Avery went against everything to be with Ky. Her sister Ivy, who she loved more than anyone in the world and Vant who had taken care of her like she was his own blood, told her for years Ky was no good. Their relationship didn’t start ideally, but the love she had for him began long before they became public to the world. What was once a fairytale turned into a nightmare, and Avery felt like it was karma. She didn’t have any business being with Ky then, and the torment she had been put through showed they weren’t meant to be together presently.
Lake Porter, a man who dedicated his life to taking care of his brothers and living by his father’s word, finally catches up to the feelings he tried so hard to fight. Love wasn’t in the cards for him, and he had come to terms with that until a prissy, sometimes crazy, vibrant woman, shows him that he isn’t so cold and his heart did pump. She isn’t fazed by his mean persona and deadly dark eyes. Lake out of his comfort zone, and in the presence of a woman so alluring with energy so contagious, finds himself at the end of a bullet from the love gun. He quickly finds out that being with the woman of his choosing comes with baggage that he doesn’t mind carrying. But will Lake be able to break her from the curse that is his sworn enemy?
When entering the world of my books. Dive in with an open mind and heart. Leave your expectations at the cover and go on the journey with my characters. I hope it’s one you can enjoy.🤎
Not only are these Porter Brothers crazy…but, they’re funny as hell…This is my first read from this author….I’m love this first book….I read the story out of order so I’m going back to see how it all began….perhaps I’ll get a better understanding of Ivy and Avery…because these sisters have some serious issues.
Well, after reading FSP, I was convinced the Porters were a lost cause. But after reading this, I can say there is hope. I can see the growth, however small it was. And it was small growth. Avery is all grown up now, and boy, did she get under my skin. Both her and her sister Ivy have a mild temper, but due to their childhood trauma, I’ll extend the grace. We got to know Lake more in this installment, and he’s a gentle giant. He’s quiet, reserved, and collected…unless poked or you come after his brothers. I know a book friend who’s gonna wanna throw hands about Lake after I say this, but Lake is slowly making his way into my heart 🤪 There’s a storm brewing with Mucci, and the author is doing a fantastic job being so cryptic about it. I'm definitely looking forward to continuing to get to know the boys as they mature and enter real adulthood. Cause Vant just has to be better. He just has to. But, despite how wild, crazy, crass, and inappropriate these Porter boys are, they are growing on me.
I have never read a more chaotic book than this one and that is putting it nicely. I’m stunned that it has so many positive reviews. I could barely make it through the first few chapters.
This series was soon good the Author definitely should of been a comedian that's how funny it was. The Characters in this book was incredible the story line wasn't predictable st all.... Please check this book out
I am honestly so surprised by the number of people who love and swear by this book. I almost DNF’d it simply because of the grammatical errors and the fact that the main character was so annoying and immature. It’s like Avery had no business even being in a relationship with someone like Lake if she was going to act like a toddler with a temper the whole book who was literally constantly screaming (in and out of the bed). The good part is that this leaves room for growth and character development, which I hope this author achieves in the other books. I’ll never know since I won’t be reading.
Everyone is on my last nerve!! Omg! But I'm locked in!! The only person I like is Ivy! Everyone else can go lol! Nina left us on a huge cliff and I'm about to dive into book 2! Also, why does Mucci know this man?!?
Once I started this book, I couldn't tear myself away! The love that bloomed between these pages for this unlikely pair had me on the edge of my seat since the moment Avery made Lake laugh!
The book explores themes of mental health against the backdrop of family trauma, making it a poignant and thought-provoking read. The multiple perspectives offered by the characters add depth to the storytelling.
Overall, On Us is a captivating read that blends drama, romance, and family dynamics seamlessly. Nina's ability to draw readers into the world of the Porters is nothing short of impressive.
Let me say first that I Lovvvvvvvve Lake. Second, this book is a banger, a page turner, I mean Nina straight cane out the gate dropping straight fire 🔥 Ok... Can’t even front she did her thing well.. I loved this book from start to finish. I don’t wanna give spoilers so I’m just telling y’all... If you don’t read this book you are doing yourself a massive injustice. On another note Vant pissed me off fr and Sav too. I can’t believe this book is over.. I want more!!!!
Clutching my non existent pearls!!!!! OMG!!!! This book is like a good @$$ series on STARZ. I cannot with that ending!!! Lord this was a good book! The drama, the brotherhood and the betrayal! These secrets run deep and I need every one of them exposed. Ish is getting real!!! These characters are everything!! And like another review said, Nina needs to be a comedian because the way this book has me cackling is like no other! Ready for book 2!
Yo, the characters in this book are wiiiild. No other way to put it. Still very toxic, but also suspenseful and very intriguing. I am glad I continued to read past Front St. Porter and will definitely finish the series. This puts me in the mind of an actual tv series. I’m on edge.
I was not expecting to Love the Porters like this omg. I loved this way more than Front St.
These brothers got me in a chokehold damn. I couldn’t stand Lake ass but now he my man & I’m standing on that. Never thought we could get THIS LAKE. Nina really ate this one. The way his scenes had me giggling and screaming was crazy.
I laughed so much reading this!! Sav is my favorite fr😆He says what everyone else is afraid to say.
The characters in this book are TOXIC, hypocritical, and confusing. There’s not a lot of character development or progression and as characters their personalities aren’t really fleshed out. At times their actions don’t match with the little bit of personality that they do have.
