Isadora Spence knows two things: 1) she’s tired of all the wars and wants them to stop and 2) she never wants to see Maximillion Sinclair again.
Sparks fly when rising desperation leads Isadora and Maximillion to attend a political delegation together in the Southern Network. She’s determined to create a pact for peace and save lives, but when events spiral into far more dangerous territory, she realizes the only witch she can trust is Maximillion.
Can they work together, or will everything fall apart?
Meanwhile, her sisterwitch Sanna is out of her depth in an unfamiliar world of volatile goddesses and buried history. Facing an unwinnable battle against Prana, the ruthless goddess of the sea, Sanna roots through history, only to discover that Prana isn’t the only enemy they face.
In a world embroiled with war on all fronts, can the sisterwitches do their part to bring peace and freedom to Antebellum? Or will all their best efforts fail in the bigger machinations of goddesses and witches?
FREEDOM is the final book in the Dragonmaster trilogy. This sweeping YA Fantasy saga will take to a new world, keep you on the edge of your seat, and ask you to answer the most impossible question of all:
My world revolves around my husband (who is a major hottie), my precious kids, my Vizsla’s who act like children, and the mountains.
I wear hiking boots instead of heels when I need to feel powerful, and on a bad day, I love a weightlifting workout. Actually, I love it on a good day.
I don’t eat bread because my thyroid doesn’t like it, although there are days I miss it. Especially ciabatta. Sweet potatoes are kind of my thing. Cookies too.
I write because I never stopped.
Author of The Network Series, The Dragonmaster Trilogy, and The Coffee Shop Series.
This book was the perfect ending to this trilogy. I couldn't stop reading and then felt like I needed to read it all over again as soon as it was over. Katie never disappoints and this was no different. My heart broke and then in the same moment was flooded with happiness. I already knew the characters were amazing and perfect from the previous books, but they evolved so much more. It shocked me, more than I can really say, that I didn't catch on to the twists! She really got me. I was so wrapped up in the story that I didn't see it and then, BAM! My only disappointment in this is that it is over. ***sigh*** I actually want to take back what I said about this being a perfect ending. This was not really an ending. It was a wonderful beginning to the changes that we see come to play in Antebellum in the Network series 100 years later. I look forward to seeing more stories evolve from this world I have grown to love so much.
Each copy should be sold with tissues! Seriously! The plot twists and turns have upset my stomach. I laughed, I cried, I smiled, and I died a little inside. Each chapter ending leaves you wanting to skip ahead to find out what happens, much like great cliffhangers in t.v. Switching between sister stories is great, but is also infuriating because I not I have to wait to find out "what does he mean?!" but then I become engrossed in what the other sister is going through !
I am at peace with this ending. The next thing to happen is Miss Label's School for Girls. HOWEVER, Katie Cross leaves room to continue the stories and stitch them together (100 years of room, in fact).
Onto the Ronan Scrolls and Chronicles of the Dragonmasters!
Just loved it Perfect ending as it tied up all the paths a bit nail biting and didn’t always go the way you thought it would but better because of that I read it after the network trilogy but if you haven’t yet, read this first as it fills in back story. Whatever way round just read these books!
Wow. Loved it! Fantastic ending to a series, tied up all the loose ends, the reveals were pretty great, and we got to see lots of magic from dragons, goddesses, Watchers, and Defenders. Probably my favorite book in the 5-book series (trilogy with 2 novellas). Definitely read Ronan Scrolls before finishing the series with Freedom though. You'll appreciate having those historical accounts when things refer to them later.
I laughed out loud, shed a few tears, and groaned in frustration along with our sister witches. They went through so much! (BTW, I still think Sanna and Isadora really should have had more time together throughout the series. For being each other's "other half of [their] heart," they spent next to no time together as the new witches they have become. Hopefully we'll get more of that in the new Sister witches series coming out.)
Maturity rating: hmmm, might be upper high school to college for my recommendation. The girls find themselves in very tense, dangerous, at times compromising circumstances and carry themselves beautifully, but there are some brief mentions of torture, abuse, death, sacrifice, subterfuge, genocide, nudity, and loss. It got pretty heavy and the stakes were high in both of their fights, so I think a more mature teen or young adult would be better able to handle all that.
An epic, beautiful and gut-wrenching conclusion to the trilogy.
For the last two books, we’ve journeyed with Isadora and Sanna as they lost so much yet strove to save so many.
Now ancient goddesses and political machinations combine to put the very future of Antebellum at risk. Isadora joins Max in a high-stakes – and deadly – game of political intrigue even as she races to unlock the secrets of Watcher magic before it’s too late. Sanna and Luteis cross the length and breadth of Antebellum in a desperate gambit to unite the dragons against the world-ending designs of a mad goddess.
For these wonderful, amazing sisters, there is heartbreak and sacrifice. There are mysteries and revelations, love and loss. Most of all, though, there is hope, courage and determination. Oh, also magic and dragons! And the finale is everything you ever imagined it could be.
