Former lieutenant Kingsley Boissonneault returns to The Chateau in this sequel novella to Tiffany Reisz’s bestselling romantic suspense novel.

The cult’s holy book is Story of O, the infamous French novel of extreme sado-masochism. Their château is a looking-glass world where women reign and men are their willing slaves.

Lieutenant Kingsley Boissonneault once spent a month inside its walls, experiencing pleasure and pain beyond imagining. He swore he would never go back…until now.

Previously published as “The Story of Ø” in the limited-edition, signed-and-numbered hardcover edition of The Chateau.

They do look pretty together.

What a wonderful surprise this was!

This novella is something I've always wanted, and now it's exactly what I needed to read.

This might be the story of Kingsley's return to the chateau, but really it's a Kingsley and Søren novella and as such it was a most welcome treat.

Stories of Kingsley and Søren's romance always make for a great read. Stories about Kingsley in general do. Stories of people being mean to Søren do too, and this Madam was a tricky one.

Too bad this was only a novella. The story just flew by. Probably because

I loved it!

This is a very short tiny sequel to The Chateau. Seriously, it's so small my paperback could hardly be called a book, haha. But nevermind, if it has Søren and Kingsley on an adventure together, then it's definitely worth reading. As usual with these novellas, we learned some more from the past, and I'm always eager for more tidbits from Søren and Kingsley's teenage years together.

Søren kissed him.
For a split-second Kingsley was disoriented to be kissed like that, just kissed. Instinctively he knew it was a trick but he didn't care. He opened his mouth to the kiss, the pressure of the lips and the tongue on his tongue. Then he felt Søren's hand on the back oh his neck, gripping him. And then Søren's other hand on his throat, pressing.
The kiss went on but as it deepened so did the pressure of Søren's fingers on Kingsley's neck, the pressure of his palm on his larynx. The kiss started to hurt. Badly. Badly enough sounds escaped Kingsley's throat that, even to his own ears, reminded him of the whimpers of injured animals. How did Søren do that? Turn a kiss into cruelty? and why Kingsley love it so much? Becuase it was so cruel? Of course, even cruel, it was still a kiss?

I didn't much care for Madame or Colette but I immensely enjoyed Søren being a petty bitch to them. You can count to be on Søren's shit list if you ever dared lie one finger on Kingsley with any intention of harm. Also, I always love to read about Søren and Kingsley just being unapologetically them!

"You're really not going to tell me what lie you told her last night?"
"I'll give you a choice. I'll either tell you what the lie is or... I'll fuck you tonight until you forget you ever saw that chateau."
"You would have to literally fuck my brains out to make me forget the chateau. You would have to do unconscionable things to me. I would have to be broken.
Laws would have to be broken. God would be offended by what you'd have to do to me. Fuck, Satan would be offended."
"Yes, and that's exactly what I'm offering. I'll tell you my lie.
Or I do such things to you to make the devil clutch his pearls. What will it be?"

Tiffany Reisz's writing is always fabulous. Every single time that I read any of her books, I wish that I had half the skill that she has. Love love her.

This novella was a gift, especially since it features Kingsley, my favorite! I'd basically read anything that has Søren x Kingsley moments in them. I'm always up for more S x K crumbs as they're my OTP in this series. I just love them together.

I will be 70 years old and still hopelessly in love with these books and characters, I swear it. Consistently nothing but greatness. Any time with Søren and Kingsley (and lets not forget Nora even though she’s not in this book), is time well spent, no matter how short. I savour every word, and am rewarded with perfection, each and every time.

"You can’t make me not love you although you do a fucking great job trying.”
This novella, follow-up to Tiffany Reisz's The Chateau, left me speechless. I'm in awe of the atmosphere, the strength of the characters, and the masterly performance. One master, two, three...can you imagine where this went? No, you just can't. My mind is blown.
I'm going back to the series ASAP.

Kingsley takes Soren with him back to the Chateau. In this story there's a oneupmanship going on between the Madame and Soren. We learn more about the manipulation of Soren's father, and Soren's thoughts and feelings regarding Kingsley in the early years. Soren may be a sadist, but he's not without feelings. He just didn't openly display them, or let others manipulate him because of them.

