ちはやふる [Chihayafuru] #20
Chihayafuru, Vol. 20
The finals of the Yoshino Club Tournament's Class A division. As this long day comes to an end, so do the raging head-to-head battles between powerhouse players. Among the losers are Arata, former Queen Inokuma, Sudo from Hokuou, and Harada-sensei. Yet they all remain, waiting to see who will come out the lone victor. Chihaya and Taichi, both members of the same club, have made their way through the tournament and face off in a sanctioned match at last -- with their first meeting being at these grand finals! The heated air swirls and sweat flies as the two battle with suffocating fervor. How will it all conclude?!

Si me hubieran dicho que estaría llorando con un manga de deporte de algo que se llama "karuta" y que nunca había oído en mi vida... no les habría creído. Pero es que es taaaan bonito ToT

Of course someone was going to skip the trip. Didn’t think it was going to be Mashima though, seeing his mom trying to stop him but Sumire stopping her is cute. The ending of Mashima vs Chihaya was good, I kind of wish we got Mashima only for this part, just put Ayase to the side, would make it a lot more interesting.

In all honesty, I'm starting to like Sumire and is rooting for Mashima to look her way romantically. She truly respects what Mashima likes and her attempting to stop his mother from interrupting? That's THE standard. Also, I wasn't expecting Mashima to keep a lot to himself especially when it comes to karuta.

Super interesting Taichi/Chihaya contrast in this one — I love them as a ship but separately they're also each on such great character journeys.

I tear up just thinking about how far they have come when you look at their first games and where they are now.
And while I personally might be team Arata, I think Taichi might be my favourite character? His story arc has been my favourite.
