I'm not a fan of his at all. I find him condescending towards women (who are probably his target market). At one point, he says something about when a man walks into the house after a hard day of work, he just wants to relax for a while. His wife's instinct, though, is to rush at him and start nattering at him. Huh??? He's lucky he's not married to me or I'd have to kill him!!

I only read this book because he talks about the cleansing program I'm doing and loving! His exercise program is a joke (re the bounce, shake and flex). Reading this book made me like him less but it help me understand the cleansing program better.

My question is there something can measure our brain chemistry daily?

1) Dopamine is the chemical that provides clarity, energy, and motivation.

2) Serotonin comfort, contentment andd optimism. the chemical that relaxes us note the body produces serotonin in the morning and for women to eat breakfast is very important.

3) Oxytocin is released when women (tending and befriending) produces a calming effect. Shopping in an unhurried manner is a good treat for women oxytocin and

4) Endorphins is the things that inspire us. Jogging can produce happy endorphins

I came across this book after several months of reading about organic and all-natural foods and remedies for illnessess. I was on a quest and I really enjoyed reading this book which adresses the functions of the brain and the chemicals it makes. I found it's information very interesting and enlightening. Then I found it empowering because there were suggestions made that were do-able and effective!

I really liked this book. It may need some updating, but it reinforces the differences between men and women on a biological level and explains why, for example, women reap more benefits from working out early in the day rather than later. It discusses a lot on how to prevent hormonal fluctuations, etc.

This man doesn’t know a thing about medicine, nutrition or women. Full of wrong information and sexism. Aloe vera juice?? Taking to a Therapist can sometimes be an expensive replacement for eating a healthy breakfast?? When blood sugar drops, a woman experiences temporary amnesia and forgets every good thing a man has ever done? He can go fuck himself.

I’m obsessed this is one of the stupidest books i’ve ever read. I kept recording myself reading out parts of it and sending it to people. Biological essentialism, boils
down all these problems to men having low dopamine and women having low serotonin. Men have low dopamine so they buy guns and forget important things and drives too fast! He forgets to listen and interrupts! Men go into their caves!
And naturally he has the solution through diet advice.
It would be possible to talk about the actual flaws in the theories presented and the arguments for them, but that feels like too much effort given away from how blindingly silly this whole book was, i think.

“trying to be helpful in some friendly manner increases his serotonin levels but lowers his testosterone” skdhsjsgakaj

Just finished the interesting book: The Mars & Venus diet & exercise solution by Dr. John Gray

One of the must read books for everyone no matter how old and what gender, It explains how nutrition, movement, and communication uniquely influence men’s and women’s brain chemistry, affecting mood, energy, romance, and stress relief.. although it is deep in some chapters, as it talks about medicines and supplements, yet it is very helpful. I haven’t tried any of the plans proposed in the book as of now, but planning to, this is my 2nd book of Dr. Gray, and I shall read the full collection, for his writings are simple yet impactful

I found this to be quite interesting, and perhaps helpful in understanding myself and my loved ones, especially Chris. Still, finding understanding in the heat of the moment is a different task altogether.

I think there are a lot of valid points about the connection between mental illness and diet, and many of Dr. Gray's findings echoed things I had discovered in my own body, it is always nice to have a professional tell you what you think you know to be true.

I recommend reading this, I had been resistant to his books before, I dislike the gimmicky aspect, but now I am eager to check out some more. I especially found his observations on exercise that is productive for males or females interesting. All in all, this book made me more apt to embrace my femaleness, whether or not that is always for the better remains unclear.

I am all about finding ways to boost my brain so that eating right and boosting metabolism is easy. I like that he has basically three steps to do and they are easy. I would have liked a little more detail in the ingredients and quantities of the ingredients.

I learned a lot about brain chemistry and how food plays a huge role in how our bodies balance that brain chemistry.