I wish the story was longer because I go through Original Sinner withdrawals. However I'm thrilled with what I can get when I get it!

Ok so I caved and bought the sequel. I was shocked at how tiny this book was when it got delivered. Definitely worth the read if you finished the first book; wraps up the story nicely.

Let me start by saying, I adore Kingsley. I always have and always will. And this book had me grinning from ear to ear. The whole Original Sinners Series is amazing, and if you haven't read it yet, I have to wonder why you're reading this review or anything else for that matter, and not devouring those books, because you should. Anyway, back to The Return. The book centers around Kingsley and Soren. They return (hence the name) to a place Kingsley visited long ago. A place that caused Kingsley great pain, and not always in the fun way. Soren and Madame have a battle of wits, sadist vs sadist, as Kingsley listens. There is no shortage of great banter, both between Soren and Kingsley and Soren and Madame. You, like Kingsley, gain a lot of insight into Soren and his feelings for Kingsley. The Return is witty, entertaining, sexy, and features the same superb writing I've come to expect from Tiffany Reisz. Make sure you read The Chateau before this one so you know the backstory, but definitely pick it up. You won't be sorry.

3.75 stars. M/M erotica novella although I hesitate with that label. This is not a standalone.
This series is an absolute favorite but I loved in particular the Siren and the Château while absolutely hated the King which almost destroyed King for me. So I couldn’t resist going back to the Chateau especially when the story was exclusively focused on Soren and King! A rarity.

Soren was the one who always drew me to this series even when he makes only brief appearances. I adore his character except for the inexplicable Grace thing.
And I was always hungry for any scenes between him and King. I wish the author wrote more M/M especially between Soren and King. I wish she would also be more explicit in her M/M scenes as she is with M/F.
This is the first book that is purely M/M and solely focused on the relationship between Soren and King.
But as per usual this book isn’t as explicit as it starts after a night of passion between them (sigh!) and next we are treated to only one flash back night of passion between young Soren and King that is moderate in steam as the details are shallow (again!)

What I liked most is the little glimpses of love and care that Soren finally doles on King.
I have to say that I was never a true fan of Eleanor and her childish ways and it was always so frustrating to me why Soren is so much kinder to her than King as lovers.

The battle of will between the Madame and Soren was generally good. There wasn’t a lot of new insights gained but if there was we are now left wondering along with King!

I needed this. I needed a Søren and Kingsley story, uninterrupted, with their love as the focus. I’ve often expressed my irritation with Søren’s lack of tenderness towards King over the years so there something cathartic and insanely satisfying about this book.

Søren’s character is ever the same with small changes - maybe his age is loosening him up some? Regardless, I love it. I love how life has shaped him and how he’s more relaxed and more willing to give and show love to King. This novella helped clear up a few things about their past together and everything just seemed to fall in place.

Kingsley is thee King. King of wit. King of sex. King of dramatic interjections. Kingsley will always reign supreme. It's easy to hold a soft spot for Kingsley. He's passionate, funny, and always promises a good time.

Tiffany Reisz is my favorite for a reason. She possesses solid writing skills and dreams up amazing characters and insane circumstances. This novella was nothing short of amazing, I only wish it was longer!

While the greedy person that I am wishes this had been a full-length novel, this short-story is a perfect reminder of what makes Kingsley who he is.

I loved how it bounced back between the "present day" conversation between Søren and Madame while also allowing us to see glimpses of Søren and Kingsley as they had been as teenagers in their secret hermitage. As much as I thought I knew of those two (and even from the glimpses we had seen in prior novels), this novella managed to add even more depth and yet another layer to the complicated onion that is their relationship.

Those of you who haven't read any of the prior Original Sinner novels will no doubt be completely lost with this one as it's hard to convey the complexity of the love these characters share for one another in such short amountof time. However, for established fans of this series, this is a wonderful glimpse into the love Søren and Kingsley share. I would read more from this author.

