These books are page turners for sure!! They are creative with complicated yet interesting story lines and satisfying endings. You will wonder why you’ve never read these before! I fully recommend them ;)
I read these books after watching the movie on Netflix. The movie was good, cringey but good.
I fell in love with these books, my favourite was the second book when it was the school of girls and boys and tedros was in his villain era.
Agatha and Tedros were an amazing couple to watch fall in love, even if I wanted to push their heads together multiple times.
Sophie... my god was annoying at times, the time she told agatha she wouldn't be a good queen and to let tedros go and got inside her head for her selfish reasons really put me off her and although she did redeem herself later on I could never quite let that go, like that was her best friends true love and she still tried to sabotage it????
Hort my love deserves all the praises!!! man was a saint
The coven??? babies loved them sm, basically carried the books.
I really loved the last two books the plot twists in them were amazing.
This is honestly a wonderful series! I got so attached to these books, I love them! They are fantasy type books, but they have so much more in them, there's romance, and drama🎭, you get attached to the characters because you get to know them so well, you get to know everything about them, and you end up hanging on there every word, wondering what will happen next. Theres always something new, interesting, and mysterious. Theres always a new mystery to be solved, it gets you interested and just constantly wanting to keep reading to find out whats next.I was so sad when it was over and there was nothing else to read, but at the same time im glad it had a good ending😊 This is one of my new favorite series to read, and I will definitely reread this again in the future.
I absolutely loved the twists and turns in the 'School for Good and Evil' series as readers attempt to connect the past and present. It's a fantastic coming-of-age book that helps young girls realize friendships and relationships require balance. The message is clear: you don't need any type of relationship that isn't meaningful. However, it's essential to understand that no relationship is perfect. That doesn't mean you should give up on it. Instead, talk to your friends/family member/significant other, find out why there's trouble, and work together to resolve it. The magic of a true connection is worth the uncomfortable conversations and apologies.
It's aimed for young adults, so don't expect Shakespeare. 10/10 FUN series in a way you would not expect. Lots of love triangles, sisterhood, drama and epic storytime battling! These type of novels are fun when you don't have someone in your ear telling you theyre childish... sometimes it's good to read a whimsical cliche magical novel & the school of good & evil is a good take on the idea of fairytale lands.
Ik vond de film erg leuk dus ik wilde de boeken eens proberen. Ze zijn een pak donkerder dan de film maar toch nog wel met humor. En man, zoveel verrassingen. Dat true love en happily ever after klinkt vervelend maar hier gaat het alle kanten uit. Ik kon echt niet stoppen met lezen, 6 boeken lang.
Loved this series with all my heart. Although at times I hated Sophie for her actions the storyline always brought me back. The author has a way of sucking you into the fantasy world and you'll never want to leave.
This was the most boring thing ever. It started off good in the first book, and then it turned so boring untill the end and THEN it became intresting. And I read the second book, and this pattern just continued, untill the second last book, that one was decent.
Read all six, they all are like 2.5-4 star books tbh with quest for glory being my favourite, I can’t remember but one that Tedros finds his mother is really great. This technically counts as six books but Goodreads didn’t have them all
I read this book years ago in high-school. I fell in love with this series, reading each book as soon as it came out. Rereading it always brings me a great sense of comfort.
theres a meme that goes "why do u like __ so much," and replied w "im glad u asked" followed by a 6 hour voice message and thats how i feel abt this stupid STUPID series
4 star average across all 6 books; I favoured books 1,5, and 6.
Soman Chainani had me at "Sophie had waited her whole life to be kidnapped". I enjoyed his style of writing, the twists and turns, writing a fresh-feeling story in what is a very saturated genre, and I did catch myself growing fond of the characters as I went through the series (I even got a bit teary at some points!)
The first trilogy has been criticised by other reviewers in the past as being a bit queerbaity - and I can definitely see that interpretation the second trilogy is less subtle in its LGBT relationships and characters (I wonder if it had to be 'toned down' or more coded in earlier books in order to get a foothold in publishing? Not that that would've been a good reason but it could have played a part nonetheless). I think Chainani's writing improved over the course of the series, but yeah, a lot across these books could have been better.
Used the 1st chapter in a P5/6 class to inspire creative writing which was successful, the kids enjoyed the opening page the most for setting the scene.
