Ideas for Kids While at Home

This picture book is meant to give younger children ideas of what they can do while they have to stay home. Of course, this stems from our current quarantine with children being kept home from school, but on the first page, the author also suggested it could be used when a child is sick or otherwise has to stay home. A page of rhyming text alternates with one of graphics that relate to the text. The rhyming certainly is not perfectly done, sometimes annoyingly so: not all are true rhymes, some are awkward, and sometimes the lines do not scan correctly in terms of cadence. I thought some illustrations seemed to promote what could be dangerous play, like the picture of the little girl standing on top of a cardboard box. A box like that may not support a child's weight. This book did have some ideas about what to do while you have to stay at home. At the end of the book, the author gave us a summary list of ideas with a few new ones added. They also included coloring pages so the child could do a little activity just from the book itself.

I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

This book is written for stay at home days. It is full of ideas that are terrific for every energy level of child. The storyline is easy to read and engaging. The illustrations are vivid and exciting. Remember to look for the hidden hearts throughout.
You can talk with friends and family over the phone. Viruses like to stick around and be mean. So stay safe and be clean.
You can build a castle. There's a wonderful picture of theirs. What will yours look like? You can make your own board game or a "Ninja" obstacle course. There are many more ideas inside. Which will you do first?
Happy playing!!

A great book about the pandemic and the impact on our lives. I have read a couple of them and this one focuses on what to do while staying at home. It also has a summary of the measures we need to take to stay free of the virus and at the end, it has several colouring pictures. It also has the answer to the hidden hearts in the pages of the book
The best thing about this pandemic is that families are getting together at home when they normally are too busy, and they don’t pass good time together.

This is a quick read about staying at home, it gives ideas to children and parents about what they can go whilst stuck at home. It has good illustrations and is written in a rhyming style which give the book a nice flow. My child enjoyed it so much that we read it again straight after the first read through.

This is a great book for kids. My 2yr. old grandson liked the pictures and the rhyming lines. It has great ideas of things to do. I would recommend this book for everyone who is bored or just needs something different to do.
