When the Marquess Claims a Governess will keep your attention from the moment you begin the journey with The Marquess, Lord Edward and Margaret until the very end! Beatrice Hill has a writing style that I thoroughly enjoyed, she's filled this story with characters that come off the pages and pulled me into their tale, a story that is well-written, with a good plott, and great dialogue, Edward has physical and mental scars with low self-esteem but he is caring with a kind heart. Edwards twin brother Robert is the exact opposite with a black soul. Edward meets Margaret and they instantly drawn to one another and Edward offers Margaret a job to be governess for his sister. As both are drawn to one another Robert is lurking in the background and will to break Edward and Margaret apart in the heart felt story filled with drama, family greed, trials and tribulations, turmoil and as tensions intensify and uncertainties abounds with twists and turns that will keep you reading until the end in this outstanding story!
Fate’s Guiding Hands - Edward’s life was irrevocably changed when he was a teenager and unfortunately, things didn’t get any better when he recovered. Margaret grew up in the midst of chaos, but she still felt the love of her father until he passed away. After an unfortunate first meeting, these two seemed to gravitate towards each other once they realised they had a lot in common. However, Edwards brother continuously made everyone’s life miserable with insults and threats, based on an incorrect assumption. This is a really wonderful read, about never making assumptions, without having all the facts. You will enjoy reading this book.

Beatrice Hill showcases the battle of Good versus Evil in this story about mirror identical twins raised in a very dysfunctional family. The more extroverted twin was over indulged by his debauched father the duke whereas the introverted twin had a strong comraderie with with the duchess. When a carriage accident takes the life of the duchess, these skewed relationships become even more extreme and proper care of the little sister is one more bone of contention. Adding a talented, beautiful governess to the mix stirs the pot and profoundly changes the outcome. . .
2.5*’s. I had a hard time liking the key characters when they displayed such mercurial behaviours. The story began well with Margaret, Edward, Robert and even the Duke dealing with some personal/ inner turmoil. As some connections are made, the suggestion of a threat cause things to change. With only scant details provided around character background/motivation and overall plot development, I found it hard to stay engaged. Yes, a desired outcome was realized in the end, but what about the details around how it was achieved?

It started out, as most romance novels do, describing the Hero, the Heroine, their circumstances and other characters that surround them. Where this ended, the Hero was mistaken for his twin brother by the Heroine and.... they hadn't actually met.....
There is a link to get the full book, sign up for the author's newsletter, and the publication company at the end of the book. (Full book on Bookfunnel.)
There were a couple of inaccuracies the main being that it is impossible to have two Marquises. However apart from that the story of Edward and Margaret was enjoyable. How they persevered against the odds and finally found happiness. A sweet historical romance that moved along quietly. This is the first novel I have read by Beatrice Hill I look forward to the next. I received an ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
Loved reading this book of Lord Edward and Margaret of their determination of seeking each other out with a common goal. As, I read this book it was hard to put it down as the author engaged you in their journey. A must read as as it has love, romance, determination, forgiveness, heartache and respect.
The story of orphaned Miss Margaret Andrews who found herself working in a kitchen instead as a governess and younger Marquess Edward Lockwood, who lost his mother and a part of his leg in an accident several years ago, was wonderfully heartfelt written.
I enjoyed the time reading this book very much.

No character development with sudden changes in behavior. The main character is a simpering milk toast with no backbone, unattractive, and unbelievable. Emotional abuse of a child occurs without any address to it.
This book was enjoyable and a fast read. Edward meets a woman who likes to read as he does. He becomes so attracted to her that he hires her to be his sister Katherine's governess. Margaret has always wanted to be a governess but she didn't have any experience and so was not able to gain employment. Edward gives Margaret the chance. He believes she is qualified bec she loves to read like he does. Then there is the abuse of Robert his twin brother and Edward was in an accident that killed his mother and left him w only one leg. I found this book to be interesting, could hardly put down, and I loved reading about the growing relationship between Edward and Margaret.
