She’s a She-Orc on the streets, and a Princess in the sheets…Ymir has heard rumors of possible trouble with the merfolk because the fish people are not to be trusted. But everyone's favorite barbarian turned scholar has other things to worry about. He's working on forging another ring, running a business, and studying for his alchemy exams.
The women of Old Ironbound aren’t making that easy.
There's a greedy fairy who won't take no for an answer, his dwarven girlfriend is sampling aphrodisiacs, and now Gatha, the she-orc librarian, is showing some interest in him—but only if he can defeat her in battle. Meanwhile, the seas around the Majestrial Collegium Universitas are boiling with trouble. Someone is coming for an ancient artifact inside the Librarium Citadel, and if they get it, the continent of Thera will never be the same again.
Barbarian Alchemist is a steamy slice-of-life harem adventure in a magic university on another world. The story burns slow and hot, as hot as the depraved women in Ymir’s life. The sex scenes are explicit. You’ve been warned. Enter a brand-new world from Aaron Crash, the bestselling author of the American Dragon series.
My feelings on Della as one of the characters we get to see through the eyes of is mixed. On one hand, I think the potential for her character can be so interesting and one of the best characters. She is clearly, a very flawed and unique character. She has clearly been through some shit in her life and the position that she holds in the school can lead to a lot of world building and political intrigue. But instead every single time we switch the her perspective it's always reduce to sex. Whether pondering if to have a physical relationship with someone or remembering old sexual experiences, her perspective always relates to sex.
Every time we dive into her past we get somewhat of a taste of the events that happened to her and how they relate to the problems that are currently happening in this book but everything is just muddled with sex. Look is not like I am against Della having sex but I don't want every time we switch to her perspective, she has to be thinking of sex. She is the princept. A person of real importance. Yes sex is fun, but learning about her past (even just small bits) would be even more interesting. Della's character is so interesting, but at least for me, her character is being ruined by all this sex stuff. Time and place. She had her thing with her lover, and after the first sex scene we can assume she is having sex. God dam, not every time we switch to her we need to hear about sex.
To me, if we use her perspective to build the political intrigue of the world and slowly unravel the mysteries of not only Old Ironbound but the secrets of the world's history and past, this story would been 100 times better. She is a character that can be used to explain the mysteries of the school and build upon the fascinating lore of this world yet she is reduced to a horny MILF. It is fun for a while but ultimately disappointing.
Also, I think Ymir is taking a backseat in this story. I get the author wanted to show the development of other characters but to me I didn't like the fact that Ymir kinda felt overshadowed. I know this is a case by case basis and not everyone is gonna think the same as me but I kinda wanted Ymir to help with the girls problem. I am not saying it is a bad thing that the girls were trying to find their own way, I am just saying I wish Ymir was a little bit more active in assisting with their issues.
But overall I enjoyed this book a bit more than the other two. There was a lot of scheming, a lot of mystery (which I find to be the best part of this series) and way too much sex.
The barbarian Ymir of the Black Wolf Clan was back at the magic university for his 2nd year and with him were his female lovers Jenny, Lillee and Toriah, a human princess, an elf princess and a dwarf princess and this year Gatha, an orc warrior princess who was iptoor joins his harem. All of them were outcasts but at Ironbound they had found their family and they would fight to keep each other safe and to defend their temporary home with all they had. The challenges they face during the year are insurmountable, but Ymir keeps insisting they keep on forging the Akkiric rings and with four rings in hand they garnered ever more power even though he had still not quite figured out how these rings worked to gain their full potential . The main threat came to the university from the Merfolk whose King, Marrick wanted to get his hands on the Fractal Clock which was kept safe in the spire by the Princept, Della Pennez. Also Ymir was facing assassins sent by the Midnight Guild and the Silent Scream, both secret societies, who for some reason wanted him out of the way. He still needed to find out more about both but Della had heard a name from her past which she would rather keep hidden. She had seen professors killed during both years that the barbarian was at the college, what would his 3rd year bring? Undoubtedly Ymir was trouble, however he was also a hero who had once again saved both the college and his women. The Age of Isolation was coming to an end but what would follow? Ymir and his women had plans for the production of their Xocalati treats which would keep them in comfort if all went according to plan, and they were all ingenious in their different and spectacular ways. I am so intrigued by this series which apart from the sizzling hot sex scenes is full of great adventures and battles fought through both sword and ever growing sorcery. I just cannot wait to read the next book in the series.
Great 3 installment. Book seems to have hit its stride. Author has a plan for the series and has been sticking with it. It is erotic and plenty of sec scenes. But a good focus on plot. You can see small details from the first book being shown throughout. Most books in this series have a dramatic dip when the plot doesn’t have a clear direction. However, as mentioned by a lot of people… what the hell is up with della. Abysmal writing there. I’m sorry but I don’t think she can be redeemed in the last three books. She’s the princept and has done nothing to help the mc. She needs to get her act together or I will drop this series. Like all the broken princesses, she has a dark past but come on. How am I suppose to believe an assassin with hundreds of years of experience is just letting other assassins run around the school? Her in the fight scene? No existent. Her helping the man she’s been fanning over for 3 books? Nope, she spends her time screwing people. It’s an erotica, but give her some depth, and maybe a little more focus on her work. I hope she gets fired before she joins the harem. I can just totally see her joining it and being all high and mighty with the other girls.
