Bridge and Nicole are hired to find five million dollars worth of missing diamonds. Their search for the missing diamonds take them to Los Angeles, Brazil, and finally Puerto Rico and puts them in direct conflict with a major drug operation, the leader of which is suspected of stealing the jewels.
But all is not what it seems, and after coming up empty in their search, Bridge and Nicole have to pivot with their suspects. Maybe the thief has been much closer to them all along.

I find the Extractor series and refreshing break from the intensity of the suspense thrillers and crime stories I enjoy. This series reminds me of a mix the action/adventure shows such as McGyver, Hunter and the A-Team all rolled up into one. The light hearted banter and romantic chemistry between Luke Bridge (aka The Extractor) and his partner Nikki makes this series stand out as a fun and fast paced read. They are very clever at getting out of dicey situations they find themselves in while carrying out missions and this story is no different. I found myself laughing in several parts as I read the book especially from the dialogue between those two. If you're looking for balance in your reading from those edge of your seat thrillers, this series is worth a look and is recommended.
The banter between Bridge and Nicole was kinda entertaining in the first book of the series, before they were a couple… but it’s way overdone in this second book and becomes tiresome. While the storyline is also a good one, sex seems to be the driving force in this series… Nicole is the star of this book and Bridge appears to be the stereotypical bumbling sleuth… trying to find the diamonds and solve the mystery. Is it a good one??? (Perhaps if you’re a teenager?)
As long as the action is happening the book moves along in an entertaining fashion. However the two main characters interact with each other like emotionally immature highschool kids when it comes to their romantic involvement. It’s distracting to the flow of the book and just plain annoying. Seriously, it’s like listening to 16 year olds with their petty jealousies. I thought it might get better in book 2 of the series, but it’s as bad or worse. I won’t bother with the rest of the series.
I am writing this review for readers, not the author. I LOVED the first book banter between Luke & Nicole but this second book is exhausting with it. She is overpowering and it's just way too much. I'm also annoyed at "rolled his/her eyes" and "her boyfriend/his girlfriend" references. Overkill to say the least. The seriousness of their mission is reduced to a side-story to their "love story." I love the narrator and the overall story, so I probably will continue with the series. I wish they were still just working together though.
Another fast moving action story with Luke and Nicole, with even more banter and innuendo now that they are very much partners in every sense. As always with Mike Ryan, the action is non stop with te couple getting into all sorts of difficult situations, but getting themselves out in the end. Mant more such scenarios ahead no doubt.
Boy am I finished. I'm totally tired of the meaningless sexual banter. Do it or don't but stop teasing about it. I couldn't finish a story about a hunt for stolen diamonds in which the hunters don't even know whether they've got the right thief. Not only am I done with this book I'm done with the series.
Well, I managed to get through 2 of this series before I decided to stop. Very basic characters, not much action, and way too much lovey dovey crap. If I wanted to read that, I'd buy romance novels. Within 2 chapters of this book part way through it, the main characters had sex 5 times. No longer interested in this series.
Unfortunately, this second book follows the very immature love affair between our hero and heroine, Luke and Nicole. Their childish/teenage banter spoils a rather good mystery. In Past Dead they have been hired to find extremely valuable diamonds. The search ends them in Brazil.
This team has worked before!!! Former spies from FB I and CIA are using their former services to wield their expertise in specialized services for a modest pay
2nd in a series, the story gets moving to Spain and the stakes get higher with a search for the "dude" behind a large sex trafficking ring with multiple women at risk. Can they find them?
Exciting plot and interesting characters, lotsa gun play. Some profanity, lotsa sexual interplay (some too well described — use fast forward). Narrator is excellent and adds to the story.
The storylines are decent, but the banter between the main characters make it a nearly impossible slog. Only continuing because I've already purchased the first 3 books in the series. I don't plan to continue the series after book #3.
