In the 70's East German leaders project that the 80's will be ripe for final confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union. Eighteen highly qualified men recieve two years of specialized training and, given fake credentials, are sent to become entrenched in the United States. Dwight Eastwood, the chief executive of a shipping line, is involved with a young nymphomaniac. One evening he lets himself into her apartment with his key and stumbles across another of her lovers. Something he overhears causes him to make a move, despite the fact that he is knowingly breaking the law. His momentary fit of jealousy opens a Pandora's box and culminates in swift-moving events that could bring Armageddon on a fateful Thursday.