This is a good book man, you are a good author. Just maybe release the books with all of Della’s scenes removed and the book will still flow nicely.
I sat on this book for a while. I was worried that this book, the third in the series would take a serious dive in the quality department.
Decent harem fantasy. The author does a good job not making this too much of a Harry Potter rip off. There are enough differences in this magical school to separate it from the Potter rip offs, even though some of the themes are the same. I would not think of these books as Hogwarts, but with raunchy harem sex.
Lots of violence, swearing and group sex, but other than lesbianism, no other gay sex. Some of the sexual encounters are more than vanilla, but treads the edge of word porn. Not quite Penthouse Letters but not fade to black either. Some of the sexual encounters felt more to add sex to the story (even if the sex was decently written) rather than to drive the story.
I've already gotten the next book in this series and hope there are a couple more books in this series. The author has quite a few open threads and hints for other stories.

I really love this story this series is great. Every new book in this series evolves the story further and gets more and more interesting. I love the way the characters interplay with each other and the personalities that are well written so that it adds a lot of color to the story. The bad guys are really bad and the good girls well they're really good and there's enough mystery that keeps you guessing to what's going to happen next. I really enjoyed this book and it kept me riveted through and through from beginning till end. Now I just have to wait for the next book in the series and I'm sure it'll be just as good if not better than this one.
Ymir has two princesses and two more possibles. Will the she orc and the lady dwarf decide to join his family? Others are interested in him too. Some want to kill him and some want to protect him. The fairies are also dangerous, but can he work out a deal with them? The mere folk want a magical device at the Institute and are willing to go to war over it. Can Ymir and his princesses protect their school and home? I like the action, humor, intrigue, and romance. I look forward to the next book.
Honeypots and butter holes, the "candy war" continues. This volume is really more of the same: assassins, rings, chocolate, and "fucking magic". I am beginning to suspect we will never leave Old Ironbound, as the world keeps bringing the story to the school. It still entertaining, although we do spend a lot of time on sex scenes that don't involve the MC. When you combined this with the page count for Ymir's scenes, it occasionally seems like too much, time that could otherwise be used for plot or world building.
Ymir's enemies are out to get him, he just wants to get him some...
Everyone is afraid of a barbarian with magic, they should be afraid of a barbarian with something to prove, especially when he has a harem of beautiful prices to help him. He's got exams to pass, and enemies to defeat, but most importantly, a harem to expand. Life is good if you're a barbarian in magic school.
Despite the disclaimer and the harem tag this series is not harem genre, it's some sort of open relationship/poly arrangement. Despite having a male MC the series focuses mostly on lesbian porn and him becoming more and more of a cuckold as the series progresses. Lower supply would make you think men would be more in demand but the opposite seems to be the case in this series as almost all women are more attracted to other women to the point of obsession. Even the women in MMC's supposed 'harem' fantasize about having sex with other women even while having sex with him.
Book really sucks you in. Great character development. I think Della is looking to weak though. Why would she be the head of this school of it was that easy to lie to her. Plus she was supposedly a master assassin? Needs a little work. Other than that great book.
I really enjoyed this book. I was able to guess a couple things but for the most parts they did come as a surprise. Very well done and very enjoyable. Character development is progressing very well and I like the depth to the characters becoming more intricate without being confusing or boring. Looking forward to the next book.
From the first book in this series, I've barely been able to put them down, and this, the third in the series, has me finishing it at an ungodly hour because you just can't put it down.
Conspiracies, assassin's, ancient magic's and hidden societies are just the tip of the iceberg for Ymir and his Princesses.
This series just keep getting better and better. We keep finding out more about our beloved characters as the world expand. Ymir is one lucky dude. Really happy to see more of the fayee in this book. Patiently awaiting the next one.
Its good to have another book from Crash and i enjoy reading about Ymirs adventures and harem where everyone is accepted and of course action and danger are never far away. Looking forward to the next book and hopefully its not too long away.
I really enjoyed the latest book of PotI book three. The alchemy was really cool, I liked how it's use was used in making yet another Akkiric rings. Looking forward to next book.
I love that fact that each book in this series has been better than the last. The fact that I care about almost all the characters in this book series blows me away.
I'm simply loving the barbarian books, fantastic characters, great hero/not hero. Great plots, much respect, really looking forward to the next installment
This Conan goes to wizard college continues to grow and evolve. Love the characters. I hope it keeps growing andI want Ymir to start building an army eventually.
Keeping strong. The story is progressing and the world is growing. The relationships are interesting and I enjoy the ones outside the MC and his girls. Still enjoyable so on to the next!