With professional editing this book has potential. But without professional editing it reads like a rough draft. There’s a lot of confusion about who’s talking, what people’s ages are, or what action was done by who. But if you ignore that or can overlook it, On Us is an okay read.
Nina’s ability to pull me into this story was uncanny, but once I was in, I was all in. The Porters. What a family and what a family dynamic. Lots of trauma stemming from the sins of their father. This book covered a lot of different issues; mental health being the backdrop of it all. This made it hard to put down. The different POVs were easy to follow and keeps you locked as the story unravels. This book gives all the feels.
This is such bad writing. I read lemon and pepper by Nina and It was a decent read it so I thought I’ll give her other books a shot but God was this a tough read. It’s really childish writing, no plot and none of the characters are thoroughly fleshed out. Super degrading and misogynistic. I was really shocked by the amount of 5 stars. This book is soo bad that I need to cleanse my palate. None of the female characters have a backbone. I was just rolling my eyes throughout. I really do not recommend.
This is like watching a crazy movie and you just need to know that the hell is gunna happen yet. If they are going to learn from their mistakes! This touches on a lot of deep issues that made cry and emotional but can’t wait to read the next one . This needed on q cliff hanger!
This book had a different vibe than Front Street Porter and I’m glad because I don’t know if I could stomach all the drama and toxicity in both books. Dem and especially Sav are still reckless as hell but it appears as if the brothers are slowly growing and maturing. I’m so happy that Lake found that one and praying that him and Avery are a success by the end of the series. I’m still trying to figure out what’s up with Mucci, that part of the story is being dragged all the way out. Another solid read and I like that this book had a little bit more of a comedic aspect or it’s just hitting a little different in this one. On to the next.
The emergence of Lake as a GROWN man throughout this series keeps me coming back for more. All of the brothers are learning and becoming their own man. However, there always seems to be something that draws the family into foolishness. I’m ready for On Us 2
Look I am locked in!! The Porter boys have grown up, but are still so childish. Let's start with fake careless as$ Vant. I was so tired of him. I just did not understand why he insisted on moving so messy. Ivy was finally able to bless him and he continued to disrespect her. The fact that he understood what he had was special, but chose to be reckless was beyond me. Uugh so sick of him. Wreck was chill this book. He quietly pursued Gia, but gone was the crazy shoot em up Wreck. Now Sav and Dem were another story, they were wild and living their best hoe lives. Sav was now more out of control than Dem. The young boys both were protective over Lake, as they saw him change over Avery. Especially Sav. Lake and Avery, I just did not call this pairing at all. Lake swore he didn't like young girls, but Avery was a grown woman now. After seeing her for the first time in years their immediate connection threw him off. Again I felt sorry for him, because he was experiencing teenager firsts and he didn't know how to navigate it. On top of that he couldn't fully pursue Avery because she was in a toxic situation that it seemed like she didn't know how to get out of. Lastly snake as$ Ky got on my nerves this entire book. All he did was make excuses. He clearly had some health issues that his family ignored, which smh. The way he handled Avery and the bm was disgusting. Key was trash too. I can't wait to get to the bottom of his beef with Lake and for all his mess to be exposed.
On Us was an urban fiction love story. Some of the dialects I assumed were regional, so I did not always understand the terminology. The information, however, was a mixture of love, lust, infidelity, and poor decisions by most of the male characters. I'll see how this one ends, as it will be interesting to see how this hullablew ends..... Whew!
4.25 🌟 I am sooooo investing in this series now and already started “On Us 2” because that cliffhanger had me needing more! I'm glad I decided to continue with the Porters and all their shenanigans, toxicity and comical antics. Sav is definitely the funniest one of all his brothers, but they all say some off the wall sh*t that will have you legit laughing out loud.
This time around I honestly just wasn't here for Ivy and Avery batsh*t crazy behavior, especially Avery with the complicated ass situation she had going on smh. Hopefully Avery gets some therapy alongside Ivy because they both honestly need it to work through all their past trauma (and current trauma too tbh). But I was all the way here for Lake slowly coming outta his shell and showing more of his personality. He deserves genuine love and someone there for him the way he has always been for his brothers; Avery better not f*ck it up or I'll never forgive her, straight like that!
Ky was already in the doghouse when this book started, but that ending cemented the fact that he really a “ain't sh*t ninja” for life. There ain't no coming back from his past, present or future actions and I already know the Porters about to be out for blood, rightfully so.
All in all, if you were turned off by “Front St. Porter” like I kinda was, don't give up on this series because it is top-tier urban fiction/urban romance and Nina's pen game is legit! I only wish I could get physical copies of these books. 😢
This has got to be the best series I read in a long time. She wrote the heck out of this. She has definitely made her mark in the literary world. Lake is just THE MAN!!! Like you have to love him. I didn't see him and Avery but to see this unfold is everything. This is one bomb ass series. Please hurry with the next part
This book started out okay, but eventually fell short for me. Avery was so immature and her behavior was silly and embarrassing. I really wish Avery lived up to what the author was trying to portray her as, and not the silly confused damsel that I read about. The author's overall concept was very intriguing, but in my opinion the book fell flat.
I am so happy Lake gets to FEEL something. He deserves to love and be loved. The situation is not ideal but he deserves it. The end of this book had me on the edge of my seat. SO MUCH GOING ON! I am so glad that I read Front St. Porter first so I knew the history between all the characters. I finished this in less than 24 hours - I couldn’t put it down.