Reading about Søren in his youth, namely in the school he attended with King, honestly can damage your image of him. Well, not mine, but he sure tries to be hated a lot, he has NO calm whatsoever, he’s CRUEL and heartless and holy shit, the things he says makes me slap myself because wow Kingsley I know you’re the biggest masochist this world has ever met but you got some fucking bone enduring his words (note how I didn’t say the pain)

However, present Søren I will always long for. He can be so kind and cruel at the same time and ah, it’s always so hard to explain him and his persona. He’d be the god I’d be glad to serve. Perhaps that works. Jesus, I wish I could tell you what it does to me when these two meet eyes.

Speechless as always

When you do not think you could love characters more. The way Tiffany writes of Soren and Kingsley is unbelievable. I can never get enough and I hope their stories go on. The Return, like all of Tiffany’s stories, is a must read for Sinners fans. And of you have not read anything of Tiffany’s before, shame on you and go start reading them all now. She does not disappoint.

Any time I get to spend in the Original Sinners world makes me giddy. Especially if Kingsley is involved. This novella gives us a further glimpse into the loving but complicated relationship of Søren and King. For once, we get a glimpse of the (almost) vulnerable and (almost) soft side of Søren. The short story is filled with wit, love and the glorious BDSM scenes no one writes like Tiffany Reisz. The Return is the perfect complement to the Chateau.

The Chaeteau is one of my favourite Original Sinners tales (and I was thrilled to find a line from my review quoted in the opening of The Return in 'Praise for the Chateu'), so I was very excited to return to the Chateau with Kingsley, this time with Soren in tow (or in the lead, I should say). Soren and The Madame face-off, and it. is. riveting.

Ah Kingsley is my favorite Frenchman of all time! And Søren, my favorite Dane, I think. But both together on an “adventure” into Kingsley’s past? Yes! I LOVED The Chateaú, so a follow up to it was a grand surprise. Great short story. Anything from the Original Sinners, I’ll read. Yes, Miss Nora, YES!

Gads, if you aren't sick of me gushing over these books yet, then you are as addicted as I am! As I have said before, I adore anything that delves deeper into the relationship between Soren and Kingsley. There is so much depth to it, so much love, so much angst, so much history, and it is so FREAKING FASCINATING.

In this little novella, we have Soren and Kingsley traveling to the Chateau where Kingsley had been briefly 'detained' years ago (back during the time period when he had joined the Legion after vanishing from Soren's life after taking his sister's 'body' back to France) by the sadistic woman who ran the pleasure house there. The female dominated pleasure house. Apparently Soren wants to meet this woman. Because he is the only one allowed to hurt Kingsley. Sigh. Swoon. Drool.

There is so much to love in this little book. I love the repartee between Madame and Soren as they converse alone (with Kingsley eavesdropping outside the door like the ex-spy he is, of course). Madame refuses to see Kingsley unless Soren agrees to answer any and all questions she puts to him for a period of forty minutes. The two of them are smart, clever, and sadistic as hell. It's glorious. And we get taken back to when Soren and Kingsley were young and still in school together, the 'beginning' of their relationship. It is absolutely fascinating to me the evolution of their relationship over the years. How different the two of them are then, individually, from how they are now as middle aged men. They have both changed and grown so much as individuals. And how different they are, together, back then, compared to now. The way this book bounces back and forth between the two time periods really accentuates these differences.

And the writing, as usual, is *chef's kiss*. Spectacular. Funny, touching, hot, sexy, smokin (did I mention HOT?!). The love these two have for each other is on every page and shines like a blue flame. Kingsley with his unending, slave-like open devotion to Soren. And then there is the golden god himself. Soren. Who isn't always open or expressive about his love. But when he does say something...I am ABSOLUTELY FLOORED. How he can express so much feeling with so few words (and actions sometimes) just leaves me in a puddle on the ground. Always.

This was a thoroughly enjoyable read. I mean, how can it not be? Kingsley and Soren is always a win. A showdown between two immensely talented sadists (who will come out 'on top'?). More Kingsley and Soren backstory. And did I mention Kingsley and Soren? Alone. Together. In France.

Swoon. Another one for the keeper shelf!

The one lie concerns Jassa
This is a guess but I'm pretty confident. Given the care taken with Soren's answers re- Jassa, I do believe there was intercourse; only Soren was topped. And Yes, it happened only one time; the night before he left India. Hoping @Tiffany Reisz confirms in book 11.
