Journey with Dr. Joktan from his birthplace in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, to his current location in the United States. Dr. Joktan was raised in a staunchly religious Muslim home whose father was, and is, a widely known and respected teacher of Sunni Islam. In trying to please his father, he memorized the entire Qur'an, the Muslim holy book, by the time he was thirteen. Dr. Joktan relates how Christ appeared to him in a dream at night. This culminated in his surrendering his life to Christ as the Son of God and Savior of the world. I followed him through his rocky progression through medical school and how his father and family rejected him because of his newfound faith in Christ. It was gut-wrenching when his own father held a gun to his head demanding he renounce Christ and burn the New Testament. I followed him through a number of assassination attempts, instigated by his family and government - the price of daring to leave Islam. He was imprisoned, beaten, tortured, and shot at with bullets. When I first met him a little more than a year ago, his face still bore the scars of previous persecution. His face likely always will. Through it all, his faith in Christ remained unshaken. From start to finish his story is permeated with grace, love, joy, and the presence of God. - Dr. Ed Hoskins

This book is more exciting than many novels. The author tells about becoming a Christian in Saudi Arabia. He was the son of a Muslim leader. He was disowned by his family and suffered unimaginable persecution. He finally had to escape from his country and continues to reach Muslims with the Gospel.
Amazing story of God’s grace. It doesn’t matter who you are it’s availability to everyone. Am truly ashamed at how my NZ government treatment him and refused him asylum. Nor did they have any understanding of what would await him should he be sent back to his homeland
I won this book from Goodreads after reading I am to review. This book is written by Ahmed Joktan and his conversion to Christianity from Islam. Every Christian needs to read this book.
Very good and informative book. It gives an eye opening and historic perspective of the Muslim faith.
Dr Joktan’s story is harrowing, yet encouraging. He is a living example of how Jesus can reach people for His glory, even in countries where the Gospel is suppressed. His search for other believers and fellowship in Christ truly touched me. His desire to share Christ is a true example of someone living the great commission.I will recommend this to anyone who is interested in Muslim history and evangelism.
First there was Paul and then there was Ahmed! This is a stunning account of a devout Muslim's encounter with the living Christ, his conversion and subsequent work to bring others to know saving grace. I received this e-book from Goodreads.

An amazing story. Like the author says, some parts seem unbelievable. The story is good, and hard to put down, but I found the actual writing to be rather simple narrative. Possibly because his native language isn't English.
The part I found very interesting was the Appendix, which is a brief overview of the origin, and early days of Islam, and some views of Islam today. It touches on how Islam is often referred to as 'a religion of peace' and still often the source of considerable violence and terrorism throughout the world today.
A truly unbelievable story, very powerful and insightful. My encouragement when reading this book would be to read the two appendixes. They are a gold mine of insight and information on Islam. While I loved this book I listened to it on audible and really didn't care for the narrator at all.
Great read of a glorious journey. The persecution and violence he went through is unfathomable. I am thankful for the full gutwrenching and educational account. I would like to think we could all be so steadfast in the face of extreme opposition.
This is an extraordinary memoir, detailing the highest-stakes system migration imaginable. Dr. Joktan's life began running on a Legacy Protocol Stack—a rigid, high-authority religious framework where he was trained from childhood to be a high-ranking system administrator.
The narrative pivots on a dramatic Unforeseen External Interrupt (the dream/conversion) which initiates a complete Core System Refactoring. The subsequent conflict is brutal: the original system's authorities (family, government) detect the unauthorized change and launch a full-scale, violent Rollback Attempt—featuring rejection, torture, and assassination efforts designed to erase the new code.
The power of this story lies in the profound System Integrity of his newfound faith. Despite maximum stress testing—bullets, prison, a gun to his head—the new architecture holds. It is a terrifying, gut-wrenching, yet ultimately triumphant case study in Fault Tolerance, demonstrating the immense resilience and joy found when one successfully rewrites the core code of their life.
This book is one of those books that grabs you from the first page and doesn't let go. The author's story is raw, powerful and deeply inspired. You're not just reading about a life change; you're walking through his journey from the heart of Mecca to a life transformed by faith.
Captivating true story of a Muslim finding his way to Christianity in a country where it is illegal to convert. Only problem is the anti-Catholic sentiment towards the end of the book. He goes on a mission trip to the Philippines and tries to convince an old Catholic woman that she isn't really a Christian...
