows what she is carrying but friends and family should not put scared into a expecting mother, shame on them. I hope the author has plans to continue Addison and Nicks story especially now she owns two businesses. Plus I'm hoping for a spin-off of Savages new job and see if he finds his soulmate!
In the last book of the series, Addison was getting married and retiring as a P.I. and I thought that was it - no more. Not so! It’s been a while, but here she is again, larger than life, and deep in the mire. Crazy characters, an unbelievable plot, some serious stuff and some comedy - but the heroine comes through again - and the way is open for more adventures. Bring them on!
I love these cute and quirky characters and found this to be another fun read. Addison, while wading through early married life and morning sickness, goes in search of her absent stepfather. Her mother is certain that he is cheating on her because there've been no calls and he doesn't answer. With the help of her friends Kate and Rosemarie-and Aunt Scarlett, Addison sets out to unravel the mystery of the missing Vince.
Addison Holmes is just settled into married life and to the idea of being pregnant. She has promised Nick, her super hot husband, that she will give up the PI business for hers and the baby’s safety, even though she loves it. But when her mom asks her to find her stepdad, she can’t say no. If it’s for family, surely that can’t count, right?
With her crew of Rosemarie, Suzanne, Kate, and Aunt Scarlet supporting her, this will be easy peasy.
This book catches you from the beginning. The characters are great and keep you laughing. Addison and her Aunt Scarlet are a hoot along with her other friends Susanne and Rosemarie. Can't forget her partner Kate in the PI business, that she left to get married to the cop Nick.
These books stand on their own or can be read alone.
Addison Holmes is back! With her entourage in toe, Addison comes out of short retirement to find her stepfather. With Aunt Scarlet, Rosemarie, and Kate, the follow the clues to find her stepfather. I couldn't put it down, and you never know what will happen next. It's entertaining at it's best.
Nothing holds Addison down, not even morning sickness, home reno or say good bye to special people. As Addison takes up the case of her missing step father and the secrets in the past that could get them all killed. Its a rag tag team hunting the clues. But, its Addison who eventually exposes the dirty cops. Its a laugh out loud read.
Addison is at it again, along with her trusty troops. She supposed to be retiring from investigations now that she's pregnant but has one last case to solve. Of course, she runs into all kids of situations that complicate things. There are laugh-out-loud moments that are hilarious. The only downside would be the typos, etc. An extremely enjoyable book.
I was so excited to read another Addison Holmes mystery. Whiskey Lullaby by Liliana Hart did not disappoint. Another great addition to the series. The characters are wonderfully written. There is humor as well as serious moments. I felt the story was well-paced. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
I was not expecting another Addison Holmes book so when I heard the news that another was in the works I was elated. I love this series and all of the characters. Addison and her friends are always getting themselves in a pickle and I never know what's going to happen. I hope there will be more stories in the future.
I love this series it is a must read. If you love series, Liliana Hart is a must read too. Addison Holmes become your best friend, you will laugh out loud, cry and wish you lived in Whiskey Bayou just so you can be her friend. I hope to see more. Please! ❤️
Loved this !!! I have loved the whole Addison Holmes series !! I have laughed, I have cried, and I have been kept on my toes from the first page. I have loved reading about Addison and her crazy gang and everything they get up to. I would definitely recommend this entire series especially if you love a good mystery that is filled with plenty of action and laughter.
I’m so sad this is the last book in the Addison Holmes series. I wish Liliana would reconsider and keep them going. There is still so much more to Addisons life that could be told. It was a great ending (I’m still holding out hope some day in the future there will be more) to the series. Liliana Hart is a great author and I enjoy all of her books.
I had forgotten how much I love Liliana's sense of humour. Just another excellent reason to keep following this author. Addison although married and pregnant just can't keep away from her love of investigating, especially as it involves her stepdad. The retiree starts a missing person search which turns dangerous. Good story line boosted by laugh out loud chuckles.
I enjoyed this book more than the last one because the crazy cast of characters involved were a little less, although, I feel like these books keep getting shorter and shorter. I would still like to see more of Nick and Addison working together, or even just more of them together, but overall it was still a good read.