Freedom is here! This is the third book in the Dragonmaster trilogy; Flame, Flight and Freedom - You don’t want to miss these books. Freedom is Katie at her best! This is a master piece. Follow Sanna and Isadora Spence through challenges and sacrifices each make in their journey to save their beloved Letum Woods and dragons. Freedom makes you love Luteis even more. And Max will also have some surprises. Freedom has twists and turns, you will not be able to put it down (you’ll also need tissues). After finishing the Dragonmaster trilogy, you must read the Network Series for more dragons, witches and magic.
I’ve been reading this amazing book series by Katie Cross… She is such a great writer, it’s really easy to lose yourself in this amazing world and lovely, unconventional and complex characters… if you want to read a great book series, this Trilogy is a great read! I went through all possible emotions! It is so easy to immerse yourself in the journey of each sister! Thank you Katie for a gorgeous trilogy!
Fast, fun, breathless and oh so satisfying! Freedom is a fantastic read, magic, dragons, adventure, I laughed, I cried, I sat on the edge of my seat as the author took me on a rollercoaster ride. No wasted words i highly recommend Freedom and the entire Dragonmasters Triology.
ve dragons, witches, magic, and swashbuckling with a touch of Gothic? Then this is the book for you! The final book in the Dragonmaster Trilogy, Freedom ties up all the ends of this three-book fantasy masterpiece. Follow the heart-stopping adventures of Sanna, her dragon, Luteis, her twin sisterwitch, Isadora, plus Lucey, Charles, Maximillion and others. And these are the good guys. Chock full of intrigue and adventure, heroines and villains, the trilogy is a mix of Medieval dragons and witches, magic, gothic intrigue with a solid dose of RenFaire. Freedom picks right up following the end of Flight. It is probably best to read Freedom after reading the first two, but Freedom stands well on its own. Reading the first two fills in the backstory and brings expanded meaning to what transpires in Freedom. Freedom, in fact all three, are two separate stories running in parallel, but the paths cross periodically throughout the saga, and eventually, everything sorts itself out. Katie Cross masterfully switches from Sanna and Luteis to Isadora and Maximillion, leaving one on tenterhooks in anticipation of what will happen next and how it will ultimately all play out.. While Freedom (and its predecessors) are billed as young adult fiction, anyone of any age can find enjoyment in this book.Do you love dragons, witches, magic, and swashbuckling with a touch of Gothic? Freedom is the final instalment of the dragonmasters trilogy. We continue the story of the twin sisters Sanna and Isadora Spence.
Isadora is thrown into a political gathering in Southern Network with the one man she never wanted to see again; Maximillion. They are part of a delegation trying to negotiate peace for all of Antebellum. Can she overcome her adversity for Maximilian, the only one she can trust out there, and help save lives?
Meanwhile Sanna and her dragon Lutius are coming to terms with being the leaders of the dragons and dragon masters. They’ll have to learn how to lead the group and rebuild their homes. Not only that but they’re pawns in the games of the goddesses. Sanna, Lutius the rest of the forest dragons have to fight a war against the goddess Prana that they seemingly can’t win.
Can Isadora help create a pact for freedom? Will Sanna be able to drum up enough dragon forces to stand a chance against Prana?
Freedom has left me on the edge of my seat until the very end, tissues close at hand. The end of this trilogy hurts a little. I’ve enjoyed the story of Sanna and Isadora throughout all books and seeing the story end is bittersweet.
Almost every emotions came to the surface while reading Freedom. I rooted for Sanna while I felt Isadora’s anger with Maximillion. I felt joy learning about reunions and sadness for friends lost in the fray.
Katie Cross did another wonderful job at creating an exciting and adventurous story for my favourite witch sisters. And while it’s sad to see this book and trilogy concluded I’m sure Katie has some more stories up her writing sleeve that take place in Antebellum and might make her readers cross paths again with Sanna and Isadora one way or another.
If you like witches, magic, dragons as well as adventures and feisty female protagonists this book, no this trilogy, is for you!
Freedom is the 3rd in a trilogy about magic and dragons. It is about 2 sisters one who is a child of the forest the other who has the magical ability to see the future. In a world where everyone has magical talents having such talents would seem to be a plus however is seems that in all worlds being different isn't all that it's cracked up to be. She must fight those who wish to destroy those few witches that have that talent. While her sister finds herself becoming the Dragonmaster to a group of forest dragons fighting a goddess who wants more power and uses sea dragons to fight the other dragons trying to take command of all the dragons. This is two stories between Sanna and Isadora the sisters who each have their own battle to fight and each finds love in different ways. It is a tense yet very rewarding book that will keep you on the edge of your seat turning pages to see what will happen next.
WOW! Just wow! Freedom is the third book in the Dragonmaster Trilogy and has totally repaid the patience required to wait for the wrap up on the story lines from the first two books, Flame and Flight. This might be the most satisfying wrap up of a series that I have ever read. I loved the series but what was better was seeing the characters and Ms Cross's skills growing with each book. I am not going to do a detailed analysis of characters or plots -- there is too much and it would be meaningless to anyone who has not read the first two books. Suffice it to say that these are wonderful books, full of adventure, magic, strong characters, and free of gratuitous sex, profanity, and violence. Having read all of Katie Cross's works to date, I must now wait to see what she will do next. This will be a tough act to follow! Highly recommended!
