Barbarous #4

Barbarous, Chapter 4

Rate this book
In another life, Persephone Mori was the top of her class at the Academy, the branch of ALMIA responsible for training young minds in the practice of magic. That was then. Now, she's assistant to Leeds, the beastly superintendent of an apartment building, and she likes that her new job keeps her busy enough to forget that she's a wizard college dropout. Well... usually.

Lately, Leeds has been preoccupied with her connection to the Academy, putting their budding friendship at a simmer. Percy's trying to keep her cool, but she's no saint, and it's only a matter of time before things between them get explosive.

Oooh, the end of the chapter gives us a little bit of juicy intrigue, that I am so interested in! A glimpse more into the Pillars, and why the Pillars might not be what Percy thinks them to be. We also see a bit more into Percy's past; she used to be a top student in her class and was one of the elites and a former rich kid. Also, this chapter has less of, but still some pages with that gorgeous unconventional color palette! I like that Leeds and Percy's relationship is slowly growing as each chapter goes by. It's nice to see two clashing personalities slowly get to know one another and understand each other.

As usual - stunning covers, great art in general, love the characters. This is another solid chapter where we keep getting glimpses of Percy's past and Leeds is dropping some hints to his old life, too - though we don't have a lot to go on yet.

This chapter also includes some of favorite pages, mainly the loupe scene where we learn about abstract planes. Pretty visuals and fascinating new ideas presented this way are combination that has me absolutely hooked for more.

I rarely care for urban fantasy, but the writing, art and worldbuilding in this series is so charming. It's one of my favorite webcomics and I always eagerly wait for the next update.