This book was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I opened the front cover, I did not put it down until the early hours of the morning, finished. Emotionally spent, wet from tears...
Katie Cross took the challenge of having to bring to a close three books and two incredible storylines and she did it with pure magic. It’s hard for any author to pull their readers in with a story so good that you refuse to stop reading. THIS is one of those authors and one of those books. She is a pure genius with her written word and is far and away my favorite author.
If you want magic, dragons, war and the like then this is definitely the book (series) for you! Trust me, you will LOVE it.
"Freedom didn't come from knowing the future. It came from accepting the present."
OMG. What an emotional rollercoaster!
Freedom is the stunning conclusion to the Dragonmaster trilogy. It so perfectly wraps up the story of the Spence sisters, Sanna and Isadora. I laughed, I cried, I wanted to shake some sense into the characters...but most of all, I'm left with peace and fulfillment. Katie so perfectly brings the characters to life that you can't help but feel part of the story.
I cannot recommend this series enough -- just don't forget your tissues!
This was the perfect ending to the trilogy but it could also stay by itself! It is a wonderful book filled with dragons, witches, magic, love, anger, and everything in-between. The twists and turns in the book keep you turning page after page so you can't put it down. The emotional ride was great - tears of sadness turn to tears of joy, love of characters that wrap themselves around your heart!!! You will thoroughly enjoy the book and I suggest you buy all three books to get the full effect - you won't be disappointed!!!
Freedom is magic in its own way by bringing you in to experience the challenges, betrayal, growth and love that witch sisters, Sanna and Isadora Spence, have to face on their own as they try to win a war for freedom. I totally enjoyed reading Freedom because the detail in description made me feel as though I was right there beside the sister witches, seeing what they see and feeling the emotions right along with the characters. There are twists you couldn’t see coming and a whole new world to explore. Didn’t want to leave the dragons!
First and foremost, Katie has created a magical world and relayed life stories within that world with great skill, warmth and passion. “Freedom” brings closure to the Drangonmasters Trilogy, but the characters, two legged and winged, live on within us. Do yourself a favor and read “Flame”, “Flight” and “Freedom“ (Dragonmasters Trilogy), and then immerse yourself further into Isadora and Sanna’s world in Katie’s Network Series books.
Katie Cross did it again! Freedom was a perfect ending to the Dragonmasters Trilogy. It tugged at my heart, made me ugly cry, and filled me with so much joy. I love how Katie writes and how the people in her stories connect with each other. I will forever and always recommend this trilogy to anyone who loves dragons, the world of witches, or just wants a pure story filled with so much adventure, friendship and love.
I just finished reading Freedom. The best review I can give is that when I finished, I looked through my books for the next one to start. There was not one that caught my attention. I love the story of Sanna and Isadora. I knew it would be near impossible to find a story that would draw me in as their's did. Thank you, Katie Cross for another wonderful seies.
Katie Cross delivers an incredible conclusion to the Dragon Master series with Freedom! Ms. Cross continues to deliver heart-pounding tales of dragons, witches, and magic all weaved into a beautiful story of family and friends fighting to preserve each other and the world they love.
This, and all Katie Cross books, is a must read! You will NOT be disappointed!!
What a beautiful ending to an amazing trilogy. And sad too, because it's over. Katie brought Isa, Sanna, Max, Lucey and Charles to life in a blaze. Lutieus is the dragon we would all want as a friend. Katie brought all these beautiful and talented characters together to bring us into a new world. I loved every word of it.
What an incredible end to such an amazing trilogy! I loved every moment of this story (and the first two preceeding it!) Brought me to tears a few times, and my heart was in my throat many a time in the tense moments. I loved this all the way through, expertly written and it was such a delight to read! I can't wait to read more about these characters, I love every single one of them!
I was drawn right in from the get go. This book is so well written that I was there, I could almost smell the forest. Your heart will pound with excitement and you may even cry a time or two. Seriously, you NEED this book in your life.
The first book of this series was so delightful, then the second book I struggled through more and this book was a struggle from the beginning. I was so excited but just had a hard time getting interested. I don't know if it's me or the series but it just wasn't for me.
I could not put this installment down. I felt the rush of emotions, frustration and yes tears, all the way through. Looking forward to reading another of this author's series.
Five Stars. Loved it. The climax of the trilogy of stories of the sisters Sanna and Isadora was exciting and did an excellent job of compelling my attention. Great story. Great trilogy. Great author. Loved it!!!
What a brilliant book and series. Sanna and Isadora, twins. Letum Wood where they live. Dragon Luteis who bonds with Sanna. Isadora who has the gift of sight. Fantastic book. What an absolutely fantastic series this is.
Having made it to the end of "Freedom", I must say this is really a very good story. I read all three straight through. It was such a clean story with no holes, and held my interest throughout. I look forward to reading the next series. Look out Miss Mable.
